Advice for Hair Loss Sufferers Considering Hair Transplant Surgery

My Story

  1. "The clinic you mentioned though routinely delivers terrible work" Transplantedphil, don't you think that that is a very harsh statement? Dr. Bhatti has Patient cases posted on this Forum itself from 2012 on wards. I do agree with your statement that no clinic can deliver perfect results (I would add "all the time" to that statement). Hundreds of documented HT Patient cases over the last 10 years should be taken into consideration before "judging". Picking on "3 results" (out of thousands of cases) sounds unfair. I am "dumbfounded" that you are "dumbfounded" because this Patient shortlisted Dr. Bhatti for his HT procedure. I respect your opinion but wanted to share my opinion too. Best regards, California
  2. Dr. Bhatti and Dr. Demirsoy have the same method, they make all the slits and all the holes stay open for hours drenching in blood while the technicians implant each graft into the open holes (Demirsoy does up to 4000 grafts per day so a lot of open holes). Dr. Demirsoy charges 1.25€/graft and Dr. Bhatti charges 1.67US/graft with tax. Dr. Arika charges for 1.97US/graft with tax but I am not sure she only does 1 patient per day and the surgery description says she only does crucial slits so it looks like a tech run surgery. These are indeed the cheapest Doctors doing just 1 patient per day but I would never chose this kind of FUE method! I would just save up and go with a Doctor doing the whole the surgery so that every slit that is open is immediately implanted with a graft by the Doctor with the help of techs (not the other way around). These kind of Doctors don’t do more than 2000 grafts per day because it’s just not possible to do more when it’s Doctor doing the whole surgery. Dr. Bruno Ferreira and Dr. Ximena Villa both use the Lion Implanter Pen, this device basically opens the hole and implants the hair graft at the same time. If FUE has evolved to Implanter Pens that eliminated the time the holes were open without grafts implanted I have to wonder why people are going to Doctors that still open all the holes for techs to implant? Maybe these people are unaware that this affects the graft survival rate and that’s the reason why these clinics need to take more grafts to do the same work that Doctors I mentioned before can do with much less grafts.
  3. Hi Inquisitive, Just an FYI At Dr. Bhatti/Darling Buds India Clinic, we publish our pricing on our website. We try to make it as transparent as possible. No ambiguity,. No confusion. No surprises. No other branches. No other doctors. Just a “one doctor show”......Dr. Bhatti. Here is the link: https://darlingbuds.com/hair-transplant-cost-packages Best regards, California
  4. Thank you @California for sharing the skype option. Shera is also in touch with me over PM and I think between the two of you and the skype option with Dr. Bhatti, I will have all my doubts answered in time. I am kind of in a fix between selecting Dr. Bhatti's FUE or Dr. Bansal's DHT. There are no other criteria's left to compare. I think I will look at the results from Darling Buds and Eugenix again next weekend and hopefully be able to decide this month. I think I just need to clear my head a little bit before I take up more time of others.
  5. Hi Inquisitive, I don't think that you can claim GST back (if visiting India) like you can in the UK. I am not a 100% sure on this but I have never heard of any visitor getting the GST back when leaving India. You seem to be on the right track. I would highly encourage you to research as much as possible before selecting your HT Surgeon. This is one thing that you can't afford to mess up on. Cost is important but what sucks more is the loss of donor grafts (if results are not good). If you have any specific questions in regards to Darling Buds/Dr. Bhatti, please feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer your queries. We wish you all the best. Regards, California
  6. Use this forum it is an invaluable resource, look at real patient results, and send private messages to patients, get unbiased information. Dr. Bhatti and Sethi put out solid results, I’ve seen good work from cinik as well. But I would expand your pool and consult with as many surgeons as possible. Take advantage of our virtual consultations they’re free https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Consult-a-Physician/hair-transplant-surgeons.asp
  7. Hi Folks, It took me long to post this similar to what it took me to decide for going for my HT 😊 Well in order for me to take you through my journey allow me to explicate it in phases……. About me: Indian by Nationality, currently 34 years of age, an individual highly cautious for his health and overall wellbeing. Hard working and quite disciplined in maintaining a decent lifestyle. Somewhat introvert in nature though can’t say completely. My Hair-loss story: I had thick dense curly hairs since my childhood. The bad phase of my hairs started when the good phase of my career started. I came to Dubai at the age of 24 post completion of my education MBA (Marketing). I got recruited in a MNC and was eager to achieve a lot. And like they say that all things come with a price tag, may be my precious hairs were the price of my professional achievements. It was around 3-4 years down the line since I started to realize that something is not going well with my hairs as I started noticing a lot of hairfall. As I told you I am very health cautious, I immediately tried to research/apply all possible ways and means to combat this hairfall, from hair oils to herbs, to supplements, to yoga, to fruits/ healthy diet, from homeopathy to allopathy to Ayurveda, what and what not…… You name it and I might have done it all to preserve my hairs. BUT……All in despair. Nothing seemed to have been affecting much. It was getting worse day by day and I had started to use hair fibers in order to conceal my agony. It had been 10 years since I was continuously battling and that was when I regained all my strength and decided that it’s time for me to get a HT done. My Hair Transplant story: Post making up my mind for HT, the most difficult step was to finalize a doctor/surgeon. Pause here…..when I say a doctor, I don’t just mean a doctor……I needed someone as good as the creator himself. My expectations were really sky high when it came to choosing someone for rectification of my devastated felicity, MY PRECIOUS HAIRS……. It seemed almost impossible to satisfy my expectation but I was determined….I visited numerous clinics, met multiple doctors/surgeons, continued with my routine online investigations and also got inclined towards couple of doctors though not fully satisfied. Then I remembered and approached one of my cousins whom I consider an encyclopedia. I reached out to him for assistance in my search. It took him few weeks before he could get back to me with certain recommendations. The final decision was obviously mine and I started conversing with the finalized ones. It was no later than my first conversation with Dr. Tejinder Bhatti, I was convinced that HE IS THE ONE……..He saw my pics and gave me an estimation of 3000 grafts (approx.). It was not the number of grafts which would have mattered to me nor the financial aspect. I could sense his expertise in his approach. We hardly had a couple of calls and exchange of may be couple of mails and I decided to get my HT done from him. Journey to Darling Buds Hair Transplant Clinic: 12th Jan 2018 was when I got my HT done from Dr. Tejinder Bhatti. It was around 2-3am when I reached Chandigarh on the same day and around 8am I was with Dr. Bhatti for my procedure. We just had a small chat discussing my hairline, temples and we were through. It took around 7 hours for the overall procedure. Dr. Bhatti did the most of the procedure himself. Upon completion of the procedure I was given Post Op care instructions and next day I went for my dressing which again was done by Dr. Bhatti himself. That was it and I was free. There was not a single moment of pain and discomfort. Dr. Bhatti and his team took extreme care overall. It was merely a span of 2 days and I would have never imagined that these 2 days are going to be the life changing ones for me. As a standard HT procedure, it took around 5-6 months since the transplanted hairs flourished exceeding my expectations. I no more had to use any fibers, no more had to be worried about hiding my pathetic hair condition. It was all natural. Dr. Bhatti had infused new life to my hairs and scalp. Till date all the people who know about my HT keep complimenting me every now and then. They all admire my current hair looks. W.r.t. the people who don’t know about my HT, they can’t even make out that I have done any treatment. It’s so natural that nobody can even guess it in their wildest dreams. You may refer pics and evaluate on your own. SUMMARY – Words such as skilled, adept, experienced, apt, professional can be considered a synonym for Dr. TEJINDER BHATTI. He is a master of his game. A profound HT surgeon who has the ability to furnish outstanding results. The entire team at Darling Buds clinic is extremely friendly, co-operative and caring. Though I don’t remember all the names but Shalini and Puneet are 2 individuals out of the team with whom I have already developed a bonding. Dr. Bhatti and team manage even the minutest thing from the inception till cessation with extreme care. The overall atmosphere of the clinic is completely apt. The results produced by Dr. Bhatti are prolific and he can truly be regarded as a man with magical hands. I would highly recommend Dr. Tejinder Bhatti and DARLING BUDS as “One Stop Destination” for all individuals who are highly caring about the health of their hairs. P.S. – The above is not at all an endorsement but the true narration of my self-experience with Dr. Tejinder Bhatti.
  8. Hi Indian_Canadian, Please note that you have the option of connecting with Dr. Bhatti via Skype. That way, you can have a virtual face to face conversation with the Doctor and make sure that you get all your questions answered in detail. We wish you all the best. Regards, California
  9. Dr. Bhatti answered all of my questions (though in one word or one liners), but I wasn't expecting much more from email consultation. When I sent my new photos after haircut to him, he assessed them and increased the grafts from 2500 to range of 2800-3000. He has a discounted price in the summer months of April to June which in my opinion is unbeatable in India for a surgeon of his caliber. Personally, I don't judge the doctor if 2-3 bad cases pop up. What I will judge is how the doctor handled the case that went bad. Was he understanding and cooperative? Did he offer a free repair or refund? How did he communicate and how seriously did he take it? When you chose a HT technique, you as a patient also assume a certain risk. If you want to go the FUT route, there is no better value for money than Dr. Soni I would think.
  10. Thank you @watterot for the insight. I look forward to your post documenting the results of your HT with Dr. Bhatti. Good Luck! Cheers!
  11. Hi, I recently got my HT done with Dr. Bhatti after personally visiting both Darling Buds and Eugenix. Both are good options. Eugenix is a bit expensive if you go for the package with Dr. Bansal and / or Dr. Sethi. With Dr. Bhatti there is only one option with him doing the extractions and slits; technicians doing the rest. I am however quite impressed with the recent results Eugenix can come up with. Approx 3000 seems like a good estimate for you and your donor area seems strong. You seem to be great candidate for a HT.
  12. We have reached out to Dr. Bhatti, and we are awaiting his reply, we ask that you allow him to respond some of your comments publicly.
  13. A qualified doctors would be able to comment on the number of grafts needed. I recently had by procedure with Dr. Bhatti (3500 grafts). I had a consultation with Eugenix as well. They had quoted 4000 grafts. Both are profession and great options in India. There are no specific FUE questions I can think of. You could check on the punch size and the resulting scars (dots). But other than that I would focus on the hair-line design, density, future donor harvestibility etc. Nothing different from what you would ask in a FUT procedure. A no-shave option would not be feasible in your case. Based on the discussions I've had with doctors it is only feasible in cases where the graft requirement is low. Since you're looking the maximize the number of grafts I would go for the regular option. Look at some of the examples on this site. Most FUEs are shave options. Cheers,
  14. Any specific reason for the India option? Price? In India I believe the most popular options are Eugenix and Dr. Bhatti. Both are FUE. Eugenix seems to be having great results with large / mega sessions like you would need. Why not consult with both and decide?
  15. Patient: 26 year old Suffering from traction alopecia 2654 grafts were transplanted by Dr. Bhatti. HT technique used: FUE The "after" pictures are from 1 year post op. Here is link to the video for this Patient case: Best regards, California
  16. Extensive area of baldness Grade 5 covered in single sitting with strategic placement of grafts. Patient: 32 years old Hair loss type: Type 5 HT technique used: FUE Number of scalp grafts planted: 3212 The result at the one year mark are satisfactory and the patient has come for touch ups. Video link: Case details: You were advised 6000-10000 grafts? Do you know that your chosen hair transplant clinic has assessed your scalp donor and that the advised graft numbers that will meet your long-term goals? It is not infrequent that a patient hears that for his Grade 5 or 6 pattern of androgenetic baldness he will need up to 6000 scalp grafts. This is a fantastic number and it is obvious to the well informed that these many grafts are not possible in one go. However there are clinics that do a whole lot in one go throwing caution to the wind and playing with the health and aesthetics of the scalp door area. Needless to say, the donor gets over harvested, there is extensive permanent shock loss of the donor area and moth-eaten appearance which is not amenable to revision hair transplant. It is best to assess the scalp donor and see how much harvest will be just enough to preserve the original look of the scalp donor so it does not look over harvested. These are the cases in which strategic placement of grafts for extensive areas play a congenial role. This approach does not harm the patient’s donor zone and also keeps enough grafts available in future to fulfill the patient’s long term hair restoration goals. Best regards, California
  17. @sunnybadhair I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'm sending you a private message, id like your full name and date of surgery so I can reach out to Dr. Bhatti for his comment on your case.
  18. Hi There is no point to hearing this or that. Doctors are well experienced and doing well with there results as well. Its naturally who ever done his hair transplant with Dr. Bhatti they got only experience for him. And wherever done with Eugenix they will give feedback on Eugenix. Its not a big deal. It's not a Issue for who does what. They run there own clinic and they know there Pacific job as well. We can't judge them on any story. Both are got so many results on YouTube and this thread. Any one can judge that easily. And of day you deside where to go. I have done my research Dr. Bhatti told me in my case 2800 grafts And Dr. Sethi told me about 4000 grafts. And he did even more without extra cost. And you may see the results. Even after 18 month Dr. Pradeep is like brother to me. They keep in touch with me. And even staff. So i called for Eugenix. There is no Issue with any other clinic from my side. Even there is so many patient ask me on my private inbox and they done with Eugenix. And they also happy as i am. And might be i go for my wife as well at Eugenix. And that as well will share with you on this thread for sure. So good luck and best of luck.
  19. Hi Jacob, Thank you for sharing your HT journey. Really happy for you. Thanks also for your kind words about Dr. Bhatti. I am glad that you liked the city of Chandigarh! Please keep the updates coming. Best regards, California
  20. Hello Niko, Just a few questions which would be really helpful if you could answer them, With the photos where you have your face covered with your hands were they taken after your results with Dr. Bhatti? Were you considered by the doctors to have good donor hair? And would it be okay if you could kindly upload a small video clip of your hair line and midscalp, crown on youtube (set to private or a link that only we can see) just to get an idea of the density that one can achieve with the number of grafts you've had (12000 in total) as I believe my hair loss is similar to what you were before your hair transplant with Dr. Bhatti as this would give us a good idea of what one can achieve. Thanks alot!
  21. I have been losing hair since I was 19yrs old and I was on and off minoxidil since I was 24 but at 28yrs I completely stopped minoxidil for 1 yr and it was the worst decision ever. I lost almost all my hair within this 1 yr. I tried to get back on minoxidil and finasteride but it did not help. At age 30, I finally decided that I will do HT. After some research and some consultation with various doctors in Chicago, including Dr.Vladamir Panine, Dr.Allan Purgangao and some doctors in India including Dr.Madhu and Dr.Bhatti. I finally decided to go ahead and fly to India to perform my HT with Dr.Bhatti. Here is my experience with Dr.Bhatti at Darling buds. I reached India on 8th of Oct 2018, Dr.Bhatti had arranged transportation from Delhi airport to Chandigarh. It's a 3hrs ride which was pretty decent even after the long 19hr flight. I was taken directly to the hotel where I slept few hours. At 430pm local time a car was sent to pick me up from the hotel for my consultation with Dr.Bhatti. The consultation was about my hairline design and inspection of my donor area, after which blood sample were taken for necessary investigation. Day of the surgery. I was give antibiotic and sedative injection. I was drowsy very quickly and felt slight pinch at the back of my head at the beginning but soon I fell asleep and did not feel any pain. The surgery was about 7hrs during which a total of 2476 grafts were harvested from the donor area. Single - 328 Double - 1657 Triple - 491 I did not have any pain after the surgery and came back from dressing the donor area early next morning. The healing was pretty good and on the 3rd day my dressing was completely taken off, I never took any pain medication after the surgery. I am pretty pleased with the healing process so far. I have posted pictures taken on the day of the surgery and progression on week 1 , 2, and 3. Dr.Bhatti has prescribed to take finasteride 1mg + 5mg biotin and spray minoxdil 5% for the first 6 months only to promote hair growth. I am taking the medication religiously and hoping for the best outcome.
  22. My donor area 7 months post FUE. No visible marks or scars after short hair cut! FUE - the golden harvest!
  23. Hello all, i've decided to go for FUE procedure in India. And after quite a bit of online research and referring to the contents of this website, i've zeroed it down to Dr. Bhatti (Darling buds) and Dr. Kapil Dua (AK clinics). I've seen quite a bit of good reviews (and videos) about both surgeons as well as at least one bad review for each on this forum. Can you all please share your thoughts/pointers on both, to help me make the decision? It would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot
  24. Can you post pictures of what your hair looked like before having any surgeries? We discontinued Dr. Doganay's participation years ago, I hope he has improved his practice since. Dr. Feriduni, Bisanga and Erdogan are all great surgeons, Dr. Bhatti has put out quality work as well and is probably the cheapest out of all of them. But yea, if you live in the states that flight is a killer. I believe Dr. Bisanga has better pricing in his Athens clinic, and he no longer runs it with another surgeon that can't be named here.
  25. Interesting topic. Reminded me of an older write up by Dr. Bhatti. Sharing here because of it's relevance: My ABC of BHT: BHT is presently my favorite field! Though FUT is undoubtedly the Gold Standard of surgical hair restoration and shall always remain so, FUE rose in popularity due mostly to the fact that it has opened the horizons to a limitless supply of grafts by expanding the traditional donor availability. The other advantages may be debateable but this has no opposition even from die-hard FUT surgeons. Thanks to FUE the patient base has markedly increased in size. Repair cases and cases with extensive balding which were shunned earlier, can again think of getting back a “head full of hair.” I have a very different approach to a client with balding which I feel shall be progressive in the long term. I goad all patients with a long term plan for their progressive balding to allow me to harvest beard grafts (besides scalp grafts of course) for a better hairline definition and mid-scalp fill and keep their remaining scalp grafts as a rain check for future requirements especially in the crown. For example, for a 25 year old with type 3 vertex pattern, I would plant scalp hair within the first 1.5 cm along the hairline, mix scalp grafts with beard grafts in a laid down optimal ratio till the highest point of the head. For the crown area I would encourage him to accept a low density preferably with chest grafts or chest grafts with a sprinkling of scalp grafts. I never use beard hair for the crown area. It is only to be used for the mid-scalp and just behind the hairline. For me and my patients “only ABC is GOOD!” : I am not fond of using any hair other than beard, chest and axilla (in this order of preference) since leg, arm, belly hair, in my experience, take a long time to grow if at all. (A- Axilla, B- Beard, C-Chest). In darker racial group I do not venture outside the ‘shadow area’ of the beard which lies on and behind the jawline and above the Adam’s apple due to the possible risk of visible scarring). Given the fact that in a second session, you can harvest usually half the number of grafts again after a gap of 6 months, realization shall dawn upon you that an average patient (except East Asian) has a large donor area just waiting to be harvested. This realization is fast becoming the game changer today in the field of surgical hair restoration. As you read my thoughts on BHT, more and more clinics the world over are busy honing their skills to harvest more and more body grafts with lesser and lesser transection rates. Time is also of the essence and therefore the growing demand for motorized systems, especially the Safe Scribe which is simple, safe and efficient. Body hair, mostly alone, has been routinely used at my clinic for the following indications- 1. Hair transplant cripples 2. Extensive baldness with a poor donor area of the scalp and, 3. Camouflaging wide FUT scars. You can see some of my cases later where almost exclusive BHT was done for want of healthy scalp grafts. This is slowly becoming my core competence area. I am wedded to the Harris Safe Scribe System since 2010. It works very well for me even for BHT. With a surgical background I am more comfortable working with motorized systems than manual instrumentation. I use the manual punch only for areas like legs, arms etc.- areas I am not very fond of doing since this hair in my experience does not grow to the full satisfaction of my clients and myself. I use the following punches for BHT- 0.7 mm customized sharp punch for beard grafts harvest when there are mostly singles and if 2-3 I may use a 0.8 mm punch If there be any questions you may have for me, I would be pleased to answer to the best of my ability.
