Hello Guys, I had my hair transplant about 2 months ago... almost +%90 of my transplanted hair are already shed. I started to notice dry, flaky and pimply(just a few) scalp since week 5-6. I finally had to squeeze them to since they were irritated and felt bumpy. some blood, discharge and the hair came out as I applied some pressure. Do you think I might have damaged the actual follicle? my second concern is that I quite often find myself touching my scalp using my nails to pull out crust along with the hair stuck to it. I always see hair along with the dried skin that bothers me alot. i am afraid that I may have actually pulled out the whole graft. I would really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions on this.
A common observation amongst patients during the early phase of hair growth following surgical hair restoration (either FUT or FUE) is ingrown hair follicles. The "pimples" that some (but not all) patients experience generally represent focal inflammation (folliculitis) where a newly-ingrowing hairs are beginning to surface.
Patients can often feel reassured knowing that these generally precede more apparent hair growth over the following weeks and months. They can be seen in both the recipient area (where transplanted hairs are coming in) or donor region (especially in FUE where any residual hair fragments may be coming in). They may be more commonly observed in zones where the angle of hair implantation is the sharpest angle (e.g. the vertex or crown as seen in the attached image)
In general, a simple cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol can be used to rub on each pimple. The microabrasion allows the nearly-ingrowing hair to surface and resume growth. It's relatively rare that an antibiotic is required, but even a one-week course of antibiotic can have a positive impact. The ultimate appearance is not impacted by the presence absence of a few "pimples" and patients should simply be aware that they generally represent an early phase of growth.
I've been using minoxidil and nizoral for around 2 months. Today I woke up with a very painful pimple/zit on the hairline at the left temple.
I dont ever remember getting acne on my head before.
Could this be a side effect of using Kirkland Minoxidil 5% or Nizoral shampoo?
Is it a positive sign of hair regrowth?
Or is it an allergic reaction to applying a topical solution?
First of all its been just under 4 weeks now since my temple/ hairline lowering transplant.. the shockloss seems to be still happening (been doing so for about 2 weeks now) but hopefully will slow down as been 2 weeks of it. Right my main worry here is should a shed hair graft look like the pic I have included or is the black bulb at the end bad news? Quite a few of my fallen hairs seem to have this black bit at the end... this worries me.
Another thing is I have washed my hair everyday since with the baby shampoo at the front and my normal Alpecin at the back. I have what I think (hope) is a pimple thats a bit red abd bloody the last day or two... I touched it gently and its actually quite painfull, like a stinging sensation. Is this a pimple of a lost graft? i can't honestly see how it would be a lost graft though as I have been extra careful, even wearing socks on my hands when sleeping.
Another quick question I have is I have never used Rogaine before and thinking of starting it to make my hair lost through the shockloss to all grow back healthy and hopefully at a better rate... is it a bad time for me to start in Rogaine having never used it before?
Really worried, someone offer some wisdom please.
I hope my pics help.
