Advice for Hair Loss Sufferers Considering Hair Transplant Surgery

My Story

  1. It really is HARD to believe...TEN years since my very first hair transplant with Dr. Victor Hasson of "Hasson & Wong". For those of you who may not know who I am and what amount of grafts that were available to me... Here's a Re-cap: Dr.Hasson Harvested: 4,849 Grafts for Hairline/Front - September, 23rd 2004 2,955 Grafts for Crown - June, 23rd 2005 671 Grafts for Temples - Nov, 6th 2007 Total Grafts = 8,475. What has all this meant to me?...someone asked. Freedom, from obsessing about the lack of hair in comparison to others. Appreciation, for having come across Hasson & Wong at just the right moment and time in my life. Sincere happiness in having helped hundreds, if not thousands of people either directly or indirectly make a positive decision, see them follow through and actually GET their hair transplanted (by amazing artists and surgeons in their own rights) and most of all get it done right. That is what I'm most proud of standing behind H&W so vehemently.
  2. To be honest, you have chosen two excellent surgeons who are very similar. Both are known for dense packing, and creating natural hairlines. I don't think you can really differentiate between their skill, for me it would come down to other factors like price, convenience etc. Have you submitted consultations with both? Dr. Rahal https://www.hairlosslearningcenter.org/hair-restoration-physicians/DoctorDetail/Dr-H-Rahal/376 Dr. Hasson https://www.hairlosslearningcenter.org/hair-restoration-physicians/DoctorDetail/Dr-Victor-Hasson-/9
  3. Good choice, H&W are a top notch clinic with a long reputation dating back 20 years. I suggest using our advanced search page to look up real patient reviews from both surgeons. Unbiased patient reviews are the best way to evaluate any surgeon. I also suggest consulting both of these clinics to get a personalized quote and to see who's philosophy you prefer. Keep in mind, Dr. Bloxham is primarily a strip surgeon, his philosophy is different than H&W who now perform both FUE and strip. Dr. Bloxham https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/physician/New-York/Blake-Bloxham/685 Dr. Hasson https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/physician/British-Columbia/Victor-Hasson/9 Dr. Wong https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/physician/British-Columbia/Jerry-Wong/632
  4. Hello guys, i have recently recieved a hair transplant with Dr.Victor Hasson. 2146 grafts to the frontal hairline. I have been on propecia for 5 years which has grown my hair back quite a bit and stopped my hairloss. I recieved a few PRP treatments which to my suprise thickened my hair up lots, i will post pics. Finally i did lots of research and decided to book with dr.hasson, my surgery was march 7.2017. 2146 FUE grafts were placed in the frontal hairline area. The surgery took a long time. Everyone was great and helpful, i was just glad to be having it done and fixed finally. I went to the clinic afterwards for 2 days to recieve hair washes and after that i followed post op intrustions for washing. I am currently on day 6 post op still have some scabbing and crusting, tomorrow is the first time i can use shower pressure to help loosen the crusting/scabbing. I will be updating this as time goes on and hoping for the best. Thanks for looking and hope to hear from all of you! First pic is 6 days post op. Second pic is pre-op, you cant see the one side as much because my hand is covering it but it went back maybe 1.5 inches more then the other side/temple.
  5. Hello All, I am considering doing a 2nd procedure, using FUT. Specifically, I am looking at doing it with Dr. Victor Hasson (from Hasson & Wong) in Vancouver. Looking at getting about 1500-2000 grafts. Can anyone comment on their experience on Dr. Hasson, the clinic or what they've heard? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
  6. @Dr. Victor Hasson - Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy life to respond to my post! I’m in the process now of speaking with a H & W consultant (Mike Ferko) and looking forward to hearing your official diagnosis with # of grafts and expected density. THANK YOU!
  7. Welcome! Have you checked out our list of recommended physicians? You can easily search by geographic area. Here is a list of all the surgeons we recommend in Canada. 8. So it's been an incredibly long time since I've posted any pictures of my hair. But to show you that hair transplants really do stand the test of time, I am posting freshly taken pictures (taken today) approximately 8 years after my last hair transplant. I've had a grand total of just over 9600 follicular unit grafts done in 4 sessions over a 5 year period. I went with 3 different doctors. I've listed them below. Procedure 1: Dr. Theodore Katz - 1600 Grafts Procedure 2: Dr. Robert True - 2249 Grafts Procedure 3: Dr. Victor Hasson - 3701 Grafts Procedure 4: Dr. Victor Hasson - 2099 Grafts You can view more detail on my patient website by clicking here. Note that I really didn't brush my hair before I took the pictures but when I do, it usually looks better and even more dense. The back is still quite thin and I sometimes consider going for another procedure to thicken things up. But since it really doesn't bother me, I've put it off for some time. It's debatable whether or not I'll get another one. But if I do, I'll probably go the FUE route because I don't want to risk stretching the scar after 4 procedures via strip already. Feel free to share your opinions below. Best wishes, Bill
  9. Aren't H&W members of the ISHRS? They allow their staff to cut tissue. Jerry Wong | Hair loss doctor | International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery Victor Hasson | Hair loss doctors | International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery I'm not sure what to say about this but you don't seem happy about it. You moved 900 grafts, with FUE. Hasn't he had 7 or 8 surgeries and 4000 or more grafts? Back to the issue, what do you Dr. Feller define as an FUE megasession? How many grafts?
  10. Very interesting for the guys who suffer from side effects: Dr. Victor Hasson updates us on topical finasteride and topical dutasteride | The end of hair loss and balding by 2020
  11. Thanks Stig. Amazing to read a quote from Dr. Hasson on FUE - "I never imagined that FUE grafts, if extracted properly, could look so close to those of strip. Nor could I have predicted that the donor area could look so pristine and almost perfect only 1 week after the procedure." Dr. Victor Hasson

    Background

I noticed the first signs of my hairloss in my early 20s, when I was showering I would see hairs falling out. I got it checked with a few GPs at that time and it was diagnosed as MPB -Hooray! It seemed that I was following the foot step of my dad (NW5)! … But at the beginning I wasn't that concerned. When I was 26, I could see my temples were receding. People were cracking joking about my "bright" bald head in near future, and still I wasn't really bothered. It was around that time that I started using Rogaine (on and off) to at least slow down the problem. When I was 30, my mature hairline was evident but I cloud still deal with it - as I thought it would be a normal part of aging and I never thought it would necessarily get worse. However, when I turned 33, it was about the time to face a serious challenge in my life... I realised that it was thinning all over my scalp! I vividly remember the first time that I saw it in a mirror (I had never checked the back of my head in a mirror till then), and I saw a large thinning spot on my crown and - it was horrifying. I really wanted to do something; I saw a GP again and was prescribed with Propecia, on top of my existing Rogaine regiment. But for side effect concerns (I was actually warned by a chemist when I wanted to fill my prescription), I didn't get on Propecia and kept using Minoxidil. My hair loss was deteriorating and I had no choice but to cut my hair short and shorter. I tried really hard to deal with it, to be the guy who could comfortably embrace the baldness; but it didn’t work for me… I hated all those damn days that I had to go to the local barber to get my routine #1 buzz cut - It wasn't me and I wasn't happy... I knew that one day I would need to fix it properly. I was doing my research for nearly 3 years until I finally decided to proceed with hair transplant surgery. I contacted number of clinics, including H&W. David (patient advisor) answered all my questions in a timely manner and helped me to have more realistic idea of the procedure. It took a while to be able to take the plunge; I knew that it would be expensive so I had to save money for years; and I knew that my first surgery would be my best chance, so I wanted it to be done by the best surgeon - I chose Dr.Victor Hasson of Hasson & Wong in Vancouver.
  13. One perfect day in Vancouver. I feel that I have an obligation to share my results so far to try to help others. This forum along with YouTube helped me make an important decision in life & I ended up choosing the best HT surgeon in the world. They say life is a journey, not a destination. 6 months ago at the end of Sept 2011, I found myself at Heathrow Airport on a journey and my destination was Vancouver. 5 thousand miles. Stayed at the Granville Hotel. Very nice. 18 days stay! I'm on Propecia BTW, used to take a tablet every other day, but 2 weeks pre-op I upped this to a tablet daily. Been on it 3.5 years. Regaine foam since Jan 2012, so 3.5 months so far. I'm a NW5A. Noticed that I was receding & losing crown hair at the tender age of 17. I didn't like the man in the mirror, so finally took the plunge 13 years later. The photos you see below are pre-op, 1 day post op and 6 months results. Following day, I was sitting in Dr. Hasson's office for my consultation, speaking to Doug ( a perfect gentleman & very friendly), Dr. Hasson came in with a big smile & a warm welcome, and he said ''Its a pleasure to meet you''. The pleasure was all mine, I was in awe of the man. Couldn't believe I was actually there, finally. Doug took photos. Next morning at 7.10am I was outside the building, my surgery was at 7.30am, the building door was still locked, I found another entrance & waited in reception. Dr. Wong was already operating on someone as he comes in at 6am. My heart rate was 81 beats a minute, was given some tablets before Dr. Hasson came in. He drew 5 hairlines, I chose one & the fun began. Dr. Hasson worked on me for 4 hours. Lunch was served. Beef stir-fry. 3 movies I chose from the 500 plus that were available to choose from. Joe came in to say hello & we chatted. The operation went on from 7.30am to 5.30pm. 10 hours including breaks. The lovely Daria from reception called me a cab at the end of the day, as I was in no condition to run after a taxi in the street. 1 day post op, came in for a scalp wash, met Dr. Feller & Lorenzo & we chatted for a few minutes. A few nervous souls were sitting in reception, I tried to assure them there was nothing to it, really! Dr. Wong passed by and said hello. Kept coming back for a hair wash for 9 days out of paranoia. I would like to thank this community for all the good advice & support from everyone, the reception staff and the consultants at H&W and above all, Hasson's Angels. These are the unsung heroes. 10 of these lovely ladies worked on me. A special thanks to Elena, Irena & Michelle. Last but certainly not least, I'd like to thank the magic man himself, the king of mega-sessions, the very talented Dr. Hasson. Very nice pleasant person too. Chuck Norris calls Victor Hasson on tips on how to be awesome. Dr. Hasson passes on the wisdom. I can't see how he'd ever be de-throned. Brothers & sisters, hold that hairline & stay with me, wishing you all the best in trying to fight back against the mighty DHT. In the eternal bruising battle between man (and woman) against this beast and on this occasion, man is winning (sort of!). Happy growing & best wishes to all!
  14. I had my first HT in 2010 with Dr. Feller (I used to live in Pennsylvania back then) and I am now on the verge of getting my second HT done (I live in SF bay area now). This time, I plan on getting - hairline fixed and add some density if possible - fill in my crown (I have a bald spot of around 3-inch diameter on my crown) - add density to the mid section I have shortlisted Dr. Rahal and Dr. Hasson (Dr. Victor Hasson?) for my second HT and looking for a ~3000-4000+ grafts HT if possible. I have some administrative hassles like getting a Canadian Visa and renewing my US Visa in Canada (I am living in the US on a work permit) but don't want these secondary hassles to keep me off from choosing the best doc. I am leaning towards Dr. Hasson but wanted to know your suggestions for either doc. I know both the docs are top notch (based on my research/seeing their results) but wanted to hear opinions from you guys based on my HT requirements. Thanks in advance! EDIT: Considering Dr. Ron Shapiro too for the HT. Any opinions/feedback regarding his work is welcome.
  15. If you have the lifetime donor supply, then why not go for the mega-session of 4500-5000 grafts. The wow factor becomes a numbers game, but why not, we are only young once. Erdogan tends to overcompensate on graft count and dense packing to achieve that wow factor, and (I assume) mitigate the so called higher transection rate for FUEs, but who cares if he can get you the "wow factor". I don't think Bisango can achieve those same wow results. If you can live with the linier scar, then I would still go for an FUT mega-session than a FUE mega-session. I am still not convinced that FUE achieves a better result than FUT besides what all the haters out there are saying - that's just me. I actually believe the information put out on this forum by Dr. Feller, and will do so until a FUE Top surgeon or subject matter specialist comes out and proves otherwise. As I am going with FUT, Dr Victor Hasson is my "go to", but if I elected FUE, then without question I would go to Erdogan.
  16. Gram, It's generally safe to begin using fiber type hair loss concealers like Toppik, Nanogen, Caboki, etc, after the scabs fall off. However, it's always a good idea to check with your hair transplant surgeon for their post-operative care advice. You may want to avoid make-up style concealers like DermMatch as they may cause problems. For more information, view the following article on our Hair Loss Q&A Blog by Dr. Victor Hasson, Possible Complications From Using “Makeup Type” Concealer After a Hair Transplant Procedure.
  17. In this hair transplant video interview, Coalition hair restoration physician Dr. Victor Hasson discusses the advantages and pitfalls to avoid for hair loss sufferers in researching hair transplantation online.
  18. Hello, exactly a week ago I had my second operation with Dr. Victor Hasson. I'm currently still here in beautiful Vancouver. First op was 4703 grafts. No doubt I'll post pics when I get back home & also show you my results from the first op. My first operation was a big success. This time round I came back to thicken the crown and the second half of the scalp in general. Haven't been on this forum for a long time as I moved on with my life to an extent but owe my DHT brothers & sisters to share my results over the next months. Dr. Hasson is immaculate with his attitude & comforting. His astonishing technique & magnificent skills really show when your hair starts to grow out so well. The results from the first op gave me so much confidence which I lost over the years. Now I can actually speak to people & chat to girls with more confidence. This confidence will come in handy with the new job I'm due to start next month The entire team are truly amazing. Dr. Hasson's Angels really look after you on your day & post op. They ensured that any pimples are removed. Today I started applying vitamin E oil for any crusts that'll build up. The 6 hours operation itself was pretty easy- the anaesthetic hurts a bit but nothing you can't deal with. I'm thrilled to be here once again to finish the journey I started 2.5 years ago. I'm still on propecia. The first 3-5 nights post op are tricky but you get through them of course. Proper sleep is a fantasy. Been taking in the sites & enjoying what this pretty city has to offer. If you have any questions, please ask! Happy growing!

I am now 31. Norwood 5A. On Propecia for over 3 years. Half a mg until the op, when dose was increased to 1mg, Regain foam used 3.5 months post op. Booked surgery 4 months before I flew out to Vancouver on the 25th Sept from Heathrow Airport. Met Doug from H&W and Dr. Victor Hasson for a consultation on the 26th Sept. I had previously done extensive research on the clinic from forums, pics, videos, reviews etc. YouTube was a great source too. 27th Sept 2011- had surgery with Dr. Hasson. The surgery took place at 7.30am until 17.30pm. 10 of Dr. Hasson's Angels worked on me throughout the day. The Dr. spent 3 hours until 10.30 am to extract the strip & close the wound and make 2700 insertions. Later in the day, he came back for another hour to make a further 1400 insertions totalling 4100 holes. The day itself was a fun day & the weather was beautiful. Watched 3 films & lunch was served. Staff were very friendly. The experience so far has been really good as I have had growth since week 4. I stayed in Vancouver for 18 days- that was painful as it dragged on, but I wanted to have the staples removed by a tech from H&W. Eating Oriental food & burgers for over 2 weeks was an experience as that's what I mainly managed to find in the city. The staples were very awkward to sleep with & I was very glad to have them removed after 2 weeks. I'm now 3 months post operation, exciting times ahead! I appreciate everyone else who contributes & shows their progress- this was a deciding factor for me to go ahead with a HT. Good luck to all.
  20. This week's Hair Transplant Patient of the Week is Hypox, who received 2,500 grafts via Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) from Dr. Hasson. After years of worrying about his hair loss and seeing poor results from traditional Chinese hair restoration medications, Hypox decided to seek hair transplant surgery. He underwent his first procedure in 2009 and was pleased with the results. However, in the two years that followed, Hypox began to notice progressive thinning behind the transplanted hair. He treated the new hair loss with Propecia (finasteride), medical shampoos, and Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), but still did not achieve his desired results. Because of this, Hypox decided to undergo a second hair transplant procedure with Dr. Victor Hasson in November, 2011. During the procedure, Dr. Hasson used approximately 2,500 grafts to reinforce the hairline, frontal third, and part of the midscalp. Recently, Hypox updated the community with his 6 month post-operative images, and the results are excellent! To see the 6 month results, please see the following: Dr. Hasson - 6 Months Post-Operative. Additionally, to see the immediate post-operative images and a 10 day update, please review the following: Dr. Hasson - Immediate Post-Op Dr. Hasson - 10 days Post-Op Please join me in congratulating Hypox!
  21. Beginning this week, the Hair Transplant Network will be featuring the "Hair Transplant Patient of the Week." Each week, we will select and present impressive results posted by patients from various sections of our website. This includes hair loss blogs, photo albums and videos from our social community, patient websites, and discussion forum topics started by patient members. Because we are a patient-driven community, we encourage all members to help us select these cases by commenting on all new blogs, photo albums, and results and recommending cases for presentation each week. This week, we've selected "BonkerStonker" - a long-time and dedicated member who underwent two follicular unit hair transplant procedures totaling 7,460 grafts with Dr. Victor Hasson. His 6 month post-operative results demonstrate a very complete and aesthetically pleasing restoration! Below is a thread sharing BonkerStonker's ongoing progress and his Hair Loss Blog: 7,460 Grafts with Dr. Hasson Over Two Sessions (BonkerStonker promised some 8 month update photographs in the near future in this thread) BonkerStonker's Hair Loss Blog Please welcome me in congratulating BonkerStonker on his excellent hair restoration with Dr. Hasson. I know his case isn't exactly "new," but he's done an excellent job sharing his progress and has been an excellent contributor to this forum. You are encouraged to provide your input below. Best wishes,
  22. Note: A codensed version of this post, but many more pictures, are found at my blog. Well, after nearly two and a half years, I finally had my second installment ordered, installed and delivered with perfection. It's hard to overestimate the thoroughness, professionalism and, of course, quality H&W deliver. Round two brought not only unexpectedly high graft numbers, but a whole new insight into the process, viewed against a backdrop of so much more research, knowledge and information on the subject. I arrived in Vancouver at around 1:30 AM Sunday. A quick ride to the Granville Island Hotel, and I was fast asleep. After a late breakfast, I perused the beautiful, engaging island. Street performers, art galleries and the incredible market place quickly consumed my afternoon. Soon thereafter, Mike Ferko, Scott and Doug Kline arrived from Seattle. We had some fun at the hotel room designing hairlines with Dermmatch. Then we went down for some appetizers and drinks, where we met Nick, who was to have surgery the next day with Dr. Wong while Dr. Hasson worked on me. We all went out to dinner at around 7 PM, joined by Jotronic and the lovely Amber. My intention in round two was twofold: 1) Refine the hairline and some of the temple angles, and 2) fill in behind the frontal third covered by HT #1. At first, Dr. Hasson predicted he'd get only about 2,500 grafts. Accordingly, he delineated an area on top that would not quite reach back as far as the crown, leaving some area uncovered. I was a bit disappointed, but Dr. Hasson said he wanted me to start on Dutastride anyhow, and was very confident that it would fortify the area not covered by surgery. Another thing that really impressed me about Dr. Hasson at this point: He told me he was less-than-satisfied with my current hairline -- critical of his own work. It takes a truly honest, self-confident, and pretty impressive person to be that self-critical. (In truth, I believe I may have done some damage to some parts of his original hairline by wearing a hairpiece after surgery #1. The frontal tape may have suffocated some of the implanted grafts.) The process began at around 7:45 AM. Dr. Hasson first consumed about 400 grafts refining the hairline. We did not shave down the existing frontal hair, as it was my intention to have a small hairpiece designed for the recipient area and, thus, appear at work as if nothing had changed. As soon as the hair grew back, I'd remove the piece and get a short haircut. Dr. Hasson then started the top area, behind the existing hairs from HT #1. Late in the afternoon, as he progressed with the incisions and the techs inserted the grafts, Dr. Hasson finally came back with the great news: We got over 3,500 grafts! So he covered the entire area on the top, and then came back and told me he had another 500 grafts left. He now wanted to shave me down up front and implant the extras up front to increase the density there. Well, I gave him a hard time about shaving down the front, considering the problems this would cause me. But my voice was quited as he pulled out the clipper and started cutting away. We both laughed and I was, of course, happy about it in the end. In all, I received another 3,537 grafts and the process ended at 8:15 PM. Dr, Hasson's incredibly talented and friendly staff helped make the experience so successful and relatively enjoyable. Particularly noteworthy were Slava, Anna, Rebbecca and Farah. And the ever-delightful Christina, of course. Above all, Dr, Hasson is the consummate professional. He is charming, funny, honest, ethical and, of course, supremely skilled.
  23. Well, since it has been officially a month, so I thought I would write up a report of my HT with Dr Victor Hasson. Well, all I can say is that after a year or so of reading on the forums I decided to go with Hasson&Wong, and I was not disappointed with the experience. I want to give the forum my thanks, since 3 weeks before I had the cold feet and Shampoo was a great help with his advice. My session started with a final consultation with Dr Hasson on the Friday (Monday was the procedure). Everyone at the office was really helpful at the office and Dr Hasson and Joesph were really helpful in answering all my questions. I did feel in hindsight, I could have asked more questions to put some doubts to rest. Their office on the top floor was very modern, clean and professional. They also had a unobstructed view of downtown Vancouver. On Monday, the procedure went pretty uneventfully. Dr Hasson was able to do a sketch of the hairline that best suited my situation and addressed my concerns. During the removal of the donor strip, the only pain was from the needles and I felt nothing after. I did stay awake and had a casual conversaton with Dr. Hasson on current real estate prices. They were able to get about 3700 units and Dr Hasson was able to do more of vertex to reduce the shine that I said I would like to reduce. During the rest of the day for incisions and implantations, the work of Dr Hasson and his team were very professional and made sure I was comfortable throughout the process. I watched 3 movies and the procedure took till 5:30pm to complete. I got my antibiotics and pain killers and a take home bag with everything I would need for the next 4 days I would be in Vancouver. I did take a painkiller that evening and another lower dose one as by late evening the pain had kicked in around my staple area. I did manage to sleep upright pretty good that night and all the following nights by propping up 3 pillows and sort of creating a lazy boy chair on my bed. I did also before buy a much sturdier neck pillow that helped alot to keep me upright. I would make sure to pack, only button up shirts, V neck undershirts or zip up clothes as you do not want to accidently knock out any implants in the the recipient areas. I was able to get to a GAP and buy a bunch of large V neck under shirts to address this problem. There was swelling by the second day so contacts are a must as my glasses did not fit anymore. All the exercises recommended by Dr Hasson's team, I think helped in reducing it. I feel i was back to normal by the day 9. The next couple was basically me taking it easy and going in every morning for a shampoo by their staff. The staples were the bothersome at most but otherwise there was no pain from them. On the 4th day after the procedure I got a haircut short enough to hide my staples and even out as much as possible my short transplanted hair on top. My recommendation if I did a second HT would be to stay at least a week or Monday to Friday (Leave Sat) At Home: Besides my swollen head, the only issue I had was how to be handle my hair washing. I did wash my hair carefully for 2 more days just patting the recepient area then went to circular motions until all the scabs fell off by day 14. Upon review of my pics by Dr Hasson, I was still too carefull and was instructed to work to get the scabs off. Vit. E oil helped in getting the scabs off more easily. Staples came off at Day 14 and it kinda hurt. It was not as easy as it looked on the videos. My wife did it for me and it took 2 days since the pain was quite high and we had to take a break. Day 2 went alot faster since my wife got the hang of it and my pain threshold was higher. There is some shock loss and I have lost hair around my staple area and at 2 weeks off mark it is still reddish and is still very itchy sometimes. My hair does not cover this and therefore I have been wearing a hat at work. Luckily I work for myself and explained to my personal assistant. The back of my head has just started to feel normal again, not numb and wierd which had me sleeping on my stomach since the procedure. Hopefully this has been a clear and concise AAR and I would be glad to answer any questions from anyone...thanks for listening
  24. I've had a lot of questions lately asking about what is possible with hair restoration and what kinds of hair styles can be had. I posted the article below on my blog quite a while ago but when I was chatting with Dr. Hasson about these questions and my own thoughts on the subject he decided to write his own article on the subject. I think it is worth the time to read it and it is very important for new patients to understand this when they are doing their research. First is my article then Dr. Hasson's article: Over the past several years of having my hair back I have learned a few things about how transplanted hair behaves over time. I'm not saying that it acts differently than non-transplanted hair or anything like that but more rather what the conditions are that allow it to look it's best. If you've never had a hair transplant understand that it acts just like non-transplanted hair if the procedure was performed correctly. You cut it when it grows long, you style it every day, and you can even have highlights or dye applied to it (obviously from my photos:)) What I have learned over time however is that if you have had a large area addressed with transplanted hair there is a sweet spot so to speak regarding the length and how it positively or negatively affects the appearance of your hair. By this I mean that certain lengths make it look fuller than others. I have found that for me a medium length will make the density seem the strongest. When I cut my hair really short the results seem to be a bit thinner and when it is really long (like shown in my HT# 3 gallery) it also can appear thinner. I am not really sure why this is the case but it has been confirmed over and over as I have had my hair at drastically different lengths. So, the lesson here is, after your results have grown in you may want to experiment with different styles to find the one that best accentuates your appearance. If it looks too thin, let it grow a bit more or cut it a bit shorter. Good luck! Jotronic ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dr. Hasson's article: Hair Styles And Density, What Works? Frequently patients ask us about styling options after the hair grows in from their hair transplant. Will they be able to style their hair in any fashion or will they be forced to style it in a particular way to maintain coverage and naturalness? In general,if the transplanted hair is directed correctly the styling options will increase with higher transplant densities. At low density it is important to comb the hair in a* particular direction to maintain the hair shingling effect to bridge over bald scalp until the hairs reach the next FU at which point the hairs from that next FU will take over the coverage function. In addition lower densities will require longer length hair for coverage. However, there is a point where the hair can be too long thus making the hair appear to give less coverage. Each patient is different so it is up to the individual to find the best length to maximize coverage. If an individual intends to part their hair through a transplanted area that was previously bald the transplanted hair density required rises dramatically. The shingling effect is largely negated here and what becomes impacted is the distance between transplanted FU's. Generally for a part to look natural transplanted densities of 50 FU per cm2 and up are necessary. Obviously the hair characteristics such as shaft diameter, color and curl will come into play as well. As you can see the patients expectations with regard to styling should be an important part of the pre-op consultation. With sufficient donor availability patients with ever demanding expectations can be satisfied but it is important to identify those patients who are demanding in the absence of sufficient donor. These are the patients who should be counseled more extensively to avoid later disappointment. Victor Hasson MD
  25. Bonkerstoker, Even Dr. Hasson is a victim of the website.. Check it out Ripoff Report | Dr Victor Hasson | Complaint Review: 434395 Seems like ripoffreport.com accepts accusations without any proofs. I suspect he is someone from Canada whom is a fan of Dr. Robert Jones.
