FUT performed on a 26 year old African female patient with: - Donor density of ca. 72 FU/cm2 in the temporal donor region and 76 FU/cm2 in the parietal donor region - Hair diameter of ca. 52-56 microns - Hair loss due to a burning injury in her childhood - Her health insurance didn’t cover the costs of a reconstructive surgery so she became a ‘foundation’ patient Treatment plan: Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 1800-2000 FU to restore and fill in the burn marks. Performed procedure (January, 19th 2016): A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 2377 FU * 514 single hair FU * 1461 double hair FU * 402 triple hair FU Donor closing in 1mm lower edge Trichophytic Closure technique; Parallel and perpendicular incisions (single, double and triple hair units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.7mm – 1mm); Density of 30-50 FU/cm2 in the hairline and feather zone (single units), a density of 40-45 FU/cm2 in the density zone (double and triple units). No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.8mm – 0.85mm) 2nd Treatment (February 4th, 2016) A Follicular Unit Extraction with 310 FU * 100 single hair FU * 210 double hair FU * No triple hair FU Ʃ: 310 FU Extraction performed with a 0.85mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.8mm – 0.85mm) Dr. Bijan Feriduni

FUE performed on a 46 year old Caucasian male with: - NW II-III Class N - Donor density of 84 FU/cm2 in the temporal region and 92 FU/cm2 in the parietal region - Hair diameter of ~54-58 µm Treatment plan: - 1st FUE procedure with 2200-2400 follicular units to reconstruct the hairline and fill in the temporal recessions; - 2nd FUE procedure with 500-600 follicular units to add density to the hairline Surgery details: 1st procedure (October 23th, 2014): A Follicular Unit Extraction with 2229 FU * 437 single hair FU * 1002 double hair FU * 790 triple hair FU Extraction performed with a 0.9mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.8mm – 0.9mm) 2nd procedure (April 4th, 2015): A Follicular Unit Extraction with 1038 FU * 235 single hair FU * 803 double and triple hair FU Extraction performed with a 0.85mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. FUE performed on a 36 year old Caucasian male with: - A diffuse hair loss pattern - Donor density of 88 FU/cm2 in the temporal region and 96 FU/cm2 in the parietal region - Hair diameter of ~54-58 µm Treatment plan: A Follicular Unit Extraction with 2700-3200 FU to reconstruct the hairline, the central core and the beginning of the bridge. A medical therapy with finasteride 1mg to prevent permanent postoperative shock loss and further hair loss in the crown area. Performed procedure (December 3rd, 2015): A Follicular Unit Extraction procedure with 2852 FU: - 500 single hair FU - 1376 double hair FU - 976 triple hair FU Extraction performed with a 0.80mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.85mm) In this patient’s case, there has been a considerable improvement in hair thickness and -growth in the crown area due to the medical therapy with finasteride 1mg. The crown area has not been addressed during the hair transplant procedure, the whole improvement in the crown area (all new hairs) is a result of the effect of finasteride. Dr. Bijan Feriduni

Thanks thatoldchestnut for the compliment! To Newbie33 and Pelo123: 'Ex domo' literally means 'out of house' so his first procedure was indeed performed at a different clinic. To answer Newbie33 's question: this patient wasn't keen on having a second strip surgery due to the discomfort and longer recovery period of a strip surgery so he opted for FUE. To Spanker: the result of his first surgery was nice and his scar looked very good so it was indeed more an enhancement on his previous result and not so much a repair case. Kind regards, Dr. Bijan Feriduni
