I want to thank all the participants that have posted to mine and Pat for your return e-mail. Arfy you had mentioned in one of your posts that you had a scalp reduction. What have you done about the scarring?I live in the SF bay area and have scheduled an appointment with NHI to have them look at this mess.I am so cynical at this point. Perhaps they can excise some of my "floating" misplaced plugs and improve my hairline a bit but anticipating the expense ,the pain ,hiding the surgery, and the waiting, all of which I've been through so many times before has got me down. I would like to hear from any of you that have had corrective procedures, particularly with scalp reductions. Are there any of you out there who are wearing hairpieces to cover scarring? This whole hairpiece thing is another scam on the hair challenged. I am on my fourth try with as many "hair specialists" and they have all been a joke.I think I owe whatever piece of mind I have in my very social life to the baseball cap! Thanks for any advice or comments. Also Pat or others, are there any surgeons in SF that you could recommend other than NHI?

Administrators Pat - Community Publisher Posted November 2, 2001 Administrators Share Posted November 2, 2001 Welcome to the group. I?‚??m glad it has been helpful (and perhaps hopeful) for you. You may want to visit Dr. Kabaker in Oakland. He is well respected and has a great deal of experience with scalp surgery. Best wishes - keep us posted - Pat Thanks for reading this post. Guest
Pat, Checked out his web site and it was filled with positive direction toward reductions ,flaps extentions, etc.Haven't these procedures been found to be "medevial" at this point in hair restoration technology. Has anyone been happy with a flap ,reduction, extention,or other dramatic procedure? Still hunting for info. from other patients who have had corrective surgery or doctors who have succesfully made a difference .
Regular Member Jonny Posted November 5, 2001 Regular Member Share Posted November 5, 2001 I was a little confused about this doctor Pat told you to go see. I've never heard of him before. I would hope Pat would check out ANY doctor before recommending to someone. Whether the doctor is a paying sponsor of this site or not. It's NOT a good idea to recommend a doctor who is not thoroughly checked out to anyone looking for good solid information - especially from someone like Pat. Just because the doctor isn't sponsoring this site, doesn't mean the approval process to recommend the doctor should be any different. If this doctor is still doing the old flaps and scalp reductions he should be off ALL lists.
Administrators Pat - Community Publisher Posted November 5, 2001 Administrators Share Posted November 5, 2001 Johnny, I was not recommending Dr. Kabaker for hair transplants, only that he be considered if the man above is looking for corrective scalp surgery/scar revision. And with any and all recommendations or suggestions, a person still needs to do their own due diligence, always. Pat Thanks for reading this post.
