Senior Member Jotronic Posted June 24, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted June 24, 2010 This local patient came to see Dr. Hasson in September, 2009. Dr. Hasson and his team transplant 5372 grafts in one session. The patient and Dr. Hasson planned for two sessions for as much coverage as possible with the first session focusing on density in the front half. This is a perfect example of the "one and done approach" as the front half is transplanted one time with desired density and coverage. Session two will address the crown only. Senior Member Fingers Crossed Posted June 26, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted June 26, 2010 This is a very nice result Joe. This patient received an age appropriate hairline and the scar is almost non existent. Kudos to Dr. Hasson and his entire team My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Hasson
Regular Member hairshare Posted June 26, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted June 26, 2010 Excellent result, this patient looks like a new man! Does Dr. Hasson have a number of grafts in mind pertaining to how much this patient will need for good coverage in the crown area, and does this patient have the grafts available? Also, will the crown be dusted lightly or will Dr. Hasson go for density? My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Wong
Senior Member Jotronic Posted June 28, 2010 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 28, 2010 Thanks all for your comments. Hairshare, Dr. Hasson thinks that this patient has about 3000 grafts available for a 2nd session. This will mean he can expect moderate density in the crown which I would describe as a bit heavier than a light dusting. Senior Member TC17 Posted June 28, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted June 28, 2010 Joe, What are the main benefits to tackling the front first and then the crown in a subsequent surgery, as opposed to spreading the 5,300 grafts over the entire scalp in the first surgery and using the second surgery to add density throughout? The only things I can think of are lessening the risk of transecting grafts and shockloss in the recipient site, and maybe a patients preference. TC17, I know you asked Joe, but I believe the advantage of covering the front first (instead of spreading 5000+ grafts over entire scalp) lies only in patient satisfaction, who will be happier this way. 5,300 grafts create a significant change in the patient appearance if they are used entirely at the front. On the contrary if spread out, he may have a better overall coverage, but he won't be as happy when he looks at the mirror.
