Regular Member bUZZED Posted June 19, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted June 19, 2008 Hi, this is my first post in here. I found this site about 6 months ago and it's packed full of some great information so thanks to all for that. Anyway, after a lot of consideration I've made up my mind and decided to get a HT. Now the hard part..deciding on a surgeon. I've emailed 3 surgeons in the last 2 weeks and I find it strange I have had only one reply. The reply came from a clinic that is not recommended on here ! No reply from the other two. I emailed a second time...no reply. Hmm, whats up? Are these surgeons so busy they take an age to make contact you? Will I be waiting a very long time to get a recommended surgeon to do a procedure?

Senior Member hatrick Posted June 19, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted June 19, 2008 it's strange you have not heard back from the clinics you emailed. Most clinics have staff just for answering phone calls and emails and scheduling consultations. I would try contacting them by phone. You will most likely have a waiting period for your surgery. Could be a few weeks or a few months. My Hair Loss Weblog - Hair Transplant with Dr. Tessler
Regular Member bUZZED Posted June 19, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 19, 2008 Tnx hatrick, I thought it was strange too. I have emailed dr.feller twice, and have emailed dr.de reys twice. in the last week. I know dr.de reys is not a coalition memeber here but still has recieved good reviews. The only one that has replied is DHI and from what I can tell they are to be avoided at all cost ! In fact they have emailed me back a few times and rang me twice. Now, if only I could get same reaction from the recommended clinics I would be happy !
Senior Member TheEmperor Posted June 19, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted June 19, 2008 Call! The tire kickers send email. If you are serious you will call and speak to them in person. My Hair Loss Web Site - Hair Transplant with Dr. Wong
Regular Member bUZZED Posted June 19, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 19, 2008 So if they think only "tyrekickers" email why bother having that facility on their website...? Hmm strange way to do buisness these days..especially when calling from outside the country don't you think? Also, find it strange that ppl would "tyrekick" when it comes to surgery! Its not the same as thinking of buying a new LCD TV is it! I am 100% serious and think its very bad form not to be contacted / replied to ! Don't you agree ? The last time you bought a car, did you email the dealer or did you call/visit? When you _begin_ the HT research process, you are only inclined to send email. Once you are ready to make a move, you will call. A clinic that is booked 3-5 months in advance really doesnt need to sift through the inbox for the 1-in-1000 potential customer. The majority of emailers are guys without the cash, who havent done the research and need more handholding than its worth, or who are too young for the procedure. If price of an international call is a problem, then you must fall under the "without the cash" category. Every clinic that I called knew I was serious and qualified. I did not waste time with email. And if timliness is so important (its only been two days), then calling should be what you do. Regular Member bUZZED Posted June 19, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 19, 2008 Ok then fair enough. Point taken. I'll give them a call. Many thanks for the response.
Bill - Seemiller
Buzzed, Have you tried using our free online consult form? Many members and prospective patients have had great success with this. You may also want to try calling them (as other members suggested). Sometimes they are a bit slower on email, but most have someone answering the phone on the other end immediately. If I can help get you in contact with a few of our surgeons, let me know. Best wishes, Bill
Regular Member bUZZED Posted June 20, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 20, 2008 Bill, Thanks for you're reply. Yes I have done an online consult through this forum to both surgeons mentioned above. I got no reply so after a few days I went directly to their websites and did the same....Still no reply. So, as was advised by TheEmperor, I rang Prohairclinic just before lunchtime today. The receptionist assured me that Bart would contact me a.s.a.p. I guess he was busy today because I haven't received a call back. No problem. Hey, I'm sure I may get a call in a few days but I still do find it a bit annoying that I'm having to wait almost 2 weeks to just to talk to someone. Surely this isn't the norm though ..or is it? Do they think I'm a tyrekicker?? Is it that DHI are better at responding or maybe they're just not very busy? And on the flipside, are the top surgeons just way too busy and not able to reply for a weeks? Maybe you can recommend another surgeon that specialises in FUE? I live in Ireland and travel is not a problem. I dont't want a (very visable) scar as I want to have the option to buzz my hair to 3mm...blade 1. Or is the tricophytic method worth considering if I shave my head to 3mm...very noticeable scar ? I really appreciate any input. Many thanks Kind regards
Dr. Timothy Carman
bUZZED- While using the tricophytic technique in closing the donor area, even in the best of hands under ideal conditions, will certainly help minimize the appearance of the scar, you will still be able to detect it's presence if you "buzz" your hair any less than, say 1cm. You may want to consider FUE extraction, which CAN be less detectable when performed by a surgeon well-trained and experienced in this method. Bill - Seemiller
Buzzed, It sounds a bit unusual that you wouldn't get a reply after several days however, it might be best to contact the clinics directly by phone and let them know you filled out a virtual consultation on the Hair Transplant Network and are awaiting their reply. You should get someone on the phone immediately when you call, and I'm sure they'll be able to help you. If I can help you get in contact wtih them directly, send me a private message. Best wishes, Bill
