  1. Hi guys, I just started taking Minoxidil earlier this month and today I noticed I shed more than usual amount of hairs. Wanted to ask those of you who have experience when did the shedding phase begin for you and how long did it last? I tried Google but most of the results were for topical so wanted some first hand accounts.
  2. Hi guys, just wanted to canvas any experiences you guys might have in buying from these online stores? https://honeybeehealth.com/drugs/loniten https://www.blinkhealth.com/loniten https://www.goodrx.com/loniten?
  3. Hey thanks for the replies! Would you be able to provide me the contact details of your clinic so I could ask them directly? Am thinking of starting on a similar regime as you, unfortunately September would be way too long to wait. Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi Viney, impressive improvement just from medications. Can I clarify that you have stopped taking FInasteride? You are only on Minoxidil and Dutasteride? Am unfamiliar with Dutasteride, will have to look into it. I also have a question on how to get Sublingual Minoxidil. I was actually in Australia recently for a holiday and was trying to look for oral Minoxidil but couldn't find it at any of the pharmacies. Do you have to get a prescription to get it? If so does your clinic provide to people overseas?
  5. Ummm... so nobody has any experience with the incisions made in the recipient area with a hypodermic needle before? What's the best procedure for crown incisions in your opinion?
  6. Thanks for your input Shampoo, helps me in my decision going forward. You're definitely right, gotta plan ahead with finite resources. Question, can anyone tell me how much total donor hair can one expect from the back of the head throughout one's lifetime? Assuming of course you will retain a full back head of hair. Also has anybody also had experience with the incisions made in the recipient area with a hypodermic needle instead of a blade?
  7. Thanks also to the rest of the guys for continuing this discussion If there's anybody out there who has done work to their crown and not taken meds, please feel free to chime in. I'd definitely like to hear your experience.
  8. Just to revive this thread again because again I am contemplating getting a HT on my crown. It has been 4 years since this thread and my crown has definitely thinned albeit slowly. But it is at the point where I want to do something about it. I agree with you scar5, to me the crown is more important than a receding hairline. I have consulted a HT doctor and he seems reluctant to do crown HTs too and instead recommends Finasteride and Minoxidil as a solution. But from what I've read, both medications are basically a roll of the dice, works for some, doesn't for others, so I want to stay away from them and don't want to take the risk. So for crown HTs, what's the best technique? The doctor I consulted harvests using strip and then uses a hypodermic needle to make the incisions for the recipient area. This is something new that I haven't read about before, anybody can comment on this?
  9. Wow, looks good Botak. May I ask how many grafts you did?
  10. Hi guys, my question is 'Is it ever a good idea to do HT on your crown?' If your hair is receeding and if it is thinning on that area, wouldn't it make it worse if you go ahead with a HT and risk having shockloss?
  11. My doc was also Dr Path. My scar is covered by hair but if I feel with my fingers I can feel a slightly raised bump so I'm sure it's not really invisible if I had no hair to cover it.
  12. Hariri, I noticed you pretty much posted the same comments on a few other threads about Dr Pong. What's up with that?
  13. Hi creepingback, I just came back to this thread of yours after a few years away. Sorry to hear that you weren't satisfied with your HT with Dr Path. It seems we had a similar experience in the Dr promising us unrealistic expectations during the HT. Anyways, am curious to find out if you have gone back to him for a second HT?
  14. Hi rogeryap and HarrHarr, you guys got any pics of your surgery? I'm also considering Dr Pong, but just want to do some more research first...
  15. Hi jimmybald and botak, do you guys have any pic updates somewhere? I'm also considering Dr Pong and am in the middle of doing some research. Can I also ask if he uses the lateral slit technique to insert the grafts?
  16. Hi guys, can I ask those of you who've gone with Dr Pong what method he uses for inserting the grafts? Is it the lateral slit technique?
  17. Skoom, just thought you might be interested to read my experience with Dr Path. I posted it on this thread here
  18. Hi creepingback, did you ever go with Dr Path? brianf, how's your HT coming along? Did it turn out well?
  19. Hi, I've shared my experience of having done my HT with Dr Path in this thread. Have a look, hope it helps you with your decision... thread here
  20. Hi guys, I'd just like to share my the experience I've had with Dr Path. I had my HT done around August last year, so it's been a full one year now and I've been able to better judge the results of my HT. Seems there isn't much info on Dr Path on this board so I'd just like to relate my personal experience with him. First, a little history... I'm Asian and around 30 this year. Around 6 years ago, I started noticing that my temples started receding, for now it has stopped at a Norwood Stage 2. Judging by my family's history, that is as far as it will recede. However, it still bothered me so I started doing some research (that's how I found this invaluable site) and decided to go for HT. Also, I'm one of those guys who just didn't have a lot of sideburns. So those were the two things I wanted, a bit of fill up on my temples and sideburns. Like a lot of you, finance was a huge consideration from me as I simply could not afford to go to a top HT doc in the US. So after digging through this site, I settled on Dr Path. I did the usual, sent him pics, got a quote and set a date for the operation. Dr Path requires a deposit to book a date with him, I paid $US1000 and the date was set. Originally when he saw my pics he said I'd only needed 1000 grafts but when I was actually there in the clinic doing a personal examination, the figure jumped up to 1600. I believe this was because the right side of my temple has a bit more receding than my left side on closer examination and was through no fault of his. Of the experience itself, I'd say his staff was very friendly, a nice lady by the name of Christine who was a doctor from the Philippines who was training under Dr Path attended to me most of the time. For the first day, I went to the clinic to have a check, get briefed and to get the actual amount of grafts I'd actually need. Be aware that Dr Path does not accept credit cards, so I had to pay in cash. But that was a year ago, so he might now. On the second day I went to the clinic. The clinic's a bit old but clean. I have to say though, I felt a bit rushed on this day during the process of determining the design of my temple hairline. Because it was my first time, i was a bit finicky with drawing on the lines on my head to show him where I wanted the grafts to be. They gave me an eyeliner pen I believe, to do this. But after I had a drawn a hairline I was happy with, they had to rub it off and the doctor redrew it with a needle dipped in some kind of blue ink. Which kind of defeated the purpose of me spending all that time drawing my hairline didn't it? It just seemed that he was in a bit of as hurry to get it over with. The operation itself was good, not much pain and it took approx 5 hrs. I didn't get any massages or free meals though like the other guys who have gone to Dr Path. Perhaps because I was considered a 'small job' compared to his other clients. He did however give me a package price because he had under-estimated the amount of grafts I originally needed and I was a bit short of the full amount needed at that time, so he was good that way. On the third day I went back for a shampoo and checkup session and that was it. So one year has passed, as I'm Asian, when i was at the clinic, he told me 30 FU/sq density was enough (at least I think it was 30, I'm recalling from memory at this point, I also don't remember how big the coverage area was, somewhere around 15-19cm perhaps? I wish I had taken notes) and I would only need one pass. Well, I'm still not satisfied with the density as it looks like half of what it should be. When I was at the clinic I told him I was worried the density wouldn't be enough so I told him that I would rather spend the money on all the grafts going to my temple as long as it was dense enough. I could live without sideburns but I had really wanted a good result for my temples. He reassured me however that 1600 would be dense enough to cover both my temples and sideburns, so I went with his recommendation The other thing I'm not too happy with is the design of the hairline. If one looks closely the corner points of my temples aren't symmetrical, my right side is slightly higher than my left side. I put this down to Dr Path rushing me when during the design process like I mentioned earlier. And also because he basically redrew the design I had done earlier myself. Also artistic wise, Dr Path didn't really randomize the edges of my hairline like I've seen other top docs do from pics, for that natural staggered effect? As it is, it's not too bad, but not too great either. The last thing is, my donor scar isn't symmetrical as well. For some reason this is how he chose to cut my donor strip. My scar starts from around close to behind my left ear all the way to just the lower back of my head on the right side. Odd right? Not that it bothers me to much because it's all covered by hair anyways but I thought it was odd. So, in conclusion I'd say technically, Dr Path is quite good but artistically, not that hot. Price wise, it's quite reasonable for the rest of us who can't afford the top docs in the US. It looks like I'll have to go for a second HT to get the density I want and to slightly correct the symmetry of my hairline. Dr Pong looks like a good option. Anybody who's done work with him so far? PS. My apologies for the overly long post, but I thought it'd be good to share my whole experience with Dr Path with others as it looks like there aren't too many posts bout him that others can glean from.
  21. Hi guys, I recently had a HT. This would be my fifth day post op. I only had some work done on my temples. My question is this, although I have slightly longish hair that if styled properly could hide it, the post HT 'stubble look' sometimes peeks through. I was wondering if I could use an electric shaver and just shave the new HT hairs quite close to the skin so it looks a bit more 'natural'. Would that damage my HT hairs or have any side effects in any way? Thanks in advance for your time guys.
  22. Thanks for all your replies guys! They've put my mind at ease. Bill... heheh yeah, couldn't think of anything else since I'm totally new to both HT and posting on forums ;p Again, thanks guys!
  23. Hi everybody, I'm currently considering HT, here's a little background on myself, I'm in my 30s. My temple has been receding slowly over the past couple of years, but it has stopped at a Norwood stage 2, and seems to be staying that way (I've noticed it's been the same for the last 3 years or so). Judging by my family's history, eg. my dad and my grandad, that is as far as it will recede. I've been reading this forum and it's been extremely helpful. I've decided that all I need is a bit of work on my temples as that's what's bothering me. I've had a consult with a doctor and he reckons 1000 grafts would do the job. However, I've still got a couple of questions... 1. For a case like mine, I don't plan to take any medication like Rogaine or Propecia after HT and was just wondering if there was anybody with a similar case like mine who has done HT and not take any medication and not have their HT hairs fall out? Say maybe somebody like 5 yrs post op? PS. I have read that transplanted hair will never fall off since they are from a permanent donor zone that's resistant to DHT but still, just wondering. 2. Is Trychophytic closure the best way to go for my case as I don't want a visible scar? And if so, which is the best between a Marzola, Fechet or Rose technique? Or, what is the difference? Thanks in advance for any opinions and help. Also, sorry if any of these questions have been answered in the past.
  24. Hi Saigon, was just wondering how your donor scar is healing? Is it still visible? I'm actually considering going to Dr. Path as well. Just worried about how well donor scars heal up at the mo.
