Advice for Hair Loss Sufferers Considering Hair Transplant Surgery

  1. Amazing replies. This is a Hasson and Wong photos stolen and posted by a medical tourist company that uses Dr. Cinik. They changed the photo because I talked to there many rep for Italy and told him. This is why I posted in screenshot. Eagle travel continues to sell transplant for Dr. Cinik. Rather than ask them to change the picture why not do the ethical thing and discontinue all affiliation to Eagle travel.
  2. I normally do not like to get involved with the politics of the hair industry. Dr. Cinik hires company to recruit patients that like to steal photos from other clinics. http://www.eagle-travel.com/item/370/hair-transplant You will see this link where a Hasson and Wong patient is used and stated that one of the two surgeons is Dr. Cinik, I have enclosed the screenshot,.
  3. Hi Shera, Appreciate the well thought out response. I think you made some good points but noted a few points that need to be clarified. Yes, all the time. Not sure if this is unique to the U.S., though I suspect you're feigning ignorance to prove a point, but yes 100% refunds are a customary thing--especially in the case a good or service doesn't perform how you expected. As an example, I returned a laptop charger last week for the simple fact that I changed my mind about wanting it. Full refund. A more similar comparison would be buying a new car--which comes with an explicit multi-year warranty and often buyback provisions that guarantee the resale price. An exact comparable situation would be the dozens of ethical doctors (especially the ones recommended on this site) who stand by their work and offer 100% refunds in the case of poor growth. Check out Legend's recent HT with Dr. Hasson where Dr. Hasson put it in writing that Legend could get a refund if growth didn't meet or exceed 90%. A bold move by the doc, but he's an awesome doctor so why would he need to be a pussy when it comes to the likelihood of a successful result? https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/52968-legends-ht-with-h-n-w-2500-fue/ Also, the use of the word "quite" in "not quite up to our expectations" is disingenuous when referring to the dog shit result this patient got. Should a patient be penalized for factors out of his/her control? If the patient doesn't follow post-op instructions that's one thing, but to just generally blame the patient's physiology seems like a lazy way to avoid taking responsibility. If the doctor decided the patient was physiologically fit to undergo the procedure then the doctor should also take some responsibility if that turns out to be an error of judgment. I've never seen post-op instructions that say "avoid stress for the next year". Obviously avoiding stress during recovery is a good thing, but the idea that it materially affects a patient's results should be backed by some kind of evidence if it's going to be used as a valid argument. Again, I think you're feigning ignorance on this. Is it really that confusing why a patient would not want to undergo a procedure with a doctor that already produced a bad result on them? Even if it's the best doctor in the world, something about that procedure by that doctor did not work for that specific patient. Maybe it was the punch size, use or lack of use of PRP/Amniofill/A-Cell, or something completely different. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Not sure why this is a hard concept for you to grasp. Ultimately--I'm not saying that the clinic should necessarily give the patient a full refund (though I think that would be a good gesture), but the idea that the patient should assume all of the risk for a procedure turning out poorly is ridiculous. There should be some shared accountability.
  4. Hi all, Recently I've been really narrowing down my options, and will be looking to get a HT this year. Initially, I didn't know where to start, but now, thanks to this forum, I almost don't know who to choose. This wonderful forum has shown me so many great surgeons I had never even heard of. Ideally, I would love to visit Hasson and Wong, but their cost is quite high, at 8$ & 6$ USD per graft (I am an Australian, and the conversion makes me cry). I was tossing up between LA Fue Clinic, Keser, and Dr. Pradeep Sethi at Eugenix, just to name a few. I guess my main question is, when choosing your final surgeon, what specifically tipped the scales in their favour for those that have had transplants? I'm looking for some tools to narrow down my options, it's become very hard to bite the bullet and choose someone. Thanks everyone!
  5. I would think H&W primarily does FUT, but they also do a lot of FUE. It really depends on the patient as far as coverage needed, donor hair, economics/FUE is more labor intensive thus more expensive, and other factors. Hasson/Wong has performed two FUT's on me and Dr. Wong stated if I have another transplant it needs to be a FUE procedure. I will probably have one more surgery with Hasson/Wong and it will be my first FUE. I really don't look forward to the long face-down time in the chair for a FUE surgery and the additional expense of FUE.....but at my age and my surgery history I have no choice but FUE.
  6. IDK if Hasson & Wong use WAW in their clinic, but Dr. Wong has demonstrated it along side Devroye and raved about it on the H&W blog. Also agree with Legend and Melvin that consistency and quality of results is most important. OP, if your goal is to minimize trauma and scarring in donor then look for clinics that consistently show the least signs of surgery in the fully healed donor area in patient posted results. New tools/techniques are continually developed and top surgeons employ different tools/techniques depending on the case.
  7. Your hairline looks great, did Dr. Hasson have any objection of making your hairline like that as it looks to be more straight than the v-peak shape he normally does? Im hoping to get something similar to your hairline and hopefully he's nice enough to not object to the non-v shape look and go more towards a straighter line.
  8. Hi Spidey, your hairline looks very well designed. I noticed Dr. Hasson usually goes with a v-shape and more mature look, was this what he recommended as well before you decided to change it to the one you wanted? I am also looking at Dr. Hasson or Dr. Diep but i live locally in Vancouver as well.
  9. I imagine this design has been adopted to avoid an "unnatural" hairline. Most men experience hairloss through the course of their lives. Having the hairline of an eighteen year old (without the matching density or other aesthetics) would probably look fake. But I'm really just speculating on the reasons for a "more mature" hairline ... you asked if Dr. Hasson would ever alter his design. For the answer to that question, I suggest you ask the doctor himself 😉
  10. I noticed alot of Dr. Hasson's hair design are all quite similar and more of a mature look with a V-Shape, by any chance does anyone know if he had ever venture into a more straight line or non V-shape for a youther look?
  11. Personally I would only use a doctor that does hair transplants full-time and does not offer other cosmetic surgeries. Dr. Arocha and Dr. Armani I believe only do hair transplants. Dr. Lam seems like a very nice guy and is passionate about his work but at the time I met him he had to fly in his one technician when he performed hair transplants. Experienced technicians are a very important part of having a successful hair transplant. For example look at the picture below showing the large staff/technicians that work at Hasson/Wong. For me the patient it was very comforting to see a staff that deep built for doing nothing but hair transplants.
  12. Spanker, hairlossPA, Triple7, HTO416, BicTNYC, thanks for all the nice comments! Triple7, Dr. Hasson estimates around 3,000 grafts left in the bank via FUE.
  13. Vancouver area patient in his late 40’s had finer hair with diffused thinning heading for a stage 6. Hoping for as many grafts as possible and something north of 4,000, his above average density enabled Dr. Hasson and team to harvest 6514 grafts via FUT to rebuild a new hairline and frontal zone, restore the mid-scalp and work back into the crown. 1969 were single hair grafts, 4162 were doubles and 383 were 3-4 hair grafts. These photos were taken 3 years post-op.
  14. I've narrowed my search down to Hattingen and Dr. Rahal. Had a consult with Hasson & Wong, that didn't go too great. Nothing to do with my expectations or theirs (my expectations were actually quite modest as compared to theirs to be honest) but felt it just isn't the place for me. Consulting with Rahal and Hattingen later this week. One thing about Rahal is you can find loads of first hand patient accounts. Since Hattingen is located in Europe, it is really hard to find any person that has gone to them and shared their experience. Anyone know of anyone, even if there has been forums outside of the HTN that have patient experiences with Hattingen?
  15. Yes and No: i mentioned two conditions (lupus & thyroid). I actually only have thyroid. But both are definitly related to hair loss, that's not even a debate. So there's that. And I think your misunderstanding what I'm saying. I clearly have AGA, it's just the loss has been kickstarted due to other conditions as well. As far as my donor area is concerned, I've had a face to face with many doctors, including Hasson. Excellent donor with little to no chance of any thinning or loss happening in the back, and that's from Dr. Hasson. Estimation, 4500 grafts. Not concerend with the donor area, thus FUT.
  16. I feel the same way, honestly I don’t think I’d be where I’m at now if I was still bald. At the time when I barely had any hair left. I just didn’t want to be a cueball. Now I’m amazed at where I am. Granted I still use concealer to look 100%, but having this hair allows it to look 100% natural. I’m also eternally grateful to Dr. Diep, guys chamged my life. One poster mentioned surgeons only do it for the money, but come on, there’s no way Dr. Hasson doesn’t look at you and feel good about himself. You’re his masterpiece. It’s an accomplishment like a trophy. He’s spent the money you paid for your transplants long ago, but the satisfaction of his work will never go away.
  17. I started losing hair at 17! I remember being on the bus home from college, before even being aware myself I had any issues and someone commented on my receding temples! I became acutely aware of it at 18 and grew my hair forward in an attempt to cover it, as it thinned, it became more obvious that it was a bad comb forward! at probably 21 i could no longer hide it and would find myself not going to places where I couldn’t this wear a hat. I even wore a hat in the house to hide it from my parents! At 24, I decided to shave my head to see how it looked, but my hair was so thin at the front that it looked like I had no hair on top and no disearnable hairline. from then up until my first procedure at 26/27 I withdrew socially and wouldn’t go anywhere at all without my hat even though I used concealers every day! looking back I feel I wasted 10 years of my life being so paranoid about my hair. I also used to look at people and friends with hair and experience extreme jealously and ask “why me!?” Looking back now that seems silly, but it affected me that much. at 27/28 after my first hasson procedure it’s no exaggeration to say my life and my confidence completely changed, my hair is now far better than at 18, and I regularly get compliments on my hair, people asking where I get it cut/how I style it etc, no one is aware I had a transplant... not just for the the quality of the work (although that’s a big factor), but also the lengths I would go to to hide my hair loss pre surgery. Now at 38 years of age I have people thinking I’m in my 20’s, and a few months ago I got carded buying alcohol!lol the friends I used to be so jealous of having hair are all now balding to some extent and are now envious of my hair!lol in all it’s no exaggeration to say that if I hadn’t had a HT/‘s then I wouldn’t be where I am in life or as happy as I am because I’d still be as paranoid about my appearance and attempting to hide it and myself away from everyone! Not to sound like an infomercial but Dr. Hasson and his team completely changed my life and I will be forever greatful
  18. Guys, There is no perfect surgeon. Dr. Hasson has had negative reviews every surgeon has had less than stellar results or reviews. It’s important to speak with happy and unhappy patients.
  19. Looks awesome Legend! Your donor is super thick so I'm expecting a home run result. Pretty cool Dr. Hasson explicitly guaranteed his work, and put it in writing. When I asked Dr. Diep to do the same he said no lol.
  20. great write up, and love your Q&A with Dr. Hasson! nothing better than an informed patient as you obviously are - heal and grow well
  21. Hello Everyone, Last year (Nov.2017) i made my 2nd HT at Asmed clinic Istanbul about 5146 grafts Fue method in NW5 pattern. Some infos about me... I had another acc here many years ago but due to inactivity i forgot my account and i created this one to show my progress. I am male 36y old and i have made 2 ht's. First at 2009 with strip method at Dr Hasson about 3200 grafts in the frontal area and temples. And 2nd at 2017 at Asmed clinic. about 5146 gafts. A total of ~8400 grafts. I would like to post foto's during my progress to discuss things about my progress etc. but due to limited free time i didn't make it.... But now i created a video about my progress to share with you, from the beggining to the final result and i am very pleased with the result. the video is here you can watch it at 1080p for better viewing and i am open to disscuss any details & questions or pros or cons about my situation. etc.
  22. Okay, so the next week I flew to Canada .. around a two hour flight from California.. reason I chose to go with H&W? - They are a Top clinic , n I can’t take a chance of risking surgery n spending so much money on lower tier clinics . I also liked that they can dense pack the hairline, so I won’t have to go back again for a second pass for density . ( very important to me ) N when I asked the patient coordinator if they gurantee their work . He said of course buddy , it’s what we do here .. so By hearing that , i know already their customer service is going to be good. Customer oriented .. n I have peace of mind that I’m not spending $20,000 for average results . - n also , I was doctor hasson’s only patient that day .. Doctor Wong was doing FUE on another patient .. so I was really happy about that .. I wanted personal attention , n not feel like I’m at a hairmill . - I also changed my mind with going with FUE n wanted to do an FUT now.. since I felt I should maximize my donor with FUT first then do a FUE later on in life .. at first I never thought I would consider FUT but since I keep my hair medium to long .. the scar isn’t a big deal to me. Especially if it’s a clean , small scar, u won’t ever see it on me .. n it’s also more cost effective .. $12,000 for 2500 grafts fut vs $20,000 for 2500 FUE.. - When I arrived at the clinic . I got to meet Doctor Hasson for the first time n he gave me a evaluation . I insisted that he Measure my hair caliber with the densitômeter .. donor hair is around 80 microns top of head is around 70 microns . n the hairline around 40 microns.. It seems like I’ve been thinning all these years, good thing I got on finasteride last year , to hopefully slow it down .. I showed him the pic from above , of when dr. diep drew that hairline for me . I told Doctor Hasson to get close to that. After further examining my head he said I should do FUE with 2500 grafts .. since I still have a lot of hair up top , he didn’t feel like he can get it dense enough to match my native hair with 2500 FUT. since there be more single hairs than needed from a FUT .. then he examined my head n see if I even had enough laxity for a fut.. n I didn’t I booked this surgery date with h&w on a week notice .. so I didn’t have enough time to do scalp exercises .. I also have a small head n not much body fat .. my scalp is tight .. so right there my choice was to go FUE or go home . My first choice to do FUE anyways , so I was fine with it .. since he explained to me that FUE gives a denser hairline ( less see through effect ) because they can cherry pick all the bigger grafts . That makes sense to me .. n even though it costed me $8,000 more , totaling $20,000. It’s worth that extra cost today . - I also asked him how many FUE have u done ( since they are famous for their FUT) he said around 1,000. Then I asked who’s going to be doing the extraction, n he pointed to his tech Carmen . Then I asked how many years of experience does she have. ( I can be kinda blunt sometimes ) He said 4.... then he reassured me that she was really good , n that she can hold her own extracting against other doctors during the hair restoration conferences ... i asked doctor hasson straight up if he will gurantee his work ,. I gave him the terms of at least 90% of growth , n not have one side denser than the other .. I was like I don’t want to come back if it doesn’t grow well , n he was like we don’t either .. then I asked if he can put it in writing , n he said do u want me to sign it too? I was like , yeah ! after that I was good to go , I requested extra meds , so I can sleep for most of it . N requested that they shave my hair not too high so I can cover up my surgery . N I asked Carmen the extractor tech , to not get too many hairs from the side ( since it’s thinner ) n not overharvest any one area, I don’t want bald patches .. she said okay I also asked doctor hasson to go up as high as possible on the recipient area . Replace the miniaturized hairs on the hairline . So I can build that wall of hair .. - it’s a good thing I’ve Done my research ; n know what to expect and know what I want and ask for .... to be cont. .. pics are right after we finished the implantation ., it looks clean , nice n dense .. not too bloody either .. n the 8.5mm punch is barely noticeable ..
  23. He isn't asking about FUT though, he's asking about FUE, Dr Diep has quite a few FUE's documented on here and on youtube where as Dr. Hasson has a few but really has been a specialist in FUT from what I've researched, fair enough though, just seems you are going with the one who has less documented FUE results.
  24. my personal preference of who's the better HT surgeon based on documented results - overall skill and artistry if I had to choose just between those 2 doctors - I would select Dr. Hasson every time
  25. Vancouver area patient in his mid 30's. Dr. Hasson and team transplanted 3,100 grafts via FUE to rebuild a new hairline and frontal zone. 301 were single hair grafts, 2511 were double and 189 were 3-4 hair grafts. A nice result at 7 months with more added volume and density to come.
