Senior Member Buzz2 Posted October 16, 2011 Senior Member Posted October 16, 2011 I know this has probably been mentioned many times..... I would be grateful if someone can tell me the chances of having shockloss follwing surgery. Is this something that always happens? Or does it depend on factors such as the surgeon , whether or not youre on Propecia etc etc ? Also, I have heard that shaving or having the hair short may reduce the risk?? I have quite a lot of hair at the moment but am a bit thin in the crown area , so would like to add hair to this and through the middle to add some density. I would appreciate any comments or patient experiences. Fyi - I have been on Propecia for about 2 months now Many thanks HT No1 : Nobel clinic, Gatwick 500 grafts - Terrible result, left with bumpy skin HT No2 : Marwan Saifi 1680 grafts. Great result HT No3 - Marwan Saifi 1250 grafts. Another good result. HT No4 - Hakan Doganay 2134 grafts. Result TBA Total 5134 grafts.

Regular Member Chael Posted October 17, 2011 Regular Member Posted October 17, 2011 im 11 days post op now, and certainly experiencing shock loss... it is real evident when i shower or when i check my pillow in the morning. one thing i have noticed is that all the hairs are thick healthy hairs with bulbs on the end. is it safe to assume that these will all grow back and are all part of the "shock loss"? is there such thing as experiencing permanent shock loss with healthy hair? from what i have gathered from Spex's informative thread, only the really thin hairs on there way out will experience Permanent shock loss, where as healthy hairs shedding due to the scalp trauma will grow back and experience only temporary shock loss..
Senior Member orlhair1 Posted October 17, 2011 Senior Member Posted October 17, 2011 Healthy hairs that shed from shock loss should grow back.
