Bill - Seemiller
it all depends....on average, at 9 months you are at 90%, but some still have more growth up to a year to 15 months. Bill
Senior Member arfy Posted August 30, 2005 Senior Member Share Posted August 30, 2005 If it's a conventional transplant then you're probably looking at all the grafts (no new ones will pop up as latecomers, most likely). However you can probably expect that the grafted hairs you already do see will get somewhat sturdier. That extra diameter per follicle will provide better coverage. Sometimes people refer to this as your hair transplant 'maturing'. It's not going to look incredibly different but it should continue to show a subtle improvement, sometimes even up to the 1.5 or 2 year point. A (very!) generalized timeline of what can be expected: 0-3 months - grafts shed, recipient area heals, patient looks much like pre-op 4-5 months - transplanted hairs begin to sprout. within this time, up to 50% of the transplanted hair can appear. 6-7 months - 50% to 70% growth and maturation of shaft diameter. 8-9 months - 70% to 90% growth and maturation of shaft diameter. 10-12 months and sometimes beyond - transplant grows to maturation. Some things to keep in mind: 1) EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. While it is great to keep up with other patients, your growth timeline will almost certainly vary. 2) Subsequent procedures tend to grow in more slowly. -Robert ------------------------------ Check out the results of my surgical hair restoration performed by Dr. Jerry Cooley by visiting my Hair Loss Weblog
