  1. Cass & HBT - I notice the EXACT same things!!! my last updates were inside under bright fluorescent lighting most angles you don't see rows of hair just outlines around the edge of my head. Sunlight does it only at wierd angles, but normal angles that people would see me in are looking really good. I could definitely use another HT for better density but I won't really worry about it yet. I also see the hairs getting thicker, once a week I see a few new grafts starting to poke through the skin. usually at the temples area. Cass - Looking GREAT Bro!!! your face has well defined structure. How well does the Toppik work for you?? does it just do a good job covering skin or does it add appearance of density, is it detectable!?!?!?! That's my biggest concern about Toppik. I wouldn't want to use it if you can tell I am using it. I sent you another PM, hit me back with your schedule!HAPPY GROWING and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
  2. kramer - your thoery sounds a little "out there" BUT I understand where you're coming from! I don't have an answer but wanted to chime in. I have also noticed a few of what I "beleive" to be grafts coming commpletely out. The hair is about 1/8 - 1/4 inch in length and is surrounded by a crusty fleshy translucent substance, and it seems to be in a triangular/oval shape. While I've only noticed four of them and they are always coming from the same area, my crown. Specifically the upper right side along the "path" to my frontal area. my pics I would also like to hear comments from anyone who has experienced the same thing and from anyone who may have any explanation as to what it is.
  3. Down_under - I have been told concealers need something to hold onto. It sucks you are having a hard time finding references. But keep searching!! Good lick bro!
  4. Try contacting DAMO on doctors to go to. Nobody here can give you an acurate number of grafts, none of us are doctors. You will definitely hear some good suggestions on how many grafts, but don't put your hopes on our suggestions for grafts. If this is your first HT, which it probably is, do MANY consults. There are some docs out there that you can mail pic to and get a pretty good consult from. And before you decide on which doc and where --READ READ READ READ READ READ READ this forum and then read it AGAIN!! Check around here and you'll find that everyone who did research herre and anywhere else for that matter, seems to be very pleased with their HT. The first HT (in my opinion) is the most important. If it's the right doc and the right amount and the right timing, it can be an uplifting & life improving experience. The first HT isn't the end of hairloss, it's the begining of strategy to fight against it. With the right planning you can have good amounts of hair on your head for majority of your life. If anything is wrong, it can be a an even bigger heartbreaker than loosing your hair in the first place. You can read about this phenomenon all over this forum. Personally my HT was 2000+. I have no regrets, I see good results so far, and can expect the results to get better as time goes on. Here's what mine looks like so far http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f...6060861/m/8401084841 Study this forum, check out other forums, and do more than one consult. I say this because I thought the first consult was gonna be the "ONE", I found this site a week later and realized I would have been butchered and worse off pysically/emotionally. Sorry if this sounds harsh. But either way - good luck bro!!!!
  5. Troy & anyone else --- live life bro! I shaved my hair down to match the HT. everything looks good when it's sorta the same level. I think putting life on hold is bad for your post op recovery. Isolating and worrying only makes the process longer and more unbearable. Besides I know most of us didn't hide away while our hair was falling out, we struggled with ways around it, however that method may have worked. LIVE LIFE BRO!
  6. Just in case anyone is wondering what I'm talking about - Propecia is reported to loose at least SOME of it's effectiveness after 5 years of use. Rob- could you post your link on the Finasteride facts on this thread??
  7. OK! Here's the million dollar question - What do you do if you are on Propecia for 5 years??? Do you take time off, how much?? What if you are just begining teatment?? Take intevals of non-treatment?? How far apart?? Any Docs out there?? Your opinions??? With all the promoting we do for each other concerning finasteride, I just want to know how to get around this little speed bump?? Let's see, Finasteride was approved in 97/98 (correct me) that means at least one of us has already gone through this and figured something out Chime in brothers! The more the merrier
  8. Cylon- grin and bear it bro... nobody really can tell you had something done! the only thing they notice on me is the donor scar. I tell them I was attacked by a gang called the DHT's and they tried to scalp me!!! The areas just before my temples have sprouted, I am waiting to see some hairs poke through on the temples really soon. But I've said to other HT bro's- let the procedure do it's thign in it's time, evetually everythings gonna be OK PS - i've been keeping my hair at 1/2 inch for even looking hair.. just looks like it's growing.
  9. {male voice over} - tired of having orange hue on fair rosy white skin??? well try natural glow!! it's helped thousands acheive that not so fast tan.... j/k Rob!!!!! Yo Ken!! you just described my current situation except for the pink skin. My temples haven't started sprouting so it looks like I'm going bald..(wait a minute I REALLY LIKE THE WAY THAT SOUNDS, going bald NOT bald like a new born baby!! ) anyway - The tanning sounds like a good idea, even the concealers sound like a good idea. So did all the snake oils that told us they would cover /regrow /reverse hairloss, they sounded like good ideas My point is this - why bother with try to fill it more at this point? If you have a hot date, SURE GO FOR IT. But if it's just for you, don't bother. The way I see it we've spent so much time/money/energy on trying to hide/reverse it, at this point we know it's going to be OK eventually. Lately I've been on this philosophy about waiting and letting the procedure do what it is supposed to. Like I said a moment ago, if the cover up is for other peoples benefit (like your a supermodel or tv guy or rockstar) then do what you gotta do. But if your like me (joe average) then let the procedure do what it is going to do in it's time. I dunno, the idea of putting more stuff anywhere on my scalp is scary at this point. I understand the idea of trying to get the color to be even, hey the sun never cost me a penny I know this probably didn't help But thanks for letting me RANT!!!
  10. MW - The loss you are describing is the normal loss most of us have experianced after HT (even after a good one) Transplanted hairs are just like plants in this respect, When you move the follicle to a different spot, the existing shaft will go through the trauma of the relocation. The follicle has to reestablish where to get the nutrients from. In turn the existing shaft is going to shed. I shed 80% of my transplants. It will mess with your mind because you think you are worse off than when you started, but just relax! By 2 months post op most of us see some of the transplants begin to sprout. I'm 3 months post op, and see alot of transplants sprouting, not quite 2000 plus, but I now see hair in places that have been bald for 4 years! ! Most HT patients see the bulk of the transplants growing by 4-5 months, they usuallly descibe it as "all the suden I could see more hair there!". So kick back and enjoy the thought that this is only temporary! My doc explained to me that there are two types of shockloss. 1- when you transplant the hair it will go into shock, this is expected, it WILL happen. And is thought to be a good sign. 2-the hair not transplanted, that is native to the recipient falls out. This one is not good. It means the hairs were somehow transected or for whatever reason the scalp may have been traumatized. What you are talking about - sounds NORMAL!
  11. Yo Cass- looking really good so far! I am seeing a few starting to poke through in my recipiecnt areas, I'll post some pix in a couple of weeks. Your pix are showing some really good looking hair, I mean it looks very thick and strong. Happy growing buddy!!!!! Oh yeah- I've heard the crown takes longer to grow for some reason.... Is your crown "sprouting"?? I see some growth there but I'm not sure how many are transplants.
  12. I'm almost three months post op. My donor area hasn't started growing back, I really don't care if does. For the donor area you could try using Minox. I've heard it works well to get the donor area going. 80% of my transplants shed. I've seen a few of them starting to grow. The ones that never shed are still growing and seem very strong. Kick back and stay calm! I freaked out for a while! Just relax, it will grow. Give it time!
  13. NYCMan - Usually the hair will come back with further treatment from Minox. I used Avacore for a year and never saw any results, so don't sweat that too much. The Propecia is known to cause a shed in the begining. and as I said most of the time it comes back. Be careful of changing treatments around. The only two treatments approved by the USFDA are Minoxidil & Propecia. Anything else is very questionable as to the effectiveness. As long as the hair follicles are still healthy, the hair should grow back.
  14. Hey Pat - I want to thank you for all of your efforts!!! I want you to know the work you've done so far has helped at least one preson make a good decision on a HT doc. I do understand there is some $$ and a lot of effort in getting this forum onthe first page of ANY search. But we need to remember what we were before got a little education from this site... We were balding... many of us didn't know about resoration - shock loss - follicular units etc.......... do a search on balding on google and you get text book definitions. do a search for baldness or MPB and you get more definitions. And by the way you get a BOSLEY link in the top three sites on almost every page related HT. YES I KNOW it takes alot of effort and maybe $$. But I really think this site SHOULD be in the tope three links on anything related to baldness. When I was searching about it, I wanted to know why it I was balding and how to fix it quick!! Most people don't want to do the same research that I did. They want it fixed now. Sorry I'm ranting again. PAT - if there's anything I can do help this site, please let me know. I feel this site saved me from a huge mistake (MHR) and could potentially do the same for others. I wouldn't mind giving something back! Rob- I know Dr Deyarman is on this site. I thought Pat was asking for names of docs who should get a second review or better rating or something to that effect.
