Regular Member shooter13 Posted December 2, 2011 Regular Member Posted December 2, 2011 Hi all, I just had my 4th hair transplant last Friday, and just got my stiches out this morning. I am quite familiar with the process from here until full growth but i did have a couple of questions that I hoped some could answer for me and put me at ease a bit. As I said, this was my 4th hair transplant (1,066 grafts last week, 3,185 total from my other 3). I wanted to know if with each succesive procedure, would the growth rate retard itself due to the potential scar tissue on my head from my other procedures? Instead of new hairs popping through at 3-6 months, would my growth take longer to break the skin? Also, most of my follicles this time were transplanted around the crown of my head, where i did not have any grafts placed in prior procedures. With this said, does hair typically take longer to grow on the crown as opposed to other areas? I know patience is key with these procedures, but I just wanted to get some feedback on growth rates in this particular area of the head. Oh and for the record, I have been taking propecia for a few years now, not sure if that would accelerate growth or not. Finally, I think the majority of the hair that I currently do have is transplanted hair. Does shock loss affect these hairs, or do they typically just affect the native hairs left on my head? Thanks in advance for your responses! Scott
Regular Member Dr. Glenn Charles Posted December 5, 2011 Regular Member Posted December 5, 2011 Follicles transplanted to the crown often do take a little longer to start growning. Previously transplanted follicles generally do not fall out from shock nearly as easily as native hairs and if they do shed it will be mostly temporary.
