Regular Member gottitgood4me Posted September 26, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted September 26, 2011 Traction Alopecia is always unfortunate as I think that means it was preventable.
Regular Member Tractionloss Posted September 27, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted September 27, 2011 Thanks for the comments guys. Yes traction alopecia is unfortunate and preventable. But to be honest, as a hispanic/african american woman, it really is set in our culture to braid, relax, and pull our hair tight from an early age. My mom has been braiding my hair for as long as i can remember. I think i got my first relaxer at age 9. By the time i found out what traction alopecia was, i had already experienced permanent hair loss. So sad because if i had known better i would have done better. But i know now. I know that i must change my hair habits so that i can keep my hair this time around.
