Should I get more aggressive with my scabs/hair washing?

Because I have read that the follicles arnt firmly in place till the 10th day I still have not been under the shower. 7 days and I still use the cup w/shampoo with gentle patting and circular fingertip massages.

 

Do I need t get the scabs off so the follicles can breath or grow or whatever? Sooner the scabs off the better?

Well, i've been through this three times, and was more liberal with instructions the first two times and more careful with the third.

 

However, this is the first time that i did not loose a graft, that i am aware of so with that said,

 

I would use a cup for about 10 days before getting under the shower imo.

 

No need to rush.

 

Some Dr's (armani, rahal) are very careful in there post op, so you see big crusts 2 to 3 weeks after surgery, but this is extreme.

 

I like the middle ground on this.

The grafts are rock solid in place after 7 days. It is necessary IMHO to get them off as soon as possible after this period, even if it means washing with force.

Hello ThininHouston,

 

Althought you cannot be called "thin" any more. You should have started to use the ointment in the packets we gave you on the 4th day post op, about 1-2 hrs before shampooing your hair. That is to moisten the "scabs". I don't think you have much scabbing any way. You can start being more agressive with the shampooing, employing your fingertips and using the shower head to rinse directly, not full force.
