  1. This is about a month post op. Look what Dr. Diep did to my donor area.
  2. If you live in California, consult with Dr. Diep in Los Gatos, Dr. Rosanelli in San Francisco. They should be reasonable driving distance from you.
  3. Hi everyone, I have not been posting on this forum for the past few months because I have been preparing for my FUE procedure today. You guys can look at my previouse thread here to know more about my story: (http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/185575-2250-fue-planned-july-dr-diep-2.html Eventhough after a lot of criticisms regarding my young and my objection regarding the use of Propecia, I received a lot of encouragments from other forum members as well as my family. This led to my decision to undergo an FUE transplant with Dr.Diep today. I know what I am getting into and that I will need more procedures down the road The surgery was not painful at all and Dr.Diep and his staffs were professional throughbout. Eventhough Dr. Diep suggested a more aggressive hairline, I chose a conservative hairline with medium density. I was schedule for 2250 grafts but they only used 2215 since my hair is very thick and I had a lot of multiple hair grafts (1218 singles and 997 multiples). I even had quite a bit of 4 -5 hair grafts) II will be posting regularly of my progress for other members to follow. After the procedure, I will look into using rogaine foam and maybe propecia to prevent further loss (last time i tried lipogaine minox I had a bad allergic reaction) I would like to send my special thanks to HTSoon and quidproqui for supporting my decision and helping me choose a great doctor. Here is the Day 1 Pre and Post Op Photos ( I literally just got back from the clinic) Pre Op: Post Op:
  4. Dr. Diep and staff were incredibly professional. I initially reached out to Dr Diep, when i noticed my hair thinning out in the temple areas. Dr. Diep walked me through the process during the consultation. The procedure took about 10 hours. There was minimal pain associated with the process. The recovery period took about 2 weeks. I went back to work a week after the procedure.1 year post op I could not be happier with the results. Dr. Diep was able to fill in my temples. I would recommend Dr. Diep to anyone considering getting a FUE procedure done.
  5. Hi, this is my first time posting on this forum. I have posted on other websites before when I first started losing my hair around age 22. I am now 27 and after long time considering getting an HT I finally took the plunge. I have been on minox and fin for the last five years and have recently added Dut as of 6 months ago. after looking around for surgeons I came across Dr. John Diep. I've seen his work and felt like he was the best choice especially since he specializes in FUE (I didn't want the strip method). I booked the procedure appointment back in May 2017 and it was set to happen November 2 2017 I had to book a cheap hotel room for two nights (night before, and night of procedure) so that I can get to the clinic at the 5:30am which they said would be the start of my procedure. As I got there at 5:30am they told me my appointment wasn't until 7:30 so I went back to my hotel and waited. Not sure what the mix up was but it wasn't too big of a deal, I just wanted to get started and get the day over with. Once I was done filling out the applications I was called into change clothes and talk to Dr. Diep. He drew over where my hairline should be and we agreed on where he would be filling in my hair line. He told me I was a NW4 on the scale. I was hoping he would be able to fill in my crown area as well which was thinning badly and he said if we had extra grafts he would do that. Unfortunately he was not able to touch the back and only filled the front with 2685 grafts (he was able to pull 185 extra grafts). Until then I can always put hair fibers to fill it in. As Dr. Diep said "The front is where the money is". after talking to him he gave me a concoction of meds and we went into the surgery room. They gave me a remote to watch netflix as they started prepping for extraction from the donor area. Before I knew it I was awoken to the telling me it was lunch time. Yep, I slept through the whole thing. I barely remember them shaving my whole head and only have a little memory of them injecting the antiseptic to numb my head. I ate a sandwhich and then fell back asleep. There were instances in which I woke up and heard the techs working on my head but I was in and out of it. Pretty much slept through the whole process and before I knew it there was one of the techs waking me up telling me about my take home baggy with all my stuff..at this point I was still kind of out of it but I was happy to hear that the whole thing was finishing up and I wasn't awake for any of it. The only pain I felt was during the injections. Other than that I don't remember any pain during extraction nor implantation. The whole process was from 7:30am- 5pm After the process was done, I was let go with a baggy full of drugs, shampoo, and post op care instructions. The staff and doctor were nice and the whole process went smoothly, even though I was asleep the whole time That night I slept at a 45 degree angle with pillows propping me up. The following picture were taken before so you can see where I was before the procedure:
  6. So I’ve consulted with a couple of Doctors and I’ve decided to book my FUT with Dr. Diep. Procedure will be 7/12/19 which his first available date. I am not thrilled with how long the wait is so I am going to continue to consult with other doctors. I will only change doctors if I find another surgeon who I have confidence in as well. I went with Diep, because I am Black/mixed and he has more Black before and afters than any doctor I’ve come across in my research. I went with FUT because though it leaves a scar, we (those with curly hair get better growth) he suggested we do FUE to the scar once it heals. Another Dr suggested I could also do SMP to the scar. Either way it can be addressed. I’ll post pics soon. I’m also open to other suggestions as well because researching Doctors has been a real task. Thank
  7. Thanks Legend. Had a Skype yesterday with Dr. Diep. I took this picture yesterday for his follow up, he wanted to know how I've been doing.
  8. Hey all, Some background info: I am 26 about a Norwood 2 just in the temples. I've been on Fin for about two years. No sides, no further loss. So I want to get the temples filled in a bit. I had a consultation with Dr. Diep who said I have nice thick hair and should expect good results. Only problem is my appointment is scheduled for October. I would love to get an surgery in January/February. I'm tired of wearing hats/meticously combing my hair. I'm only this young once. So are there any recommendations? I really appreciate it!
  9. This fellow is a friend of the practice and had FUE about 6 years ago. Now he has fine hairs and has a decent FUE result. Had he had donor hair as thick as his beard hairs....we'd have hit a grand slam home run. I suspect at some point we'll be doing another case to add in behind his transplant where he's thinned a bit...and of course we'll add some grafts to his hairline. FUE simply doesn't grow as well as strip due to root avulsion stress which I've discussed in 50 videos or so. But John is happy and probably more importantly, so is his girlfriend. The video is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Wg3OL9zN2A&feature=youtu.be Dr Lindsey McLean VA
  10. I'm 64 and started losing some hair in my 30's. In 1992 I decided to fly from Michigan to Chicago for a Bosley procedure. I guess back then the doll hair plugs were about all anyone did, and that's exactly what they gave me. In the front, and some in the crown. I was supposed to go back for them to put in a hairline, but I wasn't confident they could give me a natural hairline so I never went. I didn't have internet access until 1995 so that limited my ability to research anyone else. In January 2018 I decided I wanted to do something about these plugs. My hair had thinned a little on top and I had lost some coverage. I was wearing a hat more and more, and was always conscious if the wind blew, these things would stand out like a sore thumb. I spent many hours on YT watching hundreds of videos, and decided on Dr. Diep. I contacted the office and sent them the requested pictures. They gave me an appointment for a Skype consultation with Dr. Diep. He gave me an estimate, answered my questions, and gave me additional information. He said for FUE he's backed up about 7 months. Because I had a previous FUT with Bosley I chose to go that route. Already had a scar, maybe 6 inches. The FUT appointment was made for Feb 12, 2018, so I only had to wait about 5 weeks. I flew from New Mexico to San Jose on Sat Feb 10. I had to be at the office in Los Gatos Monday at 5:30 am and I arrived as requested. I brought the forms with me they had mailed, and they were pretty much filled out. I only had to sign a few things. Jennie gave me a menu to choose what I wanted for lunch, then she took me in the operating room. I put on the booties, and the two gowns. About 6am the Dr came in. Jennie led me to his office where I met the Dr. Dr. Diep is a very friendly, nice man. Very intelligent, and I was always at ease with him. Jennie brought me in a little cup with about 7 pills in it, and Dr. explained what each one was. (I only remember the 3 valiums). He drew the proposed hairline, with a couple minor adjustments I agreed. Back into the operating room and the reclining chair in front of a big flat screen. She took my blood pressure a couple times. I was watching the news, and the next thing I remember there were two girls, one on each side planting the grafts. No memory of the FUT or making the places for the grafts. Also no pain whatsoever. I was awake for most of the placements and it was difficult for me to remain still for a couple hours. I was supposed to go back the next day at 9 am for a wash, but overslept, and had to get to the airport. They had shaved just the front of my head. When I got home I decided to shave the rest of my head. It took me awhile, I had to be careful not to cut any of the sutures, so I didn't do a real clean job of it. Oh well, it'll grow out. The wound looks pretty ghastly. I have had zero pain in the recipient area. Nothing but a little itching, but no touching. In the donor area I can't call it pain. It's more like a dull ache, maybe a 2 on a scale to 10. It's day five post op as I'm writing this, and I barely feel it. I'm still sleeping sitting up with a towel around my neck, and I'll probably be doing that for another week or so. I've read others saying they had a lot of pain and discomfort, but I truly have not. I was quite anxious about this, but it's turned out pretty well. I took tylenol the first couple nights to help me sleep, and that's it. He gave me a prescription for pain meds but I didn't need them. They gave me a package of anti-biotics, and anti-swelling, which I'm taking. I had swelling roll down my temples to my cheekbones, but it's about all gone now. Dr. Diep had also given me two injections of steroids for swelling. Now the healing process, shedding, and regrowing. Lol, the last time my hair was this short was when I was 13 in 1966.
  11. Dr Diep went through the entire process with me beforehand and made me feel very confident about the decision to have the surgery. I was nervous and not sure what to expect. However, I can assure you that I would not trust any other doctor in the world with my hair after going to Dr Diep. The results are incredible! I saw growth a lot of growth between 3-6 months, didn’t really shed that much, and no one could tell that I had a restoration. By 8 months I had grown almost all the hair expected and now I can style it whatever way I want. Follow all of Dr Diep’s post op instructions, medication recommendations, and how to properly take care of your hair while you recover and you’ll be as safisfied as I am! Also, get the A Cell! I noticed my hair grew extremely quickly afterwards and didn’t shed much at all. I know the results vary but why not give yourself the best opportunity for success? The entire procedure is an investment in yourself so I went into it knowing that it would be money well spent. The amount of compliments I get are too many to count. Everyone says “I like your new haircut”, or “your hair looks great when it’s longer”where as before it was, “why are you always wearing a hat?” For anyone who is questioning whether Dr Diep is the right person, just look at his you tube results. This is what convinced me after seeing the numerous consistent results. Now I am one of those results and couldn’t be happier. Don’t wait, make an appointment, and stop letting other people that say this a waste of money try to convince you to just shave your head and go on living life without the confidence you want. It changed my life. Change yours!

  14. It is with great pleasure to be able to announce the arrival of Bisanga and Cole Hair Transplant Clinic. Formed by two of the leading FUE surgeons today, coalition member Dr. Christian Bisanga and Dr. John Cole. The clinic is based in Athens, Greece and will be officially opening for its first round of patients on March 2017 of this year. With Dr. Bisanga based out of Brussels, Belgium and Dr. Cole out of the U.S. Why Greece you may ask? Well that's a great question. Quoting Dr. Cole - Many patients are focused on price. This leads patients to clinics offering very low prices in countries that are often not as safe and with fewer government regulations to protect patients. For this reason, Dr. Bisanga and I decided to form a clinic with the express intent to offer price-conscious patients an alternative solution at "low" prices. We will personally supervise the surgeries to make sure patients get the best possible outcomes. As mentioned, Bisanga and Cole Hair Transplant Clinic are able to offer luxury hair transplant procedures from the industry leaders at extremely competitive prices. Dr Cole went on to say - It looks like the first round of surgery starting March 27 will come in at 2.5 euro per graft. I'm sure happy to be involved in this opportunity. On a personal note, I am extremely honoured to be patient advisor to such highly esteemed hair restoration physicians, and in such a visionary project. Many of you reading this may already be familiar with me from being active on this forum. My personal journey with hair loss is my motivating factor to getting involved with Bisanga and Cole Hair Transplant Clinic. Experiencing hair loss at a young age and being hugely effected by this, I struggled greatly with insecurity and a lack of confidence due to hair loss which several years later, eventually led me to a FUT procedure. The results definitely helped me to get back my confidence and unquestionably improved my day to day life. I aspire to be able to serve individuals, build relationships and offer honest and ethical advice, guidance and solutions for their hair loss concerns. To be able to consider undergoing a FUE procedure with such ethical Doctors achieving such consistent quality results at this price point allows individuals, who may normally be priced out of choosing these physicians, accessibility to their expertise. If anybody has any interest, questions or queries regarding this new project, don't hesitate to ask. Also, by all means contact me privately if I can assist you with anything or you would like to consult with the clinic. Many thanks.

  16. Hi @Recedinggenes, there's a couple factors that i would suggest you do, first try to get an online consultation from both if you can. You will be able to ask alot of questions and they will be able to tell you the process and what would be a good fit for you. I did it with Dr. Hasson and felt very comfortable with speaking to both Chris and Doug and eventually Dr. Hasson to make a formal decision. I am not quite familiar with Dr. Gabel but the staff and Dr. Hasson are really personable and fantastic whom take very good care of you. His results are amazing as you can see through multiple people's results in the forum. However, I just got mine 5 days ago so I am basing it off what i just been through so far. Another factor why I decided to go with Dr. Hasson is due to location was key as i wanted to be closer to where I live, and Dr.Hasson's team constantly posts recent patience's results in this forum which showcase his amazing work. I kinda like that about a team whom is really proud of their projects. And If you are from out-of-town they do provide some reimbursement credit for accommodation i believe. Side note, I was also considering Dr.Diep but they lack communication was very poor, till this day I am still on their waiting list since Sept 2018 and had never had any email indicating when the next opening is. Luckily I did not give them my deposit as they request for it. I can only imagine what kind of communication I get if I needed post-op care. Good Luck.
  17. Thanks Shoowon! Yes, to clarify the "harsh lighting" pics are comparable to my prior pics and were all taken in my bathroom with the vanity lights on. The soft lighting is just in other rooms in the house, not directly under a light. I think the combination paints a more complete picture. Thanks RecessionProof! Yes, Toppik is more effective now, although not perfect since my loss is in the very front. I've had a bit of luck applying Toppik to the mid scalp and leaning forward while patting my head. This disperses a more conservative amount. I did get called out by a friend who knows I had work done for having powder on my head so my technique still needs some refining lol! Thanks Vic! Dr. Diep did the extractions himself. Not really sure on the manual vs motorized punch as he gave me his "Bill Cosby Cocktail" beforehand, so I don't really remember the details--but I'm assuming it's just whichever one he usually uses. Thanks HLP! Not really sure on donor healing timeline but I've read it's pretty consistent with the 1 year growth period. Melvin saw continued healing after the 5 month mark if i remember correctly, so that's encouraging.

  19. Hi all, I decided to do the FUE route 5 and 1/2 months ago after researching a couple of FUE recommended doctors from this website. I had narrowed down to Dr. Diep because I liked his hairline work and his results were fairly consistent with several YouTube examples to boot. I did not look outside US for personal reasons and I did not go FUT because I did not want the linear scar and option to keep my hair short. I am 38 y/o and started noticing hair loss in my 20s. Currently on Rogaine 5%, Propecia daily, Nizoral weekly. Started 5 Months before HT. I know I need more than this session and am planning for the next session in a year time. Summary of Follicular Units/ Hair count 1's = 769 769 2's = 1102 2204 3's = 505 1515 4's = 321 1284 Total = 2697 5772 Avg. = 2.14/ graft I don't know if all my growth is complete at this point, but I started noticing it around 4 Mo after the expected shed. I feel I am following the timeline posted here roughly. Anyway this is where I am today. I must thank David, Xtian for their guidance and support. Also Spex on his informative videos-as a newcomer it was a great reliable resource for me.
  20. Saw you on Dr. Diep’s video. I’m glad you came back your results look fantastic. There’s another blonde guy who’s documenting his procedure on here as well. I hope you’ll start a new thread when you have your next procedure.
  21. This is exactly what my case looks like too! What is the density Dr. Diep achieved in this procedure OP?
  22. I’m going to disagree with you Gas, Dr. Diep used the zig-zag pattern of micro-irregularities by using placing 1 hair fu’s in a zig zag pattern. This is his calling card for hairlines he mentions this in his videos a lot. Understandable you wouldn’t know since you don’t follow his work, some may not like it. I for one think the zig zags make the hairline appear natural when it's grown out. Also, I was just as bald as this guy with a similar hairline. It can be restored with multiple sessions, but no one should think they can restore the head completely in one session with a Norwood 6 level of balding.
  23. Thanks John! I like Dr. Vories and he's on my top list of surgeons right now. However, I'm 29 and a worried about my future balding pattern so I'm still in the deciding phase of FUE vs FUT. If I were to go FUE, I think I would choose him.
