Question for Physicians

Is the underlying mechanism behind diminished libido in some finasteride users known? Does DHT itself somehow mediate sexual interest or sexual response? Why would some finasteride users report increased sexual interest, while others report loss of libido? I've tried to find information on this subject and haven't turned up anything other than what is reported in PDR.

Thanks,

Paul

It is well documented that Propecia usage does actually elevate your testosterone/DHT ratio. In some individuals this will cause a increase in libido and in others a potential decrease. This is just another example of how the same medication can effect people differently. However, if someone who is taking Propecia and feels as if they are having a real negative side effect, they can just stop taking the medication and they will return to normal function. There are no known permanent side effects.
