TRX2™ Molecular Hair Growth Complex was developed based on laboratory experiments that turned closed, dysfunctional potassium channels into open, fully activated potassium channels.*

The proprietary potassium channel-stimulating complex within TRX2™ contains a patent pending combination of micro-nutrients. Potassium, L-carnitine, BCAA and nicotinic acid work with your body to postpone-hair loss and stimulate the growth of hair follicles on a molecular level.*

How TRX2™ Molecular Hair Growth Supplement Works*

TRX2™ Molecular Hair Growth Supplement acts on potassium channels, small pore-forming protein structures that control the transport of potassium ions across the hair follicle’s cell membrane. Healthy potassium channels are essential for maintaining the hair follicle’s full biological activity. TRX2 scientists have demonstrated that as people experience hair loss the function of potassium channels within hair follicles diminishes. The effect is impaired membrane potential and interrupted ion transportation across the hair follicle’s cellular membranes – resulting in shrinking follicles and thinning hair. Based on this research, TRX2 devised an elegant solution for stimulating hair growth on a molecular level: The stimulation of potassium ion channels within hair follicles. TRX2™ Molecular Hair Growth Supplement facilitates the entry of fuel (amino acids, lipids and regulatory compounds) into the hair follicle and stimulates the production of new potassium channels – postponing hair loss and growing new, healthy hair.

TRX2™when used in combination with minoxidil

Topically applied minoxidil is one of the most widely used treatment options against male and female pattern hair loss. However, the clinical outcome of minoxidil based treatment regimen is often disappointing. In many cases the response rates are limited and efficacy decreases or disappears over time after continued use.

Originally minoxidil was developed as an oral antihypertensive drug, but a frequent side-effect was hair growth. The detailed mechanism of action of minoxidil on hair follicles is unclear. However, known as a potent potassium channel opener, it can be assumed that the drug targets the same tiny protein structures (potassium channels) TRX2™ does. Recent studies reveal that the ability of minoxidil to bind to potassium channels and function as an effective channel opener within human hair follicles varies among patients. This may be because every patient has different genetic susceptibilities.

TRX2™’s potassium channel activating nutrients work well in combination with existing minoxidil based treatment regimens such as Rogaine™ (Regaine™ or RIUP™). Our proprietary TRX2™ Hair Growth Complex has been shown in studies performed to date to boost overall efficacy of minoxidil treatment and to significantly improve the results even in those patients who have not previously experienced positive responses.

Listed below are some of the specific beneficial effects observed at the cellular level:

Cellular level

  1. Increased membrane potential of dermal papilla cells in hair follicles*

  2. De novo
    synthesis of potassium channels*

  3. Enhanced potassium channel activity & functionality*

  4. Hyperpolarized hair follicles*

This product is specifically designed for patients suffering from the early stages of hair loss (Norwood 1-4). Some of the benefits reported by those who regularly take three TRX2™ Molecular Hair Growth Supplement capsules per day include:

Visual level

  • The cessation of hair loss*

  • The re-growth of hair follicles – including frontal region and temple area*

  • Visibly stronger & thicker hair shafts*

Taking TRX2 since ca. 9 month. Hairloss considerably decreased and I can now clearly see regrowth happening both in the crown as well as temple area. Don't expect miracles BUT do recommend it as results are pretty astonishing.

Also: Was suffering severe side-effects with other treatment prior to TRX2. Don't have any of these problems when taking TRX2 (ingredients do not interfere with your hormonal balance).

I looked at the ingredients of TRX2 and most if not all seem to be readily available in other supplements you can get from a health food shop.

Maybe not in the same concentrations but it does make me wonder whether it is worth the price.

I'm resurrecting this thread because there's intensive advertisement for TRX2 in the UK right now. Some of the FAQs, in particular the ingredients and the use alongside minox & finasteride can be found here: http://www.hairsite.com/hair-loss-treatment/trx2/trx2-faq.htm.

I have mixed feelings about this. Looking at the various comments on the web, I see no strong views against it although it's been on the market for 2 years, giving potentially unhappy people plenty of time to speak up. And since it is a dietary supplement with - apparently - no side effects, I'm willing to give it a shot. The only thing I don't like is the price, ie about 50 Euros for 30 days (ie a bottle of 90 capsules @ the recommended dose of 3 per day). Finasteride works fine when taken every other day, I'm wondering whether they're not pushing for consumption. Perhaps just one of these things every day would work just as fine? What do you all think about this product?

Hello

I have the same doubts and questions.

I bought the ingredients separately (which makes me take 7 pills, with more concentration per ingredient than the original TRX2 though) and I have been taking them for 1 month now.

I bought enough pills for more or less 250 days (8 month which is when the first results are supposed to shown) for about 70 pounds. I'm planning to take them for one year. I'm not taking anything else, but I'm using a ketoconazole based shampoo. Will see if it has some effect or not.

Cheers

I'm not a doctor so I don't know whether the combination of these ingredients really does what it says on the box. I had never heard of "enhanced potassium channel activity" before. I guess it would help to have the viewpoint of some of our resident physicians. The other question is of course about the unwanted side-effects. The lack of feedback anywhere on the Internet tells me there are none (people are usually very quick to shout when something's not right), but I wonder whether this product is like "vitamins for the hair" or whether it has the potential to change the hormonal balance of the body.

The main ingredients seem to be 800mg per day of carnitine with a few other amino acids and vitamins +minerals

(from: http://www.trx2.com/store/hair-loss-treatment/)

You could put that statement on anything. Protein is necessary to "promote and sustain healthy hair growth" so I suppose you could include that same warning on tins of tuna!

From a quick google search, the average person takes in 20 - 200mg of carnitine a day. To take large doses, you could take whey protein (that athletes use as a protein shake) as one small scoop provides 400mg.

Overall, eating a decent diet is good for you in many respects. It will help your overall health. However, spending 60 pounds per month for vitamins supplements will not help you regrow hair.

If you do want to try it, I would recommend following jlemons method - 70 pounds for 250 days supply rather than 60 pounds for 30 days!

Hello Hariri,

I don't have any personal experience with this product. I guess one could take the approach that almost anything is worth a try. However, I find myself chagrin because of the consistent victimization of hair loss sufferers. Independent studies by reputable medical researchers should be done before embracing the next miracle cure. The following is the advertised blend of the product (Potassium, BCAA, Nicotinic Acid) with a natural energy-generating substance (Carnipure™ tartrate). The last ingredient simply being the amino acid L-carnitine. All these ingredients are available in various natural health supplements in different proportions though maybe not in the concentrations of the product.

My point here is that hair loss sufferers have been down this road before and bilked for millions of dollars. I suggest proceed with extreme caution or better yet wait for verifiable independent research proof and not anecdotal stories. All the Best, Michael

Any feedback after 6 months, jlemon?

I have suffered from curiously slow hair loss since 1998 since I was 21, since then my hairline has been a bit backwards and the front is getting thinner now, but there's no gap behind and I still do have quite some hair. I was wondering if that would make me one of the happy few that would benefit from one of those non-aggressive treatments.

Haven't posted for a long time, but I noticed the ramp up in advertising of this product in the UK. The claims made (87% results etc.) seemed daft to me.

I made a formal complaint to the ASA (the advertising standards authority, the official body in the UK) and they have just adjudicated.

Basically they found against TRX2 and all of their advertising now has to be changed. TRX2 was unable to produce sufficient evidence for their claims. The judgement is very lengthy but basically it means all the claims they were making in magazine adverts have to be withdrawn.

The only thing they are allowed to claim is the potassium channels element.

Must say I am quite impressed with the ASA and I would encourage all UK forum members to complain about any adverts they think could be misleading.

Hi,

The ingredients in TRX2 capsule were specifically formulated to work

in concert with one another and are manufactured in accordance with strict European quality controls. And it's much more easier to take all the complex at once than separately.

Hi

I have been taking TRX2 for 2 years now and have strictly followed there regime.

I thought I would see some benefits and changes to my hair, but nothing has happened or changed.

You would know if new hair was growing, and would see changes, however small.

So feel it is fruitless to continue.

My Hair is Norwood 2, so perhaps I am asking too much?

Any ideas what to do next?

Thanks

I agree with foxtrot. TRX2 was a complete waste of time for me too. I used it for about 12 months and I didn't see any visible changes in my hair. My hair fall continued at the same rate and no new growth was evident.

I have since moved onto HR23+ which has been really positive for me so far. I continue to use this with Regaine, which I've used for some time now. I'm not sure how effective Regaine is, but I'm a little afraid to stop using it through paranoia of my hair falling out.
