Why I like to dense pack

Recommended Posts

This patient is packed at about 40 grafts per square cm. The hairline is varied, although I admit it doesn't show as much on a jpg photo as it does in real life. Since this patient has VERY thick coarse hair I didn't vary the hairline as much as if he had finer hair. I will post photos of this kind of patient in the future.

If you look at the photo where this patient is holding a mirror there is nothing to draw attention to the shape of the hairline, the ultimate sign of a natural result. Remember, he is only at 7 months and as such is only about 70% grown out at this point.

I appreciate doctors posting their work on here where people can comment because no matter how good it is there is always some room to strive to produce the best results. I'd say this work looks well above average but the crowd here is full of perfectionists (which is definitely good). The nice thing is that if a Dr doesn't take things personally and views the posts as constructive critism he can use the opinions to perfect his work until people are drooling over the pictures and singing his name in the streets. I think that could make the difference between the guy that remains an above average surgeon with solid results and one that becomes "the best".

That being said I agree that it appears that the lighting and angle of the pictures affect how the hairline looks in the closer frontal shots. Either way if the area was entirely bald the work made a huge improvement in the gentleman's appearance. From what we have to work with the hairline might be a little too "perfect" and not quite irregular enough but I really doubt that it would draw any attention or look unnatural to the casual person that met him.

I have Coarse dark hair and I agree with Dr.Alan Feller, that with this hair type you can't place graft's in as much of a free flowing pattern as with finer lighter hair.

With hair like mine if you try to place a few random hairs here and there to give a wispy look, it stand's out like a sore thumb. With dark wirey hair, You have to stick to a more well defined hairline pattern.

I think the pic's look great. I would like to have a hairline like that.

YES, YES YES..This is a hard crowd to please...They know and see all, but this is a hairline I would feel fine with...

Good work Dr.Alan Feller, and thank's for posting.
