  1. Uk hair transplant clinics = big time fraud I have been to see the so-called consultant from UK hair transplant clinics; I did see a chap named Paul Hill. I got a bed feeling from the start, as it was obvious he was no more than a pushy salesman with no interested in me or what was best for me, all the alarm bells rang straight away. The consultation was a hard sell from start to finish with the so called consultant having minimal knowledge of hair transplants and no interest in discussing anything except for how urgent it was for me to get this done a.s.a.p. to take advantage of the great limited time offers they have, I should preferably pay the deposit there and then or I might loos out on the deal, it reminded me of a door to door salesman offering double glazing! This guy has not had a hair transplant, his hair looks pretty poor and his only semi-medical training seems to be from his teeth whitening business. I walked away from the consultation thinking how desperate people that book with them must be, its obviously nothing else than someone trying to make a quick buck selling something rather then someone that has experience or knows what he is talking about. After the consultation I received an email with pretty great looking before and after shots, I almost starting thinking, hold on now, maybe I wasn’t fair to them, maybe I just had the consultant on a bad day and the clinic is actually pretty good, these results where after all pretty fantastic. After looking at the photos for s little while I realised that I had seen some of these photos before somewhere else. All the fantastic before and after shots they have are stolen from the following coalition hair transplant doctors (none of them works I the UK or has heard of the UK hair clinic): Dr William Parsley - Hair Restoration Surgeons, Hair Transplant, Surgical Hair Restoration, Hair Transplant Cost, Hair Loss Treatments, Hair Loss Doctors | Parsley-Waldman Hair Center, Louisville, Lexington, Nashville, Knoxville, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago, St. Lo Dr. Michael Meshkin - Dr. Michael Meshkin*Hair Transplant Surgeon in*Newport Beach,*California Dr Robert H True - Hair Clinic New York, New Jersey, Boston Dr Bradley Limmer - Bradley Limmer, MD*Hair Transplant Surgeon in*San Antonio,*Texas Dr Sharon Keene - Sharon Keene, MD*Hair Transplant Surgeon in*Tucson,*Arizona I have added a screenshot here with the photo from ukhairtransplantclinics.co.uk on the left and on the right you will have the original photos from Dr Robert H. True (Hair Clinic New York, New Jersey, Boston) I am sure that him the rest of the doctors will see this and take action against this scam clinic. Here is a bit more about the consultation: It was all about me loosing the change of a good price if I didn’t act quickly, here are a few phrases from the email: “Because there are now only a few surgery dates available for the promotion Please call me on 0800 043 0993 if you have any further questions or would like to arrange your treatment.” “In order to qualify for the above promotional savings the following would usually be necessary: 1) Make a surgery booking within 7 days of this letter “ At the consultation you indicated that it would not be possible for you to be treated in the promotional period, I have now spoken to our manager, who has agreed to hold the price until the above date, as long as you pay a deposit, in the next 7 days. Believe me in person its worse than this! I wanted to share this with the rest of you to make sure you don’t waste your time going to these consultations and even more importantly don’t get ripped off by paying anything to this company.
  2. My Local HT doctor put on his magnifying glasses and sifted through the back of my head and said no problems there your donor area is looking good I've sent my pictures already to many of the doctors recommended on this site and not one other then Erdogan sees any miniaturization issues in the donor area ? After seeing my donor pictures and video whats your opinion you have alot of HT experience here Do you think Dr. Jim Harris, Denver, CO - Dr. Robert True & Dr. Robert Dorin would turn me down ?
  3. Sparky, I know that a number of hair restoration physicians recommended by our community do offer body hair transplantation however, in terms of like hair specifically, I’m not 100 cent positive. You could always check with Dr. Robert True. I know he had presented something on body hair transplantation in the past. I can’t recall specifically as to whether or not he mentioned leg hair but it certainly would be worth looking into. Are you considering a body hair transplantation procedure yourself? Is there a reason why you don’t wanna consider Dr. Umar who has an outstanding reputation for producing excellent results? Best wishes, Bill
  4. Dr. True performed an FUE of 365 grafts to restore contour and thickness to this patient's sideburns. It is typical for this region as well as the temporal areas to mature faster than the top. This result is 5 months post-op. 89 singles, 138 doubles, 3 threes.
  5. Hello everyone! So I have decided to undergo surgery with Dr. Robert Dorin in NY given the excellent results I saw on his website and the encouraging reviews about him and his fellow associate Dr. True on this forum. Given my case, I was offered the two traditional routes but for different grafts: 1. The FUT route for 2,200 to 2,500 grafts 2. The FUE for 1,700 I know both will produce different results and they both have different fees so I really do not know what to choose. I have a budget and want to make the most out of it. Another confusing point is that this guy http://www.truedorin.com/photogallery/case-studies-male-5567/1205-fut-by-dr-true-19937 (who's featured as a case study on their website) had a fewer number of grafts and to me his pre-operation state is somehow similar to mine! I let you decide, maybe I'm wrong My priority is to lower the hairline - density is secondary. In addition, i like to keep my hair short on the sides and in the back so, although the FUT route is really tempting given the high number of grafts, I really don't want to create a new different problem with the scar in the back of my head. Here are my pictures. What is the number of grafts you think I should choose? Many thanks! )
  6. So it's been an incredibly long time since I've posted any pictures of my hair. But to show you that hair transplants really do stand the test of time, I am posting freshly taken pictures (taken today) approximately 8 years after my last hair transplant. I've had a grand total of just over 9600 follicular unit grafts done in 4 sessions over a 5 year period. I went with 3 different doctors. I've listed them below. Procedure 1: Dr. Theodore Katz - 1600 Grafts Procedure 2: Dr. Robert True - 2249 Grafts Procedure 3: Dr. Victor Hasson - 3701 Grafts Procedure 4: Dr. Victor Hasson - 2099 Grafts You can view more detail on my patient website by clicking here. Note that I really didn't brush my hair before I took the pictures but when I do, it usually looks better and even more dense. The back is still quite thin and I sometimes consider going for another procedure to thicken things up. But since it really doesn't bother me, I've put it off for some time. It's debatable whether or not I'll get another one. But if I do, I'll probably go the FUE route because I don't want to risk stretching the scar after 4 procedures via strip already. Feel free to share your opinions below. Best wishes, Bill
  7. This patient result showcases restoration via 2 FUT procedures totaling 5332 follicular units. 7,748 hairs transplanted. Propecia part of regimen.
  8. That is correct. Patients have no say over how I or my staff perform any part of the procedure. In fact I have that in my consent form and it must be agreed to and signed before a procedure may commence. There can only be one chef. As for your question to the moderators. My inclusion of a qualified doctor into my established practice is far from unprecedented in general medicine or HT in particular. I know of several other Coalition members off the top of my head who have included new associates who still work in these practices to this very day. To name a few in no particular order: Dr. Robert Bernstein, Dr. Michael Behneer, Dr. Robert True, Dr. Ron Shapiro, Dr. David Segar (my mentor r.i.p.), Dr. James Harris, Dr. Edmund Griffin, At one point most if not all of us were apprenticed to a more experienced HT doctor. Without this right of passage there would be no continuous existence of a method or practice. A successful practice needs to bring on new personnel as it ages. But it must be done responsibly and systematically. Those doctors listed above have succeeded in doing that, and I shall as well.
  9. Hi, everyone. Thanks for reading. This post is really overdue. I had an FUT surgery of 2,144 grafts with Dr. Dorin in New York City back in August - on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. I left a post in my blog, but never here, where there is more traffic. Right after surgery, I was swept away by an incredible teaching course load at the local university, where I teach, which prevented me from maintaining contact here. Better late than never with posting my review and experience. I have been suffering with hair loss in the frontal third of my head since 2008, when I was twenty-four years old. I think you can consider me Norwood 3A. I am one of those people who did not think traveling was necessary in order to get a hair transplant, so I stuck around in Massachusetts, and got two smaller, definitely sub-par transplants. The first was with Dr. Robert Leonard of Newton Centre. He never revealed the number of grafts, and the results were pluggy and disappointing, as I had "sprinkles" of hair rather than something significant. This doctor had no bedside personality, even raised his voice at me one during the procedure, and frequently made me feel rushed while I was visiting with him. The second procedure was with Dr. Mark DiStefano of Worcester. While DiStefano is a friendlier and more generous man, the FUE of 1,100 grafts produced barely any yield - and I mean barely - after more than 10 months. The majority of both procedures was entrusted primarily to technicians. After the second procedure, I was emotionally devastated, and have not felt right emotionally for a looong time. Let my story be an example to all of you thinking about "settling" on a non-coalition doctor: DO NOT DO IT. I repeat: DO NOT DO IT. Do your research (I did not do the proper research), and be prepared to travel, whether that is to Vancouver, Ottawa, New York City, or wherever. Never let distance you back. New York City is where I went to seek the assistance of Dr. Robert Dorin. After consulting with coalition doctors in the States and in Canada, I decided Dr. Dorin was the one I wanted to entrust with my hair. I was impressed with his published results and his clear knowledge of the latest developments in hair restoration. I felt like I had a good rapport with him on the phone, and definitely did in person. He expected 1,800 to 2,000 grafts would greatly improve the condition of my hairline and behind it. He and his amazing staff removed the old scar left by Dr. Leonard, and were able to extract 2,144 grafts from it! He decided that the best course of action for the multi-grafts hairs moved into the immediate hairline was to camouflage them rather than remove them and place them elsewhere. You can see in the photographs what my hair condition looked like at that point, and what Dr. Dorin did with it. Peter at True and Dorin informed me that they removed the following numbers of grafts: 786 singles 1,328 doubles 30 threes Dr. Dorin and his staff were amazing. Dr. Dorin was intimately involved in pretty much each and every step of the transplant process. He must have spent an hour or so making the 2,000+ incisions; the other doctors took maybe ten minutes at most doing that. He was very careful with the scar, and able to remove most of the old one. He was letting a doctor-in-training shadow him, and I remember how he was explaining to this young man how imperative it was while making the incisions that they be made in certain ways so that the hair could grow just so. Dr. Dorin is clearly an artist and scientist all in one. He struck the perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism. His staff was extra-supportive and caring. I purchased the ATP spray, and used it when I was supposed to. Dr. Dorin and the others urged me to come the morning after the surgery for the scalp cleansing (something great do do post-op), which removed a lot of the bloody guck from the scalp, and readied me for my long bus ride home. I was very impressed with True and Dorin. You can see my photographs. I'll be posting my 4+-month photos ASAP.
  10. Hey Guys, This is my first post ever. I've been viewing this site and it has been incredibly helpful in providing me insight into the world of hair transplantation. This community has kind of been my only support structure in making my decision to get a HT. I'm getting my first HT with Dr. Robert True in NYC on Friday, 10/26/12. So just 5 days away! I'm definitely nervous when it comes to the actual procedure, the donor scar, work arrangement, etc. I've only spoken to Dr. True via phone and e-mail, and by sending him countless amount of pictures of my hair. Dr. True decided to go with 2,500+ graft procedure, but he said that once he evaluates my donor area in person on the 26th, he might decrease it down to 2000 since my donor area is not as dense after I sent him pictures of it after a recent haircut I got. I believe I'm a Norwood II approaching Norwood III, and my goal is to obtain a thick (natural, of course) hairline and hopefully add some thickness to the rest (I have diffuse thinning throughout my entire head). Any advice you guys can give me? I'm still a little nervous since I'm going in for a procedure that is essentially going to change my life (for the better, I hope).
  11. If you are looking for a DOCTOR DO NOT LET LOCATION DETERMINE WHO YOU CHOOSE. That being said I had a procedure with Dr True in 1998. I had previous work done and went to Dr True for a repair. He did not do a good job and I was very unhappy with the results. He did not do what he said he would be do in terms of results. In short he made a bad situation worse.
  12. Hey guys, So I had my first HT with Dr. True yesterday morning! My morning didnt start off too well because I ended up in the same address of his practice in Brooklyn instead of Manhattan, and walked into a ghetto apartment building that smelled like a bathroom and realized that.....this cannot be where Dr. True is haha. So i finally figured out where his office in Manhattan was and reached there at 9am even though my appointment was at 8am. Dr True and his staff were great, we joked around about the entire situation and they did not make me feel nervous at all. Dr. True is definitely a comfortable person to be around, and I'm glad I chose him as my restoration Doctor. So the procedure itself was painless as most of the people on the thread have previously mentioned. There was some slight pain when it came to the anesthetic injections which had to be done a couple of times to numb the donor area. The strip was removed which was also painless, it sounded like he was cutting potato chips which happened to be my tissue haha. Of course the staff (who were so accommodating and polite) gave me two Valiums to calm me down. Dr. True predicted that we would be able to harvest around 2,200 grafts. Unfortunately, due to my less than average donor density, we were only able to obtain 1,704 which was a little disappointing, but its better than nothing. I have diffused thinning throughout my head, with my hairline being thinner than my crown. So Dr. True focused on restoring the hairline, and putting me on Propecia to assist with the rest of my thinning. Overall, the procedure was painless, the hardest part was laying in one position for hours as Dr. True made the incisions in my scalp and the staff were placing in the hairs. The procedure lasted about 6 hours. I had no pain leaving the office (mixed with some local anesthesia and ibuprofen helping out), and I reached home fine with no issues. I do feel tightness around the donor area, and there was some pain, but I'm a sensitive guy and think its manageable so it should not be a problem to anyone else if that is a worry for some of you. Dr. True provided me with a post-op DVD that explains exactly how to take care of myself when I'm home, which was definitely informative and something easy to refer back to time after time. Even after the procedure was done, he answered all my questions thoroughly and even gave me a T&D baseball cap to rock since the one I brought was considered to be too tight! My advice to those considering a hair transplant, do not worry about the pain. The most pain you will feel are the injections, which are not even that bad, and that's coming from a guy who thinks every little thing hurts haha. The scar so far is barely noticeable and its covered with my existing hair (remember I have a low density donor area and even with that the scar is fairly concealed). I'll try making a blog and update you guys with my progress. I do believe though I will need a second transplant to obtain the results I want, but I'm hoping that with the current transplant, propecia (if I see no side effects) and soon minoxidil, I can have great results! Let me know, or message me if any of you have questions or comments! Thanks!
  13. Hi, everyone. Thanks for reading. I am excited to share with you about my recent hair transplant surgery with Dr. Robert Dorin (in New York City) on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. I have been suffering with hair loss in the frontal third of my head since 2008, when I was twenty-four years old. I think you can consider me Norwood 3A. I am one of those people who did not think traveling was necessary in order to get a hair transplant; so I stuck around in Massachusetts, and got too smaller, definitely sub-par transplants. This doctor has no bedside personality, even raised his voice at me one during the procedure, and frequently made me feel rushed while I was visiting with him. The second procedure was with Dr. Mark DiStefano of Worcester, Massachusetts. While DiStefano is a friendlier and more generous man, the FUE of 1,100 grafts produced barely any yield - and I mean barely - after more then 10 months. The procedure was a bust, presumably due to poor technique. The majority of both procedures was entrusted primarily to technicians. After the second procedure, I was emotionally devastated, and have not felt right for months. I cannot and will not recommend either of these practices. He and his amazing staff removed the old, ugly, way-too-large scar left by Dr. Leonard, and were able to extract 2,144 grafts from it! (Thankfully I have above-average donor density.) He decided that the best course of action for the multi-grafts hairs moved into the immediate hairline was to camouflage them rather than remove them and place them elsewhere. You can see in the photographs what my hair condition has looked like for the last year or so, and what Dr. Dorin did with it. Peter at True and Dorin informed me that they removed the following numbers of grafts: 786 singles 1,328 doubles 30 threes Dr. Dorin and his staff were amazing. Dr. Dorin was intimately involved with pretty much each and every step of the transplant process. He must have spent an hour or so making the 2,000+ incisions; the other doctors took maybe ten minutes at most doing that. He was very careful with the scar, and able to remove most of the old one. Dr. Dorin is clearly an artist and scientist all in one. He struck the perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism. His staff, and especially Gloria and Lisa, the two nurses/technicians who spent the most time with me, were extra-supportive and caring. I purchased the ATP spray, and have been spraying pretty much every hour, eagerly awaiting the good results that I am confident will finally come. They urged me to come the morning after the surgery for the scalp cleansing (something great do do post-op), which removed a lot of the bloody guck from the scalp, and readied me for my long bus ride home. Folks, I still cannot get over how impressed I am with Dr. Dorin and his and Dr. True's practice. I rate my experience as an A+. I enjoyed being with these people so much that I am considering making the journey all the way from Boston back to New York just so they can remove the sutures. (Perhaps that sounds crazy!) Now I am just going to town applying my ointments, taking my medications, and followign the post-op instructions to ensure an optimal result. Unfortunately, I think one of the grafts becoming dislodged while showering last night (at the front of the hairline too), but I guess that kind of thing happens.I lost a few on the way back to my hotel room after the surgery, but the doctor advised me how to keep them preserved, and they were able to get them back in where they belonged during the cleansing. I have said enough, I think. I could write an essay about my hair-loss experience and treatments thus far, but will let you ask me if you have any questions you want me to answer. To all of you considering hair restoration, think about contacting True and Dorin in New York City.
  14. Hi, everyone, So far I have had two hair transplants. The first was an FUT by Dr. Robert Leonard in October 2013 (unknown number of grafts, since he does not reveal the number ). The second transplant was an FUE in October 2014 (graft number 1,100). I am really disappointed with the results thus far; and neither doctor who worked on me is recommended on this site. (I have learned my lesson.) I have attached photographs of my hairline (my primary concern) and hair. (The hair loss has mostly been at the hairline and a little further back, as you can see more clearly in my "after shower" photo.) I reached out to Dr. Rahal, who feels a third transplant is necessary, and felt that was so based on looking at my results eight months post surgery 2. (The nine month mark for surgery 2 is right around the corner in early July.) Dr. Rahal recommends 2,000 grafts, which would be done with FUT since I cannot afford an FUE. Any thoughts? I just do not want to rush into anything anymore since I have been let down more than once now. I am also scared about depleting my donor area. Dr. Rahal may be able to see me in August. The problem is I may have to come up with a final decision on that within the next few hours; I do not have time to think about it since it is so close to now. I also have a consultation scheduled with Dr. True next month. Any thoughts on him? Thanks, everyone.
