Stopping Minoxidil?

Ive been using 5% Minoxidil once a day for 3 years now, I also take 1/4 proscar everyday.

While browsing another hair forum, a question was posed to a doctor which goes like

'I've been using monoxidil for several years, but I use it every other night. I've been on Propecia for almost two years. If I stop the monoxidil will the hair stopped by that drug fall out even though I will continue to take Propecia?'

The reply for the doctor was

Usings Minoxidil every other day, or even once day, probably doesn't do anything. I would just stop it and continue Propecia.

Sincerely, Dr. Bernstein

Is this true. Or does Minoxidil help? In my experience I think it does help but it could be just trained thinking, any advice?

I think Dr. Bernstein is correct. I have given up on Rogine, although I only applied it once daily. For me, rogine was not the solution. Although i have noticed hair growth, it was hardly significant. About once every three weeks, many new grown hair would fall off. And when I wash my hair, many hair would still fall out. Since using propecia, my hair fall out has decreased significantly...however, I just haven't seen significant growth...but i have been on propecia for only about two months...i am going to see what happens...

Personally i would suggest you stick with at least 2% minoxidil everyday. It is a good growth stimulant.

Doctors cant make any money any more on promoting or prescribing minoxidil since its over the counter, and available at walmart or target for 30 bucks for a 3 months upply. So of course they will recommend propecia only, to make money.

10 Years ago, they all recommended minoxidil. But since its no longer profitable, all the sudden its not effective.

Even if its just keeping hairs on 'life support' its well worth the effort of a spray per day.
