  1. Helo to all!! Here is my evolution after 6months at my doctor Felix Popescu in Romania. I had a big empty circle on my top. Good news - very good donnor area. bad news - 25sqcm total empty, like a franciscan priest. I had 1450 grafts one day session and here are my pictures. In my opinion, now, after 6months, I think is a little bit too dense... Best wishes and enjoy my pictures... I hope so...
  2. Dr. Diep's hair transplant surgery 1 year follow up result on client with Norwood 4 after 4,521 hair grafts transplanted from the frontal to the vertex area. 4,521 hair grafts: 1's: 1024 grafts 2's: 2,520 grafts 3's: 691 grafts 4's: 286 grafts
  3. This male patient is in this mid- twenties and was unhappy with his hair loss. He wanted to add density to his crown, and create a fuller appearance. Dr. Friedman placed a total of 3,000 grafts. Of those, 1,100 were single-haired grafts placed in the hairline. The remaining 1,900 grafts were placed in the frontal region and vertex. He is currently taking Propecia to prevent any future loss.
  4. He seems to get a lot of great reviews here. I'm considering a transplant with him. I've seen many posts of people that were getting decent results but they stopped posting after months 4-7. This has happened in a few posts. Very hard to find any after 7 months. There may be 1 or 2 from his representatives but I think that is it. His work seems very good and I am encouraged by how well he is regarded but would like to just see some longer term results. Mostly everything was going well by the 4-7 month stage and perhaps they felt no need to post as all was good after that. The same question was asked here too but didn't get many responses. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/172024-need-speak-old-patients-dr-bhatti-1yr-ago.html If anyone can give me their experiences after 7 months or if they have any links of people's experiences please send them on.
  5. Hi, apologies for the long message but wanted to try to include everything. I received a transplant 3 years ago where I got around 2,100 grafts to the front of my head by Dr. Pathomvanich. He left the area or tuft to the front centre of my head which was a bit stronger than the surrounding areas and felt there was no need to work on that as it could be affected by shockloss. The temples were filled in and the area behind and surrounding the tuft was thickened. I was very happy with his work but feel I would like to have this centre front area filled in more as it has since become thinner. It is see through in sunlight and under lights. I need to use Toppik and would like to not have to use this anymore to conceal my thinning. I contacted Dr. Pathomvanich about this but he thinks that the area is not thin enough yet for a transplant and that working on this would be too dangerous for shockloss. I fully respect his decision as he is obviously someone who knows about the effects of shockloss. I am just seeing what others think and how they think the shockloss would affect it. Has anybody ever got a transplant on a similar looking area? I am wondering how dense do you think my hair is? I would guess that it is near 40 hairs per cm2, though many may be minituarized. I have zoomed in on the pictures and used a ruler in some pics. I have some pics with wet hair and hairs in the thin area spread out to get a good view of the thinning. At what stage would you think I could get a transplant on the hair so shockloss would be less likely? When it reaches 25 hairs per cm2? I feel that if I was to have a transplant with my hair at 40 hairs per cm2 then I would lose more than if I had one when my hair has thinned to 25 hairs per cm2 as the hairs are a bit denser. However, would it not all be the same as I would be starting out with more? I'm assuming I have 40 hairs per cm2 but obviously it may be more or less that. Here are the 2 hypothetical scenarios: 1) transplant when hair is at 40 per cm2 - lose 50% to shockloss (20 hairs per cm2) - end result from shockloss is 20 hairs per cm2 2) transplant when hair is at 25 per cm2 - lose 20% to shockloss ( 5 hairs per cm2) - end result from shockloss is 20 hairs per cm2. So although I lose more in scenario 1, I had more to start with so I would still have the same amount after the shockloss and before new hair grows. These are all just hypothetical figures but you get the idea. I am also aware that shockloss is unpredictable but that it is more likely when hair is denser. In short,I am wondering is there a density threshold for when it is safe from major shockloss?
  6. This male patient is in his mid-twenties and came to Dr. Friedman concerned about the lack of density in his frontal region. Dr. Friedman placed a total of 2,272 grafts. 1,200 of those were single haired grafts, placed in the temples and 1,072 grafts were placed in the frontal region. The photos are 11 months after his procedure and he couldn’t be more thrilled with his results!
  7. Hello, I am a 27 year old male, going bald for over 7 years now. Its genetic my father and elder brother are bald. I want my hair back, for that I have two options - Hair Transplant OR - Hair replacement OR what you call a hair piece I need sound advice in this regard, my goal is to achieve a good look, I dont mind letting ppl notice that I have had a transplant, while with the hair piece I may have a problem if people regularly ask me about it. Also if possible I am getting body hair transplanted to my scalp so that I can preserve hair at the back of my head for a later surgery or just for the thick haired look at back. Also point me to the possible pros and cons of both methods so I can take a well informed decision. Thanking you in advance, forever grateful for your advice(s) AK
  8. This is a male patient in his fifties. He wanted to lower his hairline and add density to his scalp. Dr. Friedman placed a total of 1,507 grafts. 800 of those grafts were single hair grafts placed bilaterally in the anterior hairline. The remaining grafts were placed bilaterally in the temples and frontal region. This patient is thrilled with his results and planning a second surgery to add thickness.
  9. This 43 year-old Investment Broker came to Dr. Rahal after extensively researching the forums to find a surgeon who would produce the specific results he was looking for. Before his hair restoration, this patient would avoid bad-weather days, as he was afraid to deal with what the elements usually did to his thinning hair. He was a Norwood III, and didn't want to deal with the self-esteem issues that went with his hair loss any more. In August 2012, the patient flew to Ottawa to have his procedure in Dr. Rahal's clinic. He received 2205 grafts via FUE. The photos taken and posted here are one year after his procedure. The patient had 450 single grafts, 1081 double grafts, and 674 triple grafts, for a total of 4634 hairs. The patient no longer hides his head under hats, and spends less time worrying about his hair and more time enjoying his hobbies of exercise and golf! He recently stated in an interview that he thinks he went to "one of, if not the very best surgeon in the field". To this day, his hairdresser has no idea that he has had a transplant because of the natural result!!!
  10. Hi, If someone gets FUE to restore their hairline, will they be able to grow bangs? I can't seem to find pictures of guys who've had FUE transplants and grew their bangs out. Almost all the pictures I've seen show short hair. I have a receding U-shaped hairline and it's a little thin on top at the front, so I just wanted to know if FUE would be able to restore my hairline and make the front more thick, and allow me to grow my bangs out like when I was in my early 20s. I'm 33 now. I've added two pictures. One how my hair looks now and another of how my hair looked at age 22. Would I be able to come close to restoring how it used to look? Thanks!
  11. This patient came to Dr. Rahal to restore his frontal hairline, and received 2617 grafts via FUE. The patient emailed us these photos recently to share the progress of his results. He is currently 9 months post-op from his procedure, and is very satisfied with the transplant and the state of his hair currently.
  12. This male patient was concerned with bringing his hairline forward and adding more density to the crown. He was very happy with Dr. Friedmans artistic ability with creating his natural- appearing hairline. The patient wanted more density, so he came in for a 2nd procedure to fill in the areas that were thin. The after photo’s are after 2 procedures 2 years post-op. The patient is on preventive measures to ensure that his transplant continues to look great today and in the future.
  13. I have had very thin temples since childhood and recently have seen some thinning in the hairline -- it is not as solid as I'd like it to be. I have pretty thick hair over all otherwise. I went to consult for an FUE and was denied a transplant to fill out the temples/partial hairline. The surgeon said that the donor hair is much thicker than the hair in the front/crown area and would draw more blood to the new grafts which would make hairloss worse and speed it up in the surrounding area as result because the rest of the follicles would not get enough blood supply or something along those lines. I don't know if this makes sense but it does definitely concern me and put me off a HT. Is there any truth to this "new" logic/theory? Any suggestions or anyone that has had their hairline restored? Any feedback would be appreciated. Many thanks.
  14. This patient is in his 40’s and wanted to add thickness and density to his crown, and have a more defined hairline. Dr. Friedman transplanted a total of 2,580 grafts. He placed 552 single hair grafts in the anterior hair line bilaterally and his temples bilaterally. Dr Friedman placed 2,018 grafts in the bilateral frontal region, and bilaterally mid-scalp. This patient is thrilled with his results, and is considering a second procedure.

  16. Last week I had a consultation with Dr.Vories; as I am considering doing hair transplant with him. I liked his answers to my questions, and he seemed confident about doing the hair surgery to me. I, however, couldn't find any reviews about his work as opposed to many other doctors on this web site with so many reviews on their work, either negative or positive ones. I am also concerned that I couldn't find his name recommended on hairrestorationnetwork; especially that I learned everything I know about hair restoration from this forum. If you have any experience with his work or you think you can tell me something about Dr.Vories, I need your review before I make the decision to do it with him or not. Thank you.
  17. It's been one week since my procedure with Dr. Rahal. Recovery is coming right along. I'm taking it easy for one more week, to make sure I don't disturb my beautiful grafts. Almost all of the swelling has subsided from the recipient area, and I can move my forehead again. Anxiously awaiting the ugly duckling period. The only sad thing is that the weather in LA is gorgeous and I can't go out in the sun for 3 months. Oh well...
  18. This Caucasian man had his hairline restored, filling from the frontal toward the back with 3,557 hair grafts. This photos and videos were filmed 1 year after surgery by Dr. Diep in California. 1s= 1,136 grafts 2s= 2,059 grafts 3s= 318 grafts 4s= 44 grafts To view more in depth of his hair result live, please click and view all the videos below: Receding Hairline Caucasian - YouTube http://youtu.be/ql_ai5p8XjA'>http://youtu.be/ql_ai5p8XjA http://youtu.be/ql_ai5p8XjA http://youtu.be/0tR0VJpbB_w http://youtu.be/c86dEbamsJk http://youtu.be/pmdFLz00uoI http://youtu.be/4sylYN4DK2U
  19. Newbie to the forum.I have been experiencing hair loss since last 15 years and now at age 43, I am Norwood class VI. I am going for 2000-3000 Hair Transplant surgery at Dr Ruby in New Delhi India on december 8th. Selected the clinic and doctor after much research as Dr Radha was quite far from residence place in India. Had scheduled appointment with Dr. A 2 months in advance for 10th december But received the first jolt and surprise from the clinic after my doctor and date was changed 2 weeks prior to my operation. I will now be operated by Dr. Ruby from same clinic on Dec 8th. Will post my pre and post results and share my experience.
  20. Hi I'm looking at getting a HT sometime in 2013. I'm hoping to find a good clinic that isn't ridiculously expensive as well. Preferably somewhere up north would be good as well, but i can travel also. Problem is half the information on clinics i find on the internet is from the clinics trying to promote themselves by giving there own 'reviews' (which amazingly always seem to be brilliant haha) So far I've booked a free consultation with a clinic in leeds that belongs to the 'UK Hair Transplant Clinics' group. Seems to be hard to find any reviews on them because of there name, which I'm guessing could be a bag thing. I've also seen a bit about the BHR clinic which seems promising. I have also seen a few posts about people going to USA/Canada for treatment. Does this usually work out cheaper and does anyone know of any good clinics to visit out there? Anyway any information would be much appreciated or if you know the best person to talk to, to get good impartial advice. Thanks
  21. Hello all! I am a 26 year old balding male and I am considering a FUT hair transplant with Dr Craig Ress in Cape Town, South Africa after a recommendation from a friend. My situation differs quite largely from his though. I am guessing I am a Norwood Level 5 and I have been using Finpecia for about a year and concealing with a generic of Toppik (Mo Fibres) for about a year. I feel the Finpecia has only slowed the hair loss and not stopped it. The concealer is great, but I feel it is becoming a lot more noticeable of late. I have also tried shaving my head, but do not feel confident with the look. I have since decided to look properly into the hair transplant and with having the month of March 2013 off when I arrive back in South Africa - I figured it was a perfect time for the treatment. I am currently booked for the procedure for the 28th of February, but am not 100% sure of the move. My concerns are these: 1. How many grafts will I need to get decent coverage? 2. How long would the scar be? 3. Is it the best time for me to go ahead with this treatment, or should I wait a few more years? 4. Has anybody had any experience with Dr Ress? (Hair Loss | Restoration | Transplants | Surgery - MHR) 5. What sort of results should I expect? 6. Do I have sufficient donor hair? Thanks in advance for any help!
  22. Hi every one, I'm brand new to the site and am planning to have an FUE procedure done with Dr. Rahal. I've been through the consultation and would have liked to of had the procedure already done, unfortunately I'm having quite a bit of trouble with being able to finance the procedure. I have great credit history, great job, and some money saved, but I seem to be striking out. I'm 23 male, nw 2a and was quoted 2000 grafts by Dr. Rahal. I know the FUT is much cheaper, and dr. Rahals scars are pretty much amazing, but I do buzz down my head from time to time even though it's pretty long now. I want the option of a buzz cut. I know it's a small thing that i should be able to get passed, but in my work (one of my jobs) I sometimes don't have a choice in how my hair will be styled. Any info is greatly appreciated. Hopefully I can get on my way to an official date sooner rather than later!
  23. Here is a video of me talking about my experience with hair transplant surgery. I figure this is more personal than typing it all out. The surgery took place in Tulsa Oklahoma on Tuesday 8/14/12 at Hair Restoration Center. The surgeon was Dr. David Josephitis. I will be updating as the healing process continues.
  24. Some of you may have followed some of my posts on here in the past -- I am so thankful to this community and the advice I received. I talked to some amazing doctors and, after months of thought as to what was best, on August 30, 2011, I went through a great repair experience with Dr. Cooley. I will have to change the picture, get some to post, but, the current picture looks nothing like me now. After having surgeries in the early 1990s when I was very young (I'm 42 now), I thought I had no hope. I would always have a pluggy hairline and never see the real "me" in the mirror. I could never eat outside in a cafe without a hat, or feel comfortable at the beach (again, without a hat). Why had I made such a mistake when so young, was a thought that often went through my mind. After seeing a friend who had a repair by Dr. Vogel in Maryland (excellent work, by the way) and then finding this and other forums, I went on a search for the right doctor for me. It is clear that there are so many good doctors on this forum. I ultimately chose Dr. Jerry Cooley, because of the time he spent with me before surgery in a phone consult (as did some other doctors who I would also recommend) as well as emails (as well as his great staff of Lollie and Ailene), patient recommendations, and the fact that I thought his plan was what I felt was the best one for me. That of course was my individual decision and I'm sure whomever I selected would have created topnotch results -- one factor was the ease of traveling from my home to Charlotte and that Dr. Cooley said that he felt comfortable doing the repair in one procedure. What I liked most about the doctors in this network was that all of the doctors (and their staff) I spoke with who are on here acted in my best interest, wanted what was best for me, spent time with me, and all spoke highly of the others whom I was considering. I never felt pressured. I basically had several choices to correct my pluggy hairline. I had had 4 open donor procedures in the past (not strip surgeries) and was very concerned about how many grafts I would have left to have to use. Dr. Cooley recommended a conservative approach to the hairline, did not think comouflage (just implanting new hairs in front of and around the plugs without plug reduction/removal) would be enough, and recommended an aggressive punch removal/reduction of the pluggy grafts and strip surgery all in one procedure. He also said that in his experience that A-Cell would help with the healing of the areas where the front row of plugs and some others where reduced/removed. When I arrived at his office by shuttle on the morning of surgery at 7:00 am after staying at the nearby hotel, we met, went over the plan again, and I totally trusted what he was saying (after I had asked so many questions before, at the end of the day, you have to put your trust in your decision to choose the best doctor for you). When Dr. Cooley asked whether I wanted to be as aggressive and get the best result, even though initially it might not look the best because of the open holes where the plugs would be reduced/removed, I said to go for it. Then, it was into the chair. This was nothing like the earlier procedures I had and I felt no paid at all the whole time. While I slept some of the time, I know that Dr. Cooley had his team of about eight techs working to get the follicles ready for implantation, and that Dr. Cooley made the incisions for implantation. I believe that Dr. Cooley and two techs did much of the implantation in the recipient area, and in the end it was Dr. Cooley and Brandi, his head tech who were working on my head to finish up. It seemed that Dr. Cooley was in the room the whole time (at least when I was up) and the whole atmosphere was top notch. On a side note, for those other busy guys out there, it was nice not to have to worry about the blackberry. And, when all was said and done, after I think more than 11 hours, I couldn't believe it -- my hair looked pretty good -- there wasn't much redness where the follicular units were implanted, and, thanks to my stretching exercises that I did for 6 weeks before the surgery, and an enzyme that Dr. Cooley uses on the strip, I was able to get over 3,000 grafts (when other doctors had told me my max would be 1,500 to 1,800). And, I might have another 1,500 left if I need another procedure. One thing I'm happy about is some of the open donor scarring in the back of my head was removed by Dr. Cooley's removal of the strip and closure. Dr. Cooley also did not require me to shave my head, which was important to me given my profession. That night, I went to the hotel, had some dinner, took the valium and demoral, used my airline pillow (I recommend this), and slept fine except when I woke up as directed to use a spray to increase blood flow that Dr. Cooley recommends. The next morning, I went to Dr. Cooley's and got shampooed and I couldn't believe it -- I was finally looking at me again (albeit with smaller holes where the row of plugs in the front had been removed/reduced) and not at some guy with a bunch of plugs in his hairline. I told Dr. Cooley that when the holes healed up, I would even be happy if I just look like this (without the grown in hairs from the transplant), as opposed to seeing that half smiley face in the front of my head with pretty much bare flesh behind it. Dr. Cooley said he had heard that many times before before. My scar (75 stitches or so) also feels relatively fine and Dr. Cooley said it looks good, as did some of my friends who looked at it. I could not be happier and I hope to post some pictures soon. Here's the most amazing thing. I had a big assignment at work today (2 days post surgery) and I went in wearing my hat (with saran wrap underneath to protect the grafts) and have continued to use the spray that Dr. Cooley said to spray on the grafts. After an hour at work, I took the hat off as the holes from the plug removal have already shrunk to about half of their original size. There are two other HT patients (from older techniques) at my office and both were impressed, as has everyone who has seen how clean the work is. I can only hope that when the time comes, it all grows in as expected. Basically, after major HT surgery, I looked like a guy walking around with a slightly wet head -- thanks to the spray and my not coming my hair to not affect the implanted follicles. I of course am not doing any physical exertion or exposing my head to the sun. I owe so much thanks to Dr. Cooley, Brandi, Ailene, Lollie, Stephanie, and everyone else on his team. Their kindness and patience throughout is to me what medicine should be all about. I never felt pushed or that anything was being sold to me, and I know Dr. Cooley was the captain in control of a well-run ship. The whole time, I honestly felt that everyone on his team was looking out for my best interests and were extremely competent in their field. I know there are multiple approaches to HT repair, but, if you are considering one, now may be the time to consider it given how the technology has changed. And, if you are just considering any type of HT procedure, I highly recommend consulting with Dr. Cooley and his team. Finally, to all of you with whom I've corresponded, you have my sincere thanks. Best. Bill
  25. Ok so i went to sleep, had a clean scalp and a couple of small pimples but nothing bad, all ok. As usual I put my socks on my hands as been doing this since my op. I woke this morning with a bloody crusty scab at the front of my hairline... there was no spot there previously so now concerned did a graft pop in the night?! Its been like 7 weeks. I gently washed the scab and it has cleared up, no sign of anything. But then in my eyebrow as if it ran down my head found this.... (see pic) Is this a lost graft? I can't honestly understand as been extra careful and also wore the socks as a precaution. One other thing... in my previous post I mentioned and posted a pic of a pimple that seemed to have surfaced... yet again it seemed a bit bloody. Anyway this still hasn't gone about 3 weeks now. It appears to have transformed into a mole like thing. I have also included a pic of this. Someone please offer some advice or reassurance as in a bit of a panic mode today!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::confused:
