  1. So, I know this is extremely debated in the forum, but I'm a noob and wanted to get some insight. I have a bit amount of cash to spend on a HT and was wondering between these three doctors. I know that if I go with Bisanga or Lorenzo I might get lower grafts because of what I can actually afford, but will the result of lower grafts look better than with Dr Erdogan? If it looks the same, plus is more affordable, plus I can get more grafts... should Dr. Erdogan be the logical choice? Any advice will be extremely helpful. Also, for context.. I'm a NW VI ! Not looking for a bon jovi look, just maybe a younger bruce willis type look
  2. Age: 32 Graft break down- 1s 455 2s 805 3s 758 4s 249 Total 2267 Hair Characteristics: Medium Fine Density 60/60/70 Medication to be confirmed. Patient had hair loss pattern with miniaturized front and temples. Goal was to reinforce front and close temples to frame face with a natural design. Patient said the result has improved even more after 12 months and we can look forward to more updates in the future. All post op photos provided by the patient and many thanks to him. Design Placement 12 months
  3. About my situation. I am almost 31 years old, suffering from hair loss since about 2 years. Finasteride has helped me to stabilize the loss, no sides. Here is my story. I have been researching online for about 6 months. Strip is out of the question, I want to keep my future options open. I have focused on the Belgian doctors, they seem to have a lot of FUE experience. My research focused on: · Patient experience · Before and after pictures · Direct contact with the clinics On my initial list: Bisanga, Feriduni, Mwamba I made up my mind about going to Feriduni based on all my criteria. However I recently read a patient review about dr. Feriduni stating that the doctor is hardly involved during FUE treatments, it is virtually all done by his techs. My questions : should I discard Feriduni based on this fact, or should I just concentrate on the results of his team of technicians?
  4. 3-4 months is nothing in terms of long waiting lists. Dr. Couto's seems to be 3 years or more as mentioned above. Also waiting lists are good and bad, I wouldn't want to go with a surgeon who had no waiting list and some of the most respected and best ones out there you have to wait a year or more but it would be worth it in the long run. You also might get lucky and get a cancellation. Bisanga and Erdogan's waiting list are around 3-4 months most times of year and I think that's pretty reasonable for their caliber of results.
  5. A quick update: after 2 days of surgery, I am now going back home. It was a very good experience, everyone at the BHR Clinic is very nice and eager to help. After reading the very detailed account by JohnnyDrama in this forum, I asked Dr. Bisanga if we could perform PRP therapy, with the hope that it would speed up and improve the recovery. It really worked well for JohnnyDrama… do read his story if you haven’t already done so, as it’s really well written and instructive. Dr Bisanga immediately agreed, but advised me to go through other PRP sessions in a few months, something I will look into. As for the surgery itself, currently all looks in place and fits closely with my demands. I will post some pictures when back home, but here is the breakdown of my grafts: 1 UF: 430 2 UF: 1570 3 UF: 620 4 UF: 370 Hope this helps! PS. Hi Khop, no I do not plan going back. I really hope this one surgery will be enough. I had minimal contact with Belgium, basically just hotel-clinic-hotel-clinic. Good luck with your surgery
  6. I think your donor looks fairly decent and you're old enough to have it done as you've reached your 30's and you seem to have made your mind up about the meds. There are a group of very decent hair restoration surgeons in Belgium, such as Dr. Bisanga, Feriduni and Lupanzula etc. I would start researching these docs and try to get an in person consultation also for a more precise evaluation for your case. From the pics you seem to be receding all the way back to the crown, so I would do a two-stage procedure the first one to restore your hairline and frontal third then a later one for the vertex and crown. good luck
  7. As you can see from the replies above the opinions are varied so you're going to have to research it on here or other forums/RealSelf etc., and then decide yourself which is best for own individual case and preferences. Some doctors do perform both FUE and FUT (Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Konior, Dr. Cooley etc.) so maybe best to have an in-person or at the very least online consultation with one of these docs to evaluate your situation and needs. good luck Oh and as you're in IL definitely have a consultation with Dr. Konior in Oakbrook Terrace.
  8. Hey man, That's a very good question. First of all I should have put IF in capitals as Ernie's hair looks great and he's steady on Fin without any sides which is the perfect restoration case. I don't recommend he do anything until the two-year mark. For small FUE touchups I like Bisanga and Konior (he being more of a true stick and place master) both have their pros and cons, cost, waiting list etc. Would really like to add others to that list but those are the ones I have good experience with. I don't think Dr. Maras or Dr. Lupanzula would be a bad choice either - though you won't get stick and place level personalized graft placement - but both allow for partial shaving, have reasonable prices and also solid results.

  10. About 2 years ago I started out researching hair transplant surgeons and techniques. FUT is not an option since I may wear my hair shorter at certain times during the year. FUE is the best option for me and from what read of this and several other international forums Belgium is the hotspot for top quality FUE hair transplantation. Last year I spend money and time visiting clinics in Belgium, meeting up with patient. Among those visited : Bisanga, Feriduni, Mwamba, Prohairclinic After seeing results online and live patient I have decided Prohairclinic is my top choice. They have produced consistent results, had the best live patient results (although others where nearly as good) and had the best price quality model. I took the plunge and the team of Prohairclinic (dr. De Reys was present) performed a 2 day session, covering the crown and frontal hairline. I can truly say that the treatment was very smooth, no pain at all. All I can say to others looking for top quality FUE : Belgium is a place where you will find the best in the world, including Prohairclinic.
  11. Hi Davey, Thank you very much for updating your procedure. The current result of your surgery with Dr. Bisanga looks good in our opinion. If you want us to assess your current situation please feel free to contact me (erinshore@bhrclinic.com) and I will comment your case with Dr. looking all your data. Kind regards,
  12. I can certainly understand as I was a victim of Bosley many years ago in my 20's before eventually finding this site. You have ruled out FUT then? Just want to clarify that because the price is lower for FUT but with the same or maybe even slightly higher growth yield rates. FUE has come a long way in terms of yields and results, but the costs remain high in N. America. The Belgian docs as a whole including the 3 mentioned above have solid reputations and results overall. Dr. Lupanzula is 4.5 euro/graft up to 1,000 grafts and then is 4 euro/graft after that. Dr. Bisanga is around 5.5 euro/graft but depends on how many grafts you get. Feriduni is in the 6 euro/graft range but it's hard to get a booking with him. Erdogan in Turkey is 2.5 euro/graft but ASMED always quotes higher than other clinics for graft counts so be prepared for them to recommend 2x or more than others are recommending.
  13. Hi Davey, For aggressive FUE there is Dr. Erdogan and Dr. Keser in Turkey, and believe it or not Dr. Bisanga can go aggressive when the situation and the patient's needs warrant it. He did my temple corners at 60 grafts/cm2 (I have fine caliber hair so this made for a fairly dense non see-through result). Dr. Feriduni could be another choice but seems waiting lists are long and may require in person consult to get a booking (?).
  14. March 16th & 18th Hi guys, just thought I'd get a thread started while I have the time, to basically document my upcoming weekend of consultations. I think the actual organisation and logistics of the weekend itself might interest a lot of people considering doing the same in the future, on top of my experiences with each doc! I'm only a relative newbie in terms of my posting time here, but over the past few weeks and months I've gotten an awful lot of very useful info from here so just want to try and give a bit back. Given my location, and preference for FUE (surprise surprise), I was glad to see that Belgium is the hotspot in Europe (and arguably, globally). Brief Background/Description: Based in Ireland, and 30 years old. Diffuse loss pattern from early/mid 20s, and have been mixing around the medication treatments for the past 3 years. The meds have definitely had a halting effect as I am sure I would have less, but I'm becoming increasingly uncomfortable (almost anxious) about things so I think HT is the way to go for me. I'll provide pics further down the road. The girlfriend is tagging along as well! It's a bank holiday weekend in Ireland too so works out perfectly in that I'm not having to take any time off work Ambition:Regain density in frontal 3rd. Make my hair line less see-through, and thicken things up in the mid scalp. I'll admit that currently Bisanga and Feriduni are the front runners, but I'm glad I'm getting to see the other 2 docs. Who knows where I'll stand after the weekend! Plan: Drive to Dublin at 2.30am on Sat Mar 16 (2 hr drive) Fly Dublin - Brussels at 6.35am (1hr 40 flight) Arrive at 9.35am Consultation with Dr. Bisanga at 12.30pm at BHR Clinic Train at 2pm from Brussels (Zuid/Midi) to Heist-Op-Den-Berg (1hr 20 train) Consultation with Dr. De Reys at 15.45 at his home address Train back to Brussels at 18.00 and finally check into 5* Stanhope Hotel (ridiculously reasonable price) Sunday = Chill Monday - Check out at 11am Train at 11.35 from Brussels (Zuid/Midi) to Hasselt (1hr 15 train) Consultation with Dr. Feriduni at 13.30 at his clinic Train back to Brussels at 16.10 Consultation with Dr. Mwamba at his clinic Taxi at 19.00 to airport (20 mins) Depart Brussels Airport at 21.20 Arrive in Dublin at 21.50 Arrive home at 00.30 Up for work at 8.00 on Tuesday  Ambitious! As you can see, I wanted to make the most of my time there. Should be an information-packed weekend, and probably tiring! I'll be documenting everything as I go along anyway, and will put as much as possible up here.
  15. I think at least you should speak in person with a hair restoration physician. That will help you make a better informed decision and get things rolling including mental preparation and education overall about your situation and options. To be honest I don't know which European surgeons currently are the leading experts and specialize in AA hair type, but I'm pretty sure Bisanga (around 5.5 euros/graft) and Dr. Lupanzula (4.5 euros/graft up to 1,000 grafts then 4.0 euro/graft after that) will be able to help you out. Some recommended European surgeons are even in the lower range of 2.5 (Dr. Erdogan) -3.5 (Dr. Maras) euros/graft. In the US you'll be paying $9-10/graft, so with exchange rates plus even considering airfare plus hotel it still should be a bit cheaper going to Europe. Here is a link to Bisanga's pricing, and their rep is Daniel. Pm me if you need more info. Or PM forum user KO if you need more info on Lupanzula BHR Hair Transplant Clinic In Brussels, Belgium, FUE, Strip, Repair Surgery, Dr Bisanga
  16. He seems to do decent work and there are a lot of posts by his rep MrGio-WHTCClinic, but the number of actual patient experiences and testimonials is few. Based on that and my own positive experiences with Dr. Bisanga for smaller FUE sessions, I recommend Dr. B. You may likely get other opinions. Good luck
  17. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has had a HT performed by Dr Mwamba? I had seen a previous post in regards to an FUT scar repair and the work looked flawless. Even with the head clippered down to a 2. I am currently in Australia but considering heading overseas and possibly Belguim to have a HT and repair works done on a previous FUT scar. Currently I am looking into dr Bisanga but considering dr Mwamba after seeing these results. Can anyone help me to make the best decision on who to see.
  18. * What are people's opinions on results I could achieve if I'm looking at FUE? (I don't want a big scar strip in the back of my head) I had more hair loss than you currently have (we're the same age) and I've only had FUE, it can certainly be done, but will be very costly if you stay within the U.S. * Lots of doctors (whose photos I wasn't as impressed with) seem to advocate using Artas. What's the latest thinking on this, and is there any reason doctors still believe "feel of the hand" can out perform the benefits of a machine analysis? I personally don't subscribe to the idea that one method is better than the other, manual, motorized, artas, they are all just tools, if in the right hands they can all deliver good results. I think the general consensus is that manual is better, IMO I think it depends on the surgeon and what they are comfortable with, I honestly believe you could get good results with either tool it just depends on how good the surgeon is at using the specific tool. * Outside of Konior, I'll have to travel for a consultation, follow up, etc. I make a decent living for a 31 year old, but I'm not rolling in money. How do people travel for these surgeries? Do they have to make multiple trips across the country (or world in some cases) to get FUE? Most set up skype consultations with the doctors and travel once to have their procedure. I think if you're only interested in FUE and you have a budget, your best option is to seek out treatment in Europe, particularly Belgium and Spain, you can look at Dr. Lupunzula, Dr. Feriduni, Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Lorenzo, Dr. Cuoto. All of which will be cheaper than Dr. Konoir. With that said, I don't think you'll find a more respected surgeon than Dr. Konoir. Given that you already live in Chicago, I think it would be worth it to spend a little extra money and save yourself the hassle of having to travel. I stayed fairly local for my procedures, I live in the LA area and traveled 5 hours away to the SF bay area to have my procedure. Could I have saved some money traveling abroad? sure but then there is a convenience factor to consider, if you can achieve good results conveniently close why not, of course this is just my thinking. I also agree with David, don't lower your hairiline, you are still losing hair even on Dutasteride, that means you are highly sensitive to DHT, I think its clear you will be a future Norwood 6 eventually even with the meds, plan your surgeries carefully and plan for the future, you want to look good at 41, 51, 61 etc.
  19. Recently I visited several hair transplant clinics in Europe that I believed were potentially on pare with the very best clinics in North America. I'm glad to report that some of these European clinics lived up to my best hopes. In short, hair loss sufferers in the UK and Continental Europe, in my opinion, do not need to fly to North America to get truly world class ultra refined hair transplant results. Prior to my trip to Europe I did extensive research on hair transplant clinics throughout Europe. Many clinics were immediately scratched off the list of clinics worth considering or visiting based on their use of outdated techniques and poor patient results. Over the years I have had the benefit of corresponding with many European patients who shared their experiences. These first hand accounts were valuable in identifying those clinics who provided consistently good results. In general the European patient based discussion forums tended to have a negative opinion of hair transplant clinics and physicians in Spain, Italy, France and Germany, while many patients on these forums suggested traveling to Belgium or the UK to get state of the art hair transplantation. These forums are listed below as resources for those based in Europe who speak Spanish, German, Dutch and French. Haarweb: Dutch speaking web forum focused entirely on hair transplantation. Alopezie: German language forum about hair transplantation Doctissimo: French speaking forum about hair loss and hair transplantation. Stop Hair Loss Now - This English language site/forum is UK based. Spanish language Hair Loss Information website http://www.recuperarelpelo.com Based on my research, I tend to agree that Belgium and the UK seem to have the best hair transplant clinics in Europe, some of which are on pare with the leading clinics in North America. I'm also impressed by the work and technique of the Transmed clinic based in Istanbul, Turkey. To see their website, click here . However, I did not have the opportunity to visit this clinic on this trip. However, no person or group of people can have perfect or definitive information about the quality of work being done at all clinics throughout Europe. Thus while I did not find any clinics in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Austria, etc. that appeared compelling enough to merit a visit, it is possible that I might not be aware of such clinics. Thus I chose to visit the following clinics which I thought looked most promising in Europe: Dr. Jean DeVroye ??“ Brussels, Belgium Dr. Bijan Feriduni ??“ Hasselt, Belgium Pro Hair Clinic in Belgium Note ??“ Dr. Bisanga, with the BHR clinic in Brussels, looked impressive. However, he was in the USA during my visit and thus not available to let me observe his surgery. Farjo Medical Centre in Manchester, England (Physicians Drs. Bessam and Nilofer Farjo) Rogers clinic in London (physicians ??“ Dr. Rogers and Dr. Stevenson) Highlights from Pat's Visit to Leading Clinics in Belgium: Based upon the impressive work that I witnessed in Belgium, this small country in particular appears to be a hotbed of world class hair transplantation. Brussels is centrally located and easy to access, which is perhaps one of the reasons that Brussels is the capitol city of European Union as well as NATO. The world class work that I see being done in Belgium is so compelling that I recommend that Germans, French, Spanish and other Europeans strongly consider traveling to Belgium to get world class hair transplant services. The Belgians, in particular the Flemish people outside of Brussels, are also very multi lingual with many of them speaking English, French and German in addition to Flemish. Visit to Dr. Jean DeVroye's hair transplant clinic in Brussels, Belgium I have known Dr. DeVroye for several years. In fact we both attended our first hair conference in Paris ten years ago ??“ me as a show case patient of Dr. Ron Shapiro and Dr. DeVroye as physician who was aspiring to become a great hair transplant surgeon. We'll after ten years of hard work and dedication; I believe that Dr. DeVroye has succeeded. He has really paid his dues over the years ??“ observing and working extensively with leading hair transplant surgeons in North America, attending international hair restoration meetings and more recently becoming an important contributor and teacher in his own right. Having seen him perform surgery and discussed the finer details of his surgery I believe that Dr. DeVroye is both an artist and a skilled hair transplant surgeon. He strives for perfection and it shows in his staff, the procedure and in the final patient results. His procedure is one of the most minimally invasive, refined and clean procedures that I have every seen. His staff also seems to share his enthusiasm and commitment to excellence. They work together as a team harmoniously and their all microscopic graft cutting and placing are second to none in my opinion. I had the honor of watching three of Dr. DeVroye's ultra refined follicular unit procedures over three days and I was very impressed at all stages of the procedure. It simply doesn't get any better any where. Dr. DeVroye has been recommended on the Hair Transplant Network (see his profile ) for the past few years. But after seeing the level of he and his staff's work I think he should be considered for membership in the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Frankly, I think he has really earned a place amongst the best of the best. To see photos of these procedures and to read my highlights, click here . His website also provides a wealth of great information in multiple languages, including immediate post op photos and examples of his trichophytic closure. Visit to Dr. Bijan Ferduni hair transplant clinic in Hasselt, Belgium After having spent the last ten years searching for the very best hair transplant physicians, it's rare to discover an outstanding physician who is not on our community. When it happens it's as exciting as finding a giant gem after digging through rocks for days. That excitement is what I felt after watching Dr. Feriduni and his staff perform truly refined follicular unit grafting. Their attention to detail, donor closure, microscopic graft cutting and graft placing were all excellent. His trichophytic closure technique was one of the most refined that I've ever seen. Dr. Feriduni offers his patients both ultra refined follicular unit grafting and follicular unit extraction (FUE), with many of his FUE cases exceeding 1,000 grafts in one day. Dr. Feriduni provides free and very personable consultations in English, French, German and Flemmish. I look forward to making more information available about Dr. Feriduni and his outstanding clinic. To see highlights from my visit to his clinic, click here . Visit to the ProHair FUE hair transplant clinic in Mechelen, Belgium In May of 2007 at the ESHRS meeting in Paris Dr. Ilter announced to his colleagues that he was regularly performing FUE mega sessions of up to 3,000 grafts per day with follicle transaction rates that he believes are under 1 percent, while using punches that are as small as 0.6mm. Such claims certainly raised some eyebrows and skepticism among many of his colleagues. Dr. Ilter responded by inviting his physician colleagues to visit him at either the Pro Hair Clinic in Belgium or the Ilter clinic in Stockholm, Sweden to watch him do it. Bart, who posts on our forum as "Bverotti" and who works as a patient consultant for the Pro Hair Clinic, also announced this claim on this and other discussion forums. He was also met with skepticism. Bart extended an invitation to me to visit the Pro Hair Clinic to see for myself. Having watched FUE be born and heavily oversold on the Internet years ago, I've always been skeptical of its value given its relative high cost, shaving of the entire donor area, small session sizes and potential for follicle transaction and damage. However, if most of these limitations were over come I'd be the first to want to see it for myself. If FUE could indeed be done in mega sessions with minimal follicle transaction and cosmetically undetectable scars due to the tiny 0.6 and 0.7mm punches then this would make the procedure much more viable and appealing. So I did visit the Pro Hair Clinic during my time in Belgium. Unfortunately, the surgery that was scheduled during the day of my visit was canceled unexpectedly by the patient. I would have really liked to stand by and watch them do a 1,500 plus graft session in one day. However, I did have an opportunity to meet with Bart and visit the Pro Hair Clinic. Bart is a true believer in FUE mega sessions and had FUE surgery with Dr. Jones in Toronto and more recently he did a one day FUE session of 1,850 grafts with Dr. Ilter. I enjoyed meeting with Bart and found him to have a genuine enthusiasm for the big session FUE surgeries. When he showed me the 0.6 and 0.7mm punches that they use I was amazed at how small they were. To see photos of these punches and the clinic, click here. Hard to imagine that such tiny punches could successfully extract one hair follicles let alone two and three hair ones with transaction rates of less than one percent. But Bart claims that the physicians, who do FUE all day every day, develop the ability to feel their way around the follicle as they rotate the punch down and around the follicles. While Dr. Ilter does on occasion perform surgery at the Pro Hair Clinic in Belgium, he primarily does the majority of his surgeries at his Ilter Clinic in Stockholm, Sweden. The majority of FUE surgeries performed at the Pro Hair Clinic are performed by Dr. DeReys, who was trained by Dr. Ilter. While I will remain skeptical until I see more evidence of the success of such FUE mega sessions I will keep an open mind. After all, I remember when most physicians resisted the early strip mega sessions that were 1,500 grafts ??“ claiming that the scalp could not support such giant sessions and that such tiny grafts could not possibly create density. Dr. Bill Rassman's response to such nay saying is a classic ??“ "Those who say it can't be done should not stand in the way of those who are doing it everyday." FUE mega sessions? Have they really arrived? I expect we will all know much more in the months to come. Highlights from Pat's Visit to Leading Clinics in the United Kingdom: Over the years the UK has earned a reputation online for generally providing outdated, sub pare and even harmful hair transplant results. Most of the UK hair transplant clinics in my opinion simply provide sub pare techniques and results. However, I believe there are two clinics in the UK that are heads and shoulders above the rest of the UK clinics. I chose to visit these two, while the other clinics in my opinion and in the opinion of many others were not worth visiting. These two UK based clinics are the Roger's clinic and the Farjo Medical Centre. Visit to the Farjo Medical Centre in Manchester, England After watching Dr. Bessam Farjo and his wife Dr. Nilofer Farjo and their staff in action over two days and two impressive ultra refined surgeries, I was very pleased to see that they have successfully incorporated all of the most important recent advances in hair restoration into their clinic and procedure. All of their grafts are carefully trimmed under microscopes, with Dr. Nilofer Farjo closely supervising the medical technicians, while cutting and placing grafts herself. Both Bessam and Nilofer also create all the carefully oriented and minimally invasive graft incisions using custom cut blades that are as small as 0.7mm. Their use of small incisions enables their patients to achieve greater density in a single session, while experiencing quicker healing. They take a team approach to the surgery with all hands on deck and working well together. Given the size and skill of the team the clinic can perform large sessions in excess of 3,000 grafts when appropriate for the patient. They typically limit themselves to one patient a day to achieve an optimal level of care. Their donor strip removal and trichophytic closure are also very state of the art with care taken to minimize any follicle transaction or scarring in the donor area. In short, in my opinion, the quality of care and service being provided by the Farjo clinic is on pare with leading clinics in North America. Visit to the Rogers Clinic in London and Stratford-Upon-Avon Recently in reading the UK based hair loss forum, Stop Hair Loss Now, I was impressed by how forth right Dr. Rogers was in responding to the concerns of UK patients and hair loss suffers. His willingness to engage in open dialog on this forum and be publicly accountable for his patient results, as well as share his own recent hair transplant experience online has earned him a degree of respect with the members of this forum and with me. After speaking with Dr. Rogers by telephone and learning that he was adopting leading edge refinements such as using tiny custom cut blades as small as 0.8mm and moving toward bigger high density sessions, I decided to visit his clinic and observe him and his lovely associate, Dr. Alexandra Stevenson, performing surgery. After learning that Dr. Rogers was moving toward adopting leading edge refinements such as using tiny custom cut blades as small as 0.8mm and moving toward bigger high density sessions, I decided to visit his clinic and observe him and his lovely associate, Dr. Alexandra Stevenson, performing surgery. After visiting with them over two days, my impression of Dr. Rogers, Dr. Stevenson and their staff is that they are ethical and striving to do quality work for their patients. Dr. Rogers is well aware of the ultra refined surgical techniques being used by the leading hair transplant clinics in North America and has made progress in recent years in implementing some of these evolutions in technique, including smaller and less invasive incisions. Dr. Rogers and Dr. Stevenson also take great care in how they remove the donor tissue and they do a double layer trichophytic closure. However, they are still not doing all microscopic dissection. They do use microscopes for trimming the donor strip into smaller sections (a process referred to as "slivering") and for some of the grafts. Yet most of the techs are only using back lighting with eye loops or no loops at all. In my opinion, based on observation, published studies and input from dozens of leading physicians, all microscopic graft dissection is important if a clinic is going to successfully perform ultra refined follicular unit grafting with optimal results. I hope that they will adopt all microscopic dissection in the coming months. If they do, I think that their procedure has the potential to be world class. Dr. Roger's has over ten years experience in performing hair transplantation and performs sessions of up to 3,000 all follicular unit grafts. Dr. Stevenson has been doing hair transplantation for over two years and learned her techniques from Dr. Rogers. While the quality of her work is very high, her session sizes are typically limited to around 1,500 grafts. In my opinion, if she aspires to be competitive online on a world wide playing field she will need to move beyond her comfort zone and perform bigger sessions when appropriate for her patients. In general I believe that the Rogers Clinic and its committed staff are doing vastly better hair transplantation than other hair transplant clinics in the UK, with the exception of the Farjo Clinic. I expect that they will in time rise to the challenge of doing all microscopic dissection in the coming months. I look forward to monitoring their progress and patient reports and in time recommending them on our community once they meet our high standards (To view our standards for recommendation, visit http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Consult-a-Physicia...tion-physicians.asp). Hair Transplant Clinics in Ireland Dr. Maurice Collins - Dublin I visited Dr. Maurice Collins' clinic in Dublin about two years ago when he was in the early stages of establishing his hair restoration clinic at the Black Rock Clinic. Previously Dr. Collins had been very diligent in attending all the major hair transplant conferences and visiting leading clinics to learn about the optimal procedures and techniques. Dr. Collins spared no expense in setting up a state of the art facility with a quality staff. While his procedure looked solid and physicians visiting more recently have spoken highly of his procedure, I find that his prices are very high - as much as 20,000 euros ($28,000) for a 2,000 graft session. He also charges 250 euros for his consultations. Given such high prices I could not in good conscious recommend his clinic. Dr. Conor Kiely - Cork I met Dr. Kiely at some of the international hair transplant meetings in recent years. He impressed me as having a genuine interest in learning about the best hair transplant techniques and procedures. He also invested time in visiting with some of the leading hair transplant surgeons in North America, including Dr. Ron Shapiro and Dr. David Seager. Judging from his website he appears to be performing state of the art follicular unit hair transplantation. But I have gotten very little feedback from his patients. However, I had made travel arrangements and booked flights to observe his surgery at his clinic in Cork, Ireland. Unfortunately, he experienced a family emergency and was not available on the day I was to visit. If any patients of his would care to share their experiences on this forum or with me by email I encourage them to do so.
  20. Welcome to the forum, (1) Are you currently taking any medicines for your hair loss (Propecia, minoxidil etc)? *Some of these can have lasting side effects so I'm not recommending you jump on them, but at least know what are the options. 24 is on the young side and it may be a better idea to wait a bit. However, in the meantime you could have an in person consultation with a hair restoration doctor to evalutae your situation and your donor hair etc. I think Dr. Lindsey is located in VA for example (he doesn't specialize in FUE but is a respected surgeon) (2) Transplanted hair when it grows in after 3-4 months post-op is your own natural hair, and except for the first few months when it's growing in and you need to be careful, after about 4-5 months you're free to cut it or shave it anyway you like. (3) You will get a more definitive answer during an in person consult with a hair restoration doctor. (4) FUE in N. America is quite expensive and may be around $9-10/graft. If you have it done in Europe it's more affordable and there are more surgeons who specialize in FUE there. Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Lupanzula would be two elite surgeons I recommend to have online consults with to start out with. There are others as well. (5) For FUE I don't think so. Especially for an affordable price you will have to travel, and as mentioned Europe will give you more options. In N. America the talented FUE surgeons who are well known are Dr. Shapiro (Minnesota), Dr. Konior (Chicago), Dr. Rahal (Toronto), Dr. Diep (California) and Dr. Vories (N. Carolina). Some of the FUT surgeons such as Dr. Cooley (N. Carolina) also do FUE from time to time. (6) It depends on how aggressive you want to go but I think you're looking at 2,500-3,000 grafts to start with for a somewhat aggressive procedure (if seeking a somewhat natural level of density). good luck
  21. Don't forget to give Dr. Lorenzo, Dr. Bisanga and Dr. Lupanzula in Belgium and Dr. Maras in Cyrpus a look as well. I think shock loss could be a real concern in your case so look at clinics with past proven results of transplanting into existing hair, not only cases of transplanting into bald areas which is less risky and easier to do. Btw ASMED said the same exact thing to me lol Have no idea why they cannot agree to partial shaving (donor and immediate recipient only) when almost all other surgeons can and have no problem doing it.
  22. jcs87, I understand what you're doing in terms of asking other posters. But what do you like? Which doctors impress you? You have to remember, there are many doctors doing good work, but only a small number of names get passed around as "recommendations". Only 3 years ago did Bisanga get on this forum, and few english speaking posters had heard of Dr Lorenzo. I don't know how many of those realize that Dr. Vila's results also are part of Injerto Capilar's results library. Most posters hadn't heard of Couto, but in a few months you see posters touting him. Relying on poster recs will lead you to a limited set of names. Just FYI.
  23. So after 10 years of being a forum lurker, I am seriously considering getting FUE for a receeding hairline and temple work- I'm a Norwood 3. I can't say my hairloss hasn't progressed over the past 10 years but it's been slow. I am very comfortable getting a procedure done knowing that I will need follow up procedures later on. My career is very client relationship focused, so I am looking into doctors that do FUE with unshaven recipient areas. My hair is relatively short on the sides and back, and I'll likely take a month off work so I don't mind having my donor area shaven. Cost is not really a factor but I think US surgeons that are charging $8-10/graft are way overpriced compared to other regions of the world. I came up with a short list of potential surgeons and I've reached out to them for online consults. How would you rank the surgeons currently on my list? Is there anyone else that I should be considering or consider removing from the list? Bisanga and Konior are at the top of my list at the moment- both have shown excellent hairlines and strong ethics in my opinion. Dr. Bisanga Dr. Konior Dr. Erdogen (shows great results but a little worried about who's actually doing the work) Dr. Diep (Checking if he does unshaven recipient surgeries- does anyone know?) Dr. Shapiro Dr. Mwamba Dr. Umar
  24. Age: 34 Medication: Minoxidil Graft break down:- 1s 748 2s 1419 3s 1112 4s 734 Total 4013 Density 70/80/80 in donor and good laxity. Patient had diffused thinning in the frontal third and goal was to give a strong hair line while blending back and the patient wanted to go as least conservative as possible in design and we achieved that here. Patient had good density and also good follicular unit make up of 3s and 4s was evident and helped to achieve the fullness. Patient was very happy to share his case and full face also and his comments to me were he was "proud of his result" and a big thank you to him for sharing the photos he did. I would say that he is really enjoying his hair from looking at them and from speaking to him. All post op photos are as said supplied by the patient and not taken in the clinic due to patient residing in a different country so are what he was able to send, so apologies if some not the highest quality but have been taken from phones while he was on the go. If he returns to the clinic then we would be happy to get fresh ones. Pre-op design Placement Closure Lunch break photo 4 Months 6 Months 12 Months and beyond
  25. Hey man, He does get cancellations occasionally I guess, so getting on a waiting list plus actual booking date next year may be the best method. I was in the same boat as well late last year, so many options and affordable ones these days it makes it harder to pull the trigger. I've had two small FUE procedures with Dr. Bisanga in Belgium and Dr. Konior's extraction techniques are on par if not surpassing. Post surgery trauma and redness in donor is much less, honestly I didn't even know he was removing the grafts. While during the Bisanga procedure I could feel each one being extracted. Dr. K used a .7mm punch on me but I have fine hair so he was able to go lower in my case. It will depend on your hair caliber and scalp characteristics.
