Senior Member Matt Skiba Posted November 1, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted November 1, 2007 I remember reading about a few people who say they apply minoxidil before they take a shower. What I'm wondering is if this is effective at all. I know that some preparations contain retinoic acid (Retin-A) that is supposed to help make it absorb better. So is there anyone who does it this way and if it reduces effectiveness at all? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regular Member Female_Hair_loss Posted November 1, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted November 1, 2007 If my information and understanding of Rogaine are correct, it takes 4 hours for Rogaine to work. In other words, you need to have Rogaine on your scalp for a minimum of 4 hours. Putting it on before a shower would then, naturally, defeat the purpose. Senior Member hoose Posted November 2, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted November 2, 2007 Maybe you mean right after a shower; I heard your scalp is more permeable then so the minoxidel is better absorbed; you need to make sure your scalp isn't wet or it will dillute the minoxidil; I don't use minoxidil so I do not know first hand but I remember reading threads about it. smithmark
Hair loss could be due to many causes, inherited, being number one. Other reasons include certain drugs, hormonal modifies, treatments, salty water; for bathing and for drinking, makeup and dandruff. Men are more suffering from hair loss as compared to women. Hair loss will be in men and not in women due to genetic reasons.
wandering leaf
yes, Smith, you may right! but here I'ld say that thre are some causes of hair loss that are same in both men n women; like stress is a big factor and Hormonal changes. both these factors effect healthy hairn in both genders. Senior Member nobuzz4me Posted December 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted December 4, 2007 I think right after a shower makes sense since your pores will be open from the hot water. The only problem I had with it is that it leaves my hair too greasy. I do think I had some efect using it that way though. The routine is tiresome. Senior Member notgoing2gobald Posted December 4, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted December 4, 2007 I believe it says right on the box not to wash your hair for at least four hours, doesn't it? Why would you put it on before you take a shower?
