jonnybe Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 hi I am thinking i need to do something about my hair. Currently i am norwood 2 with just receeding on the sides quite a lot. It is coverable when my hair is longer but as i have fine hair its sometimes easier to spot. i would like some advice what to do. I have heard that propecia finasteride can give some lasting side effects PROPECIAHELP: Unresolved Finasteride Propecia Proscar side effects info & forum so not sure if i can go down that route. Also not to keen on rogaine as i have read that can actually make you loose more hair I will be travelling to india and asia in the next few months so if i ordered a bulk supply of finasteride for the 12 month trip would it be ok getting trough customs with out a prescription. another question is surgery i wouldnt mind paying ?1000-?2000 but am i looking at more than that and is it effective?? thanks for your help in advance sorry for the rambling
Regular Member Dr. Glenn Charles Posted October 19, 2011 Regular Member Posted October 19, 2011 Although Propecia is not a narcotic I would still recommend having a prescription with you if carry that big of a supply. First, everyone has to way the pros and cons and make their own decisions in the end. To me, the "possible" side effects of propecia were well worth the possibility of stopping my hair loss. I briefly scanned the link you had and it seemed like propaganda. I wouldn't base your whole decision on that article. Find out the ACTUAL side effects and the probability....I'm sure they are very small....to me, not even a factor. Definitely, as the Doc said, I would get a prescription. If you read more on the boards, many people take proscar and divide it in 4. I'm in Chicago and that basically breaks down to $1.25 a month. You just have to deal with splitting pills. Hiar Transplant surgery is very effective, if you are a good candidate for it. However, $1000-$2000 is not going to get you much, if anything, and definitely not enough to get the results you are looking for. Well, that's a start. I suggest you just start reading posts on here and googling. I literally spent hours and days for a long time researching and reading. There is no one answer. Inform yourself and make careful decisions. Best of luck.
