I'm about a month post op and just wondering if this photo is showing shedding.
The first photo is 2 weeks post op and the 2nd is from today, 4 weeks. I was thinking that the shed would all happen at once, not in patches. So please let me know if this looks like a shed or something else.
Also, I know that shedding happens from 2-6 weeks post op, but how long does the actual shedding go on for on average? 1-2 weeks?
Hello, I received my first transplant from Dr. Dorin in New York City in July 2014. nearly 2400 grafts total including the crown, temples and front hairline. Within 3 months I was regrowing hair and as of May I had nice coverage and a noticeable, natural difference in all areas. In the photos you can see the pre-op receded areas and the line that they transplanted up to in the front and then the fully grown transplanted hair in May. However since June I began to lose some hair only in the temple areas, as you can see in the last two photos. Not original hair in back of the transplanted hair, but clearly some of the transplanted hair had shed. The doctor confirmed that even lines/strips of healthy grafts can be seen on my scalp next to scalp lines with no grafts where the grafts used to be. There is no scalp issue or other visible reason for the shedding grafts. My doctor wanted me to take a blood test for any deficiencies or issues that may account for this. It is possible the hair will grow back since I had positive fast growth in all transplanted areas, or I may begin to lose more of the transplanted hair. It is frustrating since I spent good money on this plus I would want another transplant if I experience hair loss in other areas. I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced loss of transplanted hair (not in the first three months which is normal) but long after the grafts have taken root and successfully regrown. If so what happened and what did you do about it?
Thanks so much
Just joined (finally). This forum has been the biggest help the past few years. Its through it I found my superb Surgeon Dr Path in Bangkok.
Ok, quick simple question. There is a lot of mixed responses when I search it. I just want to ask if its completely normal for hair to start shedding at around day 8? I am 10 days post Op and noticed first shed of a transplanted hair around Day 7/8 and now each day am seeing more hair shed when I wash.
Have been following all the right instructions and have been extremely gentle when washing. Have had no head bumps, no bleeding, all has been so great post op. I have just read on many different web sites that the transplanted hair usually doesn't shed until after 2 weeks. I searched at least 15 different post care instructions from many transplant clinics all over the world and they said typically it starts at 2 weeks.
If someone could please help put my over thinking mind at ease. I am sure its OK as no "bulbs" or "grafts" have come out just tiny hairs shedding. Long question shortened - Is shedding transplanted hair only after one week/8 days too soon?
First of all its been just under 4 weeks now since my temple/ hairline lowering transplant.. the shockloss seems to be still happening (been doing so for about 2 weeks now) but hopefully will slow down as been 2 weeks of it. Right my main worry here is should a shed hair graft look like the pic I have included or is the black bulb at the end bad news? Quite a few of my fallen hairs seem to have this black bit at the end... this worries me.
Another thing is I have washed my hair everyday since with the baby shampoo at the front and my normal Alpecin at the back. I have what I think (hope) is a pimple thats a bit red abd bloody the last day or two... I touched it gently and its actually quite painfull, like a stinging sensation. Is this a pimple of a lost graft? i can't honestly see how it would be a lost graft though as I have been extra careful, even wearing socks on my hands when sleeping.
Another quick question I have is I have never used Rogaine before and thinking of starting it to make my hair lost through the shockloss to all grow back healthy and hopefully at a better rate... is it a bad time for me to start in Rogaine having never used it before?
Really worried, someone offer some wisdom please.
I hope my pics help.
