Advice for Hair Loss Sufferers Considering Hair Transplant Surgery

  1. Has anyone had PRP without Acell in the crown area? My crown is thinning and have heard PRP can really help in slowing or stopping the hair loss. Just wondering who’s had it and what your experience was? I’ve also heard doing it with Acell is better to, but it’s more expensive too.
  2. This 28-year-old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 4 on the Hamilton Norwood hair loss scale. His goal was to rebuild his hairline and add density to the frontal 1/3-1/2 of his scalp. Taking his age and hair loss into consideration we came upon an agreement for what would satisfy his expectations. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. The patient’s goal was well suited to his needs and therefore I planned the surgery accordingly. I wanted to reconstruct a hairline that would be suitable for him as he continued to age. A total of 3,050 grafts were used. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 15 months post op. The patient is extremely happy with his results and is on Finasteride to try and control further hair loss.

  6. Hi guys, I’m considering a hair transplant, as I am receding considerably in the frontal hairline and ever more in my crown area. I first noticed my thin crown area on top of my head at my wedding pics from 9 years ago, and things have only increased. If I have one done now, won’t I have to have it done again in a few years as I age? I’m 37 now, and I only want to do this once if possible. Who would you recommend? I’m considering going to Turkey as the price seems much better than here in the US, even with travel.. I’ve heard good things about Erdogan?
  7. This 42-year-old gentleman had diffused thinning through the frontal ½ of his scalp. He elected to go with a FUT procedure. He received 3,257 grafts. These are his results 1-year post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his results.
  8. This 34-year-old patient was a class 3v. He came to me wanting to rebuild his hairline and add density to the frontal 1/3 of his head. He elected to go with a FUE procedure. He received 3,195 grafts. These are his results 7-month post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his results. He does understand that there is a possibility he can lose more of his own hair over the years. He is presently taking Finasteride 1mg . https://youtu.be/UgG0GhoWzso
  9. Hello I am Michael from Leeds, age 32 and I had a FUE hair transplant with Dr Arshad at the Hair Dr Clinic in Dewsbury back in Feburary 2018. I have had amazing results, compliments and feel great! So I decided to have a go at doing a forum of my story to show, advise and answer any questions for other people out there who have just had the proceedure done or considering it. I have a Instagram page of my Hair transplant story which I blog about it, If interested in that search "mikes_fue_story. So I will start my story with a before and current 9 months on photo and a brief account of why I had the proceedure done, and kinda a little introduction. Then I will go back to the beggings and give a detailed account of my story. I hope you enjoy reading and that it helps you with your own hairloss worries or conserns post proceedure. I am no professional and will advise you best to my knowledge and from my experience. Ok.. so my profile picture already shows you I have a great hairline again and great density which is why i am starting this way. I used to have long hair in my early to mid 20's and around age 26 I cut it short and noticed along with family and friends say " receeding a bit there Michael" and I thought it just becaused I had gone from long hair to cutting it short so didnt think of it as a issue. gettin closer to 30 I knew i was thinning and receeding at the temples and often looked into ways to resolve this. Me been weird and into these things I always knew about hair transplants when i wasnt receeding. I never liked the FUT method and the having a liniar scar. So I already knew about the FUE hair transplant method and was intrigued and would watch videos of the proceedure ect. Last years (2017) Christmas dinner with familyconversation started about my hairline and that " I was the last in the family people would think would loose his hair" And just as I thought they made comments like I still had a lot of hair still on top and its just receeding. I then told them I had actually been thinking of going to see a couple of surgeons for their opinion and quotes, Having a idea of price and amount Id need. Family agreed and said "why not" so in new year I filled in online on 2 websites and awaited thier responses. Only the Hair Dr Clinic responded and so I sent in photos, to which they replied to a day later and gave me a rough quote and set up a face to face consultation with Dr Arshad. When I arrived and was met with a warm welcoming and friendly Sommiya who is the Practice manager and she took me to the office where I was met with Dr Arshad. I will pause the story there like I say I will go back to the beginning and give a more detailed account and photos of that stage. If you can not wait then again look up my Instagram mikes_fue_story and see pictures there and feel free to message me there. The picture I have uploaded with this post shows you my hair before FUE proceedure with the receeding hairline and temples compared to now 9 months + on... Think you would agree there is a MASSIVE difference!! Briefly.. as I will go into more detail in future posts, I was unhappy I was loosing my hair so young... we all do/are. I did not feel I was down and depressed about it but I know I missed it, worried what I would look like bald, felt I still had too much hair to be shaving it down every other day and I know I did not like looking at pictures as been fair haired and lighting I look more bald than what I saw in the mirror. But as soon as the proceedure was finished and I was led back to Dr Arshad's affice to do the big reveal... I saw a new man in the mirror! I aint the most confident of people but I immediately felt more confident and so much happier as I could see a new full hairline on my head! Hope this has been a nice introduction to my experience and story and I will add more detailed posts and photos soon. I am just happy to talk about it and help advise anyone going through hair loss and considering the proceedure. Without sounding cheesy and big headed but this before and after photo speaks for itself and shows you my amazing results so far and the fantastic work of Dr Arshad and the Hair Dr team. Thank you Michael
  10. Hi all! My name is Towers, I'm from Barcelona, Spain, I'm 31 years old and last June 28th, 2018 I got a hair transplant in Turkey. I have recorded the whole process of my video operation and I have edited it on YouTube. Also, I am uploading a video every time I complete a month of the operation so that the result can be seen. I wanted to ignore the name of the clinic to maintain neutrality. At first, I was going to graft 4.200 grafts but when they were finishing the operation, they gave me the possibility to extract 400 more grafts and be able to put more density. My main concern was the crown area. They could put hair on the crown area and on the front line. The choice of the clinic was complicated, it took 4 months to choose. During the clinic election I was taking "Minoxidil" "Saw Palmetto" "Vitaminas Xplendor" "Shampoo anti fall voluminizador EBERS" "Ampoules of placental plant SALERM" and "Peppermint oil". I have stopped the fall of my native hair, it is much stronger and brighter and the result right now is very good. I leave some pictures of my condition 4 months before going to surgery: I put some videos of my evolution, I understand that many do not understand Spanish but you can see the state and evolution of my hair: Video of my first month: Video of my second month: Video of my third month: Video of my fourt month: Video of my fifth month: Evolution of my firsts 4 months: I want to know your opinion about my evolution, what do you think ?! Sorry about my bad english and the use of translator Regards!!

  14. Hey! Firstly cheers for all your posts! I have read loads of em. So here I am in Bangkok less then 24hrs away from an FUT procedure with Dr Path and I am absolutely shitting myself. Really only hit me today - I wasn’t worried at all up until this point. Even when I went in yesterday for my pre-op discussion and instructions I was fine. Had a good chat with Dr Path and his staff. Got my shampoo and instructions not to drink today (nightmare cos if ever there was a day I need a drink it’s today). Anyway, I’m nervous so decided to signup and post on here. Hope that I will be able to provide you with updates as I go along. let me catch you up: 1. I basically look like an old school monk. My hair in my crown area is only very very thin baby hair. Massive bold spot. And I have been progressively losing hair in the front area to. The rest of my hair is thick and grows very fast. 2. In 2011 I had an FUE procedure in Philippines - 1200 grafts. Didn’t work. Complete waste and vowed never to think abt HT again. I’ve been waiting for science to come out with the magic pill (can’t be Long now). 3. Late last year my mate surprised us all with the news that he has just had a HT in bangkok. (Dr Path FUE). This got me thinking down the path again so I had chat with my mate who emailed Dr Path and connected me for questions. 4. Long story short here I am one day away from an FUT of 2800 grafts. A mega sess as you guys call it. 5. Still emotional from last night watching England beat Sweden in the quarters of the World Cup. Cheers, mf
  15. I wasn't going to share my experience but I felt that after everything I got from this forum and the fantastic experience with Dr. Nader, I had to to share this and give back to the community that helped me through this. I started losing hair in my 20's and then it stopped (or that's what I thought). I truly believe since then I lost my hair slowly and progressively until now. I'm 36 years old now. My hairline was never horrible and I didn't have peaks that really bothered me but I started noticing a lot of hair loss when looking at my pictures and seeing a much wider forehead each time. I had issues with hair loss in the crown area that I would easily cover up but then recently I also saw less volume on the front side of my hair. For the last two years Toppik, hair spray and Loreal Root Cover where my best friends but it got old too fast. I live in SoCal where generally is hot. I realized that I would get horrible migraines every time I used the root cover spray if I didn't shampoo my hair within a couple hours. I did some research and I realized of the horrible chemicals used on this spray and I started wearing a cap and just using the spray for important events or occasions. It was too much work and I was stressed out all the time thinking that somebody would touch my hair and their hands would be black all the sudden. I got used to wearing a cap all the time and my selfies did as well but every time I got home and took the hat off, I would feel like I didn't recognize or like the person that I saw on the mirror. I started looking at other people experiences and came to this forum. I travel a lot and I really considered Thailand on my last trip but I thought it was too far of a flight to come home for recovery right away so I kept looking and that's when I came across with one particular review about Dr. Nader in Reynosa, Mexico. I kept looking for stories and experiences and within weeks I made my decision. I read that it was really hard to get in touch with him so I was ready for an email battle. I sent the same email in Spanish and English with same Subject. I would send it at 8am every day. Same email. Same time. Seven Days. I then received an email from Brenda (medical assistant) and we got the conversation going. I first sent them some pics and Dr. Nader suggested me to go to my doctor to make sure that I had not alopecia or other illness that would make me ineligible for a hair restoration. I did so and results came all good. I got back in touch with them with new pics with better lighting and I asked then that I had to get this done before the end of the summer. Then Brenda replied with the only availability at the moment on July 5th and you know I TOOK IT! Once you have a date, Brenda is a lot more responsive and she always copied Dr. Nader in all emails. He knows everything that is going with you and he communicates with Brenda about you after reading each email. Dr. Nader only accepts one patience per day and he is with that patience from around 7:30am to 6:30pm so he has little time to reply to all emails himself. I booked my flight to Texas and Dr. Nader said he would book my hotel right by the McAllen Airport. I received the confirmation about a week earlier from my trip for two nights at the iStay Smart. Great location and hotel with great breakfast and a mall right across the street. Got in at 6pm on July 4th. Staff were wonderful and most of them already know about Dr. Nader because I believe we all use the same hotel and we all check-in with a cap and check-out with some more hair. His driver, Mr. Santos was supposed to pick me up at 7:45am but he was already in the breakfast area at 7:25am. Great guy and great conversation. If I was stressed about something, it wasn't about the surgery but about the drive to Reynosa. I travelled right after elections and things were a little more crazy than normal. I kept looking at the local news and I followed the hashtag #ReynosaFollow on Twitter that it helped me a lot but also freaked me out in several occasions. The drive was what I was more nervous about, even though I've visited several countries in the Middle East. We drove about 25 minutes to the office, crossing the border very easily into Mexico. The city of Reynosa seems old, disorganized... It reminded me to and old town in Thailand. Most important, I never felt in danger, as Mr Santos drove carefully and put me at ease. He walks you to the office which is in a gated building. If there is something that I was sure after talking to Dr. Nader for 15 minutes, that was that I had made the right decision. Let me get one thing straight about Dr. Nader , he is the absolutely most professional person I've met in a long time. Everything about him was amazing We talked about genes, hair loss in my family, supplements and medicines, the need to alternate shampoos weekly.... He answered every question I had and walked me through the entire process. He checked my hair and said that My hair was strong and I had short hair growing around my crown and he believed that I could just get hair by taking the right supplants and stimulating my hair the right way. He even hand wrote a list for me. After telling him about my expectations he said that I would have to focus on the front face and hairline and leave the crown for later as he truly believed it was just easy to get my hair around It naturally. He sad he didn't want to do more grafts than the ones that I would need. I have so much respect for him and you can tell from the get go that he loves his job. He said he loves focusing on one head at the time and he only leaves you alone for much. He is with you the rest of the time. After the initial conversation we started the procedure by changing clothes and getting my head shaved. I got a shot for inflammation. Right after I laid down and they started the collection from the donor area. I didn't;t feel a thing and I even took a little nap. When he was finished he gave me his glasses to look at my hairs and he said he was surprised because I had a lot of follicles with several hairs (up to 4). Then we stopped for lunch. After lunch we went to the implantation and this part was even more relaxing. When making the incision there is a sound, and it was the most relaxing part. You have a remote to browse through Netflix and watch whatever you want but I was more relaxed than anything else. After the procedure we went into his office, he gave me the post-instructions on how to care for my scalp and gave me the actual medications (antibiotics, pain and inflammation). HE told me that my extractions were high quality and gave me a report for the total amount of hairs. He actually got 2555 but only charged me for 2500. 225 grafts had 1 hair. 1246 grafts had 2 hairs. 998 grafts had 3 hairs and 86 of them had 4 hairs so I'm hoping to see all that grow very soon. He even gave me his cell phone number to send him daily updates which I have been doing and he's been extremely responsive. Santos wasn't available to is nephew took me back to McAllen. We went through another bridge to avoid lines but this area made me feel very uncomfortable so I would highly recommend you to request to come back via the international bridge that you came from even if that means having to wait a few more minutes in line. I took the bandages off on day two. First night was hard to sleep due to the position. CAUTION! I did use an aloe vera gel on day 2 on my donor area and I cried for an hour on how bad it hurt so I didn't even think of putting it anywhere else. It got red, painful and ugly. Today (day 3) I bought the actual aloe vera plant and extracted the inside and that didn't hurt at all. I'm extremely grateful. I will be sharing a few pics as I have time to upload them. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will be happy to answer.
  16. Hi, I am 30 my hair is thinning in the crown area and I am not advised for transplant due to my medical history. Is PRP session good for regrowth of my hair? Regards Nazim
  17. This 33-year-old patient was a class 3. He can to me wanting to rebuild his hairline and add density to the frontal 1/3 of his head. He elected to go with a FUT procedure. He received 3,126 grafts. These are his results 1-year post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his results. He does understand that there is a possibility he can lose more of his own hair over the years.
  18. This 30-year-old patient was a class 4v. This patient wanted to have his frontal area restored. He elected to go with a FUE procedure. He received 2,592 grafts. These are his results 7 months post-op. His results will continue to improve over the next 5-7 months. The patient is extremely happy. He does understand that there is a possibility he can lose more of his hair over the years. He is planning on coming back to restore his crown at a later time.
  19. This 42 year old patient had a prior frontal hair restoration using FUE harvesting. He was dissatisfied with his final density and complained of some pit formation in the frontal graft zone. His main donor area showed evidence of moderate density reduction resulting from his initial procedure. His main desire was to boost density in the immediate frontal hairline so that his hair could be styled back. A small preliminary procedure was used to remove several of the deeper pitted grafts in the frontal region. A secondary session of 1580 grafts was performed at a later date using FUE harvesting and graft insertion with a stick and place technique. Graft harvesting was focused more to the side donor areas in order to minimize the risk of over-depleting his previously harvested donor areas. His eleven month postop photos are presented here along with immediate graft placement photos and two week postop photos.
