Regular Member tuscansun Posted September 18, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted September 18, 2007 Hi, I am 27th day Post Op. It's been 2 days i have been back to work and it's not that bad what I thought it to be. Not even single person at my work was able to notice or make out I had a HT. Even my roomate also wasn't able to make out and he doesn't know I had HT. I am only concerned about my scabs in the receipient area. I still have scabs and almost 50-60% of the hairs are intact. I tried to massage gently scabs but sometimes I could see some bleeding. So i am trying not to agressive on the scabs nemore. Any suggestions... 1500 graft Dr Ron Shapiro

Senior Member nobuzz4me Posted September 18, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted September 18, 2007 tuscansun, There is no way you still have scabs in the recipient area after 27 days. You must be confusing the new grafts sites for scabs. Even if you tried not to massage off scabs they would sluff off on their own, most wounds heal within ten days or less, particularly with these small incisions. Senior Member MrJobi Posted September 19, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted September 19, 2007 T If you have scabs you need to do a better job of massaging the scalp in the shower with Shampoo. I hope yo do not have scabs in the donor area? You might want to talk to your doc, this is not normal .. Bill - Seemiller
tuscansun, Massage the scabs in a circular motion with your fingertips in the shower (with shampoo is best) for at least 10 minutes 2 times a day. Do not force them off and do not use your nails. In a few days, the majority of the scabs should be gone. Also, do not panic if you see any hairs in the scabs as this is normal since the majority of your transplanted hair should have shed or be shedding anyway. As long as you don't draw blood, you can be rest assured that you haven't lost a graft. Best wishes, Bill

Senior Member new2thissite Posted November 20, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted November 20, 2008 John, I am 10 days post op and was planning to start the massaging. What do you think of that time frame? My Hair Loss Weblog - Hair Transplant with Dr. Bernstein
