My Story

  1. Hello friends!!! This is Ashish Joneja age 40 years, businessman, from Delhi. Like many of you I had the irony of baldness. After a good amount of hardwork I could establish myself in my non familial Pharma business. Like any young man I chased my dreams of establishing my name amongst the top names in my field. I am a social person who wants to enjoy the company of relatives, friends, partying with pals. While I was busy in establishing my business, I started loosing my hair from frontal head which gradually progressed. I tried many things including all types of head massage oil, Ayurvedic stuff, Finax tablet, Minoxidil lotion and many indigenous things. Very soon I realised that in my case nothing is working and the baldness is progressing at it’s will! I sought many consultations for this hair issue. I was prescribed medicines and advised to go for Mesotherapy and other treatments. All the efforts used to rouse some hope in me but later alas! Everything proved to be futile.’ After tired of everything I lost the hope of getting my hair back. Gradually I put on weight and became regressive in my social circle. Even though every thing in my life was ok; good business, beautiful kids, caring wife, blessings of elder brother, bhabi and parents, there was something that I was lacking in the depth of my heart and mind. In the meantime my cousin brother started reading about hair loss treatments for his baldness. He read a lot about hair transplant procedures in the net. Also find many clinic for hair transplant in Delhi. He realised that hair transplant results vary a lot depending upon the expertise of the treating doctor. He passed on the information that FUT is a cut technique and now better techniques are available. Even my common sense said to me that the end result depends upon the expertise of the doctor. We get loads of advertisements everyday in each newspaper about hair transplant centres in delhi ncr including packages like Make my trip! Since hair transplant is a surgery and it involves a sizeable money I was not moving any step further. I had a doubt about the genuinity of the procedure because of so much commercial advertisements. Even though I hail from pharma business I was dubious about choosing a hair transplant centre. During my business trips I came across one of my associates with a sudden look change after a 6 months of gap! I jumped to ask him what has happened to his hair! He revealed the story that he has got a hair transplant done on the frontal bald scalp 5 months back and hair are growing. I checked his donor area which was the backside of the head as well as the transplanted area. All was well. No marks on either area and my friend had no issues of pain or any problem. I took the name and contact informations of the Doctor from him. Fixed one appointment with the Doctor over phone for a meeting. The meeting was cordial. The Doctor was beaming with scientific knowledge. He revealed the limitations of the procedure. The most important thing which was conspicuous was that the Doctor was not pushing me for the surgery. He was giving me a holistic approach and trying to educate me about the scientific aspects of the procedure and left me to take the decision. Since I had already seen the result of his work and now seen the non commercial approach of this poised and confident doctor I intuitively realised that this is the Doctor ! My search was over. My decision made me travel away from Delhi to a distant city where the Doctor was established at that point of time. I should admit here that I being a little sensitive person I was expecting a lot of pain during the procedure! The Doctor and his team explained the details of the hair line, the position of it, the artistry of the design, practical hair density in transplantation. After proper scientific documentation of the pre treatment pictures the procedure started under local anaesthesia. I had the feeling of initial few pricks which anyone can negotiate the whole procedure was painless. I received nearly 3000 grafts on that single day and travelled back to Delhi at night. I was getting proper follow up calls from the team and Doctor as well for the initial 7 days. After around 3 weeks a lot of transplanted hair started dropping! I was a little panicked but the Doctor assured me that the roots are inside my scalp and they will produce a new hair soon. Then the period of status quo maintained till the 4th month. I was getting calls and mails from the office of the Doctor about my wellbeing. But I was having my fingers crossed because I was almost like before the procedure! I got a call from the Doctor after the end of the 4th month about my hair. By this time I had grown a lot of hair and they all were growing and giving me a new look everyday! I gave this good news to the Doctor. I got what I wanted after completion of 6 months ! New look! New confidence! A new life! The most amazing thing was that no one in my close circle could make out that I had planted hair. They were so natural in arrangement ! With such a natural looking hair and confidence I decided to loose my extra kgs so that I could get my body shaped up once again. Truly speaking the new hair gave me a renewed lease of life with a lot of enthusiasm! I again started socialising with a lot of energy and enjoyment. Everything I pursued in my business life was full of enjoyment. I started loving myself! I became stricter in healthy habits of food and exercises. My whole family started following my habits! Since my baldness was of advanced grade the top of the head was not covered in the first sitting, even though it was covered well with the grown hair. After around 8 months I decided to do some more plantation on the top. This time another 3000 odd grafts were planted. Some 1000 grafts were also taken from my beard. Again another 2300 grafts were planted on my crown to cover it. So in total I received close to 8300 hair grafts on my bald scalp area. And after 6 months of my last sitting I am writing this post for fellow bald friends. Over the last 2 years I came across a lot of people who were really searching for hair transplant in India. The amount of advertisements has increased and so also the confusion regarding the quality and the pricing. One Advt says they charge 50 thousand rupees for whole scalp and yet another one has Diwali offers! Depending upon the grades in the quality consciousness of the person he will get allured and confused in the myriads of websites, discounts and newspaper advertisements! I started getting a lot of calls from my circle about my story in hair transplant. Believe me they were not as lucky as I was in choosing a doctor. Most of them were in the higher strata of the society with good business. They all were confused! But when they all saw me in person and heard me speaking about the procedure they all got confidence. They gave one encouraging feedback to me that I am good in giving the scientific informations and clearing their doubts. Most of them were thankful for the informations I passed on to them. I felt better that even though I am not a doctor, people are trusting me, thanking me for my invaluable help! There were many well established national level businessmen and page 3 personalities who got the counselling from me and are grateful to me for my advise! All these encouraged me to take up this non commercial venture to guide prospective hair transplant patients to take decide upon hair transplant in India. Since hair transplant is a surgery and we all have a limited source of donor hair on our body for one life time we should do it at the right place in the first go. I have seen many people getting their donor hair damaged at wrong, inexperienced hands because they found the cheaper option. Second thing in hair restoration is the natural look. Only growing hair is half of the story! The most important is the natural look of the transplanted hair. Only an experienced thinking doctor can do it. One more important thing in hair restoration is a holistic approach to baldness. Some times the early baldness does not require a hair transplant, only medication help it. And in most of the cases hair transplant in addition to medications to prevent the ongoing hair loss is required. To take judgements upon these issues needs a lot of experience by the doctors. It is obvious that a doctor who does hair transplant as a part time work in addition to other cosmetic practice will have less expertise than a doctor who does only hair restoration. At many places the doctors don’t do the procedure themselves! It is done by non qualified people, mostly technicians under the umbrella of the Doctor. These centres usually allure patients with a lot of advertisements for offers, discounts and packages! So, it is very important that patients should meet the treating Doctor before getting the procedure. The bottom line in choosing a doctor is to get a lot of references of people who have got the surgery done from that place. If they have many happy patients then they will be providing a lot of numbers. If these patients are willing to talk to new patients and meet also then that shows that they are happy patients. I volunteer myself to help any person who want to decide upon hair restoration.
  2. Had a procedure done on 08/01/2017 after slowly losing my hair for 20 years... I made my decision to go with Dr. Gabel after reading patient reviews and cross checking information for dozens of hours, over several months. Correctly doing your homework before choosing the right surgeon is very time intensive but critical… So let me cut to the chase with the piece of advice I would give to myself if I could go back in the past for one minute and allow me to get back all these hours I spent combing through blogs, forums and other websites: “Contact the Gabel Center with your pictures and questions, he will answer you with his assessment and answers, possible medical solutions like Finasteride, Minoxidil, low level laser therapy, and a potential solution via surgery. Schedule the pre-op appointment and surgery, then when the time comes, travel to Hillsboro and stay at a hotel for the week. Everything is going to be more than OK… Dr. Gabel is not going to sugar coat it or promise a hairline down to your eyebrows (which would be an aberration anyway), he will help you in making the right medical and aesthetic choice for your face, age and expectations… The surgery is going to be ridiculously successful so go for it!” Details of my procedure: FUT: 2067 grafts + FUE: 302 graft, same session, took a few hours, lunch was offered by Dr. Gabel, staff really nice and sharp. To know what to expect during the procedure, make sure you watch this video of Dr. Gabel’s modus operandi… from 2010 but still very relevant: look for "Hair Transplant - Real Patient Testimonials and Results by Dr. Steve Gabel" in Youtube => I saw it after the surgery and what he describes is exactly what happened. The difference is that now there is an Alexa speaker in the room and you can ask for any music you want Fast-forward 6 months post surgery… Basically, my hairline was gone, and now it's back. I’m absolutely pleased with the results! The pictures speak for themselves. Also I'm taking Finasteride 1mg once a day, using Minoxidil 5% twice a day (on the whole scalp) and I'm using a Capillus 202 every other day for 15 mins…
  3. Hello all, I just went in for my 6 month update with Dr. Kongkiat Laorwong in Bangkok, Thailand. As you can see from the attached pictures (right after surgery and at 6 months), there are areas where grafts have not seemed to grow. He also confirmed this and stated I should wait 4-5 more months before any touch up. As I am not sure if I even want to go through another procedure at this point, I agreed. I just can't honestly tell if there will be any significant growth, especially in the missing hairline areas. I will state, my overall experience with him was just OK. His staff, seem to be the type that are very nice to you before the surgery while they sell you the service and after it's done and any follow up, they are a pretty cold. I can't honestly say that makes me feel great about his clinic...so be weary. Any comments on my progress would be appreciated. Thank you.
  4. We would like to introduce a new, intelligent hair transplant system designed to empower doctors and transform lives. Rather than simply describe the details, I have provided a surgical demonstration below, where you can see the smartness of the FUE tools for yourself. Without further ado: In subsequent weeks we will be posting a series of videos demonstrating how the Intelligent Punch can successfully extract grafts from virtually any donor area. If you would like to see results of hair transplant surgeries using these tools, click here
  5. I had my surgery of around 1900 grafts done on March 16th 2017. Today would mark 20 weeks post op. I am amazed at the results to date and am told it will only get better. See attached comparisons before and after. I religiously use finasteride and biotin as well as minoxidil 5%. It was not always the most comfortable but now I feel almost 100% normal. The crown had no work done this is just the medications. Enjoy, thank you!
  6. Hello, I am Amit Atre from Delhi, i had minor hair fall in the beginning but my condition got worse with time and it lowered my confidence. The only permanent solution so far I came across was the hair transplant, FUE technique I opted for in this back side of your head works as a donor for follicle hair grafts. The grafts are being extracted from the donor site, and kept in saline solution for the process and then implanted on the recipient site. I got my hair transplant done a year ago, now I have dense hair growth on my earlier bald areas. All thanks to dezire clinic, dr. prashant yadav is actually the best surgeon with friendly and co-operative nature. I got to know about Dezire through their website and reviews from my friends. My experience was great here as you can see my hair for the proof. I would recommend Dezire to all those who have this baldness problem for best results and to boost their lost confidence. They have clinic at Address: A-1/11, Basement, Below Hotel The Fables, Safdarjung Enclave, Chaudhary Jhandu Singh Marg, Next to Kamal Cinema, New Delhi, Delhi 110029 & you can contact on 082628 60860
  7. This 29 year old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 4 on the Hamilton Norwood hair loss scale. We worked together to design a surgery plan that would accomplish his goal of a more dense frontal area. He had a total of 2,827 FUE grafts. These are his result 1 year post-op. He is very happy with his results.

  9. I have sleep apnea and I am wondering if there would be an effect on my existing hair or my future hair restoration results? I would hate to pay so much money for something and get horrible results because of my sleep disorder... any insights would be appreciated!
  10. This 31 year old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 3 on the Hamilton Norwood hair loss scale. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. His goal was to rebuild his hairline that would be age appropriate now and as he continue to age. In addition he wanted to add more density to the frontal 1/3 of his scalp. The patient’s goal was well suited to his needs and therefore I planned the surgery accordingly. A total of 3,640 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,304 single hair grafts, 2,029 two hair grafts and 307 three hair graft. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 9 months post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his result. He does understand that he might need an addition procedure if he would like more density or does have any further hair loss down the road.
  11. My name is Barrette 41 years old. After my divorce a year ago, I was in a very bad depressed mode and I was seeking a change; my self confidence was at its lowest level at that time and I was acting like a high school geek when it comes to date women. I grew old and I know that 41 can never be 27 anymore; yet, we are in 21st century and everything now is possible and achievable (almost everything, we still can’t cure cancer nor understand how Trump made it into the White House; or even know what lies beneath the divorce of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt). Anyways, back to me now, I’ve always hated losing my hair and always trying to find a solution for that: I came across traditional treatments with some kind of herbs, some medications and injections, and hair transplant. Moreover and in regard to hair transplant, a new technique I didn’t know which has been there for a while, which is Micro FUE; and as after my divorce I can finally find time for myself, I decided to go for it. In Australia, I couldn’t find a reliable clinic or hospital that can provide that, so I consulted Uncle Google and all the search results it showed were mainly in Turkey about clinics or health centres or hospitals or sometimes just call centres play as the intermediate between the hair transplant specialist and clients. I got so confused because of the amount of results I found with no reliable third party that can give a quality assurance review on each hair transplant centre or clinic or whatever it is. I needed to read some reviews or comments, or see some results so upon which I can at least narrow my search results. I checked forums, websites and social media and I found that people are mostly talking about Adem & Havva medical centre, Dr. Serkan Aygan Clinic and Asmed medical center, so I checked them and called them. First, I wasn’t quite sure how I can decide which one to choose as all have shown good results and people were grateful; until I got to know that what distinguishes Adem and Havva is that the hair transplant specialist participates in and monitors the operations. My second concern was the travel itself to Turkey after all what we are hearing from news. With phone calling, mailing and WhatsApp’ing within two months back and forth with the marketing manager of Adem and Havva’s; thus, I made an appointment and travelled to Istanbul after I agreed upon a whole treatment package with hotel accommodation and transportation and other things such as blood tests and Plasma injections. They welcomed me at the airport and I didn’t find any problems on arrival; I was lucky that my hotel was very close to the hospital (yes it is hospital not just a place that does hair transplantation which made me more comfortable). The staff was really really warmly welcoming me –sometimes, it was a little bit too much, but to be honest it was better than not being welcomed! Mrs. Safiye (the hair transplant specialist) met me at her office and diagnosed my hair, drew some lines and wrote down the treatment plan. Then, they took a blood sample and made some tests, and prepared the PRP something injection to be injected later after finishing the operation. Afterwards, I have got my hair shaved by a nurse, been prepared for the operation, locally my back side of my head (the donor area) got numbed, and they started harvesting grafts from there. This first phase took about 2 hours and it went smoothly. Mrs. Safiye then came for phase two and started opening hair channels in my desired-to-be transplanted area (which was front head) for about one hour and a half. Lastly, the harvested hair grafts were transplanted under the monitoring of Mrs. Safiye for about 3 hours. The next day, I went back for bandage change and the day after for washing my head –they taught me how to do it as it is not as the normal washing daily way. All in all, I would say it was a positive experience and it’s been a month now; and at least I can say now that from what I am noticing on my head, they did it professionally. Now excited, can’t wiat for the final results but I am aware that it will take about 6 months at least. I will keep you posted with my progress. Thanks a lot for spending time reading about my experience.
  12. I have undergone FUE hair transplant and body hair transplant at Dezire hair transplant clinic Pune, India. I am happy with the results. Please give your feedback for the posted pictures. Around 3000 scalp graft were put up and 1500 beard and chest hair were taken.
  13. Hello all, This is Kamat, I was having hair loss problem since long and every day lots of my hairs were falling and I was clueless what is happening. Hairs density was going down. Soon I started seeing baldness on forehead and crown area. I tried lot of medicines and oils and shampoos to stop hair fall but it was not working. I was getting nervous because of this problem and started finding permanent solution to this. I saw lots of Youtube videos and read lots of websites. Then I went for FUT, but soon I realized that it was wrong decision. It left me with big scar and also the FUT result was not as per my requirement. After 1 year again I decided to go for hair transplant but this time with FUE. Now the question was which is the best clinic for hair transplants and which will offer best service in my budget. I had consultation with lots of HT Doctors and clinics in Pune, one Sunday when I visited dezire clinic there was two HT patients who had gone through hair transplant before 6 months and I got a chance to speak with them, they seems quite happy with their results. Both of them showed me their photos before hair transplant in Mobile. I saw that there was big difference in their looks after hair transplant though it was just 6 months from their HT. It gave me confidence about Hair Transplant Results as well as about Dezire Clinic. Right after my consultation I booked my Procedure date. It was finalized that I will have 3000 Grafts implanted on my bald area. The donor grafts will be taken from my back head. They gave me good offer. Also I asked for scar revision for my FUT scar and Laser Hair Removal for FUT Hairs which was not giving me natural look. On the procedure day, I came by 8 am. The staff greeted me, I was given juice. It was pleasant surprise for me. The nurse asked me to change cloths and gave me cloths to change. After that she took me for hair trimming. After that I was guided to OPT. The doctors marked the hair line with marker and I was given mirror to see. After that the doctor gave me local anesthesia, Graft extraction stated with extractor. The grafts counting were going on side by side by another doctor. There was music running on radio FM. I was just lying relaxed on the Operation Table. It took 1 and half hour for 3000 grafts extraction. After that we had a lunch break for 30 minutes. I was again taken to OPT. Doctors started implanting grafts and it took approx 3 hours to implant my grafts. After the procedure I was again given juice. It was good experience and I was filling happy from inside. I was asked to come next day for head wash. I came next day, the nurse gave me head wash with Gillette foam also explained me and my relative the head wash process and asked me to follow this for couple of days. Now after 6 months my results are in front of you.

  16. Hi everyone! As i mentioned in my profile i am new, and i am not even sure if i am posting to the right place or not  I am from turkey, 35 years old, losing my hair almost for 7 seven year (as far as i can remember) I had my surgery in a new clinic in turkey/istanbul, it is called Institute of Hair. As far as i am concerned they have couple of patients from other countries but since they are new for now they are expecting more turkish patients than foreginers .I was not sure at first because even though they have an experienced team, this is a new clinic and i was their first patient :eek::eek: I now that there are a lot of turkish and foreign people who suffers from hair loss are following this blogs so i taught maybe i can help them or at least share my operation experience... Anyways i decided to have my operation, manuel fue 5300 grafts and i am pretty happy about the result. I am not going to advertise, just post my photos and experience, and will happily answer your questions. It's been 7 month since my operation and they say that the growth will continue until the 12th month. By the way they asked me if they could use my photos on their web sites and instagram page and i said why not... I've been trying to post my photos for like 15 mins but i can not  will try it again soon, sorry guys i don't why i couldn't

  18. I had a hair transplant (HT) over a year back (I was Norwood 5). I have been on Minoxidil and finasteride ever since. Around 3 months after HT, my hair started shedding (50+) and they have not stopped or slowed down since then. These shedded hairs are of 1 inch or smaller in size. Sometimes when I touch my scalp I feel that these hairs may have grown back but definitely the density of hairs have gone down. Should I assume that these meds are not working for me as it has been 1 year? Is there any other solutions for this problem. Earlier I thought the shedding happened due to shock loss but this is continuous so I'm afraid it may be TE or AGA. Any comments from your experience. Thanks

  22. Hi guys, My journey with hair loss is probably not so different to many of us although I feel I have benefitted from the invaluable information provided on forums to help me make better decisions sooner. I have had two transplants. One with Dr Feller back in 2007 and one very recently with Dr Wong. If memory serves me correctly, the first session was around 3,000 grafts. The latter session in Dec-2014 was 4,650 grafts. I plan to provide an overview of my experience at both below, I noticed my hair loss during my early 20s. Having tried numerous things such as Propecia and Minoxidil (I struggled to be disciplined with these) and including being ripped off by Advanced Hair Studio, I finally opted for a hair transplant with Dr Feller in 2007. To sum up the transplant undertaken with Dr Feller resulted in good hair regrowth, however the overall experience including before, during and after was not to a standard that I expected, nor to one that I consider of a good quality, particularly given the money I was spending. Having no benchmark other than my own expectations, I decided to assume that the experience was typical and let it be. However, after my recent experience at Hasson & Wong, I wish I had chosen H&W from the onset. I have read posts on forums with individuals becoming a little defensive over any negative comments about surgeons, however this is my own personal experience and I stand by it. My reasoning is attached in a comparison table. Overall, both are good in my experience, but Dr Wong is my choice for any future treatments. The service, pre, during and after care, and empathy was way beyond what Dr Feller offered.
  23. Hi Folks, I'm suffering from hair loss from last few years. I got hair transplant done 3 months back with 2500 grafts. Its 3 months and 1 week now and don't see any signs of growth. In fact, its looking to me like the hairs are less than before. Please check the before and current photos and provide your thoughts.
  24. This video showcases the bad results that some of our patients have had at other hair restoration clinics. Dr. Arocha performed corrective procedures to help fix the plug like and unnatural appearance, and maximized the patient's groundbreaking outcome through artistic hair transplantation. Both FUE and FUT have been employed. http://vimeo.com/144936116
