Senior Member RCWest Posted August 30, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted August 30, 2010 Vitamin K is known as the coagulation vitamin. It helps the blood clot and wounds to heal. I wonder if this would be helpful to take before and immediately after a HT procedure? Has this ever come up? I've had slightly below platelets in the past and my procedures took slightly longer than they should have. I wonder if this could be of help? Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? Regular Member HTInitiate Posted September 16, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted September 16, 2010 Yes it helps. I had started drinking Kale juice (very high in Vitamin K) a week before surgery and did not bleed much. Dr. Feller (my doctor) even found this concept interesting. P.S Talk to your doctor before you start this though, for other drug interactions etc.

Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted September 17, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted September 17, 2010 Given the small slit sizes we use now, I find Vitamin K of no use, and possibly increasing the risk of deep venous thrombosis(leg blood clots) in patients who are sitting still for hours on end. I would advise our patients NOT to use it. Way more important is just avoiding blood thinners: advil, aspirin, alcohol, green or white tea, herbs, vitamins and especially vitamin E. And give your doctor a history of any bleeding problems PREOP. 4% of society has a mild bleeding disorder called von willobrands disease. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Back when I had my surgeries, they recommended a CBC blood test. That was when they used larger slits. They checked for HIV also. Senior Member Swimmy Posted September 18, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted September 18, 2010 Your body only needs a small amount. So you don't want to take a lot. 90 mcg daily is all you should need. As said it has a great synergy with D3. Its very cheap together and helps to stop hair loss
