Senior Member formertrackstar Posted December 14, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) In 2002 I noticed that my hair was thinning in the frontal area of my hairline so I went crazy trying everything from propecia to rogaine to sawpalmetto.. Finally I came across a brochure of a Dr. in the Philadelphia area that does hair transplantation.. I stopped in his office and decided to have him do 2 hair transplants to my frontal area of my hairline.. What a big mistake! The results were very unnatural and unpleasing. The first and second procedures were done By Dr. Joseph Gallagher from the Gallagher Medical Institute.. I would not recommend him to anyone. He is still using outdated techniques to this day-which are plugs. He is misleading many people advertising that he is performing follicular transplantation. I stopped in his office and told him that I was unhappy with the results and wanted my money back.. He said "I can't do that." I can give you a free transplant.. I told him that I would never let him touch my head again! So I did my homework and decided to give The Shapiro Medical Group a shot since I did months and months of research to find the best clinic for me.. I talked to Matt Zupan and scheduled last February. Right now I am posting the 10 month period with I had my 3rd transplant.. What do you think of the results? Before and after pics of Dr. Ron Shapiro's work of camouflaging old work! Some of the pics were taken with my I Phone.. Not the best pics. Feedback please.... Senior Member formertrackstar Posted December 14, 2011 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 14, 2011 I had my surgery on the 7th of February, 2011 with The Shapiro Medical Group.. They did 2578 grafts.. Part of my old scar was excised out while SMG harvested more grafts. The strip was taken in two sections – 1 was 1.4cm width x 12.5cm length, 2nd was 1.2cm width x 16.5 cm length. Acell was used in the donor scar. Trichophytic closure was performed.. Dr. Gallagher needs to be shut down.. There have been numerous people that had complained about his work on this site.. I will definately post more pics.. Senior Member HARIRI Posted December 15, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) Formertrackstar. I swear that Im 100% similar to your case. Its like I have a twin, I had exactely the same hairline as yours from a bad transplant of 2000 grafts. I was repaired by Dr. Rahal with a 2500 grafts which is same as yours as well. Im really feeling optimistic about it after viewing your 9 months post op. Well Im 4 months post op only. But seriously my hairline prior my repair surgery was a copy of yours. Great job by the master Dr. Ron Shapiro, good to see a result by him these days as most of the results posted are by Dr. Paul's. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted December 15, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2011 Former, It looks like you had a tremendous start at 2 months. Definitely some early growth. The 10 month pic is simply stellar. Amazing turn around in my book. Congrats! Senior Member Janna Posted December 18, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted December 18, 2011 Hi FTS, I recall some of our conversations when you were here at Shapiro Medical. I also recall the optimism you had for the result you'll achieve with SMG. It's good to see it's made a nice transformation so far and you're on your way to achieving expected results. Thanks for updating. Your result is a small example of the results Dr. Ron achieves on a regular basis, however, majority of his patients do not have time to post or send us pics so we really appreciate your efforts. Senior Member formertrackstar Posted June 3, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 3, 2012 I am 17 months post op and I am concerned about the width of my scar.. I went to the barber 4 days ago and I told him to cut my hair as short as possible without showing the scar from my hair transplant.. I have been very concerned since now the scar is visibly noticeable to myself and others.. For the past few days I have been hiding under my hat since the scar is visible to myself.. I am worried that someone may notice this.. I am just curious what that other members of this community think of this scar size.. Can this scar widen down the road in the future? I am hesitant to go to a plastic surgeon and get it revised due to the fact that my surgeon told me that I have an estimated 2,500 grafts left in the bank.. I think it would be foolish to though any hair away since I will loose more natural (native hair) down the road.. I really miss my short hair cuts though.. I guess at this point I have to tell the barber to leave my hair longer on the sides. My surgeon did use A-Cell/Tricho with the closure of the scar. I was also in the sun about 1 week ago and noticed that the the scar is slightly red.. I would think that I would be OK in the sun since it is 17 months post op.. These pictures where taken with my I Phone..
Senior Member Bucksred Posted June 3, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 3, 2012 Hello mate, I'm no expert but can see why you'd be concerned. May I suggest talking to your Dr or a hair vet called Spex on here and of course Bill or Pat. It would be nice to here what they think. Senior Member orlhair1 Posted June 3, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 3, 2012 I would just contact SMG with whatever concerns you have. It is possible that it is just cut way too short, but when you contact SMG they will be able to tell you what if anything you need to do. Senior Member Levrais Posted June 3, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 3, 2012 You could probably keep,it shorter on the bottom and fade it longer as you get to the scar and still have a short cut while keeping things hidden. 5700 FUE in 3 procedures with Dr. Bisanga View my patient website: http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1874
