  1. Hello, Its my first day out here in this forum and I really cant believe that I am really doing this finally. Well, a few words about me. Am in my mid thirties with a balding head that my friends say is making me look my age today (!!!) else seems I'd look a lot younger. My hair loss story started atleast 14 years ago when I moved out of my parent's house for my first job. I had to wear industrial protection helmet that probably started my hairloss. There was no looking back from then I presume... which was in 1997. The last 14 years I travelled to various places atleast 5 different cities and atleast 10 different houses with different types of water (used for bathing... hard/soft etc). Add to that the inevitable marriage about 6 years ago and my pate has been shining ever since Its been 2 years since I've been contemplating HT and started doing some research. I started with on Minoxidil 2% and then 5% for the last 2 years supplemented with some Folic Acid and Zinc tablets that one of the doctors prescribed. It had its positive effect i guess the hair loss being stable for some time. 2 months back i stopped both the topical application and the tablets and bingo... the halo finally appeared So here I am in the fag end of 2011 with a final resolute decision to get under the knife. Did a lot of research around HT and the surgeons, ranging at least 2 days every week over the last 6 months to decide upon the place and the person to trust my head with. Since am based out of UK currently, my first choice was a UK surgeon, presuming that it would be cost, travel & post procedure treatment/advice effective. Finally after weighing a lot of options and going through multiple forums and patient reports, I have decided to go with Dr.Madhu Pathuri from Hyderabad, India. I dont know if its a good or bad decision... only time and my head will tell My procedure would be slated for February 2012 and I would like to post my journey as I travel through, starting today, hoping for guidance and support. I have mailed and spoken to Dr.Madhu's clinic folks and they seem to be friendly. I have paid the advance for Rs.5000(roughly GBP60) to book the slot for my HT. My anxiety is slowly gaining momentum, esp. since I am waiting for the confirmation that my bank transfer has reached them, and the mail confirmation that my date is blocked !! I would need all the advice & support in the world that you folks in this forum can give, since I presume most of you have first hand experience in the bald arena... (Attaching a snap taken for my online consultation with Dr. Madhu, based on which he has suggested a first sitting of 2500 - 3000 grafts)
  2. Greetings fellow follicles! I am new. This is my first post. I have been a voracious reader/follower of this community the last one week. This has been a brilliant tool in educating oneself on wide range of hair related problems. Thumbs up! I am looking to get my first hair transplant done on me. My hair loss story on my profile will give a fair understanding of my background. But I suspect most won't bother to take that extra effort. So, I am going to repost it here. But before anyone gets bored of it half way through reading it, let me first ask for the advise for which this thread was created. I shall post my history in my second post following this. I am from India. I understand the recommended doctors from India on this community are Drs. Tejinder Bhatti, Kapil Dua, Pathuri Madhu, Radha Rani and Suneet Soni. I have mailed each one of them and have had online consultations. All doctors have recommended about 2500 grafts except Dr. Suneet Soni (4000 grafts). And all doctors have recommended FUSS (commonly known as FUT) except Dr. Bhatti. Naturally! Being a torch bearer for FUE (Before anyone jumps on me, this is not meant negatively. I am merely complimenting him for being a pioneer in that field). The costs for all of them comes about the same more or less. I am not scared of a scar from the FUSS. (But if FUE will give me the same result as the FUSS, il gladly take FUE for its easier post op scenarios. Since this has always been a contentious topic, and no solid proof to rely on than bickering and bantering from both sides, I am still not able to come to a conclusion which procedure to choose. But the general consensus I find is that the first surgery has to be the FUSS to protect the donor for future surgeries of FUSS or FUE.) I am not driven by society and its pressure or to be an agreeable material for marriage. Neither am I depressed or overly concerned about being bald. I am going to do it just for the aesthetics. I generally love all good looking things. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. I am more than ready to move on. But not before giving it a shot. All the help in choosing a surgeon off the recommended list will be very much appreciated. (Please don't ask me to carefully study and choose one . I've read a lot of their patient cases here in the community and I am well informed about them. I am looking for a consensus from you wise people that I can follow. Treat this as a poll if you guys want to.) Thanks. Cheers!
  3. HI All, I am narrowing down the surgeons whom I can afford a HT with and currently Dr. Pathuri Madhu is coming out as my preferred choice given his cost / skill / reputation e.t.c. Is there anyone from the Uk / Preferable London whom would be willing to contact me to speak about their experiences ? Following an online consultation it is believed that I would need 3500 grafts so if there is anyone willing to discuss their experiences I would live to speak with them.
  4. Hello Everyone I would like to ask if anyone has some feedback for Dr. Madhu Pathuri and Dr. Suneet Soni in India for hair transplant surgery. I am planning to have get hair transplant surgery and looking for some serious and real feedback. its about life changing desicion and i am very concern about it . that is the reason i want your help so please if anyone has anyfeedback please share or reply to this post.. thanks Rishabh
  5. Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and after reading most of the threads and blogs i must say its really a wonderful place for people who have any doubts/concerns regarding their hair. So a thumbs up to everyone here! I'm from India(chennai) 25 years old. I started to notice my hairline getting reduced some 5 years back and tried some solutions which did'nt work(thats because i did'nt care much. ). So after 5 years i lost most of my frontal hair(il post a pre-op pic soon) and was very much worried. My friend told me about Dr.Pathuri Madhu's works as one of his friends had done a HT with him and has seen very good results. So i did all the research and went to Hyderabad in the first week of consultation. Dr.Madhu said we can do 2500(+-200) to get a good natural look. Then i confirmed the date of procedure which was Aug 16th. On 15th Aug(Our Independence day..and i was like i'm going to be freed from bald look ) we started from chennai by 7 PM and reached Hyderabad by 8 20 PM. S0 from airport, there were bus services but you have to take another bus from that point to reach Dr.Madhu's clinic. I had booked my stay to a hotel very near to his clinc(just 1 km away). So we reached our hotel by 11 30 pm (YES! it took 3 hours from airport by bus:eek:). Hotel was neither super good nor pathetic. It was enough for a day stay. The next day we reached the clinic by 8 30 am. I was given all the medicines and an apron to wear. Dr Madhu came we started our procedure by 9 30 am. I didnt feel much of pain(except when the scalp was stripped:D) even that pain was bearable. Once that was done they shaved the region where hair had to be transplanted. Dr.Madhu showed me how they get the grafts too .. Then the process took about 1.5 hours. Everything was completed and Dr.Madhu told he could get only 2010:(. He said this will give you a look which will be natural. Then i was given tablets mostly pain killers. Then we left to the hotel. i didnt had any pain or what so ever so i had a comfortable sleep. The next day had my hair wash and we started to our home town. After 8 days i had my suture removal done at a local hospital and the doctor did it with ease. No pain there too. Now the hardest part as they say..to wait patiently and hopefully for my planted hairs to grow. Today is the 18th day. Il keep posting the pics and updates. Hope il get a decent amount of hair for my 2010 grafts. Once again thanks to everyone here! keep'em coming!! Cheers!!;)2
  6. Hi, I have booked an appointment to have HT with Dr. Madhu Pathuri as he is one of the few recommended doctor in this forum. Though few of the forum topics seems to be recommending Dr Madhu, but I could not find much post operation results after 3-18 months of the patients and whatever experiences shared are also quite old ..around 3-4 years old discussions. This is making me slight hesitant to go for Dr. Madhu. Please suggest if at this time, Dr Madhu is a good choice and I can go ahead with the HT which is planned in next few weeks. Please share your experiences who have recently gone or know about Dr Madhu results. Thanks
  7. Dear Forum Members, As many of you know, we gather as much information as possible about a physician, their staff, technique and track record before they are even considered for recommendation on the Hair Transplant Network. Part of our review process involves getting input from patients and the members of this forum community. To learn more about this review process, click here. The search for a quality physician in India has been long and hard. However, after interviewing Dr. Madhu of India and seeing several examples of his surgical procedure and results, I believe that Dr. Madhu should be considered for potential recommendation by this community. At this time, Dr. Madhu is only being considered for recommendation, not the Coalition. To see our standards for recommendation, click here. Dr. Madhu has a large and experienced staff of 12 surgical assistants and is dedicated to performing state of the art hair transplant surgery exclusively since 2005. He has the staff and ability to perform large ultra refined hair transplants exceeding 3000 follicular units when appropriate for the patient, the largest of which has been 4800. Dr. Madhu is very hands-on and is involved in every step of the procedure from harvesting the donor strip to placing grafts in the crucial hairline and temporal areas. The hairline is reconstructed carefully using single hairs in most patients to most adequately mimic nature. Dr. Madhu may use the occasional 2 haired follicular unit in the hairline in patients with extremely fine hair characteristics. However, since most Indian patients produce hair with a thicker hair shaft diameter, he reports this is very rare. Dr. Madhu uses a single blade to harvest the donor strip and employs the open method of dissection using the fork hooks method to minimize transection. By separating the edges of the wound, Dr. Madhu can easily see and avoid accidentally severing and damaging precious hair follicles. The wound is closed using the trichophytic closure technique with an external continues mattress suture and intermittent nylon stitches. Dr. Madhu believes this significantly reduces tension on the wound and minimizes the appearance of the scar. Follicular units and occasional multi-follicular units are dissected and trimmed under microscopes and carefully placed by Dr. Madhu and his staff into recipient sites to maximize growth yield. Multi-follicular units are used occasionally in those he believes are qualified candidates to increase the appearance of density. Dr. Madhu customizes his approach for each patient using a combination of custom cut blades and needles to allow for a perfect fit of the grafts into the incisions. He uses tools as small as .7mm in order to minimize trauma to the scalp and reduce the risk of post-surgical telogen effluvium (shock loss). Parallel (sagital) incisions are employed for single hairs while perpendicular (coronal/lateral) incisions are reserved for multi-haired follicular units. While Dr. Madhu's use of sagital incisions for single hairs helps him and his staff in identifying slit sizes, he employs the lateral slit technique for multi-haired grafts because he feels it provides a greater illusion of density. Dr. Madhu can transplant up to 50 FU/cm2 into the balding area safely when appropriate for the patient. Dr. Madhu is a member of the ISHRS and is the only physician in India board certified as an ABHRS diplomate. He also has a strong background in dermatology. Given Dr. Madhu's experience and commitment to ultra refined follicular unit hair transplantation, I believe that he should be considered for recommendation. See our standards for recommendation. View some of their patient and surgical photos below: 4450 Grafts in 2 Sessions with Dr. Madhu 3520 Grafts with Dr. Madhu 3250 Grafts with Dr. Madhu 3120 Grafts with Dr. Madhu 3200 Grafts with Dr. Madhu 2940 Grafts with Dr. Madhu 3140 Grafts with Dr. Madhu also with Post-ops 2420 Grafts with Dr. Madhu also with Post-ops 3180 Grafts with Dr. Madhu Surgical Walkthrough Album New: Patient Received 3150 Grafts with Dr. Madhu and Additional Surgical Photos I welcome input and comments from forum members regarding his potential recommendation.

  10. Dear Friends, Firstly, would like to thank this Forum and all its members for sharing their valuable stories & feedback on this open forum. It is really helpful to everyone. This is my first post on this forum and it is regarding Hair Transplant. About me, I am 26 years old & based out of Hyderabad, India. My hair started falling since around more than 5 years now, tried Dr. Batras over here and couple of other doctors for treatment, but nothing worked out. Ultimately, frustrated with everything, stopped the medication completely for around 2 years. Then again, in December 2010, on someone’s recommendation, met a Doctor in Delhi, and started taking treatment under him, which basically included applying of Mintop 10 & taking Finax (1mg), which I am doing since last six months and do see a decent difference. However, the condition now is such, that I do need a Hair Transplant for obvious reasons. After going through the forum search and recommendations from couple of people, I finally decided to go for Hair Transplant and decided to shortlist on which Doctor to go with. I consulted two doctors last week, Dr. Puli Ravinder Reddy & Dr. Pathuri Madhu in Hyderabad. 1) Dr. Puli Ravinder Reddy recommended me for Hair Transplant and said that I would need about 4000-4500 hairs (not sure whether this is no. of hairs or hair grafts) to cover the entire area and he will do that in one sitting and no second sitting would be required. However, if I do need a lot more hair, I can go for second sitting sometime in future. He quoted an aggregate amount for the entire procedure including medicines for 1 year and not anything like per graft basis. Regarding the clinic, it was a decent one...He transplanted on a Husband-Wife couple from U.S. that day itself (I never thought that even women go for transplant) He does two surgeries per day and is booked for one month...I would get a date for some time in August. 2) Dr. Madhu, on consultation said that he would be able to extract around 2500-2800 grafts from my donor area and would be able to cover only the frontal portion through it. And, to cover the remaining area, I would need a second transplant, some time in future. He also seems to be booked for the entire month, but on booking an appointment by paying Rs. 5,000/-, I might get an appointment before that. Now, my confusion is which doctor I should go with. Cost is the last thing on my mind, though Dr. Madhu might cost me 50% more than that of Dr. Ravindra Reddy, I am not at all bothered about it, as I can’t see the cost for such a crucial thing. Confusion also would not have been there if Dr. Madhu would have said that he would cover the entire portion and no second sitting would be required. Being more popular on this forum and after seeing satisfied patient websites who were treated by him, I might have gone for him without any second thought. But as he said that he will do only the frontal portion, I am in a dilemma as to what to do, as Dr. Ravindra Reddy said that he will do the entire thing in one sitting. I have not read much about Dr. Ravindra Reddy. Nothing much is available to read on net about him, neither somewhere else nor on this forum, except for Kaykays patient website, which looks decent to me. But Dr. Ravindra Reddy seems to have a good reputation around. Now, I am seriously in deep deep confusion as to what to do, as I have to decide soon. Would really appreciate, if anybody out here can sort out my confusion and advise me as to what has to be done. Just to know the status of my hair, I am attaching the pics of my hair just clicked through laptop camera. (Sorry for the Clarity) Do I need to consult some other Doctors also? If yes, please let me know. Also, has anybody heard about Oliva Hair Transplantation & Cosmetic Clinic, found the banner on Jubilee Hills and contacted them on phone, was told that they charge Rs. 35/- per graft but the name of the Doctors which she mentioned were unheard of. They have three branches in Hyderabad, with Hair Transplantation being dune at Jubilee Hills , surprisingly, never heard of it. Booked a consultation though, just to check out, not sure about it. P.S. I am new to this forum and not sure whether I am posting a right thing on a right place or not. So , please pardon me, if anything is wrong with my post.

Please dont jump in to any decision without enough research! http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/176647-2010-grafts-dr-pathuri-madhu-3.html Cheers!
  14. Hey All, So i'm in to my third month, Well il be in the next four days .. so far i guess i'm good and i'm little worried about my scar is it looking good or stretched .. Please feel free to comment. My first two months are in the below link http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/176647-2010-grafts-dr-pathuri-madhu.html
  15. Craston, I had a consultation with them before i choose Dr.Pathuri Madhu. From the moment i stepped inside AHS, i felt it is not very good. They told like for me laser therapy would do and if at all it is not working out then they can do a strand by strand surgery and the cost per graft is Rs.75!! which is way too high. I told them i will decide and come back. They tried to contact me and asked if i am ready and when i said the cost is too much they tried to negotiate which i believe is truly "Business motive". This made me decide against them. And il not recommend any one to go to AHS. Hope you find a way to get some help with your money and treatment.
  16. manoj, Welcome! There are certainly world-class hair transplant surgeons in India. The Hair Transplant Network recommends the following doctors. Dr. Tejinder Bhatti Dr. Pathuri Madhu Dr. Radha Palakurthi You can view our criteria for recommending physicians, here.
  17. Hello All, I am 26 year old male baldy, check the pics attached(let me know if you need more pics). I have been a lurker here for months now and so I am aware of the HT stuff. I meet Dr Pathuri Madhu and here is the experience, a fairly long write up but should come handy to Indian patients, I also have a question in the end. His facility is posh(every room is air conditioned, most of the rooms has LCD TVs which run the slide show of before and after photos), well equipped, adequately staffed, two separate partitions one for consultation and another for surgeries and follow up patients. Firstly Jr Doc Shanu gave the orientation, there were about 6-7 guys, this is mostly not useful for members who follow this community. Secondly another doc I forgot her name(regrettably so as she is pretty ) took a one to one session, again not really useful to me. Just as I was talking to her Dr. Madhu made his way into the room, I was at home talking to him in Telugu, after listening to me for a while he recognized that I am knowledgeable, he chuckled when I unfolded a piece of paper where I wrote down all my queries and quipped that he is better off with well informed patients like me. He tried to clear all my doubts. He placed me at NW4 progressing to 5(do you think so?)He drew with a pencil on the area that he would cover and arrived at a figure of 2000-2500. but regrettably there is a perceptible rush in the manner in which he answered my queries, after spending some time(not more than 10 mins) with me, he assigned a junior doc Dr.Deepak to clear my doubts if I had any, after I was done with Deepak, Madhu summoned me and made sure that my queries are all answered. Also I felt that the whole staff did not behave as if they have something to hide and were open and practical in results they could achieve. Also I felt though the faculty is probably world class they should manage the consultation process a bit more efficiently(there were two more patients when I was talking to Dr. Madhu, etc) but all the while I saw Dr.Madhu giving instructions to staff so I think it is just a matter of time before they are more organized. consultation charge is Rs 300/- and 40/- per graft and they are going to hike it to 50/- from Jan onwards. Also it seems that the Madhu's clinic works 7days a week and dont take any holiday at all except when Dr.Madhu is out of town and they do 2 ops per day that comes to 60-70 of them per month. Now the question I have is regarding the no.of grafts. Dr.Madhu calculated roughly(In the second meeting I am going to ask him to measure it accurately) measured the area to be covered as 60-70 cm2 and if I go for 2000 grafts(covering 60 cm2) then it comes to 33 grafts per cm2, I feel this is enough for me to give me a fuller look, please let me know your opinion on this. also please consider the following things. 1. Being a Indian I am blessed with wavy hair(it doesnt shown up that way in the pic as the hair is short), 2. good hair to body color contrast ratio. 3. I have some hair left even in the bald areas, I should be able to save them, if I react well to finax, I have not started the finax yet. 4. I dont want to resist baldness eternally, it is just that my look doesnt suit my age, I am ok if I go bald say 10 years down the line, also I dont want to undergo more than one procedure. 5. Dr.Madhu's clinic quoted the survival rate of the HTed grafts at > 96%. Taking advantage of my hair characteristics and goals, Can I reduce the avg grafts/cm2 to be HTed to say 20 gfts/cm2? After reading this, tell whatever you feel like telling me please!!. Finally a word of praise for this forum, I think this forum should have saved thousands from butchery by unscrupulous docs world over. Proud member of this dwelling. ashok.

  20. i am 19 year old male and i am having mpb on very large scale and i am planning to go 2 dr. pathuri madhu for a HT as i was really impressed by results of patience who have done HT with him. i wanna know if he is really good???? please help!!!!
  21. Hi Friends, Let me start by giving a little history about my HT story. I had my first HT procedure in December 2011, FUT 3200 grafts. It did not give me good results. I have added some pictures 1.5 years after the first HT. The results were no way near what I expected. Have to admit that it was my fault though, I did not do any proper research and rushed to the surgery. So obviously the surgeon was not a recommended doctor in this forum. So I considered a second transplant, and met Dr. Pathuri Madhu in India few days ago. However, the feedback that I got from Dr. Madhu is that I'm not a suitable candidate for FUT anymore There were several reasons Dr. Madhu stated for that: 1. My scar is a bit wide. Therefore it is impossible to re-use it. Won't be able to extract a good number of grafts (I have attached some pictures of the scar). 2. In the donor area, the density of the hair is poor. Therefore if a second strip is taken, won't be able to extract much grafts. Also, the baldness in the back of the head might expand in future, and might show the scar of the second strip. So, I had to go back dejected. The question that I want to ask is, is there anything that I can do? Can FUE be a good option for me? While I do not want to challenge Dr. Madhu's opinion, in your view does the donor area look poor and not suitable for a second FUT procedure? Thanks a lot!
  22. If your local pharmacist doesn't carry it, have you tried asking if they know where it is available? You may want to try contacting recommended hair transplant surgeons Dr. Pathuri Madhu or Dr. Radha Palakurthi in India. I'm sure they can tell you.
  23. As someone who has gone through multiple HT surgeries including a failed one, I would advise you to go with a surgeon recommended on this forum. For India that would be either Dr. Pathuri Madhu or Dr. Radha Palakurthi Hair Transplant Clinics in India Look through their results carefully on this forum and see which one better suits your goals and current situation If possible have in person consultations with them both, and do not choose a doctor based on low cost or close distance only.
  24. Hi, I am from India. I am 28 and I have been losing hair for about 6 years but lost most of what is lost in the last 4 years. My personal assessment is that I am between NW 4 and NW5. I have been thinking of a undergoing a HT for some time now. I have consulted some clinics or doctors in Hyderabad, India. 1. ADHI India- They have reviewed and said that I will need 4300 grafts. They said they do only FUE using some special machines and bla bla bla. I was told they charge some Rs. 45/ graft but under some scheme they could do it for Rs 110K. The offer was lucrative but I was still doubtful about their quality and results. They appeared to be pushing me towards HT by them by hook or crook. 2. I have consulted Dr. Puli Ravindra Reddy. The consultation lasted only 5 mins. He said he won’t do FUE and will do only FUE. He said I need about 4k grafts and he will do it in one session. He does only FUT and so out of my list. 3. I was impressed by the list of celebrities advertised by ADVANCED HAIR STUDIO and made an appointment. Their consultant showed lot of patience and answered my queries well though most of the time he seemed advertising their establishment. He recommended a combo of laser treatment and their HT (They don’t accept if you say it's HT- They call it Strand by strand ultimate). He said while ALT helps retaining existing hair and strengthening it by making DHT hormone mix with blood and the HT helps covering the frontal area with high density. He was keen on covering the frontal area than Top and mid scalp. His reasoning was I need that to have youthful looks for my age. I was greatly impressed by the laser technique. It will go on for 10 months for 30 sessions and after that I wont need to use any medicine since there is no DHT. However, For these 10 months, they will give me some shampoo and conditioner, Minoxidil and a herbal pill. He said their doctors can extract 6-7 K grafts even from FUE in single session and 12k grafts with a combination of FUT and FUE. So I was impressed. First with the list of cricketers, then laser technique. I have decided to go on with Laser thing and HT with them. After coming home, I had checked internet for reviews. I read horrible reviews but most reviews are for their hair systems, which they call Strand by strand cosmetic. I have not read any review for their HT work. So after reading the reviews on their hair systems, I am very skeptical now. Though there are good reviews about the Dr. Pathuri Madhu, He does only FUT and so out of my list. So friends, please suggest me a good FUE clinic or surgeon from India. Anywhere in India is ok with me, I was almost going to do it with ADVANCED HAIR STUDIO. Are they bad in case of HTs too? what about their laser technique? Please please help me. I am attaching some photos so you can comment on my condition too.
  25. I live in India and I'm thinking of traveling to Hyderabad sometime this week for a consultation with Dr. Madhu. I've read a lot of people who swear by him. I have'nt heard from a single patient who has a FUE done by him or his new long hair transplant. I was hoping someone would share their experience with me. Also, any idea how long we have to wait for surgery dates? I may not be in India too long. I would like to get it done as soon as possible.and thanks for your answers.
