Senior Member wantego Posted July 19, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted July 19, 2008 I have like 2 small scabs let. I have followed my doctors directions to the letter in regards to washing, and vit e oil. I dont see any hair coming through the scab so I dont know if grafts are under it or not. I hope they are. I'm just a bit concerned that the scab will stop hair from growing in that area. Any wisdom? 4374 grafts-7/2/2008-Dr Rahal 485 singles 2336 doubles 1526 triples 16 quads 9809 total hairs
Senior Member hatrick Posted July 19, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted July 19, 2008 your worrying too much. the hair won't start growing for 3-4 months anyway, and by that time the scab will be long gone. Senior Member Smoothy Posted July 20, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2008 Scabs do not cause hair stop growing. The hair "bulb" is under the surface the scalp is basically surface level. However, scabbing will slow down the regrowth thus many surgeons suggest trying to keep scabs moist with saline or graphcite first week post op to lessen the scabbing. Also when scabbing occurs, let it heal/disolve naturally-- as if you assist too much you might be at risk of light scarring.
