  1. I finally did it. After lurking around here for ages, gathering lots of information on procedures and doctors, I went for the FUT HT with Dr. Farjo a few weeks back. First, thanks to all of you for the excellent information here in the forums. It really helped me out, so glad this forum exists. After a few online consultations, it came down to Dr. Wong and Dr. Farjo. Everybody here knows Wong, the man is a Jedi, but Farjo... not so much info. So off to Manchester I went for a visit. Mick welcomed me in, gave me the tour, and chatted with me about HT in an honest and straight forward manner. Dr. Farjo came a bit later, and also made a good impression, straight and honest. He graciously pointed out that I have a very large head... yes I'm aware! ... and figured we should be able to get "3000, maybe even 4000 grafts" from an FUT procedure. In line with the other consults I'd had. So for various reasons, in the end I chose the Farjo Clinic. Much easier logistics, and a weak Pound, but above all a doctor that knew his shit and left me without any doubts. His website is the same, straight forward and full of the same sort of honest information that I found here in the forums. It was a long day, 7:30am at the clinic, 8:30 in the chair and we were off. All the staff were extremely pleasant, everything went according to plan, I finally left the clinic at 7:30pm with a terrible hat on my head  and found a pizza joint on the way home. What a long day... Stats: 4085 Grafts 572 singles 2431 doubles 1082 triples and quads It was a relief to have the staples removed yesterday, seriously annoying those things. While waiting for my head to heal a bit, I wore a GWinner Unisex Bandana Dryline when out, available at Amazon (of course) and highly recommend it. Now the waiting begins.. I will keep this thread updated.
  2. Dr. Farjo doing his bit in the 'Four Countries Cycling Challenge', cycling 270 miles over four days from Dover to Amsterdam. P.S. does anyone recognise the girl on the left?
  3. The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, ISHRS, USA, is well known for its endeavours to promote education in Hair Transplant. Continuing with the same, the ISHRS recently organised a hair transplant workshop in Manchester, UK from 10-12th June 2016. The workshop was hosted by the stalwart in the Hair Transplant field, Dr. Bessam Farjo. It was well attended by over 50 delegates and 12 faculties. Click on this link to read full post : https://akclinics.org/blog/news-and-events/ishrs-european-ht-workshop-manchester-united-kingdom-june-2016/
  4. I disagree that he's too young for a hair transplant. At 28 years old (assuming the year of birth posted on his profile is accurate), getting a hair transplant may just be appropriate depending on other factors. I had my first hair transplant at 28 and though I needed a lot of grafts and it took many years to reach my goals, I'm still very happy with my results 8 years after my last procedure. Prettyboy, I'm not familiar with the clinic "Transform", but if you're in the UK, we recommend some outstanding surgeons who have a long, proven track record of producing outstanding results. This includes Dr. Bessam Farjo and Dr. Radhu Reddy. I encourage you to click on their profiles to learn more and to see examples of their results. You are also encouraged to use the "search" feature of this forum to view other real patient results presented on this forum. Best wishes, Bill
  5. Recently I visited several hair transplant clinics in Europe that I believed were potentially on pare with the very best clinics in North America. I'm glad to report that some of these European clinics lived up to my best hopes. In short, hair loss sufferers in the UK and Continental Europe, in my opinion, do not need to fly to North America to get truly world class ultra refined hair transplant results. Prior to my trip to Europe I did extensive research on hair transplant clinics throughout Europe. Many clinics were immediately scratched off the list of clinics worth considering or visiting based on their use of outdated techniques and poor patient results. Over the years I have had the benefit of corresponding with many European patients who shared their experiences. These first hand accounts were valuable in identifying those clinics who provided consistently good results. In general the European patient based discussion forums tended to have a negative opinion of hair transplant clinics and physicians in Spain, Italy, France and Germany, while many patients on these forums suggested traveling to Belgium or the UK to get state of the art hair transplantation. These forums are listed below as resources for those based in Europe who speak Spanish, German, Dutch and French. Haarweb: Dutch speaking web forum focused entirely on hair transplantation. Alopezie: German language forum about hair transplantation Doctissimo: French speaking forum about hair loss and hair transplantation. Stop Hair Loss Now - This English language site/forum is UK based. Spanish language Hair Loss Information website http://www.recuperarelpelo.com Based on my research, I tend to agree that Belgium and the UK seem to have the best hair transplant clinics in Europe, some of which are on pare with the leading clinics in North America. I'm also impressed by the work and technique of the Transmed clinic based in Istanbul, Turkey. To see their website, click here . However, I did not have the opportunity to visit this clinic on this trip. However, no person or group of people can have perfect or definitive information about the quality of work being done at all clinics throughout Europe. Thus while I did not find any clinics in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Austria, etc. that appeared compelling enough to merit a visit, it is possible that I might not be aware of such clinics. Thus I chose to visit the following clinics which I thought looked most promising in Europe: Dr. Jean DeVroye ??“ Brussels, Belgium Dr. Bijan Feriduni ??“ Hasselt, Belgium Pro Hair Clinic in Belgium Note ??“ Dr. Bisanga, with the BHR clinic in Brussels, looked impressive. However, he was in the USA during my visit and thus not available to let me observe his surgery. Farjo Medical Centre in Manchester, England (Physicians Drs. Bessam and Nilofer Farjo) Rogers clinic in London (physicians ??“ Dr. Rogers and Dr. Stevenson) Highlights from Pat's Visit to Leading Clinics in Belgium: Based upon the impressive work that I witnessed in Belgium, this small country in particular appears to be a hotbed of world class hair transplantation. Brussels is centrally located and easy to access, which is perhaps one of the reasons that Brussels is the capitol city of European Union as well as NATO. The world class work that I see being done in Belgium is so compelling that I recommend that Germans, French, Spanish and other Europeans strongly consider traveling to Belgium to get world class hair transplant services. The Belgians, in particular the Flemish people outside of Brussels, are also very multi lingual with many of them speaking English, French and German in addition to Flemish. Visit to Dr. Jean DeVroye's hair transplant clinic in Brussels, Belgium I have known Dr. DeVroye for several years. In fact we both attended our first hair conference in Paris ten years ago ??“ me as a show case patient of Dr. Ron Shapiro and Dr. DeVroye as physician who was aspiring to become a great hair transplant surgeon. We'll after ten years of hard work and dedication; I believe that Dr. DeVroye has succeeded. He has really paid his dues over the years ??“ observing and working extensively with leading hair transplant surgeons in North America, attending international hair restoration meetings and more recently becoming an important contributor and teacher in his own right. Having seen him perform surgery and discussed the finer details of his surgery I believe that Dr. DeVroye is both an artist and a skilled hair transplant surgeon. He strives for perfection and it shows in his staff, the procedure and in the final patient results. His procedure is one of the most minimally invasive, refined and clean procedures that I have every seen. His staff also seems to share his enthusiasm and commitment to excellence. They work together as a team harmoniously and their all microscopic graft cutting and placing are second to none in my opinion. I had the honor of watching three of Dr. DeVroye's ultra refined follicular unit procedures over three days and I was very impressed at all stages of the procedure. It simply doesn't get any better any where. Dr. DeVroye has been recommended on the Hair Transplant Network (see his profile ) for the past few years. But after seeing the level of he and his staff's work I think he should be considered for membership in the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Frankly, I think he has really earned a place amongst the best of the best. To see photos of these procedures and to read my highlights, click here . His website also provides a wealth of great information in multiple languages, including immediate post op photos and examples of his trichophytic closure. Visit to Dr. Bijan Ferduni hair transplant clinic in Hasselt, Belgium After having spent the last ten years searching for the very best hair transplant physicians, it's rare to discover an outstanding physician who is not on our community. When it happens it's as exciting as finding a giant gem after digging through rocks for days. That excitement is what I felt after watching Dr. Feriduni and his staff perform truly refined follicular unit grafting. Their attention to detail, donor closure, microscopic graft cutting and graft placing were all excellent. His trichophytic closure technique was one of the most refined that I've ever seen. Dr. Feriduni offers his patients both ultra refined follicular unit grafting and follicular unit extraction (FUE), with many of his FUE cases exceeding 1,000 grafts in one day. Dr. Feriduni provides free and very personable consultations in English, French, German and Flemmish. I look forward to making more information available about Dr. Feriduni and his outstanding clinic. To see highlights from my visit to his clinic, click here . Visit to the ProHair FUE hair transplant clinic in Mechelen, Belgium In May of 2007 at the ESHRS meeting in Paris Dr. Ilter announced to his colleagues that he was regularly performing FUE mega sessions of up to 3,000 grafts per day with follicle transaction rates that he believes are under 1 percent, while using punches that are as small as 0.6mm. Such claims certainly raised some eyebrows and skepticism among many of his colleagues. Dr. Ilter responded by inviting his physician colleagues to visit him at either the Pro Hair Clinic in Belgium or the Ilter clinic in Stockholm, Sweden to watch him do it. Bart, who posts on our forum as "Bverotti" and who works as a patient consultant for the Pro Hair Clinic, also announced this claim on this and other discussion forums. He was also met with skepticism. Bart extended an invitation to me to visit the Pro Hair Clinic to see for myself. Having watched FUE be born and heavily oversold on the Internet years ago, I've always been skeptical of its value given its relative high cost, shaving of the entire donor area, small session sizes and potential for follicle transaction and damage. However, if most of these limitations were over come I'd be the first to want to see it for myself. If FUE could indeed be done in mega sessions with minimal follicle transaction and cosmetically undetectable scars due to the tiny 0.6 and 0.7mm punches then this would make the procedure much more viable and appealing. So I did visit the Pro Hair Clinic during my time in Belgium. Unfortunately, the surgery that was scheduled during the day of my visit was canceled unexpectedly by the patient. I would have really liked to stand by and watch them do a 1,500 plus graft session in one day. However, I did have an opportunity to meet with Bart and visit the Pro Hair Clinic. Bart is a true believer in FUE mega sessions and had FUE surgery with Dr. Jones in Toronto and more recently he did a one day FUE session of 1,850 grafts with Dr. Ilter. I enjoyed meeting with Bart and found him to have a genuine enthusiasm for the big session FUE surgeries. When he showed me the 0.6 and 0.7mm punches that they use I was amazed at how small they were. To see photos of these punches and the clinic, click here. Hard to imagine that such tiny punches could successfully extract one hair follicles let alone two and three hair ones with transaction rates of less than one percent. But Bart claims that the physicians, who do FUE all day every day, develop the ability to feel their way around the follicle as they rotate the punch down and around the follicles. While Dr. Ilter does on occasion perform surgery at the Pro Hair Clinic in Belgium, he primarily does the majority of his surgeries at his Ilter Clinic in Stockholm, Sweden. The majority of FUE surgeries performed at the Pro Hair Clinic are performed by Dr. DeReys, who was trained by Dr. Ilter. While I will remain skeptical until I see more evidence of the success of such FUE mega sessions I will keep an open mind. After all, I remember when most physicians resisted the early strip mega sessions that were 1,500 grafts ??“ claiming that the scalp could not support such giant sessions and that such tiny grafts could not possibly create density. Dr. Bill Rassman's response to such nay saying is a classic ??“ "Those who say it can't be done should not stand in the way of those who are doing it everyday." FUE mega sessions? Have they really arrived? I expect we will all know much more in the months to come. Highlights from Pat's Visit to Leading Clinics in the United Kingdom: Over the years the UK has earned a reputation online for generally providing outdated, sub pare and even harmful hair transplant results. Most of the UK hair transplant clinics in my opinion simply provide sub pare techniques and results. However, I believe there are two clinics in the UK that are heads and shoulders above the rest of the UK clinics. I chose to visit these two, while the other clinics in my opinion and in the opinion of many others were not worth visiting. These two UK based clinics are the Roger's clinic and the Farjo Medical Centre. Visit to the Farjo Medical Centre in Manchester, England After watching Dr. Bessam Farjo and his wife Dr. Nilofer Farjo and their staff in action over two days and two impressive ultra refined surgeries, I was very pleased to see that they have successfully incorporated all of the most important recent advances in hair restoration into their clinic and procedure. All of their grafts are carefully trimmed under microscopes, with Dr. Nilofer Farjo closely supervising the medical technicians, while cutting and placing grafts herself. Both Bessam and Nilofer also create all the carefully oriented and minimally invasive graft incisions using custom cut blades that are as small as 0.7mm. Their use of small incisions enables their patients to achieve greater density in a single session, while experiencing quicker healing. They take a team approach to the surgery with all hands on deck and working well together. Given the size and skill of the team the clinic can perform large sessions in excess of 3,000 grafts when appropriate for the patient. They typically limit themselves to one patient a day to achieve an optimal level of care. Their donor strip removal and trichophytic closure are also very state of the art with care taken to minimize any follicle transaction or scarring in the donor area. In short, in my opinion, the quality of care and service being provided by the Farjo clinic is on pare with leading clinics in North America. To view highlights from the two days that I observed surgery at the Farjo Medical Centre, click here . Visit to the Rogers Clinic in London and Stratford-Upon-Avon Recently in reading the UK based hair loss forum, Stop Hair Loss Now, I was impressed by how forth right Dr. Rogers was in responding to the concerns of UK patients and hair loss suffers. His willingness to engage in open dialog on this forum and be publicly accountable for his patient results, as well as share his own recent hair transplant experience online has earned him a degree of respect with the members of this forum and with me. After speaking with Dr. Rogers by telephone and learning that he was adopting leading edge refinements such as using tiny custom cut blades as small as 0.8mm and moving toward bigger high density sessions, I decided to visit his clinic and observe him and his lovely associate, Dr. Alexandra Stevenson, performing surgery. After learning that Dr. Rogers was moving toward adopting leading edge refinements such as using tiny custom cut blades as small as 0.8mm and moving toward bigger high density sessions, I decided to visit his clinic and observe him and his lovely associate, Dr. Alexandra Stevenson, performing surgery. After visiting with them over two days, my impression of Dr. Rogers, Dr. Stevenson and their staff is that they are ethical and striving to do quality work for their patients. Dr. Rogers is well aware of the ultra refined surgical techniques being used by the leading hair transplant clinics in North America and has made progress in recent years in implementing some of these evolutions in technique, including smaller and less invasive incisions. Dr. Rogers and Dr. Stevenson also take great care in how they remove the donor tissue and they do a double layer trichophytic closure. However, they are still not doing all microscopic dissection. They do use microscopes for trimming the donor strip into smaller sections (a process referred to as "slivering") and for some of the grafts. Yet most of the techs are only using back lighting with eye loops or no loops at all. In my opinion, based on observation, published studies and input from dozens of leading physicians, all microscopic graft dissection is important if a clinic is going to successfully perform ultra refined follicular unit grafting with optimal results. I hope that they will adopt all microscopic dissection in the coming months. If they do, I think that their procedure has the potential to be world class. Dr. Roger's has over ten years experience in performing hair transplantation and performs sessions of up to 3,000 all follicular unit grafts. Dr. Stevenson has been doing hair transplantation for over two years and learned her techniques from Dr. Rogers. While the quality of her work is very high, her session sizes are typically limited to around 1,500 grafts. In my opinion, if she aspires to be competitive online on a world wide playing field she will need to move beyond her comfort zone and perform bigger sessions when appropriate for her patients. In general I believe that the Rogers Clinic and its committed staff are doing vastly better hair transplantation than other hair transplant clinics in the UK, with the exception of the Farjo Clinic. I expect that they will in time rise to the challenge of doing all microscopic dissection in the coming months. I look forward to monitoring their progress and patient reports and in time recommending them on our community once they meet our high standards (To view our standards for recommendation, visit http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Consult-a-Physicia...tion-physicians.asp). To view highlights and photos from my two day visit, click here . Hair Transplant Clinics in Ireland Dr. Maurice Collins - Dublin I visited Dr. Maurice Collins' clinic in Dublin about two years ago when he was in the early stages of establishing his hair restoration clinic at the Black Rock Clinic. Previously Dr. Collins had been very diligent in attending all the major hair transplant conferences and visiting leading clinics to learn about the optimal procedures and techniques. Dr. Collins spared no expense in setting up a state of the art facility with a quality staff. While his procedure looked solid and physicians visiting more recently have spoken highly of his procedure, I find that his prices are very high - as much as 20,000 euros ($28,000) for a 2,000 graft session. He also charges 250 euros for his consultations. Given such high prices I could not in good conscious recommend his clinic. Dr. Conor Kiely - Cork I met Dr. Kiely at some of the international hair transplant meetings in recent years. He impressed me as having a genuine interest in learning about the best hair transplant techniques and procedures. He also invested time in visiting with some of the leading hair transplant surgeons in North America, including Dr. Ron Shapiro and Dr. David Seager. Judging from his website he appears to be performing state of the art follicular unit hair transplantation. But I have gotten very little feedback from his patients. However, I had made travel arrangements and booked flights to observe his surgery at his clinic in Cork, Ireland. Unfortunately, he experienced a family emergency and was not available on the day I was to visit. If any patients of his would care to share their experiences on this forum or with me by email I encourage them to do so.
  6. I have just had a hair transplant two weeks ago performed by Dr Bessam Farjo of the Farjo medical centre in Manchester. I have been suffering hair loss for quite some years now but by stabilising it with meds over the lat few years i thought it was finely time to go for a ht as iam in my forties and been unhappy with my hair for quite some time. I did over a year of research contemplating clinics in the USA and Turkey but decided to stay here in he UK and came to the conclusion that Dr farjo was the man for me. After meeting the liaison manager mick and Dr Farjo at the consulttion i knew i had made the right decision to gt it done here in the UK.They were very informative proffessional and not salesman like at all which i liked. So ht day 6 April there i was at the Farjo clinic after having a nice relaxing night in a hotel close to the clinic (which they arranged for me).I met Dr Farjo and was told what would happen tat day,he checked by BP and then gave me a mild sedative to relax me.I was then ushered to the surgery room which as immaculately clean and state of the art.Dr Farjo drew my hairline and showed me where he was putting the grafts crown, vertex, temples.the it was time to move the donor strip,he injected the donor area with the anaeshetic a few needle pricks but relativel painless, then began to remove the strip which i never felt a thing and stapled me up.It was time to make the incisions for the grafts to be planted (again no pain felt during this). Then came the planting of the grafts which was done by Nilofer Farjo and there team (so basically your getting two transplant surgeons for the price of one). 2087 grafts were placed which was more than the 1700 i paid for. 301 1 hair 1497 2 hair 286 3-4 hair. All the medical staff were attentive all the way through the procedure offering me drinks snacks a nice lunch and a choice of dvds to watch.Overall the procedure was comfortable painless and quite relaxing. After the procedue i was issued with a aftercare pack containing post-op aftercare instructions medication and shampoo. The whole day i felt cared for and in positive hands of people who no what they are doing and putting there patients first.I would recommend anybody looking into getting a ht to highly consider Dr Farjo and his team. I would like to say a special thankyou to Dr Farjo,Mick and the whole team for looking after me. Now its just the waiting game:(
  7. HT doctors don't really have the knowledge to research and develop a cure. The overwhelming majority of HT doctors don't even have basic hair follicle biology knowledge. Dr. Bessam Farjo has recently started something called HairClone, HairClone | Working to make hair loss history Although it's nothing concrete, they are mostly talking about what "might be possible". Keep your eyes out on Kyocera & Riken & Organ Technologies. Way more exciting. They are aiming for human clinical trials very soon. Here is a interview with them which is primarily about the scientific aspect of their endeavor but also covers commercial aspects; If they manage to culture these cells properly without losing their signature expression they will most likely succeed. Observations heavily support their approach. Think of Jahoda his experiment with DS cells and the unique properties of the hair follicle in terms of regeneration & plasticity. So hair cloning is realistically possible in the near future. My prediction is that it will also eventually translate to (full) automatization. Meaning that human hands will simply be replaced. They also talk about that in the interview. That will be a huge threat to doctors, not the hair cloning per se.
  8. Welcome! In the UK we recommend the following hair transplant surgeons. Dr. Bessam Farjo Dr. Raghu Reddy You can view our recommendation criteria here.
  9. This patient was in his mid 40’s when he had surgery a few years ago. His aim was to improve things at the front and top with no real interest in the crown. His hair density was below average at 1.7 and we transferred 2816 follicular units to the front and top. He is very happy with his result and recently returned to have work in his crown which his wife was instrumental in him doing as she was so pleased with the front.
  10. Charlie, Welcome! Yes, hair transplant surgery can be used to lower a naturally high hairline. However, whether or not this is a good idea in your specific case will depend on a number of factors like your age, where your hairline is now, where you want it placed and your potential for future hair loss. As you may know, we have a finite number of donor hairs to draw from. If your family history indicates that you may experience hair loss in the future, then creating a juvenile hairline now would not be a good idea. You could run out of donor hair for future procedures and be left with an unnatural appearance. To provide useful feedback we would need to see a photo of your current hairline and details about any existing hair loss and family history of balding. Your best bet is to consult with one or more recommended physicians. In England we recommend the following hair transplant surgeons: Dr. Bessam Farjo Dr. Raghu Reddy
  11. Hello, I'm a new member and had 3500 FUT with Farjo in Manchester. I had a consultation and a WEEK later the op, I was given a good price due to someone else cancelling. I did some research but not too much as it was boring! Farjo has a very good reputation, could not find bad reviews of him. It all went well and now I must wait and wait! It's the waiting which is hard and all kinds of things go through my mind. I hope it works out for me and everyone else who goes through a HT. Finally, it really is less painful that being seen to by a dentist!
  12. Hi, fellow follicly frustrated friends New member here. I've spent much time reading these forums, but still have questions about hair transplants. I've decided to go for two FUE procedures. I think I have good hair density in the back and sides (see pictures). I'm of same age (37) and have similar hair as Thor Hushovd (see pictures). He's a famous Norwegian bicyclist, who's open about his two hair transplants (1800 follicles in 2011 and 2013). I've tried to find more details, but only know he got them in England. Dr. Lorenzo and others, which many here speak highly of, afaik use the same straight hairline on their patients. Thor got that natural looking receeding/aging hairline, which is the hairline I use to have/want. I've seen some people here criticize the overall quality of English clinics, but Thor's hair transplants look excellent to me. I have some questions, and would appreciate any help/advice: 1: Is there a danger of implanting hair follicles into dormant hairs in the transplant area (I have diffused thinning)? Wouldn't this lead to additional hairloss/destroyed hair follicles? 2: Is the "Ultra Refined Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation" surgeon list at hairtransplantnetwork.com complete/up to date? I see two English surgeons on it (Bessam Farjo and Raghu Reddy), probably Thor used one of these two? Any better alternatives that can offer the kind of hairline/transplant I want? 3: Do the URFUE surgeons use the finest hair follicles in front of the hairline, and create natural imperfections? I don't want a hairline that's too smooth/perfect with stark dual/triple follicles. 4: Should I ask the surgeon about punch size? As I understand 0.75 mm punch is the latest/best option? I have light/pale skin, and want as little scarring/redness as possible. Before learning about Thor Hushovd, I had given up on my hair - didn't know hair transplants could look this good! I don't know if he has diffusing thinning in the top/back as I have, but he certainly had more frontal hairloss at 33 (when he got his first transplant). Thanks in advance for any advice/info! Best regards, Mike
  13. Each year, the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons (ISHRS) recognizes "the best and the brightest" of the hair restoration world by presenting the Platinum Follicle award to a talented, innovative hair transplant surgeon at their annual meeting. This year, we're proud to announce that Coalition hair transplant surgeons Dr. Bessam and Nilofer Farjo received the Platinum Follicle award at the 2012 ISHRS Meeting in the Bahamas. As I'm sure we're all aware, Drs. Bessam and Nilofer Farjo have been an integral part of our community for a number of years, and the excellent hair restoration cases and advice they share daily on the forums helps demonstrate why they were chosen for this coveted award. To review the announcement, please see the following: Coalition Hair Transplant Surgeons Dr. Bessam and Nilofer Farjo Receive the Platinum Follicle Award at the 2012 ISHRS Meeting. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Bessam Farjo and Dr. Nilofer Farjo!
  14. Dear Forum Members, As many of you know, we gather as much information as possible about a physician, their staff, technique and track record before they are even considered for recommendation on the Hair Transplant Network. Part of our review process involves getting input from patients and the members of this forum community. To learn more about this review process, click here. We would appreciate your input regarding the potential recommendation of Dr. Jose Lorenzo of the United Kingdom, formerly Spain. At this time, Dr. Lorenzo is only being considered for recommendation, not the Coalition. To see our standards for recommendation, click here. However, given his dedication to ultra refined follicular unit extraction, in time, I believe we should consider him for the Coalition. Dr. Jose Lorenzo has recently teamed up with Coalition members Drs. Bessam and Nilofer Farjo to provide advanced FUE at their new joint clinic. For the official announcement, click here. Dr. Lorenzo has already established a stellar reputation online for producing world class FUE results. He has over 10 years of experience, performs exclusive FUE hair transplantation and operates on only 1 or 2 patients per day depending on the size of the session. Dr. Lorenzo transplants over 2000 grafts in a single day and dense packs up to 70 FU/cm2 when appropriate for the patient. Dr. Jose Lorenzo uses a manual punch via the standard Versi Handle ranging from .65mm to 1.0mm in diameter depending on the size of the graft. This enables him to reduce trauma and resultant scarring to the skin. Dr. Lorenzo feels that manual FUE extraction provides him with better control, reducing follicular transection and increasing the number of viable grafts for transplanting. He also employs the "stick and place" technique using the "Lion Implanter" he helped to design. Dr. Jose Lorenzo believes FUE donor harvesting can now achieve the same coverage and number of follicular units as follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS) with reduced scarring to the donor area. In Dr. Lorenzo's opinion and experience, anyone who is a candidate for FUT via strip harvesting is also a candidate for FUE. Dr. Lorenzo is a member of the ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) and is a part of the FUE Science Committee. The FUE Committee was created by the ISHRS at the 2012 Annual ISHRS Scientific Meeting with the purpose of improving FUE hair transplants through scientific research and education. Given Dr. Jose Lorenzo's experience and commitment to high quality follicular unit hair transplantation via FUE, I believe that he should be considered for recommendation. See our standards for recommendation. At this time, only 3 examples of Dr. Lorenzo's impressive results have been presented on our forum. However, given dozens of impressive examples of his results all over the web and the excitement we've seen from patient and physician members of our community about his potential recommendation, I think we should consider him for recommendation without further delay. View some of his patient and surgical photos below: 5254 Grafts in 2 Sessions via FUE with Dr. Lorenzo 5035 Grafts in 2 Sessions via FUE with Dr. Lorenzo 5591 Grafts in 2 Sessions via FUE with Dr. Lorenzo From YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8z6dFzG428 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az4rlpGVuBM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLBuwi3U61Q'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLBuwi3U61Q'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLBuwi3U61Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLBuwi3U61Q More of Dr. Lorenzo's results can be found on YouTube and Mick will be presenting more examples of his results in the coming days. I welcome input and comments from forum members regarding his potential recommendation.
  15. sammalone, In the UK we recommend Dr. Bessam Farjo in Manchester and Dr. Raghu Reddy in London. If you wish to search farther afield, check out our interactive map. You can view our criteria for recommending physicians here.
  16. This past holiday season, Dr. Farjo was interviewed by The Times of India for a lifestyle piece on hair loss and hair restoration. In this interview, Dr. Farjo also discusses his role in developing exciting new hair multiplication techniques. For more on this article, including a link to the full interview, view Hair Transplant Surgeon Dr. Bessam Farjo Interviewed by The Times of India on our popular Hair Loss Q&A Blog. As always, you are encouraged to add your comments or questions to this discussion.
  17. Welcome Joy! These are excellent questions. When it comes to hair transplant surgery in general, men are more often better candidates than women due to their typical balding patterns. Male hair loss patterns are described by the Norwood Scale while typical female patterns are described on the Ludwig Scale. When hair loss is diffuse and affects the "permanent zone" at the rear and sides of the head, surgical hair restoration is typically not a good option. However, some women may lose hair mostly in the front as you have described and may be good candidates for surgery. The best way to find out is to consult with a skilled and experienced hair transplant surgeon. When it comes to African hair in particular, there are other considerations. Follicular unit extraction (FUE) can be tricky with African hair due to the curl of the follicle. When follicles curl below the skin, it is difficult to effectively harvest them with a punch without transecting and killing the graft. Recently, Dr. Mike Vories started an interesting discussion regarding these difficulties that includes some nice images of extracted grafts. You can read this discussion here, FUE with African American Hair. In London we currently recommend two hair restoration clinics. I've provided their contact information here for your convenience. If you'd like to consider options outside of the UK as well, simply access our interactive map. Dr. Bessam Farjo Dr. Raghu Reddy
  18. I agree with Future and BUSA. I assume you are considering FUE, and if you decide to go to Turkey Dr. Koray Erdogan (ASMED MANUAL FUE) and Dr. Hakan Doganay (AHD CLİNİC) are both one of the best and recommended FUE doctors here. Dr. Kyriakos Maras’ HDC Clinic, but located in Cyprus (Greek part), is also a good option for you. He is also one of the best FUE surgeons. You can easily contact with Alex, who is a representative of him in the forum. I think there are not many choices in USA for FUE, mostly they do FUT or FUE for NW 1-2 hair loss. To the best of my understanding they provide both FUE and FUT operations for their patients, but I am still not sure about their selection criteria. Anyway, I have seen Dr. Rahal (LMC HT INSTITUTE) from Canada also providing FUE now. You can find many good FUE surgeons in Europa. Mostly located in Belgium, Dr. Bijan Feriduni (my favorite) also, Patrick Mwamba and Christian Bisanga provides high quality FUE. These are all recommended doctors. In UK, Dr. Raghu Reddy is the best in my opinion. You should also consider Dr. Bessam Farjo (Farjo Clinic)[/B], but not sure if they provide FUE as well. Top quality FUE star is Dr. Jose Lorenzo from Spain but I have just noticed he has not been a recommended doctor anymore; I do not know or understand the reasons for that. Anyway, you should also consider him. His students may offer lower pricing with the same quality of work, so ask them too. If you choose them or Lorenzo, you will have the privilege of implantation done by doctors using pen pushing. For all the others mentioned, implantations are done by technicians as well; extraction of FUE grafts sometimes is done by technicians sometimes by doctors. Good luck and all the best to you. I also recommend to do some research here: Hair Transplant Network - Find Hair Transplant Clinics and Doctors, do not forget all coalition and recommended docs. here have passed many quality tests.

  23. Hello all good people! Could please give me a comparison of the leading hair transplant surgeons in Europe, namely Dr. Bijan Feriduni (Belgium), Dr. Jean Devroye (Belgium), Dr. Patrick Mwamba (Belgium), Dr. Christian Bisanga (Belgium) and Dr. Bessam Farjo(England) ? It will be too expensive for me to travel to North America. I think I will go for transplant by one of these reputed surgeons in Europe, but who should it be?
  24. thanks for the feedback...I have narrowed my choices down to Dr. Feriduni and Dr. Bessam Farjo!
  25. I’m looking for a UK surgeon to perform some front hairline work – possibly 1500 to 1750 grafts based on a previous examination. I’d prefer FUT as I don’t want to shave my head to zero and am looking for better rate of follicular transection density - obviously I want to consider the best UK surgeons to do this. I’ve seen Unshaven FUE but I’m a bit sceptical of the results. I’ve researched UK surgeons and found two lists one this forum and one on the IAHRS website, both listed below. How easy is it to get on these lists? I can find plenty of reviews for everyone except Edward Ball and Asim Shahmalak, can anyone shed any light on these two surgeons and their results. I’m aware of Mr Shahmalak’s celebrity clients but I tend not to take those too seriously and am looking for some objective reviews.
