This patient is a 37-year-old male who desired to increase the density of his hair in the frontal zone of his scalp. He has been on medication to help stabilize his hair loss for several years. Examination revealed significant hair loss at the hairline, frontal zone of the scalp, and mid-scalp. The patient had moderate laxity in the donor area. His hair caliber was average in size. After a lengthy discussion with the patient concerning treatment alternatives including hair restoration via the strip harvest method and the follicular unit excision harvest techniques, he opted for the

This patient is a 38-year-old gentleman who desired to increase density in the hairline and frontal zone of the scalp. He wanted this to follow his native hairline and not alter his appearance significantly. He does not have a family history of hair loss and is currently on oral and topical medications to maintain his native hair. His desire was very conservative: he wanted to bring down the frontal hairline about 1 cm and increase the density in the frontal area. The hair quality in the donor area was excellent, and he had no intentions of shaving his head in the future. The patient ha

This 31-year-old male had 2084 grafts via the FUE (follicular unit excision) harvest method. He had spent much time in the past worrying about his thinning hair since high school. His main concern was the frontal zone of the scalp. We decided on the FUE harvest method since he likes to be able to trim his hair short in the back of his scalp for styling purposes. Additionally because of his age, we felt that the FUE harvest method would be in his best interest long term so he could style his hair shorter in the back of the scalp. The patient had 2084 grafts performed 2 years ago. Th

This 33-year-old gentleman had a transplant a few years ago at another clinic to increase the density of his frontal hairline. After the procedure, he felt that the hairline was not straight with the left side higher then the right side. After a thorough consultation, both the patient and I designed his desired hairline that he felt was straight and would balance the left and right sides appropriately. He desired more hair on the left side, but also wanted to augment the entire frontal hairline. We transplanted 1238 grafts into the first couple centimeters with a greater emphasis on the

This 59-year-old patient desired to have his frontal hairline redifined and filled in, and also increase the density of his crown. The photographs show his before and 1-year results in which approximately 1600 follicular unit grafts were placed in the frontal area of his scalp, and 1200 grafts were placed into his crown. This patient lives close by the office so we plan to have him back over the next year to follow his progress and show his 2-year final results.

This patient is a 41-year-old male who desired to increase the hair density in the frontal scalp via the FUE method. He wanted the option in the future to keep his hair short. This patient desired to increase the density of the hair in his beard and mustache. He said he was unable to grow significant hair on the cheek area, the sideburns, the chin region, or the top of the mustache. The lower portion of his beard grew well, but the hair was lacking in the upper aspect of his beard. The overall goal of the transplant was to increase the density and fullness of the facial hair in the regions were hair was lacking. The patient had 1891 follicular unit grafts placed into the beard as shown in the immediate post-operative photographs. For facial hair transplants,

This patient is a 35-year-old gentleman who had a hair transplant several years ago with another physician in the Northwest. He was very disappointed for two reasons: the density that was achieved was not near what was promised, and secondly, the hairline design was too aggressive. His main goal was to increase the density in the frontal half of the scalp, make the frontal hairline more natural, and address the crown at a later date. 2490 follicular grafts were placed 5-months ago into the frontal half of the scalp. The photos are 5-months after surgery which demonstrates excellent gro

This patient is a 46-year-old gentleman who desired a more youthful appearance as his hairline had receded over the past 20 years. He wanted to have a natural, age appropriate hairline and increased density throughout the frontal scalp. The patient had 2344 grafts placed in the frontal hairline and scalp over a year ago. The patient does not live in the Portland area, but sent in home photos showing his 5-month and 13-month progress. So far, the patient is very happy with the results. He will continue to send in his photos so we can present his 2-year results.

This patient is a 44-year-old gentleman who desired a subtle improvement to his eyebrows. He wanted only a few grafts placed on the outside and central body of his eyebrows to give a mild increase in density. He has always had sparse density on the lateral aspect of his eyebrows so he did not want anything drastic which would too noticeable as he is a public figure. We transplanted approximately 50 grafts to each eyebrow to give it only a subtle change. As seen on the postoperative photos, the eyebrows are slightly thicker but very natural. I am presenting this case as an illustrati

This patient is a 33-year-old transgender female from Seattle who desired a feminine hairline. Her hair is light brown, medium thickness in caliber, which is excellent for frontal hairline and frontal-temporal recession restoration/transplantation. The reason that her hair is excellent for the transplant is that it is thick enough to give the appearance of nice, natural density, but not too thick which can give an unnatural look in the frontal hairline. In the frontal zone, we strive to put the thinnest hairs in the most anterior aspect of the hairline, and build a gradient to thicker hairs t

This patient is a male-to-female transgender patient who presented to feminize her frontal hairline. The results show her 1-year result after 3524 follicular unit grafts were placed in the frontal hairline and frontotemporal angles. At the 1-year mark, she is extremely happy with the results as she is able to wear her hair down and style it in a very feminine manner. She has also enhanced the appearance of her hair by coloring it.

This female patient desired to wear her hair back; however, because of her naturally deep frontotemporal angles, she always wore her hair forward to cover them. She felt the alopecia in the frontotemporal angles gave her a masculine appearance, which she did not like. We densely transplanted 1892 grafts into the frontotemporal angles. As shown in the immediate postoperative photograph, it is vital that the grafts are oriented correctly in a lateral direction, which the hair naturally pointed in those areas. The slits are also made in a very acute manner so the hair “hugs” the scalp in the

This patient had 2752 grafts placed into the frontal hairline and scalp. He is now approximately 15 months out from his surgery and his hair has grown in very well. Most important to him, it is very natural and he has received numerous compliments from his family and friends who he shared it with. The grafts were placed in a coronal orientation and were dense packed (see close up photo actually documenting the clean, dense packing). I include the preoperative drawings the viewer is able to see the hairline design and the final, natural results. The photos were taken in our Seattle off

This 48-year-old patient of mine had surgery 2 years ago with about 3900 grafts to the frontal hairline and mid-scalp regions. He recently contacted us and sent in a photo of himself on vacation (only 1 after photo at this time). He is extremely excited about the transformation that took place with his hair and appearance, and stated that it really improved his overall confidence. He will be coming in soon for an appointment. I will present the full range of before and after photographs from the office when he follows up, hopefully in the near future.

This patient had 2752 grafts placed into the frontal hairline and scalp. He is approximately 6 months out from his surgery and is starting to grow in. The grafts were placed in a coronal orientation and were dense packed. The photos were taken in our Seattle office so the background/camera are not the same as in our Oregon office. We will continue to update the photos as his hair grows in and thickens up.
