3 days post-op and ITCHING!!

I am 3-days post-op and the grafted area is itching like crazy!!!:confused:

Any advice on what I can do (I took some Benadryl and that seems to help some).

I am spraying constantly to keep the area moist, and keeping it covered with Saran wrap.

The itching post op almost drove me crazy also, benadryl is a good start and I think prednisone might help also but am not sure.

 

Get on the horn to your doc! He should be able to help.

You are putting Saran wrap over the grafts? If so, that is the first time I have ever heard that as a post-op instruction.

Mine was at about 3 to 4 days post of and the itching was also driving me mad. I just soldiers on through it and it went away by out about 10 days post op

Itching is normal post-op but I can't imagine the saran wrap is doing any good. Just be patient at this point and fight it out. When the scabs fall off you could apply some aloe on the itchy areas. Whatever you do don't scratch!

To answer the questions/comments about the saran wrap - it is standard procedure with Dr. Cooley. His instructions post-op involve using a special spray on the grafted area and the saran wrap acts as a "greenhouse effect".

I just had my procedure and they sprayed it with solution, applied "saran wrap" like plastic, and then wrapped it with quaze.
