Storage of Finasteride

Would removing generic 1mg finasteride tablets from the foil blister packs they come in and in to a container damage them or reduce the effectiveness in any way, would they go out of date sooner or anything?

Also if I cut a large amount of 5mg tablets up in one go and stored them in a container would this have any effect?

I've always heard that it's not advisable to cut up your 5mg tablets well in advance. I cut up one week's worth at a time.

 

I would imagine that removing your 1mg tablets from the blister pack would not affect the potency of the medication since the protective coating is not compromised as it is when cutting the 5mg pills. but I could be wrong.
