Two of the questions posed to me prior to presenting the details of Pilofocus' graft harvesting technique are: 1) how do we evaluate growth of transplanted grafts and 2) how is it done objectively and in a blinded fashion? This is not overly challenging when conducted within a bald area. But what if patients in the clinical trial would like to camouflage the grafts within their pre-existing hair?
Two interactive links below illustrate this method of determining viability of transplanted grafts within a hair-bearing area. Hair viability analyses are performed in a double-blind manner. Therefore, the type of graft transplanted (FUE, FUT, or Piloscopic) is unknown to the observer. Software enables subtle adjustment of each image relative to the other (not possible here). Therefore, near-perfect alignment of hair shafts can be produced to most accurately quantify the presence or absence of transplanted hair when the patients return for follow-up evaluation.

Go ahead and give counting a try. I can incorporate the results of this poll in the presentation that we have been invited to deliver at the upcoming ISHRS Meeting in San Francisco, CA next month!
This 55 year-old man received 1709 grafts to the frontal third of his scalp. He returned after 11 months to say "hello" to Dr. Wesley and his staff.
In general, salt and pepper hair coloration enables greater coverage with a smaller number of grafts as compared with a different hair color that contrasts sharply with the color of a patient's scalp.
True and Dorin has relocated to new offices in Manhattan. The new location on Fashion Avenue offers enhanced regional access for public and private transportation being located on the west side in proximity to Penn Station and the Port Authority Terminal. A variety of parking facilities and hotel accommodations are within 5 minutes of the office.
The new facility also offers enhanced privacy being a full floor with private elevator access directly to the suite. The move has also allowed us to update the surgical suites with the most modern design and surgical lighting and graft preparation area.
In our new facility as always we will be providing the most advanced surgical techniques of hair transplantation - Ultra-Refined Follicular Unit Transplantation and Motorized Follicular Unit Transplantation. True and Dorin will also be offering the most recent proven Bio-enhancements for hair loss treatment to the hair transplantation process to assure the best possible results.
We look forward to seeing you!

This result is after one FUT 11 months post-op. Given the uncertainty of the patient's response to Propecia and his proclivity to wear his hair short, Dr Dorin proposed a treatment of 1500 grafts that would reinforce the patient's pre-operative hairline position and add density throughout the frontal region area while at the same time have a more modest impact on the donor area to allow for flexibility in styling. FUE was discussed but not financially feasible.
392 singles, 921 doubles, 195 threes - 2,819 hairs
Just treated this patient with round 2....at age 22 Dr Dorin initiated frontal restoration with 975 grafts via FUT - as well as Propecia. The recent second treatment of 1006 grafts targeted the same frontal zone for additional density.
This patient recently came in for follow-up with Dr. True. In 2006 Dr. True performed one FUT of 3115 grafts - 764 singles, 1611 doubles, and 740 threes. A total of 6206 hairs transplanted. At the time of his treatment Propecia was also initiated. After 5 years, the result is holding up very nicely although the patient has gone on to lose the native hair that existed prior to the transplant. A second step has been discussed to add overall density throughout.
