Regular Member snydez99 Posted June 19, 2011 Regular Member Share Posted June 19, 2011 Hi, I'm three months out from a transplant from Dr Gabel. I need a haircut as my stubbel on top is getting long and so is the rest of my hair. Are there any precautions I need to take? thanks
Senior Member Dutch Posted June 19, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted June 19, 2011 Congrats. Good doc too. I wouldn't worry now. Just don't have the back & especially the sides cut short, maybe a number 4-5 on the clippers for now. Try to get the top to be cut lightly & gently. So a family member can do it?... http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2329
Senior Member Louise Posted June 23, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted June 23, 2011 Hi snydez99 At your first haircut you may want to ask your hair stylist to look at the donor scar before cutting your hair just to ensure that they do not cut it too short. Patient's donor scar may be pink for 6 months post-op and a few patients may get some shedding above or below the incision in the first few months. If your hair is cut too short it may be difficult to hide the donor scar while it is healing and all you can do at that point is wait until it grows in again. I hope this helps.
