  1. Skye, Really great post. Thank you so much for sharing. I've heard nothing but great reviews about Dr. Bisanga, and your results thus far can attest to that. Best of luck going forward, and keep us posted with your developments. About my hair loss journey: Happy Patient's Blog
  2. BHR Clinic Dr. Christian BISANGA Age: 35 aprox. Technique: Strip Donor density: 63 FU/cm2 Hair Caliber: Fine Total FU used:- 3275 * FU breakdown:- 1s 798 2s 1602 3s 700 4s 175 TOTAL: 3275 That means 3275 FU = 6802 Hairs. Average = 2,07 hairs/FU. This patient was searching for a more feminine hairline. In order to achieve her goal, Dr. Bisanga used 3275 FU through a strip procedure. Here the pictures. Pre-Post Surgery 15 Months
  3. Some members might remember the story about the “Interview” with Feller, Feriduni (as a FUE/FUT clinic) and myself, which finally never realized. Nevertheless, I went to a second consult with Feriduni. Please be aware, I made an appointment for a consultation and not (!) an interview. Therefore, I only could ask some questions directly related to my case. I also did not record (of course) the discussion, but made notes before and after which I want to share. I also mentioned that I am in an online discussion about strip vs. FUE. - Dr. Feriduni recommended FUE as the right procedure for me (same did Bisanga and Lupanzula but the latter is performing purely FUE so maybe that doesn’t count). - This time I mentioned directly to Feriduni that I am open for strip if the results woud be significantly better - I also mentioned, that in the past I always had my hair long enough to disguise a good strip scar - Feriduni was confident that he could get results with FUE very close (or even similar) to his FUT and I had enough grafts available (which makes the lifetime graft count not a decisive factor for me) - He mentioned that I am (most likely) a good FUE candidate (hair type) - From what I understand it required many years (starting in 2003?) to come from 100-200 grafts a day to the numbers/results he does nowadays - He also mentioned that he would defend his opinion (almost similar results with FUE vs. FUT ) against anyone and actually there is a lot of discussion in the FUE conferences about this topic - Interesting point was that he told that on both sides (pro strip and pro FUE) there are “extremist” in both their opinion and their language (he mentioned the clinics names, but I will not publish them) - He admitted that there is very poor scientific data (FUE vs. FUT) and we had a brief discussion about the scientific articles and how they are edited (would be worth an extra discussion). - Interesting side note: Feriduni briefly explained different FUE extraction methods depending on the patients grafts (which helps reduce trauma but reduces grafts/session) Background to put the recommendation of the clinics into context: - I am 38 years old - Currently require totally 2500-3000 grafts - From my age and family history lifetime grafts required are ~ 5000 (if meds stop working) - All clinics estimated around 10 000 grafts available via FUE (and above average thickness and number of multis) As I am always suspicious and do not trust any doctor blindly (not Dr. Feller, not Dr. Bloxham nor Dr. Feriduni): - I used the “coverage value” from Lorenzo/Erdogan to calculate the available grafts myself and also ended up with around 10 000 grafts - Before I go for a big FUE session, I will do a minor fix for my W-Shape hairline (<300 grafts), which will hopefully tell if I am a good FUE candidate (how easy the grafts can be extracted) - If I am not a good candidate I will do FUT for the major area (crown) Maybe some will find this summary helpful.
  4. All norwood 5s with high sides and back on both sides of the family. In terms of FUT I would put Dr. Feller among the top options with, Bisanga, Hasson + Wong, Konior and Feriduni. My only issue with him is that in the (rare) cases I have seen of a very poor yield there are occasions where his conduct is approaching blatantly unethical, and he is very averse to refunds or touch-ups.
  5. decan, I'm sorry you're not getting any responses, perhaps it's because you're selecting between so many great surgeons that people don't know how to answer that. Honestly, Dr. Feriduni, Dr. Bisanga and Dr. Mwamba are all doing such great work that I would trust them all with my scalp. I would personally look at all of their work on their recommendation profiles (see the drop down box of surgeons in the right hand sidebar) and this forum, consult with each and then decide. I hope this helps. Best wishes Bill
  6. I love to see pictures where hair is transplanted in to completely bald areas and it's so thick and dense when it grows in that you simply can't tell there was ever any baldness there. Dr. Bisanga is top notch and this is another great example of that. Keep up the great work. Best wishes, Bill
  7. I have also been given this advise from some doctors but some prefer fue only in my case. Recently Dr. Bisanga, Doing only FUE will not give you enough coverage, as your donor density is on the lower side. Dr. Bisanga proposes to do a combo procedure by using the FUT and the FUE technique at the same time to harvest as much grafts as possible over 1 intervention. He will be able to get around 3000-3500 grafts with the FUT technique and 1500-1800 grafts with the FUE technique. This will give coverage to the frontal area, the mid scalp and the frontal crown area.
  8. A few months now i've been taking, Fin 1 tab lasts 3 days Min 1 time a day A-z vitamins every other day biotin 5000upg everyday msm, everyday Alpecin shampoo and sometimes nizarol I have noticed my hair looking healthy and no more regrowth but more improvement what i got. Also i saw Dr Bisanga again after 1 year more on fin,min and supplements, The Doctor agrees to do your surgery, but you will have to continue with the vitamins and Minoxidil to make sure that you have a good result. Doing only FUE will not give you enough coverage, as your donor density is on the lower side.
  9. Listen, I considered Dr. Bisnaga for my repair, and it was exactly that (his seemingly inability to explain the choices he makes with patients at times). I think he's a good surgeon. The way he homogenizes extractions across the donor area should be how all docs do it. Alopecia aerata is different than androgenic alopecia. At best it'll encourage some velus hair grown before thinning the skin. I've read a ton of science behind. Just do a simple google search of clobetasol long term effects and look people's skin, man. You want to put this on your head be my guest, by Dr. Bisanga is not an authority on steroids. Perhaps the shampoo is diluted enough but it's still .05 to my knowledge.
  10. Listen, the hair transplant doctors. Dr. Bisanga and Lorenzo are hair transplant surgeons and frankly amateurs when it it comes to diagnosing LPP and other affecting skin conditions. Steroids (topically) cause alopecia. And transplanted hair that is even less protected is going to be affected. Look up the bio chemistry and how the makeup of clobetasol react with skin and follicles. You don't put anything more the hydrocortisone on your head unless you absolutely need to. If you're have a systemic inflammatory reaction going there are safer anti inflammatories than steroids. Most dermatologists throw steroids at redness because it's easy and it's a temporary fix. But cosmetically in the long term, they're a disaster. You honestly have no idea what you're talking about here. My experience of prolonged use is the norm. Maybe you got lucky.
  11. * BHR Clinic * Dr. Christian BISANGA * Age: 32 * Technique: FUE * Medication: Minoxidil and Finasteride * Donor density: 77 FUs/cm2 * Medium-Fine hair * FUs: 2.382 * Previous surgeries: No * Breakdown: - 1s: 472 - 2s: 1046 - 3s: 864 That is 2382 FU = 5156 Hairs. Average: 2,16 Hairs/FU. The goal of this surgery, as you could see, was to rebuild the hairline-temples area. Pre-Post surgery 8 Days 2 Months 3 Months 4 Months 5 Months 0-5 Months 12 Months
  12. I had an in-person consultation with Dr. Konior and we talked about FUT vs FUE. I need 1500-2000 grafts and Dr. Konior told me that he would choose FUE for me without a doubt because of the way I like to style my hair (keeping it very short on the sides). He explained that there have been many advances in the FUE procedure over the years and he now thinks it yields excellent results. I didn't go in to the consultation requesting FUE, and even though I prefer FUE due to less visible scarring at shorter hair lengths, I was open to the idea of getting FUT if Dr. Konior thought that was my best option. He didn't, and confidently reassured me that FUE was the right procedure for me. Dr. Feller, I know you have a fantastic and well-deserved reputation for your FUT results, but in my honest opinion, using such strong, emotional language like "FUE ... rips the graft from the scalp", "FUE is internet hype", and "FUT [allows for] the least amount of trauma known to man" doesn't really help your case. When there are top-tier surgeons like Konior, Hasson and Wong, Rahal, Erdogan, Lorenzo, Bisanga, Feriduni and many others recommending FUE and getting home-run results, it’s hard to make such strong claims against FUE without inferring that you also believe these surgeons are running unethical practices. Finally, speaking from a personal point of view, I have no problem with the *idea* of FUT. I’m not concerned at all about having a strip removed from my head. I’ve had larger medical procedures done and to me FUT surgery seems like no big deal. My biggest concern, by far, is that the FUT scar prevents me from wearing my hair short on the sides. I’ve seen some FUE patients with undetectable scarring at a grade 1 which I just don’t believe is possible with strip. I want as few limitations as possible after my hair transplant, and for me I think FUE is the way to go.
  13. FUT yields better FUT done well provides a far smaller total area of scarring FUT does not diffuse the donor FUT takes the best section of the donor FUT does less harm to the grafts FUT maximises the potential of the donor - All that being said, there are some FUE surgeons - the usual suspects (Erdogan, Couto, Lorenzo, Lupanzula, Bisanga, Feriduni) who are getting better cosmetic results than the vast majority of FUT surgeons with the same amount of grafts, but even inarguably rivalling the cream of the crop FUT surgeons like Dr. Feller. And that's all there is to it. FUT is better in the vast majority of regards, but for the best FUE surgeons the vast majority of the gap is closed. Even in regards to yield and consistency, Lorenzo for example has inarguably more results than any FUT surgeon in the world available for viewing online and has the track record to rival any FUT surgeon in cosmetic improvement per graft and consistency of high yields. Some people just don't want a strip cut out the back of their head when they can instead just go to a surgeon like Erdogan or Lorenzo who 49/50 times is going to get results equal to ANY FUT surgeon.
  14. Hi guys Am 3 days out from having 3020 FUT (7358 hairs....457 1's, 1161 2's, 1029 3's, and 373 4's) with Dr Bisanga in Brussels in the front third of my scalp . The whole thing seemed to go swimmingly...but damn it's a long day in the chair........ The whole staff were quaity there but a special thanks to the patient advisor Steve. He has been a great help throughout the whole process. Arrived in Brussels sunday night...checked in to the hotel and found the clinic. Arrived at the clinic 07:30 on the Monday and met the doctor and the team. Dr Bisanga is a v decent chap and I knew I was in good hands throughout the whole process.... I am sure most of you will know the process but first up he took the pre op photos, then shaved my head down. Then it was in to the chair, a valium and an antiobiotic tablet, and the injections began. The injections are certainly not pleasant but I just detached myself mentally for a few minutes and they were soon done. Next Dr Bisanga took the strip. It's certainly a strange feeling. No pain at all but I have to admit the noise is not pleasant....I believe Dr Bisanga said he takes the strip in 3 sections. Not sure if this is the norm but I guess different doctors have different techniques.... After that the techicians went to work on dividing the grafts while the doctor opened the channels. Again no real pain and I chatted happily with the Dr throughout the process. After that the technicians started to insert the grafts with Dr Bisanga checking back in at regular intervals to examine the work. All in it was a long day and I was pretty relieved when it was all done, but in all fairness I cannot fault the profesionalism of the team. I returned to the clinic the following day for a quick check up and to have the donor and recipient areas cleaned. They seemed very happy with the work and I was good to go. I flew home that day, and the only blip on an otherwise text book visit was a very slight bump on the head as I boarded the plane. When I got home and removed my bandana I was prett panicked to see that a graft had stuck to it and popped out. After a minor panic attack I emailed Steve at the clinic, who replied to me within 5 mins ( in the evening) to put my mind at ease and to tell me not to worry about it. I got my head cleaned up and everything looked fine. Am 3 days out now and healing up very nicely. No probs at all with donor or recipient area...although my head has swelled up like a melon, particulalry around the eyes.I know it's the norm but damn I look like a freek!!!......seems to be going down now thank god. Some before and after photos attached and would welcome any feedback. Will add some more when the stiches come out and will keep you all updated....
  15. Dr. Bisanga has operated on patients who had a kidney transplant in the past. We can perform a hair transplant on you if you get clearance from your doctor.
  16. Other docs in belgium, Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Feriduni, Dr. Lupunzula Bit higher in price though.
  17. This is not to discredit Dr. Reddy, but I think very few on these forums would consider him to have the reputation or output that rivals Bisanga. The cost of a procedure with Reddy for 2500 FUE grafts is quite frankly completely outrageous too. Just an opinion, but I don't think there is justification for prices at that level apart from the fact that there are those willing to pay it.
  18. BHR Clinic Dr. Bisanga 2151 FUE Hairline-Temples case Age 39 Medication: No Medium-Fine hair Breakdown: - 1s: 419 - 2s: 715 - 3s: 558 - 4s: 431 - 5s: 28 That is 2151 FU = 5387 Hairs = 2,50 Hairs/FU. Pre-post surgery 8 Months
  19. 12% transection rate at it's very best. Sure I'll pay double the price to kill off 12% of my yield optimistically. If you're going to play Russian roulette with your hair (Fue), you want to stack the odds in your favor. (Bisanga, Lupanzula, Unnamed Dr. in Atlana GA, Cooley, Lorenzo).
  20. firstly Sorry for the poor punctuation, im using a broken keyboard! Redness wasn{t actually too bad post op however it does seem to have lingered still until now (and I am now more than 3 months post op). As I have said so far I would still highly recommend Dr. Bisanga, hopefully Im saying the same in 12 months time! Very professional. So Id say go for it. My donor site looks fantastic, i have had it shaved down to a 1 and scars are hardly noticable. Not much actually. Just told me to take the clobex shampoo twice a week which is what I have been doing. Will take a break from it after a month. As for the redness itself, its a little itchy, but i am almost 100% sure i dont have scalp psoriasis so not entirely sure why im taking it, yup so im on clobex now (for the past 2 and half weeks), im hoping youre right mate.
  21. I wouldn't base anything off of online consultations, unfortunately it's difficult to know whether you have thinning in the donor region without seeing what's going on microscopically. You live in Sweden, I would suggest taking a short flight to consult with doctors in Belgium like Lupunzula, feriduni, bisanga or even England like Dr. Farjo and Dr. Reddy, if this is something you're seriously considering then it's imperative you see a doctor in person, there's no way of knowing for sure whether you are or aren't a candidate for surgery. To answer your question, if you have thinning in your donor zone you should NOT be getting surgery, because that would mean that the transplanted hair is susceptible to DHT, thus transplantation would not work because the hair would miniaturize and fall out. You would also put yourself in the position of possibly exposing surgical scars whether it be FUT or FUE. Again by the photos your donor zone does not seem diffused, I can clearly see the crown demarcation lines which is a clear sign of genetic patterned alopecia.
  22. Logically what difference will 200 make out of a procedure that costs thousands of dollars, plus there is no guarantee you'll even have the procedure, you're paying for a professional opinion and examination period. I don't know your financial situation maybe 200 makes a big difference to you I don't know, but if that's the case you might wanna save up some money. I'd pay 200 in a heart beat if I felt the consultation was worth it as I said I'd even travel, maybe you should do the same, Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Lupunzula, Dr. Lorenzo, Dr. Freitas they're all in Europe, you may have to travel but some may be willing to do a consult for free, however you'd still have to pay travel expenses which IMO is worth it. Either way you're going to spend money.
  23. BHR Clinic Dr. Christian BISANGA Age: 36 Technique: FUE Medication: Finasteride + Minoxidil Donor densities: 80-80-90 FUs/cm2 Hair Caliber: Medium Coarse Total FU used:- 3344 * FU breakdown:- 1s 562 2s 1677 3s 998 4s 107 TOTAL: 3344 That means 3344 FU = 7338 Hairs. Average = 2,19 hairs/FU. The goal of this surgery was to rebuild the whole frontal third of this patient. Before Pre-post surgery 2,5 Months 6,5 Months 10 Months 0-10 Months
  24. Taking grafts from a flap is an option, at least it is in my case, according to Dr. Bisanga. Generally, having a flap hairline, I always figured this was possible. But this goes back to the hairline discussions. Once you get used to having the thick hairline, it's hard to go back. Bisanga warned me more than once that the hairline would thin out and look different if he took grafts from it. Better to have the hairline or a overall thin top? Just a comment, anyway. It's a curious, and difficult, intersection of a couple important topics.
