Advice for Hair Loss Sufferers Considering Hair Transplant Surgery

My Story

  1. Mr. Satish Menon, CEO of cricket club, Kings XI Punjab, India, is a 61 year old man who had his surgery with us on 29.9.2017. He believed that he would never be able to get a natural hairline and density. However, he proved himself wrong when he achieved his final results of the transplantation procedure with us. We restored his frontal zone and the number of grafts used were: Scalp donor - 3491 Mr. Menon was one of the patients who experienced a direct growth sans the shedding phase of the transplanted follicles. Within three months he had already had his first haircut when he visited us for a follow up. It is not unusual for the patients to achieve a direct growth when they undergo the Direct Hair Transplantation technique. Also attached are the video links to Mr. Menon's testimonials:

  3. Wow great results. Dr. Sethi and Dr. Bansal, what are your thoughts on transplanting beard hair in to the donor area to increase the density that was lost from FUE procedures? Do you guys have any examples? I would personally love to see.
  4. Hi all, Recently I've been really narrowing down my options, and will be looking to get a HT this year. Initially, I didn't know where to start, but now, thanks to this forum, I almost don't know who to choose. This wonderful forum has shown me so many great surgeons I had never even heard of. Ideally, I would love to visit Hasson and Wong, but their cost is quite high, at 8$ & 6$ USD per graft (I am an Australian, and the conversion makes me cry). I was tossing up between LA Fue Clinic, Keser, and Dr. Pradeep Sethi at Eugenix, just to name a few. I guess my main question is, when choosing your final surgeon, what specifically tipped the scales in their favour for those that have had transplants? I'm looking for some tools to narrow down my options, it's become very hard to bite the bullet and choose someone. Thanks everyone!
  5. Dr. Sethi & Dr. Bansal Explain that they use a 5x Carl Zeiss loupes for graft extraction in this below thread I don't know how that compares to microscopes for singling out grafts ? Maybe someone else can chime in on that ? Joe Tillman does an interesting job here of making a strong case for why you need to use microscopes to do it right
  6. Hello everyone! So I have been reading a lot of material on this forum. I have definitely received a tremendous amount of information from here. It has helped me a lot during my immediate post transplant phase. I believe that my own experience with hair transplantation could help others who are seeking the same too. Therefore, I have decided to post the entire documented journey of my transplantation procedure here on this amazing forum. Here it goes: I started to lose hair by the age of 23. The loss was very gradual and it was difficult for me to have noticed the decline in my density. Eventually, when the hairline stared to recede drastically and my look started to change for the worse, I started to panic. I never knew anything about hair. I was scared that it might be a disease or some form of disorder. But even that was not enough to compel me to visit a doctor and understand the situation. I started with different home remedies and self imagined cures in the forms of advertised shampoos or oils. However, the hair loss did not stop. I started to notice more and more hair come off every time I combed my hair or even if I wet it. The worst part was that I was losing all confidence because of my hair situation. I started using hair products and other styling products to help hide my baldness. But as most of you might know, that doesn't really work. However, to come to the point of all of the above, it was only after I met Dr. Arika Bansal and Dr. Pradeep Sethi that they actually told me the honest truth about hair loss intervention. They made me understand the why and the how. And also what should be done to address the issue. For the already bald area, it was too late. But for my pre existing hair, I was recommended Finastride at a dosage of 0.5 to 1 mg. I swear by this medication because i have 0 hair loss since I have started taking that medication. For the bald area, the doctors gave me a transplantation of 2815 grafts. I knew about hair transplantation prior to this too. But I was not sure whether i would be able to go through with it. I was definitely scared of the pain. I couldn't quite bring myself to go for the procedure. However, the procedure was painless, contrary to my belief. It was simple. But it was lengthy (oh well!). And you gotta do what you gotta do. So now through the pictures, I shall show you the progress of my results.
  7. Mr. Yadav was a 26 year old man with aGrade IIIA baldness. He required his hairline to be recreated and the density in the frontal zone to be augmented. The 2742 grafts that were transplanted wrere taken from the scalp donor. The results presented to you is after 1 year. He has also been precribed Finastride and minoxidil to stop any further progression of baldness on his scalp for the preservation of his pre existing hair. Scalp grafts: 2742 Singles: 236 Doubles: 1622 Triples: 654 Quadruples: 230
  8. Hi. Dr. Pradeep is founder of Dht. Tecnic. And he do only fue with dht tecnic with large area cover as well. So for my results I must thankful to them and there advance tecnic and experience of 4500 successfully transplant done. They only said do once do best. That i do realise only today. And its life change experience with them.... Even in futures i need to go for 2nd HT then as well only Eugenix is my first and last place to go with. Once again Thx to DR. PRADEEP AND EUGENIX TEAM. AND SPECIAL THANKS TO SHIKHA WHO CONVINCE ME TO GO ATLEAST ONCE THERE. And VRUSHALI for after post HT CARE. THX A LOT
  9. This is a grand slam result, damn man i'm jealous haha. Dr. Bansal and Dr. Sethi are definitely doing top notch work. May pay them a visit some day 🙂
  10. Hi HTN community. Thank you all for valuable information and support that I have received during my 1stFUE hair transplant with Eugenix. I am pretty much satisfied with my results, considering the fact that I was NW6 and had weak donor area. For my complete 1stHT journey you may click below link. https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/49922-6000-grafts-with-eugenix-gurgaon/?tab=comments#comment-461261 Now I am considering my 2nd hair transplant to cover my crown area which remained empty after 1stHT. As an informed patient, I mailed my pictures to few doctors including Dr. Bhatti to get second opinion. According to Dr. Bhatti there are not enough grafts left on my head to go for second procedure. Then I went to Eugenix to let DR. Pradeep physically examine by donor area. He was pretty confident that he can take out 1000 grafts from the back of my head and 1000 to 1500 grafts from my beard to give decent coverage to my crown area. I was thrilled. Soon I will be going for my 2ndHT to be performed at Eugenix. Will keep you updated.
  11. Thank You Dr. Sethi & Dr. Bansal appreciate your expert opinion on this.
  12. So Dr. Sethi & Dr. Bansal it will not affect my final hair transplant results right ? Since I am almost two months now post my HT ?
  13. I have been losing hair since I was 17. I could notice my hair line receding when I was still in school. By the time I was in second year of my college everyone could notice my hair loss and it really got into my head when people starting mentioning it and mocked about it. I started taking Finasteride during the third year of my college, which slowed down the hair loss a bit but could not completely arrest it nor could it bring back my lost hair. I was a norwood 2 by 2008, and very much concerned about my hair loss. The hairloss and my obsession about it progressed with time when I finally made up my mind about HT in 2014. Just like anyone else would do, I started my research/homework by visiting various HT centers in Delhi NCR, which advertised about themselves in leading newspapers. I could not find a single post graduate/expert (read assuring) doctor in any of those centers. Finally I met Dr. Pradeep Sethi who is a post graduate from India's best medical institute. Even more assuring were the results of the transplants he had performed. Luckily, when I visited him for consultation, there were couple of his ex-patients in the clinic. Meeting them gave me the much needed confidence I was looking for and that's when I made up my mind to go ahead with HT from Dr Sethi.
  14. Sanjeev Menon

    Dr Bhatti Vs Eugenix

I have enquired with most of the well known Clinics. All of them have large advertisements coming in the media but a simple request to speak to "successful stage 7 baldness cases who have successfully transplanted a year ago" was not entertained. They refused to give any references citing confidentiality, privacy or company policy. When I went to eugenix I was explained in detail about the procedure by Dr. Arika. Thereafter I was provided with contact nos. Of nine cases meeting my criteria. Some of them I called and with all of them I had WhatsApp chat, exchanged pics to see their results. Seeing their results I went back to eugenix where I met two successful cases. Please understand I'm talking of stage 6-7 baldness with very less donor area. Such is my case that I have had results which surprises so many of my contacts who have done their HT much before I did but haven't got the growth nor density as I did. Some of the earlier comments have mentioned how the procedure is done so there is no need for me to repeat again. I have had two days sitting from Dr. Pradeep with his team of junior doctors and technicians. Because of their unique protocol they follow; the success rates are much higher but you end up having long sessions which for some is a pain but I guess that's the small sacrifice one need to take if we need guaranteed results.
  15. Great question, no doubt both of them come highly recommended on the forum, I am the first one to admit that my opinion is bit biased, but also based on thorough research of at least 2 years. I went with Dr Arika and Dr. Pradeep. I sent my pictures to many clinics including many recommended on this for and most of them rejected me outright given my advanced alopecia. Not reading between lines, but I was even told by one of the doctor's recommended here that I would not be happy if I get a HT!, it was also suggested to me by one in Texas (name withheld due to professional courtesy) that I start looking at hair weaving or some other toupe. There were very few surgeons who were confident enough to take up my case, out of which I zeroed down to 3-4 of them, 1 from California who does a lot of BHT and two from India (one of them was Dr. Pradeep, other one is recommended here but not from Chandigarh). As I have mentioned in my initial post, I had to deal with some bad attitude from California doctor and was unimpressed by hairline design of some others, I eventually contacted quite a few patients of all of these clinics and jumped in to get mt HT with Eugenix. I was treated very well and all of hair designing, hairline and 100% of punches/slits were done by doctors, some by Dr. Pradeep and some by Dr. Arika. Doctors also did lots of extraction.Implantation is the easy part and was done by technicians, directly under the supervision of doctors. Doctors are directly and passionately involved at all critical junctures of your HT. Most important aspect being hairline design and punches which requires laser precision, all done by Drs. Arika or Pradeep. I want to say that I am happy and very happy after my HT, I am glad I did my own research, and did not listen to disappointing opinions of some learned doctors!!!. (myself being a physician, I knew the risk I was taking with my advanced alopecia by jumping into the HT). Again as I said I did my HT at Eugenix, and I am very, very happy with the LIFE-CHANGING results and I am very truly blessed to have found the right HT surgeon at the right time. Though, I would still say do your thorough research and you will find the answer, search this forum for all the HT results of doctors you are doing search on. You will find the answer, at the end you have to be comfortable with the decision you made. For HT is for lifetime!.

    Dr Bhatti Vs Eugenix

Hi... I did with Eugenix Mumbai Branch. As a Doctor all main part of HT done by them only. And they got other junior Doctors team work under them. All slits, hairline marking and all kind of main part of HT done by Dr. Pradeep and Dr. Arika only. And they work as team...as they doing DHT like advance FUE. So its take longer time then normal FUE. If Dr. Does only HT then how come they reply you or consulting you when you are at his clinic. It does not make sense. And of day you need results and we need to take it from there. Eugenix will gives you 1000s of contacts to be make sure.. And i did good experience with them after POST OP HT as well... And its in MUMBAI AND DELHI. So well connected with international airport as well. I am happy to choose Eugenix as per my experience and results. Its only 5 month. So its going to be much much more to be comes as out put... And one thing I did my consultation on face time as i am from South Africa. I try Darling buds and Medispa to come on face time. But unfortunately they are very busy to talk to you. But Dr. Pradeep gave me that confidence about my HT. And then i book with them for my HT. And you may see my results.. If you really want high density then go to Eugenix. As i seen and compared all good clinc in india. Thx
  17. First of all, I would like to thank HRN team for creating such a wonderful plaftorm for people to learn and share their experience on various topics and notably HT. Background: I have been a victim (😉) of hair loss since as early as Jr. College. Hair transplant was always on my mind since many years but never took the plunge. Now at 32, it seems my hair were in a hurry to leave me from last couple of years and expedited their process lately in the last few months. Such was my condition that few of my colleagues thought that I am 42 years old. Lmao 😄 After consulting my family and their push, I finally decided to go for HT. HRN, proved such a lovely medium to learn about HT, specially from various members posting their experience and actual results. Fast Forward: After reading about many HT experts and getting confused with the choices, finally decided to proceed with Eugenix (Dr. Sethi and Dr. Bansal). Couple of important reason I chose Eugenix: 1. They perform large number of grafts 2. Effectively use body hair as well My hair is of extremely fine calibre and less density. I knew that my donor area would not have enough hair for my 1st HT let alone for future needs as well. HT Experience at Eugenix: Today is my 7th Day post transplant and I thought to write my experience without any further delay. After contacting Eugenix, the response was very prompt, they asked to send some pictures as per their guideline to know about my hair condition and possible grafts needed. I used to be delusional that 1500 to 2000 grafts would be more than enough and will give me a dense look. However the myth was broken once I saw my own pics the way Eugenix asked me to click and send it over to them. I was informed that I would need 3000 gratfs on the frontal area to get a decent hairline. Booked my dates with Dr. Bansal for 20th Dec 2018 and arrived at their HQ in Gurgaon, India since I wanted to consult the same doctors for my post surgery procedure as well just in case if things don't go as planned. On 20th Dec, my consultation started at 10:00am with Dr. Abhinav Kumar, (another Sr. Doc), who took my blood pressure and some basic test required before the surgery. Dr. Bansal came to discuss the hair line design and suggested few designs as per the guideline. I already had a big forehead and wanted to retain a hairline which is close to what i had. After a few iterations, we finalised the hairline design. HT Procedure: I was given local anesthesia where HT was marked and Dr. Bansal started to make incisions. Later a team of Dr. Shishir and one more started the extraction from my donor area. From the begining, the team was friendly and humble. Even played some good music to lighten me up maybe because they saw how tense I was. Didn't realise how the first few hours went till we took a break for lunch. By now, I was already relaxed and we began rest of the procedure of extraction and implantation. What impressed me a lot was how Dr. Shishir informed me that he would suggest to take some beard hair instantly after looking at my donor area. This echoed my feelings which I had before HT. The technicains were experienced as well and formed a good team with Dr. Shishir during extraction and implantation. Overall so far HT experience with Eugenix has been wonderful right from customer service, HT and post HT communication. Below are some pics in chronological orders of before and after HT. Pics are from the clinic since it gives a better view. I will be uploading pics clicked from mobile for subsequent days going forward. Please feel free for any comments, suggestion and learnings which I need to follow post HT.
  18. Dr Pradeep Sethi of India is in United Kingdom, London and Manchester for next few days. He would be happy to meet people who would like to have a meeting in person with him over a cup of coffee. The following numbers can be contacted for scheduling the meeting. 1. 19. Presenting a successful hair restoration story in a Scarring Alopecia (Lichen Plano Pilaris, LPP). The lady patient of 26 years old presented to us with a childhood history of Scarring Alopecia which was non progressive for more than last 10 years. She was socially conscious and regressive. As expected, she always wanted hair on her head and was hiding her big hairless patch of scar with regular use of a cap. When we saw her, took a detailed history and wanted to be 100% sure of the non progressiveness of the condition before taking her up for the procedure. So, we did a test patching of 200 grafts to see any remnant of activities of the disease. After near to 6 months, most of the 200 grafts grew. This gave us the confidence to go ahead and do the bigger chunk of the scarring patch. We did 2000 grafts (the patient allowed us to do a complete trimming of the donor area as she was expecting the best possible result to her by us). We kept on following her. She came after four months with some visible growth and by the end of 1 year, most of her hair had grown and she could cover most of her bald patch and is extremely happy. We are following her since then and till today her hair is doing well and there is no sign of disease activity. Note: Lichen Plano Pilaris (LPP) is a very rare and unpredictable disease condition which causes Scarring Alopecia in patches in the central scalp and occasionally on the occipital scalp, more often in ladies than males. Usually LPP does not affect the hairline. Also very rarely affects the beard in males. But in many cases, after doing the procedure, the disease which seems silent, gets activated and damages the planted roots. So it is difficult clinically to ascertain the timing of a hair transplantation in LPP. Many physicians consider a silent period of more than 2 years is adequate to do a procedure upon the scarring. But many are proven wrong by the disease reactivation! Also, scarred tissue has altered vasculature and is not the same as the normal skin for transplanting hair. The thickness of the different layers of the skin are also altered so an experienced surgeon only should attempt to do a procedure in a Scarring Alopecia. So there are two unpredictabilities in LPP: 1. Uncertainty of the disease activity, & 2. Unfavourable dermal tissue. Other than doing a biopsy, trusting the history by the patient about the disease activity, a test grafting is essential to predict the future course after transplantation.
  20. Dear forum members, As many of you know, we gather as much information as possible about a physician, their staff, technique and track record before they are even considered for recommendation on the Hair Transplant Network. Part of our review process involves getting input from patients and the members of this forum community. To learn more about this review process, click here. We would appreciate your input regarding the potential recommendation of Dr. Pradeep Sethi and Dr. Arika Bansal of Mumbai. At this time, both physicians are only being considered for recommendation, not the Coalition. To see our standards for recommendation, click here Dr. Pradeep Sethi and Dr. Arika Bansal are a husband and wife team of surgeons that work in tandem on each hair transplant procedure at their clinic in Mumbai. They perform hair transplant surgery exclusively and operate on only one or two patients per day between the two of them. Both doctors perform both FUE (follicular unit extraction) and FUSS (follicular unit strip surgery) although at this point, they perform very few strip procedures. Their primary technique is a modified version of FUE referred to as Direct Hair Transplantation or DHT. During this technique, follicular units are extracted using a motorized device and planted simultaneously. They started performing this technique in 2012 and published a scientific paper in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Science (JCAS) about it in 2013. Both Dr. Sethi and Dr. Bansal are members of several well respected professional organizations including the ISHRS, AHRS, IADVL and the ACSI. Dr. Bansal is also a board certified diplomate of the ABHRS (American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery). Dr. Sethi and Dr. Bansal have just under 10 years of experience performing hair transplants and have been performing exclusive hair transplant surgery since 2013. They specialize in FUE (DHT), BHT (body hair transplantation), eyebrow transplantation, eyelash restoration, beard transplantation, scar repair and other repair procedures, etc. They also provide medical treatments for managing male and female pattern baldness. Dr.Sethi and Dr. Bansal have the staff and experience to perform large, densely packed sessions of ultra refined follicular unit hair transplantation exceeding 3000 and 4000 grafts when appropriate for the patient. Typical session sizes range between 2500 and 3000 grafts. Large session sizes may exceed 5000 grafts for patients with an optimal donor area. The surgeons use a motorized punch used called the MPCID Marathon typically ranging from .8mm to 1mm depending on the patient and the size of the graft. This reduces trauma and resultant scarring to the skin while eradicating damage to the surrounding follicles. Dense packing typically ranges from 35 to 50 grafts per square centimeter (FU/cm2) which they feel provides an adequate an illusion of density while preserving vascularity to the scalp. Dr. Sethi and Dr. Bansal use all the latest techniques including the trichophytic donor closure technique for strip procedures, microscopic dissection and minimally invasive tools to minimize trauma and maximize dense packing. During both procedures, the surgeons pre-make all recipient incisions and then grafts are simultaneously excised and implanted into tiny recipient incisions ranging from .9mm to 1.05mm. In order to create the most natural looking hairline and result, Dr. Sethi and Dr. Bansal select only the finest 1 haired follicular units for placement in the first two rows of the hairline. Given Dr. Sethi's and Dr. Bansal's vast experience in performing both state of the art FUE (and some FUSS) and providing only the best results, in my opinion, they should be considered for recommendation. In the last couple of weeks, Dr. Sethi and Dr. Bansal presented several examples of their procedure and results on this forum. 21. Hello All, I am Nishant Kumar, and here is my short story of hair restoration experience with Eugenix. I started losing my hair a bit early by the age of 22-23. After several consultations and long research on the internet, I decided to undergo Hair Transplant in 2015. The first thing was to decide the technique. Of the several available, I zeroed in on FUE. I underwent a hair transplant for 1500 grafts with Berkowits, Delhi. For the first 2-3 months, the result seeemed to be fine. But, suddenly I started losing my hair again and a year later I was in a worse position that before. By 2016 end, I had reached Grade-V baldness. Now, I had to decide two things - the perfect technique and best hands in the market- since I has already wasted good 1500 grafts from my donor area. Through research, I came to know about DHT Technique. It seemed revolutionary to me since the technique promised 98% survival rate for the grafts and it seemed to be the least invasive of all the techniques. Moreover, the pioneers of this technique - Dr. Pradip Sethi and Dr. Arika Bansal - had established themselves as a trusted name in the market. So, I decided to undergo Hair Transplantation at Eugenix. I underwent the procedure in April 2017 for 5000 grafts through the DHT procedure. One and half years is a good time to speak about the result. The hairline was perfectly created and a good amount of hair density was restored. I could start seeing the result very soon. Since then I have been gaining density as weel as confidence. Few things I would like to add here. First, the procedure itself was very comfortable. The doctors themselves were involved at all stages of the procedure and their staff was also well qualified, experienced and friendly. Second, the healing part was fast and by the seventh day I could feel normal. Third, the survival of the grafts was very high and I did not lose the transplanted grafts. Fourth, since I have undergone procedure, my hair loss in general has also reduced to the minimum. Overall, I am very happy with the procedure and am really grateful to Dr. Pradip Sethi and Dr. Arika Bansal. I would recommend Eugenix with all my conviction. Thanks.
  22. Mr. Gary used to wear a turban since his childhood till the age of 30. As expected, he developed traction alopecia on the frontal scalp as well as the side locks and the temple points. He wanted to remove the turban and have a natural hairline. He had a bigger size of head and the surface area to be covered was surprisingly larger. In this type of turban induced traction alopecia cases, the difficult area is to do the temple and side locks going up to above the ear. Since these cases are not graded baldness cases, there is a sharp border of high density on the front. So, during transplantation if the transplanted hair does not attain matching density, then the result will not be considered great. So, providing an optimum density in the transplanted area is very important. In this case, we planted 2500 grafts, all extracted from the scalp and the results presented here are after 1 year.
  23. Eugenix Hair solutions, They brought out a new me. Like every alopecia patient, i was piled up medicines, sprays and home remedies until i finally decided to go for hair transplant. After a lot of research i met Dr. Arika and Dr. Pradeep who talked away my apprehensions and told me the benefits of the procedure. The procedure in Oct 2017 was itself totally painless and i as a Surgeon can assure that nothing can be less painless except not getting done anything. i went home and started my daily chores after one day and was back in hospital seeing my OPD and OT after 3 days. The shedding period i sailed through with constant boost up and advice from Dr. Arika and Nelson who kept me in high spirits that this is a natural thing to happen . # months after the procedure the magic started to happen . the growth was phenomenal and all my known too people were astonished to see how a single day procedure can change your life . now as a person i am more confident than what i was a year ago and i am more social too. all thanks to them . Truly amazing and professional environment here at eugenix. If you want your hair worries to go, EUGENIX IS THE PLACE TO BE!!!! Dr. Amit K Rana MS(ENT) Bareilly, India
  24. Mr. Park from Australia referred by one of his friends who indeed was our old patient, came to us in 2016 with near Grade IV baldness. He had a decent density on the donor scalp. We did close to 3800 grafts spread over 2 days (1st day: 3000 grafts; 2nd day: 800 grafts). Carefully single follicles were chosen and planted on the hairline and a density of 35 to 40 grafts per sqcm were planted. The patient was sensitised about the importance of medicines like Finasteride and minoxidil to prevent the future baldness, as we do to all our patients. I got the opportunity to meet him after 1 year in Sydney and the patient was happy to share his story.
  25. This 31 year old male having a strong family history of baldness approached us in 2014 and we did his case in two sittings, as below. 1st Sitting: 3216 grafts (singles: 410) Keeping in mind his strong family history of baldness, we kept the hairline up at 8 cm from the mid eyebrow point (glabella). And he developed a great result within 5 months of his transplant. And his temple point was untouched. Encouraged with the results, the patient insisted about lowering the hairline. 2nd Sitting: 1784 grafts We did lower the hairline by 1.5 cm and blunted a bit in the fronto temporal area and also did the temple point. As expected, he got an amazing result after 6 to 7 months. We have also primed the patient about the importance of taking the medicines to prevent the future baldness in the mid scalp and the crown.
