Should I be worrying or not?

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I am new to this forum, so I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Damon, and I am 26 years old. I don't know if I am loosing my hair or not, but I have been certainly paying attention to my hairline the last 6 months or so. My dad is bald and started balding in his late 20's. His father had more hair than he did, but was still thin on top. My mom's father had a head full of hair, but died in his mid 30's. I know the gene can come from either side.

I have really been paying close attention to my hairline and have been trying to compare photos to when I was in my early 20's. I have 3 wrinkle lines on my forehead and have been comparing my hairline to the top wrinkle. I don't notice much of a change in the last 5 to 6 years, maybe a little change at the temples, but nothing set in stone. To be on the safe side, 3 months ago, I started taking propecia. The way I see it, I just want to keep what I have. After taking it the last few months, I am really wondering why I am taking it in the first place. You please be the judge....any insight from the experts would be appreciated.

Also, I have a hair whorl on the back of my head, it's smaller than the size of a dime and only seems to be visable when I have shorter hair.

Hi Damon,

Personally, I do not see any indications of hair loss in the shared images. At this point, I highly recommend a consultation with a trusted dermatologist or hair restoration physician to thoroughly review your scalp and determine whether or not the Propecia (finasteride) regimen is necessary.

Good luck!

You are batty. Stop the meds, you don't need them.

Show off! :D

LOL....

I wouldn't worry Damon. Even if you do need a HT at some point in the distant future, it will probably only be 1200-1500 follicular units.

I understand your concern though, because hair loss is gradual and creeps up on you. Sometimes you can't tell if it's happening because you see yourself every day.

You are at the age where men can go from their juvenile hairline to the mature hairline. That is maybe what you are seeing, at worst. Your hair is awesome!

Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily

Avodart 0.5 mg. daily

Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily

5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily

Biotin 1000 mcg daily

Multi Vitamin daily

Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? :D

I Personally think your hairline is low as all hell and your hair is thick as heck too! DOnt take those meds! You're going to disrupt your hormones and who knows it might cause hair loss~ YOull know hair loss when it starts happening~

You hair does not show any sign of you getting worried about. You can just be more cautious in hair care and this simple thing will solve all that you worry about buddy.
