  1. Treatment plan: Follicular Unit Extraction with 300 follicular units to fill in a scar from a previous hair transplant procedure (ex domo) Performed procedure (December 7th, 2011): A Follicular Unit Extraction with 333 FU * 89 single hair FU * 244 double and triple hair FU Extraction performed with a 0.9mm FUE punch with Versi handle™. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts; Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.85m – 0.9mm) Dr. B. Feriduni
  2. FUE performed on a 37 year old Caucasian male with: - NW II Class T - Donor density of 72 FU/cm2 in the temporal donor region and 88 FU/cm2 in the parietal donor region - Hair diameter of ~60-74 µm - ‘Wrong-placed’ transplants and linear scar from a previous procedure in 2010 (ex domo) Treatment plan: - 1st FUE treatment with 2400-2800 FU to reconstruct the entire hairline - 2nd FUE treatment with 300-500 FU to fill in the existing linear scar Performed procedures: 1st Treatment (April 27th, 2015) A Follicular Unit Extraction with 1744 FU * 640 single hair FU * 1104 double hair FU * No triple hair FU Ʃ: 1744 FU Extraction performed with a 0.85mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.8mm – 0.85mm) 2nd Treatment (February 4th, 2016) A Follicular Unit Extraction with 310 FU * 100 single hair FU * 210 double hair FU * No triple hair FU Ʃ: 310 FU Extraction performed with a 0.85mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.8mm – 0.85mm) Dr. Bijan Feriduni
  3. Thanks for replying. Dr. Koray Erdogan replied to my consultation and he says that the hair on the crown is miniaturised. He recommends that I get surgery on the front (hairline and front side) because if I get HT on all the upper side (among my native hairs) the shock could be important for the native hairs that he believes are weak. I will send better photos of that area because they don't look that bad close enough, just to be sure. Has anyone received similar advice from this or any other doctor? EDIT: This doctor after seeing my photos think that I'd need 2800-3300. EDIT 2: I have contacted Diep and Feriduni as well, waiting for replies.
  4. Clooney has just great hair and no transplant. It just appears that way, cause he shaved his hairline in ER (Simliar to V. Karheiser in Mad Men). Therefore, you will never reach his status even with the best clinic. If you have minmal loss, only looking for the hairline and you have great hair/skin characteristics you can get a great, natural result. You should go to a clinic with specializes on that and dr. doing most of the work) My favorits for such cases: - Konoir (he is above the others for such a case and would be my choice but waiting list and prices are insane) - Couto - Keser - HLC - Kaan (reltively unkown as he is not long independent but much cheaper than the rest) - Lupanzula From the clinics with a more technician based approach, who still do great hairline work I like: - Rahal - Feriduni The latter one would be on top of my list also for bigger cases. For Rahal I would prefer FUT in case of bigger areas.
  5. Hi Asgard, First, it seems as if you have some permanent shock loss around your FUT scar. Second, you seem to also have significant retrograde alopecia in the back, and above the ears forward to the temple points. This is not uncommon and you see a lot of men with MPB who also have retrograde alopecia but it does unfortunately limit the permanent donor zone and may affect the growth yield of your HT. The only way to ascertain if you have DUPA is by seeing a dermatologist and/or an ethical HT Doctor who will check for miniaturization in the donor zone. Did Dr. Devroye notice any signs of DUPA when you saw him in 2014? Did he check for miniaturization in the donor zone? I would consult with a reputable doctor first before moving forward with any SMP treatment. Have you considered setting up an appointment with Dr. Bisanga or Dr. Feriduni in Belgium? Good luck.
  6. Despite what seems to be tons of forum posts and different sites, there seems to be absolutely no consensus on surgeons, and more annoying then that, no one mentions price. One thing i've noticed is people hardly ever say how much they paid in their threads. Despite this being such a critical factor - none of us want to pay over the odds. The prices seem to vary so much. I'm in the UK - is it worth travelling abroad? Well,i don't know, because virtually every single patient who has posted on here doesn't say how much he paid. all i'm trying to do is find a list of surgeons in the UK and Europe, who have a good catalogue of testimonials, a good website showing all the testimonials, HOw much i'd expect to pay, the doctors and their names, and what is charged per graft (i want FUT for definite). I've spent in total maybe 8 hours over the last 3 weeks on this website, and i've struggled to actually produce a short list of doctors to check out in europe. Can anyone help? can we make THIS thread THE thread for a list of recommended surgeons for Uk and Europe Only? with Who the name was of the doctor, how much you paid, and the name of the clinic and any associated website? or if that thread already exists, please can someone direct me to it? i don't get why no one mentions the price. Its suurely a critical factor in deciding - obviously we all want a quality result, and i'm prepared to pay for a good result - but if there is a doctor in turkey who can do a great job for half the price of someone in the UK, then i'd consider travelling. please help?! for the record, i'm 31, a Norwood 3, have good donor area (from a few consultations i had back in 2014 and a few online ones). So i know what i'm looking for, it just seems like such a difficult task to find it! FUT is definitely what i want. so far i've looked at - Vinci hair clinic - they don't mention any of the doctors. I have a consultation with them in birmingham in a few weeks. No idea on price, i've asked them to give me approximation. - Dr Feriduni quoted 9.8k to 13k for 1800-2400 FU in a day, using FUE - i've asked them to give a quote for FUT as that's what i specified in their online form, so they just ignored this (annoying), but no response so far. - A trans friend of mine recommended Dr. Richard Rodgers who came to the Sk:n clinic in nottingham to perform the HT - and paid 5500 GBP for just over 2500 grafts - this is my first choice at the moment. - BHR clinic and Dr Bisanga - consultation booked in for May when he comes to London. I've asked how much they charge and will report back here. - elate health UK, Dr. Max Malik - looks promising, appears to have all the credentials, a few before and after photos on the website with 23-2500 grafts showing exactly what i want (similar norwood 3 patients). Arranging a consultation. I'll continue to add to this original post more as a list to myself than anything but hopefully it helps others - and please, if you can provide recommended doctors here, please say how much they charge and evidence of their work - UK + EUrope doctors Only please! thank you
  7. Hello, I'm new posting to this Forum. I'm in my forties with Norwood 5. I'm interested only in FUE since I keep my hair short and I would like to keep my downtime to the minimum. I don't mind traveling for the right surgeon. I would really appreciate your recommendations. Sorry if I have a long list. Thanks
  8. Thanks for your well wishes Gasthoerer. I have to give all the credit for the hair line design to Dr. Feriduni though. This is the hairline I wanted but Dr. Feriduni talked me out of it and I am very happy that he did. He told me that a common mistake between hairloss sufferers is that because of the psychological pressure and stress we endure, we usually want to overcorrect the problem. Very interesting fact which is at least true about me I think. I am super happy with his hairline design and I think it fits my face very nicely. He spent a lot of time on my hairline design going back and forth and looking at his work from all possible angles. The man is a true artist. He told me that this part of the job is like a painiting and I have to be paitent with him
  9. FUE performed on a 36 year old Caucasian male with: - A diffuse hair loss pattern - Donor density of 88 FU/cm2 in the temporal region and 96 FU/cm2 in the parietal region - Hair diameter of ~54-58 µm Treatment plan: A Follicular Unit Extraction with 2700-3200 FU to reconstruct the hairline, the central core and the beginning of the bridge. A medical therapy with finasteride 1mg to prevent permanent postoperative shock loss and further hair loss in the crown area. Performed procedure (December 3rd, 2015): A Follicular Unit Extraction procedure with 2852 FU: - 500 single hair FU - 1376 double hair FU - 976 triple hair FU Extraction performed with a 0.80mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.85mm) In this patient’s case, there has been a considerable improvement in hair thickness and -growth in the crown area due to the medical therapy with finasteride 1mg. The crown area has not been addressed during the hair transplant procedure, the whole improvement in the crown area (all new hairs) is a result of the effect of finasteride. Dr. Bijan Feriduni
  10. Dear Gasthoerer, Thank you for your compliment. Considering your question: nowadays, a latest state-of-the-art hair transplant without magnification is impossible. There are different types of magnification on the market, but in our clinic we choose to work with Zeiss loupes with a 3x , 4x, 5x and 8x times magnification ability. There are some misunderstandings concerning the terms microscopical preparation and microscopical control. Please allow me to explain the difference: 1. Microscopical preparation What is meant by preparation of the FU’s is basically “trimming” the FU’s with a surgical blade in order to reduce their connective tissue. This is mostly not necessary, especially when the dissection is done with a small punch size, e.g. CIT Punches 0,8 or 0,85 mm. That?s why we add this information always to our case reports. In general, it is possible to create the necessary amount of single FU’s by simply splitting a FU. Having a close look at the different donor areas - occipital, parietal and temporal - we see nearly in every case a difference in density, caliber and different types of FU groups. Attached an example of the 3 different donor areas: occipital, parietal, temporal There are much more and finer single follicles at the temporal area. Dividing the singles in “normal” and “fine” follicles helps, together with some more important points to create a natural hairline. 2. Microscopical dissection: In my opinion, stereo-microscopical inspection is a must to evade “double” FU’s in the first frontal line. There is however no guarantee which excludes these at all times as there are also obviously some of them, who find themselves in the dormant - or telogen- phase, and which cannot be perceived under any type of magnification. After being extracted and dissected, we prefer to cool the FU’s temperature down to 4° Celsius whilst classifying them into groups of single, fine and normal ones. Attached two images of pre-sorting the FU's after extraction Double and triple FU’s are mostly divided together under loupe magnification. They are generally not classified in separate groups, as - in my opinion- the mixture of double, triple and sometimes also quadripple FU’s gives the most natural effect. That is also exactly what the nature is doing. Attached an example of the donor area with a mixture of different groups (photo DermaLite) Shortly before implantation we perform a final microscopical check of the single, fine and normal FU’s with our Mantis 5,0 microscope and store them per 50 FU in small platters. Also the double, triple and quadripple FU’s get prepared on small platters with 50 FU per compress. Attached an image of the FU's being prepared on small platters and an close-up of the FU's My apologies for the belated answer. I hope you are satisfied with my personal reply. Kind regards, Dr. Feriduni
  11. Gasthoerer, I won’t try to answer for Dr. Feriduni But with the donor harvesting technique FUE, follicular units are typically not further dissected under microscope. Sure magnification is used during the excision process which includes both making the incision and extracting the follicle. Microscopic dissection is used during strip surgery to separate follicular units from one another and possibly even trim them down further. In most cases, a graft that’s harvested via FUE doesn’t need any further trimming and doesn’t need to be separated from another follicular units because one is harvested at a time. So I’m guessing, although obviously each clinic is different and I will let Dr. Feriduni describe how things work at his own clinic, that the fact that microscopic dissection wasn’t used is because it’s not typically used in this type of donor closure technique. Best wishes, Bill
  12. Dear Gasthoerer, First of all our apologies for the late response. Our clinic was closed last week (Easter). I will get back to you with an appropriate answer from Dr. Feriduni himself as soon as the surgeries today are done. Thank you for understanding and the nice compliment you gave us.
  13. FUE performed on a 31 year old Caucasian male with: - Norwood Type II Class N - Donor density of 80 FU/cm2 in the temporal region and 88-92 FU/cm2 in the parietal region - Hair diameter of ~60-62 µm Treatment plan: A Follicular Unit Extraction with 2200 FU to reconstruct the entire hairline in a conservative design. Performed procedure (December 12th, 2015): A Follicular Unit Extraction procedure with 2240 FU: - 427 single hair FU - 1060 double hair FU - 753 triple hair FU Extraction performed with a 0.80mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.85mm) Dr. Bijan Feriduni
  14. (8 years after 1st FUT and 3 years after 2nd FUT) FUT performed on a 43 year old Caucasian male with: - NW II beg. III (1st FUT) => NW IV beg. V (2nd FUT) - Donor density of 84 FU/cm2 in the occipital region and 76 FU/cm2 in the parietal region - Hair diameter of ~54-58 microns Treatment plan: - Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation to reconstruct the entire hairline, central core, temporal peaks and beginning bridge - 2nd Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation to add density to zone the hairline, central core and vertex Performed procedures 1st procedure (June 6th, 2008): A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 2000 FU * 579 single hair FU * 995 double hair FU * 426 triple hair FUE Trichophytic Closure technique in double layer suture; Parallel incisions in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.7 mm – 0.9mm). 2nd procedure (February 28th, 2013): A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 3963 FU * 497 single hair FU * 2945 double hair FU * 521 triple hair FU Trichophytic Closure technique in double layer suture; Parallel incisions in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.7 mm – 0.9mm). Dr. Bijan Feriduni
  15. FUE performed on a 53 year old Caucasian male with: - Norwood Type V Class T - Donor density of 72 FU/cm2 in the temporal region and 92 FU/cm2 in the occipital region - Hair diameter of ~64-70 µm Treatment plan: A Follicular Unit Extraction with 3000 FU to reconstruct the entire hairline, central core, the lateral humps and bridge. Still planned: A 2nd Follicular Unit Extraction with 1500-2000 FU to reconstruct the crown area in low/medium density. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts; Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.9mm) Dr. Bijan Feriduni
  16. Well its been a little over three years. I was about to have my "free touch up" procedure with Dr Feriduni about 1.5 weeks ago but I cancelled it. Booked the flight. Set the date...Cancelled as once everything was confirmed my mind went dark. I felt very uneasy. I rarely have issues sleeping but the sleepless nights started. Emailed the clinic a very honest message as to my anxiety and concerns. Told them I was cancelling or would take a day or so to give the final answer. The clinic responded(not Dr.Feriduni) and thanked me and also said the Dr Feriduni would most likely contact me. Well....Wait for it...He never did. My major concerns 1.)failure again 2.)my donor area took a very hard hit 3.)failure again 4.)failure again My wife has been amazing in this entire process FYI. About as supportive as you can get. We have a 2 year old and he is amazing and life is pretty good overall. Over the past few years since the procedure its always been noted by literally anyone who cuts my hair that the sides of my head are very bare compared the other areas. I voiced this as a concern in my last email to the doc. I was hoping he would contact me to discuss this. No contact what so ever. My concern again was that the procedure would again be unsuccessful which in turn would disfigure my donor area even more. Truthfully I could go on and on about how disappointed I am. After one failed surgery its very difficult to pony up and jump back in the chair. His offer for a free surgery isn't really "free". I've got to close my dental office for at least 1.5-2 weeks as im not going to see patients in the post opp beautiful form we are in. My family has to deal with me in the "waiting period". And my anxiety focused on if I made the right decision after the first failed procedure is the kicker. In the end I really would just like my money back. Hands down. I truthfully believe that would be the honorable thing to do on his end. I'm very happy for all those that have had a great outcome by him but those of us that havent have to deal with it. It should be my decision on if I want to have the procedure done by him again. I see patients all this time that tell me their other dentist messed their tooth up and they never want to see he or she again. Well...I dont really want to see Dr.Feriduni again either. I dont feel comfortable. Hell his tecs did all the extractions and insertions of all the follicles. He made the incisions and numbed me up but other then that he wasnt there for much of the procedure. He would check in from time to time but honestly he as pretty absent. You be the judge. You can find my first thread with the pro opp pics by just typing in DrFeriduni. Im not going to reattach the old pics. Really no need as its not hard to see my result are sub par. Attached a few of my donor area too. I could attach every single conversation he and I had after surgery that would go through his thoughts. He did believe I had success. His estimates were around 50-60 percent success.Ive enclosed his pic which shows the success. The point of this email isnt to attack the doc or anything like that. From my research he did seem to be an outstanding doctor with on average a good result. I unfortunately just fell on the wrong side. Ill finish with that.
  17. Thanks. I have seen excellent recommendations from other surgeons for Dr. Feriduni on here from US surgeons (Feller and Bloxham for example) as well as in other forums. Dr. Devroye is a bit strange. The results I have seen are good though! Hence the consultations. Thanks again!
  18. I had a fail HT w Dr.Feriduni. You can find my thread on here. 3 months is obviously early but in all fairness just send an email to the clinic to keep tabs. I'm actually about to do another write up as it's been a few years and still my result is very sub par
  19. As many have hinted, there is no reason to be concerned about your status after the early 3 months. I was also with Dr. Feriduni. Here are a few pictures of the status after 3 months, 4 months and 7 months.
  20. FUE performed on a 32 year old Caucasian male with: - Norwood Type II-III Class N/T - Donor density of 80 FU/cm2 in the temporal region and 96 FU/cm2 in the occipital region - Hair diameter of ~55-60 µm Treatment plan: A Follicular Unit Extraction with 2400-2800 FU to reconstruct the entire hairline and the temporal recessions. Performed procedure (July 7th, 2015): A Follicular Unit Extraction procedure with 2626 FU: - 246 single hair FU - 1886 double hair FU - 494 triple hair FU Extraction performed with a 0.80mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.85mm) Dr. Bijan Feriduni
  21. Agree with what has been said, 1,800 will not be nearly enough and that amount is only good for beefing up the immediate hairline area for example as a reference of what 1,800 grafts could be used for. Also the crown is often referred to as black hole as it eats up a ton of grafts to do it right, including recreating the natural swirl. Dr. Wong and Dr. Feriduni excel at the crown so maybe consult with them for how many grafts would be required to do it right. Also boosting up the front and midscalp area and then growing it long would help with the frontal framing of your face (can't see the front in your pics) and also help conceal some of the crown area at the same time. And I agree a combo of FUE/SMP could be a way to address the area without using up too many grafts. However at the very least though the midscalp will need to be addressed due to the large balding area
  22. I've narrowed my FUE down to these two Drs. (yes I know about Dr. Lorenzo, amazing yield, not my type of hairlines per se). I am a NW3v I gues with hair that looks better than it actually is (a good thing).most FUE Drs. agree 2500 to rebuild strong hariline from forelock, temple points, and then 1000-1500 to do zones 3-5. It is hard to not like anything about Dr.Feridun; great yield, super soft and natural hairlines, apparentely impeccable patient interaction and clinic, and so far have not seen one subpar result or heard one negative comment about him, his staff or his clinic. On the other hand I have yet to see a 4k or 4k+ FUE from him. Dr. Edrogan on the other hand seems to specialize in 4k-4.5k FUES with what appear tobe astonishing results (yeah I've seen the wet vs dry not such a concern for me). Does anyone have any concrete fedback on Dr. Edrogan, especially negative? I pretty much know I'll get a good result from Dr. Feriduni, yet probably capped out at under 4k. On the other hand my chances of a home run result seem to be with Dr. Edrogan. Since he is somewhat of an unknown to me that also means a chance of a bad result. So (other than wet v dry pic complaints) does anyone have any useful information on things to be concerned about, or would you think I could safely book at 4700 graft HT with him (his analysis for a 'perfect result') and expect excellent results? One minor plus is that he will be 5000 Euro LESS for 700 more grafts.
  23. Hi jbl2093, Thanks for the questions. I'll need to confirm a few with Rahal. But answer the ones I know. First, I get it man. You're angry at your result. I don't know the specifics. But based on your experience... years ago... you feel that Rahal is not consistent. When that's simply not true. Your situation, which shity, is not the norm. Without knowing the specifics, I can 100% guarantee Rahal did the right thing. Be it refund, touch-up, whatever. That's who he is - ethical. Dr. Rahal stands behind all of his patients. Maybe he's too humble to say it. But I will. And for you to imply anything else is wrong. I'm going to post hundreds of A+ FUE results soon - including my own. As with anything, results are what count. And i'll back what I say with results. Now, you're questions: Some good ones. Looks like you might have been mislead. Most of the info you stated is not true. Some of your questions I can answer with exciting advancements. There is no turnover. I know the team, personally. Most have been there 10+ years. Others 20+ years. There are only a few less than 2 years. And I think another (maybe two) less than 6 months - though they are in training. So you're 100% wrong about this. Great question! There are 3 any clinic should measure. 1) Total, 2) Partial, 3) Tissue. There is some debate in the FUE community that "partial" is OK. Even a skill which sets the pros from amateurs. Some also say that it's OK to leave a 1-hair (for example) so the donor area does not look thin. As for Rahal's partial, it's under 3% - and measured "every case." It's also used to decide on the type of punch used during the case. If the patients skill is tough and partial transection is 4% for example - they will switch. Total and tissue are even less. Less than strip actually. I don't know the #'s. But i'll get for you. And the #'s are not out of my ass. I'll ask Patient Care to pull some charts over the last year. Data is data - and #'s don't lie. One thing I should point out here is 1) Rahal uses 8x magnification for extraction - the highest in North America. Awesome question. A combination of "HypoThermosol and Adenosine Tri-Phosphate." The solution "per procedure" is around $800. A big investment other clinics don't. It's the same solution they use preserve organs for transplants. Have you heard of coverage value? More here Dr. Rahal uses for every case. It was Dr. Lorenzo who created and shared. And prevents what you're talking about it. I'm not sure if it was used 3 years ago, as in your case. But it's standard now. And prevents what you're saying. Not true. There are two FUE extractions: Miguel and Dr. Gibbons, Dr. Rahal. Dr. Rahal decides on the punch to use, depth, etc. Starts the extractions, then monitors transection real-time. He also does all the incision, hairline design, etc. So he does majority of the case. Dr. Gibbons also does extractions. But I don't really care who does them. I care about transection, plus experience. And you should too. Since we are talking technical... Dr. Rahal uses the smallest punches in North America. Most are .8. He also uses the highest magnification in North America. Plus uses sharp or WOW, depending on needs. KEEP for implanting - basically EVERYTHING you need to perform A+ FUE. On top of that... he shares tips and travels to Turkey, spending time. Koray, Feriduni, Lorenzo all of the time. What I'm getting at is... you're procedure was years ago. Things have changed. How about this... You have some great questions. How about visiting Rahal and seeing for yourself.
  24. p.s. I've seen great results from Koray, Feriduni, Lorenzo, Lupanzula, too. p.p.s. Dr. Rahal and Koray, Feriduni, Lorenzo, Lupanzula share FUE tips all the time. If you're comparing Rahal's FUE years ago to now... you need to learn how technically the procedure has advanced. Donor management... punch size... magnification... keep... wow... sharp... dull. Let's talk technical. Lets have a debate. But let's also stick to the facts. p.p.p.s no shills allowed
  25. Follicular Unit Transplantation performed on a 39 year old Caucasian male with: - Ludwig I-II - Donor density of 78 FU/cm2 in the temporal region and 72 FU/cm2 in the occipital region - Hair diameter of ~56-62 microns Treatment plan: A Follicular Unit Extraction with 1600 FU to add to density to the bridge area and to reconstruct the crown area. The patient also suffered from thinning in the central core but the density in this area was still too high to be treated. Performed procedure (July 11th, 2015): A Follicular Unit Extraction with 1877 FU in a single day session * 56 single hair FU * 740 double hair FU * 781 triple hair FU Extraction performed with a 0.85mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.8mm – 0.9mm) Dr. B. Feriduni
