It is almost 5 months ....in a week or two I hope to give another update with pics, holding on to the professional ones till about 6-8 months.

I am just amazed now at the thickening process, many many more small hairs are showing, newer batch of pimples and growth... a factory of small hairs adding to the other ones filling gaps connecting edges and dots...

I am just HAPPY , my personality changes back I can look people straight in the eyes, my confidence increased, I DO NOT WEAR HATS I AM THROWING THEM ALL IN THE TRASH ALL THE HATS, i am now ALLERGIC to hats, it reminds me of the bitter past.

I still hope to fill one small 'hole' area on the left side....I wish Dr Umar also did my old scar filling like he promised, he said he can do that one day ....than I could cut my hair short from the back like I want it to be always super short.

FUE is amazing, the quality of the hair is improving, as it is softening, thickening, straightening, blending ...

The direction of the hair is fantastic

small hairs are grwoing outside the actual hairline making the hairline look so natural, so amazing, I just cant stop describing the DAILY change in the hair....it is like a growing child , plants ,

awesomeness!

I am happy for you brother! In your case, the transformation of the body has led to a complete transformation of the mind, body and spirit. Congrats on burning your caps!!!!!!!!

Atticus :)

shorter hair today, 2nd haircut , one of the pics is extreme sunlight in marina del rey coastal house, two other in normal day light internal and 3 in bathroom strong lights

It is getting better and better by the day

you can see a lot of fine hair on the pic with my hand hiding my face , the left not as good as right also there are two holes and some areas of weak desnity cant see them very well in the pics , can see them better when I wake up in the morning

I am starting to be able to style my hair in different directions, learning my new hair , some styles I havent done even when I was 18

several pics taken mostly from front cam (less quality)

2 of the pics are from back cam (very high quality)

I am not partying enough to take pics so I am doing it all by myself hard to take pics

But I tried different lights

I am so satisfied, I visited umar today he thought it looked awesome!

I was very happy

I still have the scar from the butcher of my first transplant.

Umar will fix it for me , he thought I have tons of more donor hair

I am satisfied now , I might update at the 1 year!

Thanks all

secondtime,

You've got every reason to be smiling! :) Your results are very impressive. I'm thrilled for you. Please do update us at the one year mark. I'm sure you will continue to see some added density.

Congratulations!

secondtime,

Your hair is looking fantastic. You must have the nape hair of a gorilla! :D

I really hope that it is long lasting and that your nape hair stays strong. Maybe get on propecia (if you haven't already) to preserve that precious nape!

Again, looking fantastic. :)

Yeah I do have a lo of nape hair, I had previously done 6 sessions of laser to get rid of it little did I know that I could use it for transplant.

So it survived 6 sessions of laser!

As far As my transplant it was 4500 grafts

i think 500 were beard hair that he used as fillers

out of 4000 I think less than half was nape hair and it was used for the hair line and temple areas. I am extremely happy with my sides, best and most natural look possible. It was initially looking rougher than my own hair but it now is getting nicer and smoother and I think my sides (temple areas look great). these areas were totally empty of hair since I was 18.

As far as the rest of the hair I think he took it from my universal donor sites.

The good news my donor areas seem to be still same , so thick, so when Dr Umar saw it he was himself surprised of how thick it still is

I will actually soon publish a Video if I have time where I use the comb through my hair, it feels great especially if I use forming pommade cream by american crew, it kind of makes the hair stickier but still soft which almost glues hair together without the harsh gel effect , this way I can run my hands through my hair without a problem.

I like to see more comments.

Thanks atticus , aaron and taking the plunge.

Hi Second time, its my firsttime to this site after doing some research on Dr Umar for my potential FUE HT (1st time). I must say I am blown away by your progress and your new found confidence has given me the shove to go ahead with my FUE, hopefully with Umar too. My only concern is the amount of time it took for the redness to fade with you. Are you a special case or is it the norm for the redness to last so long? Anyway, good for you for going through with it, and I hope it makes a massive difference to your outlook and social life. Congrats man.

Now that everything's all done and good, I feel that I can now ask a question that would otherwise be indelicate: how do you deal with the way your head looks for the first three months after the surgery? Seriously? I could handle just staying in my house 24/7 for a few months if I had to in order to regrow hair, but that's not an option. Forget socializing. How do you go to work and talk to people and expect people to be able to listen to you and concentrate on what you are saying when your head looks like a disgusting, bloody mess? Again, I'm not saying this to be insulting, your result looks great now, but I just wonder how one can even *function* in society in the interim without grossing everybody around them out.

Since I have *never* seen anybody with a head that looks like this in real life, I have to assume not too many people are getting HT's these days, and it makes it all the more harder to imagine being seen like that for months (as opposed to say, braces, which are considered normal even though they don't look good until the improvement is done).

OK i FINALLY HAD THE TIME to get to the forum and answer the last two questions .

Sorry guys I didnt abandon you completely.

1- In response to redness it took 3 months for me. It depends on the color of your skin. If you are more brownish then yo won't have as much redness. If you are more light skinned you will. Also I had 4500 transplants so that is massive

2- I will be VERY honest with you. Eventhough I am an extremely confident man, I had to deal with this with a lot of courage and it was VERY VERY VERY difficult. I think that if you can take off 2 months at least it would be better. I personnally had make up on my head to try to cover, weird combos of different things I bought.

I also had surgical caps a lot since I was a surgeon so I was looking for my surgery days

Imagine that all this happened in my NEW JOB, new people it was CRAZY!!!!!!

I will tell you the best way is being honest. Anytime I would see someone stare at my head I would say a joke , make fun of myself , i did mention transplant even to some patients of mine that were staring, to some nurses . it was a lot of stress. the outcome is so worth it.

it is of note that I still have 2 small areas I call them the "holes" luckily they are behind the front line so I can hide them easily.

Dr umar said he would fill them for me for free. But I am so satisfied now that I am afraid seeking perfection and ruining what I have. it is not worth it. plus short of cancer there is no way I would shave my head again!!!!

I hope this message finds you.

I wish I could lie to you but the first 2-3 months SUCK!!!!!! the results are WORTH IT

Thanks for your answers. If I were you, I'd think the 3 bad months were worth it, too. I can totally see that if one transplant is going to set you up: it's worth it.

I saw a doctor a month he told me that if I went down this path, I'd want at least 3 operations throughout my life (i'm like a NW2.5 or something now, at 25 years old). I just couldn't go through the hell once, wait a whole 9-12 months to get a good result, and then repeat 3 times, unless I was going to have a mane like Robert Redford's by the time it was all finished. Congrats on your result though, really great outcome IMO.

Given my condition, though, I'm thinking about going the hairpiece route, and checkin' this sumbitch out /watch?v=g-dD7RJcEs4 (add this to the end of youtube's address. i don't want to hijack this thread with a giant video of something unrelated)

Secondtime, I haven't seen your update in a while. How is the growth now? The last pics you posted of your 7-8 month update, you had tons of growth. Your hair looks great in those pics but I am wondering if you had more growth after that. Seems like you had a great yield.

my yield in general i think was 50%

in some areas higher than others

I think there is no significant growth but the hair is looking more mature and natural

I havent had time to take specific hair pics, but I have general pics I will place soon when I come back from vacation

I have been extremely busy , I think I wish that some areas were fuller. I am 90% satisfied but I wont be greedy for now.

Here is my update almost 2 years later

-Yes I am very happy with Dr Umar

- I was lucky to have a lot of donor areas...

- my procedure made my hair 3 times thicker

- the hair quality improved in past year

- I still bald spots that I have to carefully comb over or use some topick or wax or gel or something to cover it up

- the crown I wish he put more hair there it looks thin

- 2 areas behind my front hairline still look very thin

overall I think my procedure is 80% success. Dr Umar treated me very well. I recommend him highly. He said he will give me a mini session to fix my old scar and add some hair to defective areas for free...I just couldnt schedule it in past year since I have no time plus I am afraid I will have to shave my hair again which is NOT what I want at all at this point

Here are some new pics

would any of the guys here who have done this multiple times recommend me to actually be greedy and fix my few areas that way I do not have to worry about hair even when wet or even when not styled, and be able to keep it short . Or should I forget it?

secondtime,

Man alive! You look fantastic now. Dr. Umar did you proud. I haven't followed your thread or progress. I just saw the thread today and compared your before pics to your most recent update pic. Personally, I would leave things just as they are and keep your hair at the length it is in your most recent pic, i.e., slightly longer than in some of your earlier pics. It looks very appealing and utterly natural this way. I don't think you need or necessarily even want more density because the appearance of just the slightest amount of thinning in those spots (and I do mean "slightest") is completely age appropriate currently and for the future and contributes to the naturalness of your great head of hair. Congrats.
