dslack6 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 For high-school soccer, a tradition of our team was bleaching our hair. I made the team as a sophomore, so I've bleached my hair three times, and I've started to notice that my hairline is receding above my temples. Although, no one in my family is suffering from balding, I'm only 18, and every time I get a haircut I'm always complimented about my thick hair. Therefore, I don't think I'm balding, and I think my receding hair line is a result of the bleach damage, and also because I think I dry my hair too roughly and I have a habit of tugging at the areas above my temples. So, I think my hair loss is my fault. I noticed this about a year ago, and I've started to stop my habit, and I'm no longer in high-school so bleaching my hair won't happen. Will my hair grow back, and how long?

Senior Member NEWHAIRPLEASE Posted December 9, 2011 Senior Member Posted December 9, 2011 Just my opinion, but that looks like a classic receding hairline to me. I don't think it's from bleach, but I'm no doctor. I would certainly be looking into finasteride. Newhairplease!! Senior Member aaron1234 Posted December 9, 2011 Senior Member Posted December 9, 2011 You can damage your hair from bleach chemicals but it won't cause a receding hairline. You are rather young to be getting a receding hairline so I would make an appointment with a hair doc to get a miniaturization check and/or hair bulk analysis. You should consider starting finasteride ASAP.
