  2. Dr Diep ~ 1776 Grafts Via FUE ~ 25 y/o Asian Male ~ Norwood 3 What's going on, guys? I've been lurking this site for some time now and finally got a FUE procedure performed by Dr. Diep in late August 2018 to fill in the standard Norwood 3 recession. The following pictures is 8 weeks post op. I will keep you guys updated on my progress.
  3. You hit the nail on the head, Dr. Diep pretty much said the same thing. They live in a bubble, and they believe any doctor that practices in an expensive area of LA must be doing good work i.e Beverly Hills, Bel-Air etc. I was watching a podcast recently with David Spade and he was talking about hair transplants, and how surgeons have it down to a science with a robot. I chuckled to myself, but then I thought man it's sad that so many famous and wealthy people are so ill-informed. I really wish more people knew about this forum, it would save them a lot of money and most importantly save them from bad results.
  4. Dr. Diep haters come out of the woodwork. His results is what does the talking. That tiny spot above his ear, I can guarantee no one even notices. Obviously, on this forum of trained eyes, it’s gonna be different, but in the real world, his results are what matters. Compare this result to the other failed result, there’s no comparison. These results are insanely good. Let the photos do the talking. Keep in mimd also, that the after photos are taken under harsher lighting as well! To negate the fact that Dr. Diep has hundreds if not thousands of results like this is pure nonsense. These results market themselves.
  5. Dr. Diep is very good. If money is no issue for you, then he is an excellent choice. for me, it was just out of my budget, and my hairloss was not bothering me enough that I was gonna spend $30k on it. so I chose another doc that had a solid reputation, but was much lower.
  6. So I’ve finally saved up a good amount of money to have my first hair transplant done 🥳 I’m 26 years old and I started noticing my hair loss at around 21 and it really became noticeable when I was 23. I believe I’m somewhere in between a Norwood 5 or 6. I haven’t used finasteride, rogaine, or propecia because of all the side effects one can possibly get from using them. Now I’m having a lot of trouble trying to find the right doctor. I want to go to turkey for the hair transplant because of the cost is so much cheaper than that of here in the USA. I’ve sent a email to Dr. Diep’s facility and I have a consultation with them in the second week of December. I got a quote from Hair of Istanbul and they said my surgery will be for 6000 usd and be done by doctor yavuz gunes. I tried looking him up online and couldn’t really find anything from him, but the facility has shown great results? Now outside of him I am in touch with Dr Cinik and waiting on hearing back from him with a price. His assistant was saying I would be needing 3500-4000 grafts. I was going to try Dr. Koray Erdogan but I’m not sure because of the reviews I’ve been reading about him on this forum. I feel he is a great doctor but too many people have been unsatisfied with his work and his success rate has been going down recently. I just feel as if I’ve seen people have more success with Dr. Cinik on this forum. If anyone can provide more insight on this or any other suggestions for doctors that would be greatly appreciated. I’m really hoping I can get this first hair transplant done for under 10000 usd when it’s all said and done. attached is pictures of my hair loss, with my hair grown out and shaved. I’ve also included the response from hair of Istanbul.
  7. Every surgeon has negative reviews, Dr. Diep is no different, but most of his results are elite. Dr. Diep, was my surgeon, so it may sound biased but he really did change my life, so it's hard not to be a bit biased. I suggest going on the Advanced Search Page and start looking up real reviews from others, that way you can form your own opinion.
  8. Hey everyone! I've been on this site for a few years now looking around doing research and trying to find the best solution to my hair loss. 1. I am 28 years old and started to notice hair loss around 24-25 years old. 2. It started to recede which I thought looked good, until it started to thin out in the front and a little at the crown. 3. I started to do my research and decided to get on Minox. at age 26 and Fin at age 28. 4. Both worked good, but it was still bothering me so I decided to start looking into hair transplant, specifically FUE. 5. I went to Dr. Diep, Bosley, La Hair Clinic, Alvi Armani, Marc Dauer, Ziering, and many many more. 6. Dr. Diep in my opinion was rude and not professional (on his phone and tried to scoot me out the room ASAP) Bosley, was too run of the mill (Even though my dad did the strip method here 30 years ago and had amazing results and is in late 60's and looks amazing compared to his bald brother. Alvi Armani, although had good work was too expensive, kinda snobby, and would call me every other day offering me a deal, discount, open space, etc. which i thought was weird. So I finally went to LA Hair Clinic and I felt very comfortable, but still chickened out and went back home, after a few months I went in again and this time I took it serious. I asked a lot of questions, and he made me feel very very comfortable. He even drew what it would look like and gave me design options which I thought were amazing! A few weeks pass by and I book my appointment for July 2019. Came in this Monday 6:30 am and met with Flor and the team. Flor is an amazing employee there and she was so sweet, helpful, informative, and made every step of the process a breeze. 7:30...dun dun dun. Jacques comes in with a smile and says "Are you ready!" We started the procedure, buzz cut, map out, then the needles to numb out the back...I must say the needles HURT like a B^&$% but I kept saying it's worth it it's worth it...then he started to take out the grafts 2800 in specific. After this was done came the design phase which we went back and forth until we both came up with a perfect design. Hair buzzed, numbed again, which hurt like a MF'r, but all in the name of hair right! At this time after buzzing and punching the holes one by one, it was lunch time! 24 oz. Steak medium rare, fries, mushrooms, bread, water, tv, and they even called my fiance to come in and surprise me! It was 3:30 when we were done with lunch and came back to the room to start setting the grafts. 1. He did prp 2. his team started to put the gradts 1 by 1 by 1... 3. at around 630 we were done and i was beyond happy! 4. They gave me a goody bag with solutions, pills, directions etc. Came back the next day for a wash and they were again very friendly, informative, and always ready to help! I am 3 days post op and I must say other than the swelling i am beyond happy!! LA Hair Clinic and the team are A++++ in my books and I have already recomended them to many of my friends and family. I will update and post pictures as the time goes and I look forward in seeing my results. In the mean time I have a few questions to see if you all can help. 1. What are your thoughts on taking hair skin and nail pills 2. I have a little thinning in the crown and I will start minox again in a week or so but I am thinking of changing to Dutasteride from Fin since it is stronger but does not have the FDA approval for hair loss 3. Unfortunately I vape juul 3% and I have smoked it a few times since my surgery. What are your thoughts on vaping. I know it is bad to smoke and it can affect the hair growth and recovery. At the same time I feel like cold turkey would shock me and potentially affect it more. I would appreciate and feedback I will post pictures in the next few days! Cheers!
  9. Based on post op images and hairline design, looks like Dr. Diep work to me.
  10. I had a 4,000 graft FUT procedure with Dr. Diep in April, 2014 - just over 5 years ago. Generally speaking, I am pleased with the result of the procedure itself. However, the the scar I was left with was very wide, and hair never regrew in a fairly large area around the scar on both sides of my head - about 2 inches wide and 0.5-0.75 inches vertically. I have since sought the opinion of other hair surgeons who have said this is not a typical result, but I didn't think much of it, and at my one-year follow-up Dr. Diep said that he could fill in the area with an FUE into the scar procedure and I could schedule it at my convenience. Scheduling that follow-up FUE procedure has been very difficult. It has happened three separate times that I have been told a date is mine, only to have them come back the next day to say the date was no longer available, with no explanation. Dr. Diep's office has consistently given me conflicting information, ignored emails, and not returned phone calls. I first emailed to inquire about the FUE into scar procedure on January 29, and was told that the first available consultation via FaceTime wasn't until April 2nd, which I took. Dr. Diep explained the options for the scar, quoted me $2,500 to fill it in via FUE. I emailed Dr. Diep's office on April 29th to schedule a date for the procedure. After some back and forth, on May 13 at I received an email saying that July 19, August 8, or December 16 were available, and I should reply via email or call back to book one of those. I replied 38 minutes later to the email to say that I would take July 19. Monica from his office also called me around the same time I received their email, presumably to take down my credit card, but I was at lunch so missed the call. I called back 27 minutes later, and was told that Monica was on the phone but would call me back as soon as she was off. So, within one hour, I had been offered a date, accepted that date via email, and called his office to confirm and was told I would be called right back. I never got a call back, and the next day in the afternoon I got an email saying the date I had chosen was booked and I needed to pick a new one. I sent an email expressing frustration with the situation, and received a reply from Allison at his office that June 3rd was now available. June 3rd had never been mentioned as an option before. I replied to the email that if anything was available in July it would be slightly preferable, but if not then I would absolutely take June 3rd. I didn't hear back the rest of the day, and then followed up the next day to confirm I was set and see if they needed to get on the phone. The day after that, I got an email saying nothing more than "The next date is: October 3, 2019." I replied again to Allison to express frustration, but say that I would take October 3rd if that was all that's available. I sent this email on May 17th, and have still haven't gotten a reply. I called the office four days later, on 5/21, and asked to speak to Allison to confirm the October 3rd date. Allison told me that October 3rd was no longer available, and there was nothing available for the remainder of the year, and I could be put on a wait list in case someone canceled. When I said that this was the third time I had been given a date, and then told it was unavailable right after, she told me that I should have called to confirm. When I pointed out that I had called to confirm the July 19 date, and then never was called back by Monica, she didn't really have an answer. I also pointed out that in their emails that offer dates, it says "you can either email me or give me a call" to confirm. ***Update*** after I initially posted this, Dr. Diep's office got in touch with me and the situation was resolved and I was able to schedule a date for the scar revision procedure. I'm very appreciative of their quick response and their willingness to find time for me, and am satisfied with the outcome.
  11. You've been given great names. I would take a look at Hasson and Wong, Dr. Gabel, Dr. Diep, Dr. Mohebi. That said, Dr. Shapiro is an excellent choice.
  12. I first started noticing my hair loss around 18 or 19 years of age. It became worse and worse and it got to the point where I felt embarrassed around others. Being in my early 20’s and seeing other kids my age with nice hair made me feel insecure about my hair. I knew something had to be done before I went totally bald. Your 20’s and even 30’s are your golden years and I believe nice hair has a lot to do with making you feel better about yourself. I did extensive research and finally stumbled across Dr. Diep. His reviews and results were amazing and I knew he did amazing, quality work. So I scheduled a consultation and he went over exactly what rethought was needed, about 2800 grafts via FUE. My appt was about 10 months later because his expertise is that in demand. I went in for surgery and last thing I remember was coming home and taking a nap. I did not feel anything and him and his nurses were extremely professional and comforting. They fed me a nice lunch as well. The following few days there was some discomfort but taking pain medication and resting help. The recovery was about 10-14 days for me. I took 2 weeks off of work and just relaxed and recovered. I noticed the hairs start to come in around month 3-4. It became more and more noticeable thick around the 5th-6th month and started blending it perfectly. I am coming up on my 7th month and I absolutely love the results. No one has even noticed I had a hair transplant. My hair looks natural and thick again. This is how it should look at 23 years old! And it is still going to get denser and denser over the next 6 months+. My confidence is way better now and I enjoy showing my hair off. I never wear a hat anymore to hide my receding and thinning hairline. I would not even hesitate to go see Dr. Diep and get your hair back again. You become a new man with a nice head of hair. The feeling is amazing I cannot thank Dr. Diep enough.
  13. Hi guys just wondering what your thoughts are on my current norwood class? I'm not really sure to be honest, I've just recently started to notice my hairloss, specifically the hairline obviously I will attach photos below. I just had my consultation with Dr. Diep and estimated me for 1500 grafts FUE but I asked him if I could do 2000 to get a really nicely dense hairline if need be so I guess i will ask him to go max up to 2000 then. Let me know your thoughts/advice thanks so much this community is the best.
  14. Your growth is insane for not even being 5 months. It looks fantastic already that’s insane 😱 happy for you man Dr. Diep did a great job.
  15. Hello all I’ve been lurking around on this forum for a few weeks now. I’ve been messaging Melvin for advices and suggestions . since giving up on finasteride for 2 months I’ve been seeing a lot more thinning . i dont think I would want to go back to finasteride since I have a gf now. The side effects . i have an consultation with Dr Diep (2 hours drive) on Dec 4. He’s booked a year out on surgeries. i also have a consultation with Dr. Gabel from Oregon on Oct 28. He’s a lot more available and not booked few months out. he is however a 8.5 hrs drive. I would hate to fly because I’m so worried looking like a freak after surgery going through TSA but at the same time I would hate driving 9 hrs back home . Melvin was patient and kind enough to recommend these 2 doctors . I’m 48 and NW 3 I think. I would send pics and discuss with some of you that would like to discuss further but I’m not comfortable yet to post pics here in the public forum. I wouldn’t mind doing so before and after surgery though. By then hopefully I would make friends with a few of you. This forum is very supportive and I’m so glad to have found you. Please shoot me a message or holler if you’re in my area? I also looked into sacramento hair doctor and found Dr Nalini Prasad. If some of you have experienced her services please let me know. I think she is into the Neograft on YouTube and people here aren’t that crazy about it. anyway thank you guys for reading and great work by everyone here being supportive and understanding
  16. Hey man! Welcome to the forum. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with Dr. Gabel or Dr. Diep - and it would really depend on how quickly you wanna get this done. I would at least have consultations with both and see which one your gut has you leaning towards. Dr. Mohebi is in SF a couple times a month as well if you want to schedule a consultation with him while you're there. As for flying, I wouldn't give a second thought to the TSA walk through. I understand the anxiety around it, but in this day and age, HTs are becoming more and more common and most people won't think twice. Besides, it'll be good practice for you to confidently own your procedure around a bunch of strangers in preparation for being open about it with family and friends.
  17. Hello everyone, I have my scheduled Dr. Diep FUE appointment in 1 week. I Was told to stop taking biotin 7 days prior to procedure and 3 days after the surgery. Any idea why this is the case? However, I'm still allowed to take my Finasteride 1 mg as normal
  18. Hi guys, excited and nervous to have my FUE procedure with Dr. Diep in about 3 weeks. I am estimated about 1500-2000 grafts just to lower my hairline. I just had a question if anyone has had any experience or knowledge about shaving the entire head prior to procedure versus shaving just the donor areas prior to procedure and leaving the hair on top long to hide any observation of a transplant being done. Is there any benefit to shaving the entire head prior to the procedure? For example would it be easier to clean and manage the recipient area post op for better results due to not having to maintain the native hair as much? Or is there a benefit that implanting into the recipient area with a fully shaved head? Or is it okay to just shave the donor areas and leave the top long like some people do?
  19. I"m considering getting a hair transplant to fill in the areas that have receded. For some time I've been researching doctors and the name Scott Alexander comes up quite a bit. If you were going to get a transplant would you go to Scott Alexander? I spoke with him through Skype and he seemed quite honest and down to earth. Some years prior I had a consultation with Dr. Diep and I didn't get a very good feeling from him. I've also read positive things about Dr. Baubac. So any comments / advise would be appreciated
  20. I had my hair transplant procedure with Dr. Diep and am glad I chose to go with him because of his professionalism, expertise, and passion for changing the lives of his patients. His staff was professional and ensured I was comfortable throughout the procedure. He is very knowledgeable and experienced in hair transplant procedures, so you can feel comfortable knowing that you are working with someone who sincerely cares about his work and treats every patient like it is his own family. If you are considering getting a hair transplant procedure, I highly recommend Dr. Diep and his staff and am confident you will walk away with terrific results.

  22. I had a 4000 graft procedure with Dr. Diep - after 6 months the results are really impressive. It exceeded my expectation. Hair transplant is a tricky thing and there are a lot of quacks out there so I was very apprehensive. But then I decided to go with Dr. Diep because of all the reviews and recommendations and I made the right choice. So I fully recommend to go with Dr. Diep if you are thinking of doing a transplant
  23. After years of consideration, I decided it was time for me to do something about my hair loss woes. As the quote goes, “nothing changes unless something changes.” Due to the natural aspect and more permanent effects, my main goal for my restoration was a FUE procedure. The FUT was not an option for me due to the linear scar. I tend to prefer a shorter haircut so the scar was a hard pass for me. This hair loss restoration journey originally began when I met Dr. Diep in 2014 when I first began to notice hair loss. Although I was impressed with the possible results, I opted to wait until 2019 because I wasn’t sure how fast my hair loss would impact me. Plus, like so many others, I was worried about recovery, results and complications. It was a big commitment and I was still somewhat skeptical as well. After my second consultation with Dr. Diep around the start of the 2019 new year, I made the decision and have been eagerly (and anxiously) waiting for my procedure date. Over those 5 years I successfully was able to style my hair so no one could notice my losses. However, I was increasingly sensitive to windy day concerns, days at the pool or beach and going out on dates. Dr. Diep had a long wait list but I made the deposit ($1000) to secure my procedure date. Over those months, I wanted to back out and cancel.... to just accept what my genetics had in store for me. Other times I wished I hadn't waited so long as I looked and was increasingly unhappy with my aesthetics. I’m glad I waited and went through the highs and lows. The days leading to the procedure were some of the most anxious of my life! Dr. Diep recommended 2500 graphs via a FUE procedure in order to fulfill my restoration needs. There was some discussion about a FUT since I was a candidate for either process, but I wasn’t interested because of the scar. I chose Dr. Diep because of his expertise with hairlines specifically. I wanted as natural of a restoration as possible and he seemed like the best fit for me considering my ethnicity. Here are my pre op pictures showcasing what I hope can be restored. I’m a Filipino/Chinese male who started noticing pattern loss around my temples and front hairline areas a few years ago. Front hairline Left temple Right temple. This was one of the hardest to cover up because from the wrong angle of my comb over in pictures it was obvious I was missing Hair. Rear donor site with my hair whirl / cowlick that looks thinner than it actually is due to the flash Closer pic of the rear future donor area I’m looking forward to using this forum to document my experience as I pass the time looking forward to results I hope to see! Wish me luck!
  24. Day 18 Updates! I will keep it short and sweet today by bullet point because there aren’t many new things to discuss. * Shedding: Light. It is not what I expected yet (and am secretly hoping I’m one of the fortunate few who do not shed at all). How do I know I’m shedding? Whenever I shampoo and condition my hair, I notice bits of hair in the foam. Good news is I can’t tell where they’re coming from and by this point the graphs should be secure. * Meeting with Dr. Diep: My short post-op meeting went well. It took about 10 minutes when he reviewed my scalp and let me know what to expect in the weeks to come. He said if by week 4 I haven’t shed, I am looking good to not undergo that part of the recovery, but that everyone’s progress is different. From what I’ve read, shedding can happen between Weeks 2-8 Post op. Naturally, I’m trying not to think about it.. if and when it happens, I’ll handle it haha. Dr. Diep commented that my recovery seems to be very quick considering how long it has been and he predicts I’ll have amazing results from what he can see so far. Here’s to crossing my fingers! Dandruff/Dry Scalp: My dandruff has improved since using Norizal; however, now that it’s more on the controlled side, I’m reducing my use of it to only two times per week. Why? It’s very strong and is drying out my scalp. Dr. Diep also mentioned this is a side effect and told me to use any conditioner as long as I made sure to thoroughly wash it out to prevent build up and blockage of the graphs (or it could damage them). He specifically mentioned Dove brand, but said any type is fine with a good wash to prevent buildup. Redness: Redness continues but is fading slowly. I can super tell because I’m being so observant but I’m not sure others notice as closely as I do. I’ve only received compliments for my buzz cut / shorter hair which is nice! It’s pretty wild to compare before and current pics! I had some brief buyer’s remorse... then realized it does look really great in a few months! I am planning a picture update on Day 21! Thanks for reading!
  25. I haven't heard of him, doesn't mean he isn't good, but you wanna choose a surgeon with a large patient-posted portfolio. I'm going to assume you're in Northern California, check out Dr. Diep, he was my personal surgeon and he has a large patient-posted portfolio on here.
