  2. I actually consulted with Dr. De Freitas and his sessions aren't huge sessions. For example, Dr. DF recommended 2600 grafts for me over 2 days. So basically 1300 grafts a day. Which if you had 3 patients like me, that's still a hair under 4k grafts in a day.
  3. Good morning shadowcast. Thanks for your question. Dr. de Freitas, does perform 2 or 3 hair transplant surgeries per day. It depends on the characteristics of the day's cases. Best regards!

  6. May i know waht is the cost per graft of dr. rafael de freitas clinic, can anyone help me out with it,who has undergone transplant out there? I am new to the forum, this is my first query??
  7. Dr. De Freitas's rep, Ignacio is really helpful. @De Freitas Clinic
  8. I got recommended one of his videos on Youtube yesterday funnily enough. I have two issues with him. 1. He's not fully dedicated to hair transplants since he does like 20 different surgeries aside from hair transplants. He may not be as knowledgeable as someone who's fully dedicated to their craft like Konior. Plus, clinics like that sometimes just use the ARTAS robot because if they aren't doing hair transplants every day, it doesn't make that much sense to keep a team of techs on the sideline. 2. He comes off as more of a reaction Youtuber than a information Youtuber. Though to be fair, a lot of hair transplant advice is just very basic advice (i.e. FUE vs FUT, don't go to an unethical doctor, take fin etc etc). So at the very least he's going to be qualified to give the most basic advice. Just maybe not the in-depth knowledge you might get from a guy like Dr. Bisanga. I watched his Elon Musk video and it seemed to match up with what people (i.e. people in the HT community) are saying for the most part but when he estimated the cost of Musk's transplant I felt like it wasn't correct. He said $10 per graft, but that's more of an FUE price in a high CoL area in the US. Even in the Bay Area, you might only see $8 per graft for FUE and he's quoting $10 per graft for FUT. He specifically acknowledges that Elon got FUT but then still quotes an FUE price. And assuming Elon went to H&W (which is the general consensus on this board), then for FUT, they charge $5 CAD for the first 2k grafts and $3 for the rest. And then tack on the currency conversion (due to Elon being Canadian) and Elon would have paid less than 40% of Linkov's actual estimate. And that $10 figure also ignores foreign clinics like Eugenix, De Freitas, Couto, Lorenzo etc etc who are much cheaper and also have amazing results. The only doctor I can think of that comes close to $10 for FUT is Konior.
  9. Yeah, that's fair enough, I understand. Well, I can understand your logic behind wanting to stay in the UK with the option of easily access to the clinic if any issues arise etc, but the blunt truth is that the UK generally has poor options for HT surgery, the very few one or two who are ok (at least in my opinion) are very expensive (and not as good as cheaper options abroad). In addition to this, there is really only so much that's ever going to go wrong with a HT performed by a top surgeon. I've seen this sort of reasoning posted countless times by other people, but I can't think of any real problematic possible post op complications that are even anywhere near likely to happen in the first place with a good performing Dr. If you were that concerned, you could stay 5 days or so to let the scalp heal up to the point that an infection is extremely unlikely (even though it's unlikely in the first place) and then what else can really go wrong that you need to be close by? But, if you must stay in the UK, Dr. Reddy does seem to be a pretty top notch surgeon. He's going to cost you probably in the region of more than double than some of if not all the other surgeons I mentioned (as well as others I didn't) abroad, whilst in my opinion not being *as* good. So it just seems a bit crazy to me. But he's a good bet; the only person I'd consider in the UK personally. As far as the other two you mentioned, Farjo has been around for a long long time, but they're not known for outstanding results. They've had a couple of decent ones on here recently, but you want to pick a clinic that has many amazingly consistent patient posted results from start to finish, results that make you think wow I wish I could have that (especially if it's a similar case to yours and this is actually feasible), rather than oh yeah he looks better than before but there's X, Y and Z I can instantly critique it on. That's not to say HT's are perfect, be reasonable, but go and compare your listed choices in the UK to someone like De Freitas (patient posted on the Spanish forum) and tell me the results are anywhere near similar. As far as Arshad goes, I've said before I'm not a huge fan and I think he does mediocre work with some pretty decent results sprinkled in here and there along with some pretty bad results sprinkled in. I imagine I'll catch some flack for that, again, so I'll leave it at that. But he has a decent amount of patient results on here and the UK forum, so as I say, look them up. If upon seeing them you think 'wow, these are all consistently really good and I'm really impressed', then by all means go ahead with him. Yeah, your idea to compare UK and surgeons abroad is probably the best thing to do, just try to make sure they're majority patient posted, and then forget everything else and go with the surgeon who's results impress you the most and who you get the best gut feeling with upon speaking to the clinic themselves.
  10. Hello guys. After 4 and half years since my terrible experience with Asmed clinic and Dr. Koray Erdogan and after reading a lot of stories and after seeing a lot of results, after speaking with almost 20 clinics I had my personal consultations with 3 clinics which I consider the best and from which I want to choose the doctor for my repair HT: Dr. Rafael De Freitas, Dr. Juan Couto (with him after approximately 1 year of waiting) and Dr. Jose Lorenzo. Two of them said that my hair transplant result from Asmed clinic is very bad in all ways, from unnatural bad hairline, through very low density in recipient area, through very high number of used grafts, till almost exhausted donor area. In their opinions my result was caused by combination of unexperienced technicians (nurses) and long time between extraction and implantation of grafts which caused low survivalence of grafts. The third one didn't want to speak much about reasons of my failed HT and he focused on his work and future. Dr. De Freitas estimated number of grafts which is necessary to repair my result as 2000. Dr. Couto and Dr. Lorenzo both as 1500. The best looking clinic is Clinica De Freitas. It is very nice and clean, it looks new. Fuexpert clinic (Dr. Couto) and Injerto Capillar Medilor (Dr. Lorenzo) seems to be older but also nice and clean. The best approach has Dr. Lorenzo. He checked my hair with microscope, draw the hairline also with laser, checked my hair dry and also wet and made some calculations. Dr. Couto also checked my hair with combe and with microscope, Dr. De Freitas just combed my hair. The best price offered me Dr. De Freitas. He usually asked 3,5 euro per first 1000 grafts and 2,5 euro per every next graft, but in repair cases is the price higher. But he offered me 2000 grafts for 6.000,- eur (hotel and one session of PRP included), one day operation and he usually does 3 patients in 2 days depending on difficulty. Nurses extracting grafts with micromotor and implantation does Dr. De Freitas. He schedules his patients on summer 2022. Dr. Couto usually asked 4,5 euro per graft, but in repair cases the price is 5,- eur. He offered me 1500 grafts for 7.500,- eur (nothing incuded), operation will be divided in 2 days because of he want to do it slow and perfect according low capacity donor area. He usually operates 2 patients in one day. His nurse Esteban extracting grafts manual or with micromotor and implantation does Dr. Couto personally. He said that my result will not be perfect as usually his results are, according previous HT and weak donor, but it will be much better than now. He also said that he would achieve much better result with 2500 grafts than Asmed achieved with 4500 grafts. Now he schedules his patients for summer 2022 (like e.g. Dr. De Freitas). I have luck because of some patient canceled his surgery in september 2021 and he offered me his date. Dr. Lorenzo asked 5 euro per first 2000 grafts and 2,5 euro per every next graft. He offered me 1500 grafts for 7.500,- eur (2 nights in hotel are included), one day operation and he usually operates 3 patients in 1 day. Nurses extracting grafts manually and Dr. Lorenzo implants 80% of grafts (the rests are implanted by staff!). He scheduled his patient for autumn 2021 (first aviliable dates he had in September 2021). Please, according this informations, who of these 3 doctors will you choose? Thank you for your every opinion in advance.
  11. Not for single sessions. They do have very impressive transformations across multiple surgeries but for one offs 3000-3500 seems to be their limit. Again, to the sentiment others are putting forth, the fact that people will defend Bicer or Pekiner over ASMED just tells me that unfortunately not everyone in this world is all that bright or willing to use basic senses like eyesight. Its just unfortunate regurgitating of broader forum sentiment rather than any kind of honest informative messaging based on reality. Yes I went to ASMED, perhaps not for some others here but for myself that meant researching thousands (tens?) of results from different clinics and hundreds from ASMED, not simply listening to the loudest, most mentally ill patients or the ones that repeatedly make fake accounts to tarnish reputation. 7/10s on average for Bicer? Time to head to the optometrist. For people to suggest Bicer and Pekiner over HLC, well to be completely real they're venturing into new, unfounded territories of stupidity. Me personally, if I needed say 2-3000 grafts I'd take a strong look at HLC, beyond those numbers I'd go with ASMED. Honestly, I'd also consider Dr. Freitas. At HLC prices I'd 100% opt for Freitas, although I still think HLC is a very good clinic with a long term track record.
  12. Hello Everyone I am looking for some guidance as I’ve been on the forums for quite some time and am finally taking the plunge. I would like to book the procedure sometime by the end of summer/ fall. Trying to decide what surgeon to use to restore my hairline. I had a consultation with Dr. Rahal a few months back and was quoted 2,000 grafts FUE, however lately I don’t see many results from him and am losing some confidence. I’m based in New York so the travel there for me would be easy. I am also considering Dr. Freitas in Spain. any advise would be highly appreciated. Some background -25 years old -stabilized hairloss - been on finasteride for 7 years.

  14. REPAIR + RETOUCHING Patient operated by F.U.E. technique, with poor growth in recipient areas (entrances and frontal line). He presents fibrosis in all areas, with predominance in the temples. The donor and recipient areas in both cases are affected by fibrosis generated by the surgical material used. In addition there is a non-homogeneous and non-uniform extraction of the occipital area (more in the bilateral lower occipto-temporal area) with depletion of the same, where it is noticeable when wearing the hair shorter. Surgical plan for the 1st operation: Repair of the hair line and entrances in 2 days of intervention. Retouching after one year to increase density in frontal and receding hairline with naturalization of the frontal line. We will proceed to the extraction of multiple follicles of the first line and some misdirected follicles of the temples. Patient’s details: Sex: Male Age: 28 years old Level of alopecia: NW III Hair characteristics: Brown, straight and thin. Density: 69 Ufs/cm2 aprox. Grafts breakdown: 1 Grafts - 228 = 228 Hairs. 2 Grafts - 852 = 1704 Hairs. 3 Grafts - 1040 = 3120 Hairs. 4 Grafts - 187 = 748 Hairs. 5 Grafts - 5 = 25 Hairs. Total: 2.312 Grafts = 5.825 Hairs. Average: 2,51 Hairs/Graft. Post-Op treatment: Finasterida 1 mg/day. BEFORE DESIGN PLACEMENT 12 MONTHS RESULT RETOUCHING Sex: Male Age: 29 years old. 15. Well, I can only assume you're talking about me, seeing as I'm the only one who has recently joined and has 15 posts within this thread at the time of your comment, or should I say completely unfound accusation to be more accurate. Not really sure what your problem is, but I can only say that I find your statement to be pretty indignant. Firstly, if you go back and read up, I think you'll find that it in fact was not me who mentioned anything about Dr. Arshad being worthy or unworthy of recommendation; that was another user. I simply advised another forum member of what I personally feel would be in their best interest by a country mile; to pick Dr. Bisanga over Dr. Arshad for an FUT procedure on Afro hair, and on a female at that (we all know that female hairlines are a skill in and of themselves....). So what If I said that I don't find his work to be particularly impressive? It's my honest opinion, there is absolutely nothing odd about that in any way and it's frankly bizarre you would state otherwise. I happen to be from a city in the UK not so far from where Dr. Arshad is in Leeds, and have been following his work since on the UK forum since before he even popped up on your radar over here; I even considered him at one point for my upcoming procedure. I never said he was a terrible surgeon or does terrible work, just that his results don't impress me anywhere near the same degree as a number of the top European/US doctors do (and yes, I'm talking a collective amount of patient posted results here, not one offs or clinic posted as you seem to suggest. Think Dr. Bisanga, Ferduini, Konior, H&W etc etc on here.... De Freitas, Ximena Villa, Pinto etc over on the Spanish forums. Unimpressive results, whilst they do happen, are in my opinion rare/occasional with these high caliber surgeons, as well as others... that isn't a comprehensive list, just some off the top of my head for anyone reading). In my eyes his results just aren't on par with those sorts of surgeons I mentioned - I'm not a fan of the large graft numbers in a single day, and indeed just in general with a number of the results that I've seen so far. I've also seen some pretty good results for the record. Isn't the whole point of this forum to have an open dialogue and try to offer information to other users, I may be a newbie on this site, but I think I've amassed a decent amount of knowledge on the subject of hair transplantation in the past few years during my research. I'm not really one for online forum posting, but I felt that I owed it to give back some knowledge to those in the same position as I was a few years back looking for answers, so I joined up to do so. I was just giving advice to the OP of the thread as its a decision we all know will impact the rest of your life, so I advised what was best for her in my opinion. So, I'm either a shill, using a duplicate account or a previously banned user? Hmm ok then, makes sense. Go ahead and check my IP, my fist time joining the forum mate. As for being a shill, most of my posts have been on a couple of threads regarding meds as I'm interested in the prevention/medical/scientific side of things - who am I shilling for exactly, Merck? Also, when did I say I was an expert in anything. That was all you. To be honest I don't even know why I've taken the time to write this lengthy response back, but I think it's good for people to see if this is how you're going to act just because I, what, said I'm not the biggest fan of a doc who is recommended here? I came here to offer a bit of advice where possible and post my own Transplant results with Pinto at the end of the year to give back, it's not really something I absolutely couldn't wait to do, in fact I'd rather not, but I felt it was only fair to pay it forward. But, and look I do have some respect for you for moderating the site Melvin; it's existence helped me a lot, if you don't approve of me and you want to accuse me of this and that then fair enough I'll just be on my way and you can ban me and delete this comment - as I have a feeling you might just do - it makes no difference to me.
  16. I understand your concerns - and by the way, I wasn't suggesting you were neurotic or anything, I was just saying if you happen to be the overly anxious, paranoid sort of type then it's probably best to steer clear and not nocebo yourself into a bad state as people like this generally always tend to convince themselves of the worst, even when there's nothing actually physically wrong. Anyway, as I say, I can understand your position after reading that you've had bad experiences in the past. If you don't want to take it then that's completely up to you of course. You don't have to, you just have to accept that you're much more likely to experience further loss than if you did take it. Regarding your pic, you don't have too much more to lose on the top, no. But, you're essentially a NW5 from what I can see, however it looks like your crown doesn't dip down the back of your head at all, and your sides aren't too low, although they are dropping a bit right now by the looks of it. So all in all, based off that pic (would need to see different angles really to judge properly) you're a somewhat less severe NW5 maybe. So, although you might think you don't have much more to lose, go and look up a NW5 vs a NW7, that crown - could - easily drop another few inches deeper into the back of your head. Not saying it will happen, in fact, the fact you're 55 and it hasn't is probably a pretty good sign that you won't go that far, would be best to get examined by a good surgeon. You certainly could just go ahead with a couple of Hair Transplants and forego the meds, yes. With your age, you could well be correct that there is little left to lose, and you very well might not lose too much more hair now. But like I say, you could still progress to a NW7 in say the next 10-20 years, I have no way of knowing. If I was you I would consult with some great doctors and get their take. And get scalp examined for miniaturisation to predict future loss. A good doctor is probably going to advise two procedures a year apart; the frontal third first at probably 3 to 3500 ish grafts, followed by the crown/midscalp at around 2-2500 grafts. After this, you might have anywhere from 0-2000 grafts left for any future procedures. depends on your donor, but you'll probably be looking at being close to your limit (if you go straight FUE anyway). I don't think it is the most irresponsible decision in your case to go ahead without fin considering your age, and I imagine as long as your donor is decent and you're not clearly miniaturising into a nw7 pattern upon examination, most doctors will consider you to be an ok candidate without the fin. I would get in touch with Dr. Bisanga, Dr Bruno Pinto, Dr Ximena Villa, Dr Ferudini, Dr. Bruno Ferreira and Dr. Rafael De Freitas and get their take, but that's just my personal list of my current favourite doctors. Do your own research and come to your own conclusions of course. If you're in the States, and don't want to travel (all of those options will be considerably cheaper than US docs and just as good/better than some, but it is a long way) then look at Hasson and Wong, Dr. Konior, Dr. Shapiro, Dr. Cooley - there's more but that's just off the top of my head as I've never considered doctors over the pond.
  17. Have been a fan for a long time, Dr. De Freitas really is the best in the game at the moment imo. Can only echo the sentiments of the guys above vis-à-vis the exceptionally high presentation standards (these should be the norm for any clinic worth their salt!). Also watched the video, two monster results. I would never for a moment imagine either patient had elected to have a hair transplant if I saw them, remarkable stuff!

  19. You absolutely don't need PRP, so if the doctor is insisting that you do then he may well be trying to upsell you as you seem to be suggesting. It is debatable as to how efficacious PRP is or isn't, both from anecdotal evidence from clinics/patients and also within the existing literature on the subject. It seems for some that it can help to regrow/maintain hair, but for most I would have to go out on a limb and say that it does nothing but drain their bank account. That's not to mention the fact that there is absolutely no regulation around what actually constitutes/makes up a PRP treatment; most places will employ their own techniques of how they prepare it, some may actually be useful, whilst others may be completely ineffective. What I'm trying to say is that there is no standardisation and you don't know if you're getting the most half-arsed PRP treatment possible or not. In any case, I'm not really a big believer that it does much/anything at all to help. In regards to the surgeon not being able to plant grafts as there is already a fair amount of hair there that is miniaturised, that is fairly common practice. Some surgeons opt not to implant in thinning areas too heavily as they believe it will shock the somewhat unhealthy hairs and they will never come back, others seem to have no problem doing so and will implant in the existing hair, I've seen lots of cases of both, but either way there's nothing suspect about him saying that. As for finasteride, he is right there. It very well might allow for regrowth in the crown and as a result the need for grafts to be placed there may be negated entirely, so it is best to give it a go for a year or so and see if that's the case or not. Also, if you're progressively thinning (as essentially everyone who is balding due to AA is) then you're just going to keep losing hair if you don't take finasteride - with it, clinical studies show around about an 85-90% chance of maintenance or improvement from baseline at the ten year mark, with no data beyond this time, bit it will continue to work. You will still lose hair over the decades, but it will be at a much slower rate and maybe you can stave off another hair transplant for a few decades (- maybe -) rather than (potentially) a handful of years if you don't take it. Yes, that is generally how it works; you transplant hair where you need it, then if/when you lose more hair down the road, you fill those areas in too (donor reserves permitting). To be honest, I would suggest forgetting about Harley street clinic, I believe that's where Dr. Reddy worked, but I think he has left/opened his own practice? I'm not sure to be honest, but you mentioned it would be a dr raja doing your procedure in any case. If you absolutely have to stay in the UK, Dr. Reddy seems like a decent choice, he is the only Dr. I would personally let touch my head in the UK, but for cheaper/a similar price you could easily go to the best options in the whole of Europe: Dr Bisanga, Dr Ferudini, Dr Bruno Pinto, Dr Rafael De Freitas, Dr Bruno Ferreira and Dr Ximena Villa is my personal list.
  20. Hi DJ, I'm a longtime lurker of the forum for a number of years, first time poster as I'm not much really one for online posting, but I thought I might be able to give you some recommendations and help out as I have been in the same situation. The head shaving and exposing what I have been doing my best to hide with hairstyling for all to see for a good 4+ months post op is also something that has really put me off since I began researching a few years ago, and honestly it seems there are limited options Europe wise for a non shaven recipient (I assume you're ok to shave the donor short for extraction and just leave the recipient unshaven anyways?). There are a number of good docs - Bisanga, Lupanzula etc - that partially shave the recipient area just on the borders of the implantation zone where the grafting will blend into native hair, but I also didn't want that either as it seems sort of pointless as you would be unable to style your hair as usual. The only doc that I could find that really offered a fully unshaven recipient zone was Mwamba, who I nearly pulled the trigger with, but ultimately the lack of patient and even clinic posted results put me off and I decided against in the end. Nothing against Dr. Mwamba though, he is an extremely competent doctor with a long time in the field and is without doubt a good surgeon, I just didn't want to go ahead without any real case references. In the end I was considering Dr. Bruno Ferreira or Dr. Rafael De Freitas and just biting the bullet and shaving my head as the end result is what really matters, but I came across Dr Bruno Pinto who, in my opinion, does work on par with the likes of De Freitas etc, and also offers unshaven recipient in the right cases (yours seems like one that fits the criteria from what I can see). If you go on the Spanish forums (there are two for some reason - recupera tu pelo & recupera el pelo) he has 40+ patient posted results from start to finish, pretty much all of which are very impressive. There is only one 'failure' in which the poor guy's results weren't very good in terms of growth and he later was diagnosed with Lichen Planopilaris after a scalp biopsy. Have a look anyways - I've booked in with him myself, not had actually had surgery yet so I can't really comment on anything else other than the results have impressed me, but maybe this will help you!

  22. Dr. De Freitas charges nearly the same price as the good clinics in Turkey. I believe it’s around 2.5-3 euros per graft. He’s one of the best.
  23. In Turkey, HLC is 2.7 Euro/graft. Dr. Pekiner is around 2.25/graft. Dr. Bicer is 3/graft. I think Dr. Keser is 3.5/graft. These are the most expensive clinics in Turkey Elsewhere, I'll offer my personal favorites. In Spain, there's Dr. Lorenzo and Dr. De Freitas. Dr. Cuoto has some brilliant use cases, but he's not accepting new patients. In Portugal, there's Dr. Bruno Ferreira and Dr. Bruno Pinto. And you should consider Dr. Bisanga in Brussels. Prices will be from 3-5 Euro/graft. All top shelf surgeons.
  24. I’m always pleased to see someone join the forum and benefit out of the knowledge we provide. That said, I feel Dr. Bisanga is probably top 5 hair transplant surgeons in the world, and he’s got the resume to back it up. His rep Ian @Raphael84 is doing a great job. They’re a safe bet. Since joining our network, Dr. De Freitas has definitely impressed me, both in his results and in the way he presents his cases. I strongly believe you should consult with both surgeons before making a decision. As for waiting, look at this way, you’ve been balding for years. A few months isn’t gonna make a difference in your overall journey.
