Hello, I've learned alot from this site. I noticed that people rarely list the amount they paid for a procedure. I am naturally a thrifty guy so I want to get my best value. I was quoted $3.50 per graph for a strip HT by a doctor that is recommended on this site. I've seen other docs who are not on this site who quoted $3.00, and I even found a post from a few months ago saying that they were quoted $3.00 by the SAME doctor who now quotes $3.50. All the doctors I seen said Ill need about 2000 graphs. I would prefer to see the doc on here with good reviews, but seeing how I was quoted $3.50 and recently someone quoted $3.00 I am hesitant because that amounts to a $1,000 difference and don't want to be taken for a ride. Opinions? Also, please let me know what u paid (publicly or privately) and the procedure you received. Thanks. I want to get my procedure before the end of the year and I will soon place pics of where I am now and track my journey through my HT process........

All docs prices vary slightly and generally the cost of the surgery can never be exact till the day as all depends on the numbers you receive.

Often with Dr Feller and Dr Lindsey for example a patient will be given more grafts than they pay for anyway as a token of good will so sharpening your pencil too much can be a moot point at the end of the day.

Focus more on the surgeon you want and desire to do your HT rather than trying to penny pinch as it could all be in vain anyway ;)

I have taken that into consideration, but seeing that this doctor quoted someone $3, and me $3.50 seems like a red flag. I work in an industry that I find I have to quote prices to clients and I COULD size them up when I meet them and quote a high price just because I feel that is what they would pay. Instead I offer menu prices for my services and I adjust it if it requires more work than usual and I am up front with the client. The rates are published on all literature. I have found doctors who advertise prices and I find that the ones who dont advertise have the power to quote anything they wish unbeknowst to the paying customer. Kinda sneaky, thats why Im asking my balding brethern for advice and to talk numbers so I can gauge the qoing rates. I felt like I was negotiating the price of a used car with this guy.

Perhaps the surgeon in question increased their price during the time between the other patient's surgery and your consultation with them. Also, their procedure might have been a larger one and the doctor might discount the price of larger procedures. I'm just giving them the benefit of the doubt.

We know nothing in regards to the surgery facts or requirements so are you doing a true like for like comparison regarding your individual case?

If you feel the Doc in question is trying to swindle you and squeeze you on price and you are not happy as not getting "the deal" you feel you personally are entitled to, then simply trot on.

I am unaware of all the facts and Matt makes good points.

Those are valid points and I have taken them into consideration. Nevertheless, I read through alot of the forum posts and it just seems like pricing is a taboo subject and I wanted to open the dialogue in regards to pricing. I understand that there are variables but Im trying to get an idea of what people are paying for the type of procedures they have. More of an informal poll, if you will.
