Surgeons experienced with Asian Hair Transplants
gambit replied to gambit's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Thanks for all of the doctor recommends; they all seem like great choices and I have recently been in touch with Dr. Bloxham and Dorin, as well as a few other recommended doctors in the US. I really like Dorin's hairlines and temple work. Only recently did I come across some posts and articles saying that there was a difference between Asian and Caucausian patients, so I wanted to make sure that no complications arise from differences in physiology. Also I was planning on an FUT but am now considering FUE as well if I would need to grow my hair out longer than a #3 razor to hide the scar -
Driving four hours day after FUE?
Dr. Suhail Khokhar replied to williamsburgh's topic in Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
You should be fine driving the day after the procedure. They may give you a benzodiazepine for anxiety prior to your procedure and reputable clinics will tell you not to drive the same day and it will be a low dose probably. You picked a great surgeon in @Dr. Robert Dorin Please keep the community posted on your journey and happy growing buddy! -

Oh thank you! Great advice about the head rest. I am going with Dr. Dorin! I will reach out and ask their thoughts, too, as you suggested. Thanks! -

That was also the case for me with True/Dorin, though they do apply the $175 toward your procedure. For whatever it's worth, I had consultations at several other places, which were free, and had a much better conversation with Dr. True and scheduled my surgery right away. -
There are several surgeons experienced with asian hair. Asian hair isn’t particularly difficult, as it is straight. Have you consulted with some of the big names in NYC Bernstein, Bloxham, Wesley, True and Dorin? Take a look at our list of recommendations. https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Consult-a-Physician/hair-transplant-surgeons.asp

I’ve booked my HT with Dr. Dorin for Dec 2020. To say I’m Nervous, is an understatement. I lurk all sorts of forums. Today, I felt it was time to start my process/progress with some help. Hopefully, this will help others and possibly myself along the way. Treatment: topical finasteride and minoxidil blend from Murray Ave Appothecary Currently I’m a stage 3v-4. Leaning 4. My goal is to improve hairline and thicken front/middle through the forelock. Dr. Dorin says that he feels a 1200-1400 graft transplant will be suitable for me. After all my searching on here, I’m cal

I'm looking into the 4 NY doctors from here. Bernstein and True/Dorin want 175$ just to see me for the consultation. That's insane to me, should I really do that for each doctor? Is that normal? How do I know which one between them is the best one? If they're all elite coalition members. -

Funny stuff, noticed True and Dorin are at the same place. By the way, what's the difference between Ultra-Refined Follicular Unit Transplantation and normal FUT? I noticed all but one of the elite coalition guys do Ultra. -

Ideally you should try them a year before surgery to see if your hairloss stabilises. If youve ever gone to Rassman's baldingblog page he has loads of examples of guys who try the medications and actually regrow their hair. Fin reduces the amount of DHT in the body meaning it can stop your current hairloss, whereas minox extends the cycles of hairs and strengthens what you have. So they effectively work together in different ways to stabilise and enhance what you have. Theres a thread here by shifty who regrow most of his hair via medications etc. I mean hes an outlier for sure, but he s -
FUT is usually preferred by women because it doesn't require shaving the entire donor area and the strip scar can be easily hidden since nearly all women will never cut their hair so short that the scar will show. I think Dr Bloxham requires shaving the recipient area, but I don't know whether Dr Bernstein does. You may want to check out True & Dorin in NY as they don't require shaving the recipient area.

Hi all, I'm deciding between the two. Have met with both and outlined a lot of details from them as well as from other reviews I've read. Trying to make the final decision. Would you mind posting who you went to (of these 2), your experience, and please your before & after pictures? I'd like to have a run down to look at and it would help so much. Thanks in advance everybody, I appreciate it

Hello
I have had 3 transplants in total my last 2 with Dr. Dorin. After my 1st transplant with Dr. Dorin I began applying topical minoxidil. I recently had my 2nd transplant with Dr. dorin and are experiencing more shock loss than my first Dorin transplant.
I am nervous that I may be shedding my previously transplanted hair and am concerned that if that is the case the prior transplanted hairs will not grow back.
Any comment on this?
Appreciate any feedback you can provide.
Do you think I should just stop minoxidil??

Oral Minoxidil
FUEgetaboutit replied to Kieran2020's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I don't have personal experience myself, but Dr. Dorin of True & Dorin told me that he uses oral minoxidil. So, it's good enough for a top hair transplant doctor in the US, at the very least. -
This patient mid-20s underwent FUE hair restoration to address hairline recession and frontal erosion. 2723 grafts were extracted and transplanted over two sessions. As with many of our younger patients, we initiated medical therapy as well at the onset of his transplant journey. He has seen stabilization in the top/crown and is enjoying the transplant result in the frontal region. Bio-adjuncts PRP used intraoperatively and liposomal atp spray post-operatively.

Hey all, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I love this site! I've been doing so much research over the last few months on surgeons, procedures, everything. Very excited to say I booked a procedure with True and Dorin in NYC for September 19th. It's only for 1800-2000 grafts but I'm planning on doing a follow up FUT procedure of another 1800-2000 8 months after the first to increase density. He said my lifetime donor supply is only 5500-6000, and I'm between a Norwood 3V to 4 with likely progression to 5/6 over lifetime. Sadly the crown won't be completely covered, but I'm conside

FUE Doctors in NY
pre-screened replied to Louelhoover's topic in Hair Transplant Experiences and Surgeon Reviews
I dont see anyone within 500 miles of NYC putting out better or more refined FUE work than Dr.Carlos Wesley with plenty of patient case studies over many years on this site and others backing him up.......he seems to offer or be expert in no shave FUE also which is interesting. He's also in the class of HT doctor who genuinely seems to be trying to push the profession forward with his work around scarless surgery where the FU graft is taken from below the skin via one mini-FUT like incision in the scalp. V interesting. After that Dr.True & Dorin..........then Dr.Bloxham who is more of -
@UnbaldEagle What type of concealers do you all recommend? Is Toppik a concealer that can be used for the crown that people have experience with here? Almost all the doctors I've sent photos to have said I'm stage 5, but I've sent them all about 8+ photos, so perhaps they are seeing more with additional views? I've had a few say stage 4, and one say stage 6. It's crazy how different everyone's opinions are about what I should do, and what stage I am! All of these conflicting opinions is really maddening! In NYC, i've been talking to Bloxham and Wesley as well as a few others,

Dr. Dorin performed an utra-refined FUT consisting of 2008 grafts - 644 singles, 1245 doubles, 119 threes.Propecia initiated at the same time as his procedure. This is an auspicious start and atypical but we do see this from time to time. Usually this stage of development can be expected at around the 8 - 10 month mark.

Thank you for the insight, BeHappy. That logic definitely makes sense to me, part of the reason I decided to go with True and Dorin. I like the idea of being able to reevaluate progress after seeing results of first procedure and then pivot accordingly for second procedure. This is a marathon, not a sprint! Some of my family had concerns if the lower hairline in the first picture I posted was too low or too straight (didn't have enough mature hairline recession built in - wouldn't look natural), but I'm going to trust in the surgeon with experience - I think they're crazy, and might just

Beard Hair Grafts Benefit vs Disadvantage
BeHappy replied to anker21's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
True & Dorin in NY and Dr Sanusi Umar in CA are 2 that I know of in the USA. I have personally had beard and chest hair done at True & Dorin.
