Dr. Carman/Female Hairline Recreation Following Facelift Procedure- 3458 Total FU Grafts

Recommended Posts

This 66 year old female came to us for revision of her facial hair line, which, as a result of multiple facelift procedures, had been moved posteriorly and superiorly, relative to it's naturally occurring presurgery position. Specifically, then, she had alopecia and scarring from those procedures which had resulted in:

1) Receded frontal and bitemporal hairline;

2) Elevation and recession of temporal points bilaterally;

3) Recession of bilateral sideburn areas.

4) Scarring/thinning in areas posterior to sideburn areas.

As this was not a case of FPHL, she had an excellent donor supply. From a donor ellipse measuring 29 x 1.4 cm2 we utilized all FU grafts in the following distribution: 3458 Total; 1's = 1129; 2's=2166; 3's=163. There was acceptable closure tension using the tricophytic technique.

Dr. Carman,

Thanks for posting. Her progress is just what I'd expect it to be at this early stage in the restoration process. The placement of the follicular units and hairline reconstruction looks terrific. I hope you'll share her final results with us after she's all growin in :-)

All the Best,

Bill

Excellent work Dr. Carman. I am constantly amazed at facelift results... Having done more than 3000 lifts, I favor a conservative approach, but there is a segment of the population who desires radical lifting; and then thinks the results are worth the 20k price. Often times their hairline, sideburns, and normal facial features are very distorted. You did a great job bringing a naturalness back to this patient. Lets hope she doesn't "lift them away" with a redo in 7 years... or you'll have another case to do.

Good job.
